Falling Into Place

Today things seem pretty okay. Like all these little missing pieces are finally falling into place.

Perhaps I feel this way because I’ve been lucky enough to work with Denise the past couple days. All it takes is an afternoon with her to feel whole again. Not to mention, she’s lifting some of the weight of Matilda Jane off my shoulders again. So thankful to have her eye on Fall 2014 finally. It’s like now that she’s back the whole collection is coming together. And fast!! We’ve been working nonstop on it for the past 3-4 days and it’s almost finished. Of course that’s with a month a half of me working on it by myself, preparing for the moment she could join me. Funny how much we can do when we’re together.

I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a millllllion times but…I feel like this Collection is going to be a hit. It’s bright. Cheery. Festive. Has all my favorite colors in it—jade, mint, coral, hunter green, and cornflower blue. Every color seems to flow effortlessly to the next. Dang, I can’t wait to show you. Too bad it’s a little less than a year away!

No worries, there’s plenty of Paint By Numbers surprise to still share. We’ve got some of our favorite pieces to release still. Releases 1 and 2 always have a way of completing each other, but release 3 always takes a left turn into new prints and a few new colors. And don’t get me started on this year’s Holiday Release. Pure fancy perfection!! And how often can you really use the word “fancy” to describe Matilda Jane? Ha I guess it depends, but really…it’s shiny and has tulle!

It’s a good Monday here. The weather is the epitome of a perfect fall day. At least my kind of a fall day (it’s 70 here!!). I’m waiting for Denise to come home from chemo to finish up these cut outs (we have soooo many) so we can do sketches, tech sheets, and then BREATHE. Ha! I swear our design timeline moves up every year. I think Denise mentioned to me the other day that we have to have Spring 2015 designed by January?!! That’s crazy to me. You guys won’t have even seen Spring 2014 yet!!! How are we supposed to know what you guys loved/liked/and could have done without?!

Oh well. Designing these beauties comes naturally to us, so we’ll just keep up the good work and hopefully hit a home run.

Enjoy your Monday’s friends!! I hope it’s a good one for you too.

LOVE,

Sam

PS. I got new glasses this week. What do you think?? I took this photo yesterday, but I’m still sporting them today! That’s a good sign, right?

You did great with the glasses…….I got so excited seeing this “busy” table and imagining all that had happened around it. You and Denise continue to hit “out of the park”…….excited about round 3 and then the holiday!!

I just found a notebook from my childhood. It had paper doll style cut outs just like these – only 80’s style and 80’s colors and apparently I was going through a little “hoochie mama” phase because some were a little revealing (surprising because I was an athlete and tomboy and didn’t even wear a dress to school until 8th grade – I NEEDED Matilda Jane back then for the style and the confidence it brings)! Anyway, I put my sketches away when my mom said you could never design clothes living in a small town…and I thought she knew everything back then. Your creative sessions are part and parcel of my Matilda Jane addiction! As far as the glasses go, I adore them! I’m so glad to hear that you are able to spend some time working with Denise and you are all still in our prayers.
