Running on Empty

Yesterday was the day I was supposed to get gas, then last night then, well, I so forgot.  I really do hate morning, mostly rushed mornings. I get in the car, s&(* I forgot to get gas.  You know, I was a proud 10 minutes early for school which soon turned into 15 minutes late.  My purse was no where, okay, it was somewhere, that somewhere being David’s car. I really hate this senseless stress which turned into me opening a pack of peeps, then opening another pack to eat a total of 8. And to top it off, because I had no purse, and no money I didn’t even get my Dt Coke and I am forced right now to drink David’s Coke Zero, ick!!!

Just thought I’d share that little boring ol’ story for you but now I promised Sam I would come into work and cut for a bit. Which I am happy about but sucks cuz my pants are too short (due to the chubbyness accumulating on my thighs) and I have a zillion things to get done here but hey, I do get to drive by McDonald’s. Dang it, now all I want to do is open up the cupboard that houses the garbage and get the rest of the peeps that I did not open. Ya, I’m gross but hey, they are sealed!!!

Okay, I must focus…okay, I could settle for the chocolate bunny!  OH and I got a bike, so excited…I so gotta go…bye

Oh….how about some room numbers…564, 15, 2020, 3698

Home Sweet Home

It was such a great Spring Break. I might say the best ever. We went down to WaterSound for a week with 3 other families and just laid in the sun, rode bikes and chatted. It was wonderful. Oh, Oh, oh..and I actually saw a mom and little girl wearing MJC.  For real, I was so dang excited. I wanted to say hi, but it had been a day without a shower and my make-up form the day before. A simple Hi may have turned into a quick fright!

I also ran into the talented Sara Anthony. Once again, I was embarrased. She was gorgeous, sweet and had the 2 most adorable kids toting along side her. Once again, it had been a day without a shower and my make-up from the day before. Seriously, when I pack, I pack very little. Afterall, when I am at home I wear the same clothes for days, so why would vacation be any different. There is no use in fooling myself.

So now that I am home, I need to get this place in shape. I’ve pretty much given up on anymore unpacking. So if it wasn’t the chosen box to be worth a special shelf or whatnot, it remains in a box piled in the corner. David keeps asking me if I am done buying stuff. Truth is, I wish I was but I am not. And I get a huge ache in the pit of my stomach every time I have to order one more thing, but I really do need it. You all need to be comfortable when you come to the Saturday night 435 party. so hey, it’s your fault, and wow, I just came up with a  great excuse to get patio furniture.

Something is up with my email. You guys have sent me the best photos and about 80% of them I cannot open. I can view them but I can’t convert to jpeg. So weird.

Well, I am off to start this Sunday morning with a bang. Lots to do with 435 quickly approaching.  Oh, please know we will not be in Plymouth this summer. With 435 and Dress Rehearsal so close together I am afraid we’d loose our mind plus a few other factors. Chris and I talked about it. When we first started doing art fairs we were just us, then we added help sewing and there was maybe 4-5 of us. I used to cringe when I saw artists at the shows and I know they did not make all their wares but had help from a pretty decent sized staff.  I debated last year on pulling out for that very reason but did not. While it was a fantastic show and we got to meet so many great folk it felt wrong. I was doing exactly what I cringed upon, selling wares made by 15 or more people. Art fairs are a place to buy one of a kind works of art direct form the artist themselves. That is what makes it so cool. It’s not my place nor is it fair to exhibit. But hey, we got 435.

So be sure to put it on your calendar,  June 25-26. We will have a pre-435 party Friday night, all are invited!  And Saturday night we will have an adult only party at our house. And of course Saturday during the day will be the art fair sale at 435.  We have some great new pieces….never seen before…..that will be available.   We have plenty of great events planned too! Just you wait.

And don’t forget:

Send us something that reminds you of Matilda Jane Clothing.  And there are a few requirements. It must fit into a envelope no bigger than  12-1/2″ X 9-1/2″. That is your typical USPS Priority Mail Envelope. It doesn’t have to be a “thing”.  It can be a story, a word, a picture, little pieces of fabric, it can be anything. All entries must be accompanied by a pic of your daughter or you in MJC gear.  And  it does have to be received by us at MJC, attn “Sara S.,  435 E Brackenridge, Fort Wayne IN 46802″. And it has to be received no later than April 30.

