A Sand Bucket Full of Anticipation

Lots of anticipation is brewing! I can feel it….but guess what? So I got to read The Sandbucket form front to back!  Seriously, it is such a breath of fresh air.  Ha, it should be on the news cuz all those regular stories get depressing a bit. The Sandbucket is full of just good stuff that will make your heart full.  I’ll even give you permission to make fun of my interview, which I think is kinda fun. Oh, so fun cuz it reminds me so much of growing up with my  brother Doug. I LOVE HIM! I love all of my family but this interview just reminded me lots of Doug.

Ha, I just realized there is also something in the above phot0 that reminds me so much of someone I LOVE beyond words. You’ll have to look good. But for a random 10 of you who can name what it is and who the person is behind the memory I’ll give you each my favorite Serendipity outfit.

Kylie L - January 31, 2012 - 3:46 pm

It reminds you of your BROTHER DOUG? Maybe yall used to dig for starfish or sea shells growing up?? Reminds me of digging for shells with my mom on Hilton Head Island Beach as a kid, sad I am not able to enjoy that with her anymore but maybe this summer I can continue the tradition with my daughter.

If we are guessing for the very top picture, then I would have to definitely say the penny necklace reminds you of your grandpa. OR how about the cup and saucer on the pile of books reminding you of your grandma.

Laine Yount - January 31, 2012 - 10:44 am

I’d say the depression cup and saucer reminds you of your grandmother…can’t wait to see the rest of serendipity!!

Natalie - January 31, 2012 - 10:41 am

I felt bad going to bed last night after my comment of Gabe being your little superstar and leaving out Joe. So I have to add Joe to the comment… Or how about the starfish for Joe, your big superstar!

LMC123 - January 31, 2012 - 10:39 am

yoga_lat_te - January 31, 2012 - 10:28 am

The person is your Grandpa Larry …. The item … hmmm … is either the “Penny Neckless” Sam is wearing …, or, (I know … this is totally out-there, as I always am …) if it is a figure skate that the other gorgeous girl (in the other gorgeous dress!) is wearing, then that reminded you of him because he and your Grandma Phyllis would turn a field across the street into a skating rink, and he would also offer to sharpen your and your friends’ skates …?

Rach - January 31, 2012 - 10:24 am

Penny necklace and your grandpa.

Celine D - January 31, 2012 - 9:52 am

maryanne helms - January 31, 2012 - 9:44 am

I am going to guess that the pink bucket is likely a throw-back to memories of childhood. And as you referenced in an earlier post, perhaps a special memory linked to your sister. The photos all symbolize the joy and security of childhood. The creating of memories.

Your clothing does the same: allows awesome, colorful memories to be created!

I honestly do not have a clue, I have tried numerous times to figure out your challenges and never have any luck… But I will take a longshot guess. The little kitty cat, Dont you have one? I forget its name… you hardly post pictures of him/her anymore since Franklin is around. Maybe it made you think of your cat? Or The vintage depression tea set, belongs to your grandmother. And its your favorite, That is why you included it in the shoot???

Alanna - January 31, 2012 - 8:04 am

I am not sure which photo to comment on. I see that Sam has on a penny necklace that your Grandpa made and I am sure that reminds you of him and his generosity and how he loves to make things for others.

Then there is the starfish that might remind you of Joe because he is such a star at rockin’ all the talents God gave him.

Either way, memories of family are always great…

(we “saved” it and tossed it back in the water) Did one of your boys find one at the beach too? It’s funny how the small things make the memory. Can wait for tomorrow! 🙂

Trudy Cihak - January 31, 2012 - 5:45 am

Annie - January 31, 2012 - 4:22 am

I think I see one of those Coquinas shells–the ones that stay connected so they look like butterfly. It reminds me of shells at Sanibel/Captiva. I’m semi-new to following your blog, so I’m not sure who it reminds you of. I’ll guess your brother Doug.

Shevaun - January 31, 2012 - 4:18 am

Tracy Dupaquier - January 31, 2012 - 2:56 am

Going out on a limb here, but in the sandbox pic is there the ever so faintest image of a peanut nestled in front of the shell on the right?? Does it remind you of your awesome hubby and his love for hockey? Do they even eat peanuts at the games?

🙂
Tracy

Natalie O'Loughlin - January 31, 2012 - 2:37 am

Jamie S - January 31, 2012 - 1:04 am

If you look really close, there is a reflection of sunlight on the sand bucket. I’m going to go with that and say Sam because she is just a big ball of sunshine 🙂

marla k - January 31, 2012 - 1:01 am

Starfish touching remind you of trips to the beach with your sister, Sandi…

Danielle Storm - January 31, 2012 - 12:01 am

I am guessing that in the formost shell looks like there maybe a face on it with eyes looking down but with a big smile. Maybe it is the look that you Grandpa would look at you like if you were sitting on his lap! I know that I have good memories sitting on my grandpa’s lap and how he always smelled like walnuts!

