Matilda Jane is all about keeping a little girl a little girl, as well as encouraging brilliant minds and kind hearts. Our goal is to bring confidence to every girl because girls with dreams become women with vision (one of our favorite quotes!).
I could not only talk about Penny all day, but I could talk TO Penny all day. This 3-year-old is a firecracker, her mind is so full of ideas and her imagination is always running wild. But there is a reason for that. About a year ago Penny and her parents discovered there was something wrong. After a terrible fall and numerous doctor and specialist visits, they diagnosed Penny with both Occipital Epilepsy and Chiari 1 Malformation. This scary diagnosis started to consume their lives, but instead of it running their lives they turned it into something greater. Penny’s mom, Leslie Pettit, started to join Facebook groups and chat rooms talking to other moms and soon realized she wanted to make an impact on the community. Leslie and her husband Ian came up with a plan, a logo, and way to give back.
The Brave Bambino is more than just a t-shirt to raise awareness. The Pettits also wanted a way to give back, so a percentage of the proceeds for each tee purchased goes to fund research. I love reading their blog and learning about their journey – it’s heartbreaking, but oh so encouraging. This family is solid, and because of their passion and love we were moved to take part. Penny is not a stranger to MJC and Platinum…she has been rocking Knot Dresses and MAF tees since day one, so it only made sense that we made a special dress just for her.
Tomorrow you will see this special design, along with other pieces inspired by all the smart girls in the MJC family. In addition, a portion of the upload’s proceeds will go to Brave Bambino to support Penny and the foundation.
