It was such a great Spring Break. I might say the best ever. We went down to WaterSound for a week with 3 other families and just laid in the sun, rode bikes and chatted. It was wonderful. Oh, Oh, oh..and I actually saw a mom and little girl wearing MJC. For real, I was so dang excited. I wanted to say hi, but it had been a day without a shower and my make-up form the day before. A simple Hi may have turned into a quick fright!
I also ran into the talented Sara Anthony. Once again, I was embarrased. She was gorgeous, sweet and had the 2 most adorable kids toting along side her. Once again, it had been a day without a shower and my make-up from the day before. Seriously, when I pack, I pack very little. Afterall, when I am at home I wear the same clothes for days, so why would vacation be any different. There is no use in fooling myself.
So now that I am home, I need to get this place in shape. I’ve pretty much given up on anymore unpacking. So if it wasn’t the chosen box to be worth a special shelf or whatnot, it remains in a box piled in the corner. David keeps asking me if I am done buying stuff. Truth is, I wish I was but I am not. And I get a huge ache in the pit of my stomach every time I have to order one more thing, but I really do need it. You all need to be comfortable when you come to the Saturday night 435 party. so hey, it’s your fault, and wow, I just came up with a great excuse to get patio furniture.
Something is up with my email. You guys have sent me the best photos and about 80% of them I cannot open. I can view them but I can’t convert to jpeg. So weird.
Well, I am off to start this Sunday morning with a bang. Lots to do with 435 quickly approaching. Oh, please know we will not be in Plymouth this summer. With 435 and Dress Rehearsal so close together I am afraid we’d loose our mind plus a few other factors. Chris and I talked about it. When we first started doing art fairs we were just us, then we added help sewing and there was maybe 4-5 of us. I used to cringe when I saw artists at the shows and I know they did not make all their wares but had help from a pretty decent sized staff. I debated last year on pulling out for that very reason but did not. While it was a fantastic show and we got to meet so many great folk it felt wrong. I was doing exactly what I cringed upon, selling wares made by 15 or more people. Art fairs are a place to buy one of a kind works of art direct form the artist themselves. That is what makes it so cool. It’s not my place nor is it fair to exhibit. But hey, we got 435.
So be sure to put it on your calendar, June 25-26. We will have a pre-435 party Friday night, all are invited! And Saturday night we will have an adult only party at our house. And of course Saturday during the day will be the art fair sale at 435. We have some great new pieces….never seen before…..that will be available. We have plenty of great events planned too! Just you wait.
And don’t forget:
Send us something that reminds you of Matilda Jane Clothing. And there are a few requirements. It must fit into a envelope no bigger than 12-1/2″ X 9-1/2″. That is your typical USPS Priority Mail Envelope. It doesn’t have to be a “thing”. It can be a story, a word, a picture, little pieces of fabric, it can be anything. All entries must be accompanied by a pic of your daughter or you in MJC gear. And it does have to be received by us at MJC, attn “Sara S., 435 E Brackenridge, Fort Wayne IN 46802″. And it has to be received no later than April 30.
The deadline is April 30 because we have to have time to pick the top 10, and then have you pick the winner by mid May so we have time to get the details organized. For the WINNER? We are going to bring you and a friend to 2nd annual 435 Art fair. Yup the entire trip (airfare, car, hotel, food) and then some….. It’s all on us. (oh, I’m so excited about this…) NOTE: I dropped the “within U.S.”. The contest is now open to EVERYONE…within the U.S. or not!