Kristin - January 31, 2012 - 12:01 am

Wild guess here – the bucket handle & franklin?? 😀

Maria - January 30, 2012 - 11:34 pm

The starfish are holding hands-it reminds you of your youngest son Gabe.

Kristy W. - January 30, 2012 - 11:30 pm

There appears to be a shadow of a child dancing / playing / posing as a starfish behind the bucket. 🙂 My guess is that the shadow is from either Gabe and/or Joe.

Kindra - January 30, 2012 - 11:27 pm

I’ve been buying MJ for over three years and for some reason I’m thinking it is the starfish and seashells and memories of your Grandpa. Maybe, or am I just dreaming that up???

Alicia S - January 30, 2012 - 11:21 pm

Footprints…Dave

Amy - January 30, 2012 - 11:12 pm

I think it is the clouds moving out and the sun coming up again reminding you of your #6 and how she has been able to see past the clouds and forward to a new beginning 🙂 Congratulations to her!!

Sandy - January 30, 2012 - 11:09 pm

Can’t wait for Serendipity!! Here’s my guess – sea shells and starfish remind you of special treasures that your Grandpa makes. =)

Christina Albrigo-DAloisio - January 30, 2012 - 11:02 pm

I’m thinking the starfish, and your super-star little men! I wish I had one, I only have girls!

Anne M - January 30, 2012 - 11:02 pm

For me right off the bat, the star reminds me of Joe. I can go into a whole mushy tale of why but I have my ear infected child wanting her back tickled so she can sleep. Only so much typing with one hand.
Goodnight.

Kim Simmons - January 30, 2012 - 10:57 pm

The Sand Bucket reminds you of your sister Sandi?

Sarah Long-Bachert - January 30, 2012 - 10:51 pm

Well, I’m stumped. But I’ll say shells/starfish & Joe 🙂

Schaneon - January 30, 2012 - 10:47 pm

I have no clue, but the shell on the right looks like it has eyes, a long nose and little crab claws. How’s that for random? 😉

Maria Bellot - January 30, 2012 - 10:47 pm

I have no idea, wish I knew!!!

Kelly Corpuz - January 30, 2012 - 10:45 pm

You and your sister had a pink sandbucket that you used to fight over! Ha! That’s something that sounds reasonable, as my sister and I used to fight over the pink stuff! 🙂

Kelsey Bendixen - January 30, 2012 - 10:44 pm

The shells and starfish remind you of your grandpa!

Liza Simonian - January 30, 2012 - 10:44 pm

Since you said we have to look at it good, I’m not going for the obvious!
There looks like a shadow of an ‘S’ shape beside the bucket, so I’m going to say your son Sam 🙂

Echo Perlman - January 30, 2012 - 10:44 pm

Have you heard of the starfish story?

The Starfish Story
Original Story by: Loren Eisley

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed
a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, What are you doing?
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean.
The surf is up and the tide is going out.  If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die”.
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish?
You can’t make a difference!”
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish,
and threw it back into the surf.  Then, smiling at the man, he said
“I made a difference for that one”.

I’m going to guess that you love each and every one of us, who love MJ, who welcome you in to our families. You make a difference to us and we love you, too!

Summer Birchall - January 30, 2012 - 10:37 pm

Your cute grandpa and the penny necklace the girl is wearing in that amazing green dress!!!

amy s - January 30, 2012 - 10:37 pm

Tough one….grandfather and the shells!

Jennifer McAfee - January 30, 2012 - 10:37 pm

starfish & you’re sweet Grandpa…. just like everytime i see a rainbow, i know my Granny is with me… the day of my Granny’s funeral it was pouring rain but when we got to the graveside to say our goodbyes the rain stopped & a rainbow appeared… i knew that she was still with me… oh how i love that memory!!!

Rechelle Christie - January 30, 2012 - 10:35 pm

This may be a long shot, but the starfish looks like it is held up with a straw, and I know you love McDonald’s drinks (with straws). So does the straw remind you of McDonald’s and Sam McDonald? 🙂

Susie Clark - January 30, 2012 - 10:35 pm

If you were talking about the pic above the sand bucket. The backdrops reminds me of something you would have painted with your sunshine Sara Brown….

Tamaryn - January 30, 2012 - 10:35 pm

Bracelets the girls are wearing are similar to crafts you grandfather liked to do.