The deadline is April 30 because we have to have time to pick the top 10, and then have you pick the winner by mid May so we have time to get the details organized.  For the WINNER?  We are going to bring you and a friend to 2nd annual 435 Art fair.  Yup the entire trip (airfare, car, hotel, food) and then some…..  It’s all on us.  (oh, I’m so excited about this…) NOTE: I dropped the “within U.S.”.  The contest is now open to EVERYONE…within the U.S. or not!

Denise - April 20, 2010 - 5:34 am

ya, confused. In my eyes I kinda see them the same..now did I confuse you?

jami - April 19, 2010 - 10:30 pm

Can it be “What does Matilda Jane remind you of?”
or does it have to be “What reminds you of Matilda Jane?”
Is that confusing??????

sara anthony - April 14, 2010 - 10:10 am

Oh Denise, you looked so cute; even “shower free” you are adorable. I never would have known you weren’t fresh. ;0) I was too excited from having run into you. Glad we finally got to meet.

Jennifer - April 14, 2010 - 7:16 am

Went on a mini vacation with my three children last week…my two daughters love and proudly wear their Matilda Jane…I can’t tell you how many compliments we receieved….love, love, love our new MJ!

Beautifulclothing - April 13, 2010 - 1:55 pm

Thank you for responding to my post Denise!

Beautifulclothing - April 13, 2010 - 1:55 pm

Darn it!!!

Natalie - April 13, 2010 - 12:15 pm

I just made my first Matilda Jane purchase at a trunk show on the 7th.(I think I’m hooked, btw ) Can I still enter the contest if I don’t have a picture of my girls in their darling clothes? Maybe I will receive my order in time to email a picture before the deadline…

Natalie - April 13, 2010 - 12:11 pm

I just bought these same ruffles for my 12 month old. I can’t wait to get them! So cute!

Denise - April 13, 2010 - 5:44 am

Yes, I am sorry to say we are out of keys, it was for the first 5000 customers…

5AmericansInEngland - April 13, 2010 - 1:49 am

I am so glad that you are opening the contest up to people outside the U.S. We are American’s, but my husband is stationed in England, so we live out here. I would soooooooooooooo love to be at 435, but considering a plane ticket cost 1200. to get to the U.S. and back, it’s not in our budget, at all. I will def. submit an entry!! I’m excited!! I have family in Ft. Wayne also!! I am filling out my wishlist of hammond bay and the total is adding up!! oh well, shes growing and needs stuff anyway…right???….lol

Beautifulclothing - April 12, 2010 - 9:18 pm

Denise-I got my MJ order the other day with my adorable Hammond Bay clothing and was disappointed there was no key attached. Are you all out of keys?

Farah - April 12, 2010 - 6:18 pm

We were in Orlando, FL last week, in the morning while standing in the line for the breakfast in the Omelet section I saw a little girl standing in the line with her mommy wearing MJC. I was so happy and I complemented her, her mom and I started chatting and talking about MJC and how crazy we,re about your clothes.
Denise: It felt so spacial to see someone ales sharing the same taste as you.

Denise - April 12, 2010 - 5:58 pm

Hey Katie-
More room keys to come….

Denise - April 12, 2010 - 5:57 pm

Mary Kay-
We cannot guarantee the return of any entry. I wish we could but it I do not want to be responsible for someone dearest belongings!!!

Mary Kay - April 12, 2010 - 1:20 pm

A question about the contest- If I send a self-addressed stamped envelope along with my package, will I be able to get my item returned to me?

Katie M. - April 12, 2010 - 12:29 pm

glad you had a great time! We were in Palm Springs for a few days at my sisters house soaking up some sun and I mostly wore my MJ- GB michelle skirt, HB natalie skirt and my GB finn pants- I was uber comfy but stylin at the same time – oh and no shower and barely any make up for me too- I was too busy hanging out by the pool LOL

Any chance more room key numbers are being called or are we just moving onto the 435 contest? Just wondering if I should keep it out or stash it in the kids pretent play box 🙂

Day to the Oh - April 12, 2010 - 11:13 am

Ha! Don’t you dare ever let a little day sans make-up stop you from saying hello to someone again! We women are so hard on ourselves-SHEESH! 😉 What if that had been me and I came on here and read that… you would have been SOOOO busted! lol Glad you had a nice trip.

