Sweetest Day, the MJC way….

One of the most wonderful things about Matilda Jane Clothing is the way that so many of you have come together for a common good and made a difference in someone’s life.  Yes, we all love the clothing, but Matilda Jane is so much more than just that.   Collectively, with the efforts of our customers, Matilda Jane has been able to touch so many people for so many reasons.  The impact our our combined efforts and generosity has been felt through our many Spread the Love campaigns and our various fund raisers for Amber’s family, Val’s family, and Sara’s family.   Also, with the help of our wonderful customer base by our side, our Turnstone projects and our Habitat for Humanity involvement has deeply impacted so many over the past few years.  Together we are making a difference.

Well, this weekend is no different.  And for the first time, we are trying to help someone who is very, very close to Matilda Jane.  This weekend we have the opportunity to reach out and help a very special person that has been instrumental in executing Matilda Jane’s charitable efforts for other people and events in the past. Chelsa DeMarchis, whom many of you have likely spoken to on the phone, met at Art Fair, or seen on the blog or facebook, has worked at Matilda Jane for almost 2 years now.  She works side by side with Lynette and the office staff in assisting Trunk Keepers and providing some of the best customer service imagined.  She is also Denise and David’s sister-in-law (married to David’s brother Daniel).  She is the force that brightens the day of so many with her upbeat, sparkling personality and her radiant smile.

Some of you are familiar with Chelsa’s current health condition and have been sharing your thoughts and prayers on a regular basis, but many of you may not know the challenges that have been facing Chelsa for the past couple of years.  About two years ago, at the young age of 34, Chelsa was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.  As the mother of two young boys (a newborn and 3 year old at the time), the news was devastating.  Chelsa fought it like a soldier and underwent chemo, radiation, and surgery.  After living cancer free for about a year, the cancer returned with vengeance and spread to lymph nodes, her lower vertebrae, her hip bone, and now her liver.   While the prognosis is still unknown, Chelsa and Daniel need help.  So many people have been asking for ideas on how they can reach out to help and support Chelsa and her family.  Our wonderful Trunk Keepers have come up with the following idea:  This Sweetest Day’s weekend, October 20th and 21st, participating Trunk Keepers have pledged to donate half of their commissions to Chelsa’s family.  The goal is to provide Chelsa with money to make up for lost wages while she is fighting this battle and to help offset her ever-mounting medical bills.  And with Sweetest Day being Saturday, October 20th, what a sweet way to help out a very dear member of the MJC team.

So, for those first, second, or third release items that you’ve been holding off on purchasing until later, or if you would like to start your holiday shopping early while touching the life of someone who is cherished by so many….contact your Trunk Keeper and place that order this weekend knowing that, collectively, we can all make a huge difference.

Thank you to all of our wonderful Trunk Keepers for this amazing act of generosity.  And thank you to all of our beautiful customers for your involvement in this very special event.

-Love, MJC

Thank you *so* much, indeed, to all our ever so wonderful, generous TKs & MJC for this opportunity to help out someone so very dear to all of us customers Once Chelsa helped me with something, & I found her to be extremely kind, helpful & simply delightful. I have tears welling up in my eyes right now; I have had a couple of women in my family affected by breast cancer -one of them at age 32 & while pregant w/ her 2nd child, nonetheless-, & it truly is devastating to so many, in so many ways -physically, emotionally, financially, just to name a few-. If there ever is *anything* else we can do, please let us know. We *love* you, Chelsa!

Chelsa,
You can do it, girl!!!!! I should know……I was also 34 yrs old with two small children when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Positive mental attitude is half the battle! I know you have that, because I have seen you before at Art Fair and you had such a wonderful personality, constant beautiful smile, and such a sweet calmness about you. Stay strong and rock on! I will keep you in my prayers!

Look at her, she’s rocking that bandana! What a beautiful, peaceful smile she has. Will say a prayer for her, would give anything to be able to order this weekend, but it isn’t in the cards for me at this time…… :-(
