A little Fate, Magic and Serendipity

A few days ago someone on FB asked  “Why did you choose the name Serendipity” or maybe they asked “Where did the name come from?”  Either way, it’s the same question huh? Well, the story is actually quite an entertaining one.

Last February,  Lynette, Sam, Kacey, Chris and I set out to Las Vegas to meet up with Pan and her girls. The plane was filled with chatter about the Spring Line and what we were going to name it. We had ideas but nothing concrete. The hotel room was filled with giggles and of course crazy ideas from Miss Chris. One night,  we were all craving hamburgers and walked down the street to see what we could find. I mean it had to be the perfect juicy, ketchup dripping hamburger with a nice soft steamed bun. We ended up at the most darling of all places, Serendipity. As we waited on the outside porch all shivering together, laughing and being goofy girls, it hit us…the line needs to be called Serendipity. I loved it from the get go.

But what really sealed the deal as we went back to the hotel room, bellies full, ready to crawl in bed and watch a good movie was what we saw on the screen. Yup, flipped maybe 2 channels and you guessed it?! Serendipity was on! You know, the movie with John Cusack. What was the chance of that! Sam jumped out of bed “IT’S FATE!” Maybe not fate, but quite the ‘happy accident’ which is another meaning for Serendipity. It totally sealed the deal and now 1 full year later we get to show you what it is all about.

And serendipity means happy accident or pleasant surprise. Appropriate for this line – though not really an accident more a surprise. Can’t wait to see it all!

“Serendipity” is one of those words that you can’t say without grinning a little (or a lot) and, for some reason, reminds me of lots of other great words that have a great nostalgic ring to them. Like “halcyon”… 😉
