Chelley Williams of Douglasville, GA
Most Valued Form of Character:
Q: Please tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from and where are you now?
A: I am from Douglasville, Georgia. I was born and raised here! It is a small town about 20 minutes outside of Atlanta. I have been so blessed to travel around the world with my husband while he followed his dream of pitching in the major leagues. We have lived in some of the most beautiful, amazing places, but nothing is like home sweet home!
Q: How did you meet and fall in love with your husband?
A: Well, that’s a funny story =) I will give the short version =) Talk about soul mates! I was in undergrad in Florida at college and went on spring break with my friends and met him out in Sarasota. He was seriously what I had asked God for. When I told my friends after a week that we would probably get married, they thought I was crazy! =) 12 years later, I love him more every day. We have so much fun together. We are both very driven people, and that’s hard to balance. But, we work so well because we support one another’s dreams.
Q: What about those gorgeous babies??? Tell us all about them.
A: AWWW… my girls! They are my pride and joy =) I have 3 girls, ages 9, 6 and 3. We homeschool the older 2 girls so that we can all be together as a family while my husband travels, and it’s so fun! Katie just turned 9 and she is your typical first born. She is a leader, and she has the biggest heart for others and it makes me so proud. She is a gymnast, and she spends most of her time during the week upside down =) She’s so silly and doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her and I love it! Kylie is our sweet, middle child! She is 6 and is a mix of sugar and spice for sure. She doesn’t have a care in the world, and spends life “jumping through the daisies!” She is the most loving child and will hug all over you and cuddle all day if you’d let her. Kyndall is 3&1/2 and she is a mess. We joke and say she would be an only child if she were born first! She is so incredibly busy! She definitely fits the mold of the “baby” in the family. I love posting pictures of her doing silly things online. She keeps us laughing all day. She reminds me a lot of my husbands personality.. and she’s left handed like him too, so that explains a lot!
Q: What did you do in your previous life? Pre-Matilda Jane?
A: My husband says, that I bought it all time haha. I still do mostly the same things that I did before it =) I would like to think that I am a good multi- tasker. I am a part-part time pharmacist and full time mama and wife!
Q: How did Matilda Jane find YOU?
A: A few years ago, one of my friends found it online and threw a party. I immediately fell in love!!! I hosted a party next and fell in love with our sweet trunk keeper and we became friends. My favorite thing about Matilda Jane is that my girls just look like little girls. The clothes are sooooo comfy for those high maintenance girls in your lives, they are modest, they are made with the BEST fabric, and the cutest details you’ve ever seen. You can wash it every week and it still looks brand new. Not to mention that it lasts for years. A dress becomes a top, pants become capris, etc. Did I mention I LOVE Matilda Jane? =)
Q: Who on this earth has been the number one influence in your life?
A: My mom has been my number one influence for sure. She was strict and I used to think she was a little over the top. Now that I am a mother of my own children, I see that what she did worked beautifully raising me. We grew up in church and were there when the doors were opened! At a young age, we knew we weren’t living for ourselves. We were being raised to be a blessing to others. She knew what was best for us and that was it. She never worried about what the “world” says you should let your child do and I can honestly say that I am thankful for that!!
Q: What are 5 words your friends would use to describe you?
A: Sleep when you are dead. HAHA!! In addition to that, they would probably say short, scattered, passionate, caring and driven.
Q: Besides your family, what are you most passionate about?
A: I will try and keep it short! I believe we were created to change the world for someone =) To show someone the love that Christ has shown us, and to spread the Light. I am most passionate about mission work and orphans. When I went to pharmacy school, I knew that I was going to use my degree to help others that need medicine and have no access to it. There is no greater joy in helping someone. I love that about Denise and all of the Matilda Jane girls at 4031. She is a giver!! She is always behind the scenes, but doing big things and impacting lives of children and families in need daily. Knowing that I can be a part of that is awesome =)
Q: Chocolate or Vanilla?
A: Chocolate for sure.
Q: Are you a dreamer or a realist?
Q: Crazy or not, what is one dream that you would most like to make come true?
A: I have a few. It’s hard to choose one. I have to give my top two because they are a tie =)) I really would love for our entire family to all live right down the road from us in Douglasville. All of them!! And the other dream is for my family to have a pharmacy in our town to dispense free medicine to the working uninsured people, the elderly in that darn donut hole and to be able to dispense free meds for teams traveling to third world countries. I would also love to use it as a place to just educate others on their disease states and help them to learn how to take care of themselves.
Q: If you were gifted $1 million to donate to any charity or organization, which one would you choose? Why?
A: Choosing one would be hard! Our church has a new free medical clinic in town and I would love to give to that. It is for underinsured, working people who have no access to health care. It always kills me that people can work full time, but still not be able to afford health insurance =( Also, there is an awesome organization called 147 million orphans. Their mission is my dream. They are providing food, medicine and clean water to kids all around the world.
Q: If you could crawl into the pages of any book, what would it be and why?
A: Kisses from Katie by Katie by Katie Davis. She is my hero. She believes that EVERY life is important, and by just changing one and seeing small changes, it turns into big ones. I want to jump into that book and g o with her! =)
Q: Are you a country mouse or city mouse?
A: I like the feeling of being out in the country but then I want to be close to everthing =)
Q: If you could have Denise design ANY item for Matilda Jane, what would that be and why?
A: I would love if she would make some itty bitty, baby clothes! I love sharing MJ with my friends and family and it is painful having to wait a WHOLE year to be able to put them in Matilda Jane! =)
Q: Lastly, in the spirit of Heart~Soul~Pride, what in your opinion is the most important form of character?
