5 Ways to Spend Your Snow Day

One of our favorite childhood memories is undoubtably is the feeling of your parents waking you up to tell you school is cancelled and you have a snow day. Snow days give us a sense of nostalgia to this day. We may not be making snowmen and igloos all day like we did as elementary schoolers, but we still feel that excitement just the same. Want to make the most of your snow days this winter? Here are a few of our favorite activities!

#1 Cuddle up for a movie marathon

After the chaos of the holidays, a relaxing snow day may be just what you need to reset for the new year. Put on your coziest jammies and cuddle up on the couch for an all-day movie marathon. You know what pairs perfectly with a movie day? Those leftover holiday treats!

#2 Kickstart your spring cleaning

Sometimes you really need to take advantage of an unexpected day at home. Kickstart your spring cleaning with a little reorganization! Pick a space, like your closet, and take everything out. Then only keep the things that you actually wear and get rid of everything else. You can donate your gently used clothing, all while tidying up your space. We call that a win/win!

#3 Whip up a new recipe

Can you think of anything more comforting than a hot bowl of soup on a cold, snowy day? We can’t either! Time to bring out your slow cooker (or maybe try out that new Instant Pot!) to whip up a new soup recipe. You’ll have plenty of leftovers for the rest of the week, plus you’ll get the added bonus of smelling the delicious soup cooking all day long!

#4 Craft with your kiddos

You know all of those DIY projects you have saved on your Pinterest board? Snow days are the perfect time to knock one or two of these out! Choose a project that your kiddos can get involved with and craft together. You’ll make something new for your home and regardless of how it turns out, you’ll make some memories along the way, too!

#5 Plan your next getaway

Although the chill of winter has spring feeling farther away than ever, it always has a way of sneaking up on us. Whether you’re thinking about a spring break trip or summer vacation, it’s never too early to start planning! Start researching locations, Airbnbs, flights and activities. You can set up flight notifications to alert you when prices drop and even score discounts on sites like Groupon! Once you choose your location, you’ll want to start mapping out your packing list!

Staying in our pjs all day, playing in the snow and sledding down the hill with all our neighbors then coming inside to drink hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Building blanket forts and watching movies while mom makes pot roast or soup for dinner.

It’s all around cozy!