J.Diddy - April 12, 2010 - 9:49 am

well, i have been out of commission for a while. That is because my 1 month old son is taking up most of my time! 😉
oh, and funny story on that…he was actually conceived on our road trip up to 435 AF last year. eeeks, did i just admit to that!
anyways, i need to think of something good….definitely want to get to 435 again, but hubby said another 14hour trip is not gonna happen!
Hope all is well with everyone!

Jessica - April 12, 2010 - 6:34 am

I am so excited to see the 3rd release!!! When do you think the website will be updated!

Carol - April 12, 2010 - 5:00 am

My entry is done, it’s sitting on top of the fridge, away from curious little hands – now I just need to get a current pic of my lo! She does not like to ‘try on’ clothes or pose for pix! I tell ya, sometimes I wonder where this child came from! I remember when I was little, my mother would pull out the boxes of the previous year’s summer clothes from under her bed and my sister and I would have a big ‘trying on’ party! My mom still likes to do it! Anytime she has somewhere to go or buys a new outfit, she invites me over for her ‘trying on’ session!

Amber - April 11, 2010 - 11:04 pm

oh wow – now I can enter 🙂 What to send?

Bex - April 11, 2010 - 9:50 pm

Can’t wait to see all the entries. This is my favorite MJC contest.

Terese - April 11, 2010 - 5:42 pm

Welcome back! Oh, I’m sad you won’t be at Plymouth (again?) I understand why though. I’m happy I was able to meet there last Summer. I hope to make it out to 435 sometime! Not this year though – We’re going to be in Michigan in early May while my husbands teaching at a dance conference in the Ukraine, Kiev.

Tessa turned 3 yesterday! She picked an MJ knot dress to wear on her b-day (one of my favs – one of the art fair polka dot apron ones)

mimi - April 11, 2010 - 5:01 pm

Denise, Are you planning on doing the on-line art fair again, my daughter in law and I had the best day, waiting and shopping, so much fun. That info may have already been posted, and I missed it. I love the art fair clothes so much. Glad you had a restful trip. Hey, I thought it was a rule on vacation No Make-up Allowed.[ha]

Laura - April 11, 2010 - 2:27 pm

And I thought I was the only one who went around in yesterday’s make up and no shower. Gabe is so cute. Thanks for sharing the pic.

Elizabeth R. - April 11, 2010 - 1:02 pm

So bummed about the Plymouth Art fair…that is where I fell in love with Matilda Jane.

Amitha - April 11, 2010 - 12:08 pm

Gabe is too cute~ he is getting so big!! I am so glad that you had a wonderful trip. You make me laugh~ it is so true about the clothes. I pack like I am going to be gone for a month and I end up wearing like 3 things the entire trip! LOL

Amy - April 11, 2010 - 11:22 am

So gonna miss you at Plymouth this year! I may just have to head over for 435. Do I dare “settle” for just the MJ that is in the closet?!?! LOL!

gran - April 11, 2010 - 9:31 am

Glad to know of the wonderful week you and your family had. Know you were excited to be coming back to your fantastic new home.

Mary R. - April 11, 2010 - 8:36 am

Glad you had a great vacation!
No worries about the Art Fairs: with growth comes change, and I think for MJC the change has been awesome! :o)

Hope you had a wonderful Easter and are enjoying FL 🙂

Mary Kay - April 8, 2010 - 8:06 am

I wore my very first piece of MJ to work this week — the Lindey Capri and they were a huge hit with staff and students (I am a middle school counselor). You know, Denise, when you have 7th & 8th grade girls telling you they like your pants and asking where can they get a pair — they are a huge hit!!! It made for a super-fun day at work! ….And the contest, Let the games begin…..

Katie M. - April 8, 2010 - 7:24 am

I cant wait- I finialized my idea last night and am on the hunt to gather things today with Molly! Although I think I need to call Kayla- because some of the things are glass- so I need to make sure I can ship things in a box even though they would all fit within the envelope otherwise!
Thanks Denise for doing this again- I hope my idea at least lands us a shot for the finals!

Melanie H. - April 8, 2010 - 7:10 am

Whoo-hoo! Let the fun begin!!
