Candid Keepers #420

Introducing:

Taren Whitley of St. Louis, MO

Most Valued Form of Character:

Integrity

Q:  Please tell us a bit about yourself.  Where are you from and where are you now?

A:  I was actually born in South Dakota, but raised in Saint Louis, Missouri.  I have lived in Saint Louis my whole life.  Hmmm… let’s see, I am 30 years old.  Ugh that just happened and I am not used to saying that yet. 😉  I have three kids and besides being a mom my most favorite thing to do EVER is cook!

Q:  How did you meet and fall in love with your husband?

A:  Mark and I met in High School; we were friends for a few years before we started dating.  And I fell in love with his heart.  He is so genuine and sincere all the time and I really loved that about him.  I also think it is good when you are friends with someone first because there’s no pressure and you feel like you can be yourself around them.

Q:  Tell us about your precious munchkins.

A:  Brynn, my son is 8.  He is an old soul and has such wisdom for his age and never stops amazing me. Peyton is 6 and she is hilarious. She brings me to my highest of highs and my lowest of lows! Then there is Olivia she is 3 and the typical baby of the family. Center of Attention and is always reminding me that she can do it herself!

Q:  What did you do in your previous life?  Pre-Matilda Jane?

A:  I realize now that I must have been really bored.  😉 I just did the mom thing and was involved in my kids school …I feel like I have found a breath of  fresh air! I love this job and can’t wait to spread some Matilda Jane all around St. Louis!! I’ve found my perfect niche!

Q:  What is your favorite part of working for Matilda Jane?

A:  There are so many parts where do I even start?!?! I feel like I belong to a secret society…when you have been a customer for so long and then you get to know all the secrets it’s so fun!! To be able to sell something that you believe in and love is really cool too! I love working for a company that has a vision and has a giving heart! One of the things that stood out to me most of all was at conference Denise said that if she was not able to give anymore then she would cut back in other areas of the company. She never wants to not be able to give and I love that the most!

Q:  If you could wear one item every day, what would that be?

A:  Finn pants!  They are like pj’s

Q:  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A:  Settled, Restored, Still selling that Matilda…I might need to have another baby to wear it…That’s not a weird thing to say right? 🙂

Q:  What are your favorite blogs or websites you visit EVERY day?

A:  This is going to sound weird but I am not a blogger or website stalker..

Q:  Besides your children, what has your greatest accomplishment been thus far?

A: Hmmm..Without getting to personal …Standing strong in my faith when everything around me fell apart. I never gave up hope and I believed in God’s promises for me and my family’s life. I’m here now feeling restored and stronger than ever!

Q:  Share with us just ONE very important thing you do to try to leave this world a better place.

A:  To make sure my children are raised to respect and make a difference in everything they do big or small. I really want them to see me do what is right instead of just telling them what is right.

Q:  What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas!

A:  To see the looks on my baby’s faces is priceless

Q:   How have you learned to balance life with the many, many hats you wear?

A:  Pray and ask God to order my steps and I always have to make sure I am putting Him first. It says in the bible that if we commit our plans to the Lord He will cause us to succeed.

Q:  What is the most valuable lesson you hope to instill in your children?

A:  Don’t be a hearer of the word but a doer. I remember hearing Stand up for what is right even if it means you are standing alone and I say that to them all the time.

Q:  Salty or sweet?

A:  Both it’s a vicious cycle 😉

Q:  What do you love most about having kids?

A:  Well to be honest some days I don’t love having kids.  😉 I do feel like children refine you. They show you how to be selfless, teach you patience (or lack of) and my most favorite thing about children is they show you unconditional love.

Q:  If you could have lunch with any celebrity, who would you choose and why?

A:  I feel like it would be fun to be on a cooking show with like Giada or Paula Deen and have them cook with/for me!

Q:  If you could have Sam design any item for Matilda Jane, what would it be and why?

A:  BEDDING!! I AM SCREAMING IF YOU CAN’T TELL!!   It would be perfectly beautiful I can’t even imagine the textures and details and cuteness. I would really like swimsuits too if the whole bedding thing doesn’t work out..ok one more thing.  PJ’s. That’s it, I’m done.  😉

Q:  Lastly, in the spirit of Heart~Soul~Pride, what in your opinion is the most important form of character?

A:  Integrity and not judging others. I really strive for both of these and I always am trying to not pass judgment. I think it’s a daily struggle but we are all in process.

Have a beautiful Thursday, everyone!  Fall is in the air.  Drink it in. 🙂

XOXO,

Jami
