Stacey Farris of Dothan, AL
Q: Well hello there. Tell us a little bit about YOU.
A: I’m Stacey Farris and I’m from Dothan, Alabama, which is in the southeast corner of the state. We have lived here for about nine years, since my husband and I finished college and moved here for jobs. I’m an occupational therapist and I work in a local hospital. I love working with children, and I’ve worked with pediatrics for a large part of my career.
Q: How did you meet and fall in love with the man of your dreams?
A: Michael and I grew up not far from each other and we had mutual friends as teenagers. We got to know each other and started dating in college at Troy University. After just a few months of dating, we knew that we were made for each other! We have been married for ten years now.
Q: Bebes? You know we’d love to hear about them.
A: We have three awesome kiddos that we are so proud of. Reid is our big boy- he’s seven and in the second grade. He is inquisitive, smart, artistic and sort of an old soul. Ramsey is five- our little girl in the middle. She is funny, imaginative, carefree and keeps us on our toes. Our little man Rhett is 20 months old. He keeps the whole family laughing and loves to entertain. He’s also very sweet and loving, and his voice is my favorite sound in the whole world!
Q: How long have you been with Matilda Jane and when did you know you wanted to be a Trunk Keeper?
A: This is my first season as a trunk keeper. I’ve known about MJ for a long time, but I didn’t know of anyone in my area who hosted shows or was very familiar with the line. Last spring, I finally decided to submit an inquiry on the website and I was plugged in with a trunk keeper. I was still nervous to host a show because I didn’t know what kind of response I would get. Soon after, I tagged along with a friend to a local show and became hooked! I hosted shows for the next three releases and kept seeing new people become interested, so I decided to apply for trunk keeper and bring MJ to the local level on a larger scale. Paint by Numbers has been fun!
Q: I have many rituals in my day. How do you like to start out your day?
A: I climb out of bed and immediately jump in the shower so that I can wake up! I have a few minutes of “me time” to get myself ready for the day before the rest of the family is up and we all hit the ground running. Mornings are crazy with getting everyone off to school and work bright and early!
Q: What is your favorite family tradition?
A: Christmas morning! We always make sure that this time is reserved for just us- we get up with the kids and enjoy watching them open their gifts. We try not to schedule any travel on that day, and just simply savor our time together at home.
Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
A: My husband has probably had more influence on me than anyone else. He has always pushed to overcome the next obstacle and found a path of success. He never let me give up and supported me in everything from grad school to raising our kids. Together we maintain a balance in our sometimes crazy, always busy household.
Q: Which historical figure would you like to meet?
A: Mother Theresa
Q: What is your favorite time of day and why?
A: My favorite time is in the evening, when homework is done, everyone has had dinner and it’s time to just relax and catch up with each other after a busy day. Of course, this doesn’t happen every day!
Q: What teacher or coach has had the most impact on you and why?
A: There have been so many teachers throughout my life who have influenced me, it would be unfair to name just one. Those who taught “life lessons” in addition to academics and who made me believe in myself and be responsible for my own success definitely stand out!
Q: Which TV family is most like your own?
A: My family doesn’t get much time to watch a lot of TV, so I can’t really think of a television family like us! (Although most days around here could make for a pretty good comedy!)
Q: What is your favorite smell in the whole world?
A: Chocolate chip cookies, of course!
Q: Where is the coziest spot in your home?
A: My bed! When it’s finally time to end the day, I love to snuggle down and watch a little TV or read a good book. It’s also the perfect place for snuggling with all three of my little ones when they crawl into bed with us (which is often!).
Q: What is your “must have” Paint by Numbers piece?
A: For my daughter, I am loving the Butternut Tank Dress right now. It’s so cute with so many different layering options, and it has a totally different look every time we mix something new with it. For myself, the Daybreak Cardigan is a must-have piece that is just so easy to throw on and go!