Susie Clark - January 30, 2012 - 10:32 pm

Bucket for your sister nickname, Bucket, Sand, Sands…I believe your brother use to tease her with this nickname…. 😉

Melanie - January 30, 2012 - 10:31 pm

yes, when you were surprised with the starfish Charlynn by your goddaughter!!! 🙂 What a sweet memory!! 🙂

Natalie - January 30, 2012 - 10:14 pm

OKay, so what picture are we talking about? The bucket or the Serendipity teaser?

Donna W - January 30, 2012 - 10:13 pm

If you look really close on the shell on the right you can see the image of LumIere from Beauty and the Beast which then naturally reminds you of the Beast, a.k.a. Gabe. How’s that for looking really good??

Jen - January 30, 2012 - 10:12 pm

I am going to say your husband David, because of the starfish reminds me of a star, the North Star to be specific. The star that guides you home.

Sarah - January 30, 2012 - 10:12 pm

I am going to have to go with the starfish and your Grandfather! Mostly admittedly a guess but since my Grandpa lives in Hawaii it reminds me of mine. 🙂

Natalie - January 30, 2012 - 10:10 pm

I so wish I could come up with this one… How about the star fish and Gabe, your little superstar? or The Shell with those big puppy dog eyes, looking like your puppy? Or How about the pink bucket with that handle looking like the big smile of your best friend. Okay, last guess…it’s your hubby, David, and the sand reminds you of that special trip you took to the beach!

Joann E - January 30, 2012 - 10:09 pm

Sandi!!!! She was nicknamed Bucket by her brother and sisters 🙂

Ben Perlman - January 30, 2012 - 10:08 pm

I’m going to have to go with the starfish. I’m not sure who the person behind the memory is, but that starfish reminds me of Patrick the starfish…you know…SpongeBob’s best friend? I know I’m wrong, but I would imagine it generally follows the whole Serendipity theme, because reading Patrick’s bio….I think the discoveries he makes are purely by chance.

So…The starfish…Patrick…Spongebob’s buddy. Right?

ABass - January 30, 2012 - 10:07 pm

The sand, spring break, and you family. (David & boys)

bridget hansen - January 30, 2012 - 10:07 pm

Mary Efflandt - January 30, 2012 - 10:00 pm

I’ll never guess correctly, so I’m going to with the unicorn and Rainbow Brite. 🙂

Michelle Lynch - January 30, 2012 - 10:00 pm

I get so flustered with contests but i’ll give it a whirl. I’m wanting to say the starfish (or shells) and time spent with your brother Doug:) but i also want to say your boys and David and the recent family getaway you shared?

Kristen T. - January 30, 2012 - 9:57 pm

Well, all the pictures are great, but I am going to go with the sanddollar reminding you of your sweet grandpa! 🙂 (p.s…my niece still has that precious necklace he made)! 🙂

Hope Boyce - January 30, 2012 - 9:57 pm

The interview is fantastic – you made me nervous with all the pre-interview nerves … and then you just gave us permission to make fun of it! The most delightful surprise! Your interviewer!! She is totally presh – how could you not smile all the way through! The pictures are perfect! BTW, I love the entire magazine!

Ashley - January 30, 2012 - 9:56 pm

And my daughter Mya says it the new line Serendipity!!! 2 more
sleeps!

Charlotte - January 30, 2012 - 9:56 pm

I noticed the shadows – behind the bucket and under the bucket handle and I am going to guess a memory with some loved family member (maybe you and your darling sons) playing with y’alls shadows because my two girls and I do this all the time – in fact just this week we were making our shadows hold hands!! 🙂

Jenny B. - January 30, 2012 - 9:56 pm

The starfish & Your grandma.

Hope Boyce - January 30, 2012 - 9:56 pm

Jessica - January 30, 2012 - 9:41 pm

Sandi, and the Sandbucket magazine and her nickname of sandi bucket

Courtney Wilson - January 30, 2012 - 9:40 pm

I’m going to have to guess Sara Brown. It was first instinct, but I know you went to the beach with her and you call her your “sunshine.” Excited for Wednesday!

April crouch - January 30, 2012 - 9:40 pm

Not sure what it is but something is hiding behind the starfish. Possibly a Lego…which would remind you of your son?

Sarah Lewis - January 30, 2012 - 9:39 pm

Well for starters the shells look like eyes & the handle is the mouth (it’s smiling!)
But I’m thinking either Sandi or your grandad – but it could be your sweet boys too. Time spent with them are sweet memories for you.

I don’t know if I’m even close, but I can’t wait to see it all & figure out how in the world I’m going to find the funds to outfit my girl in her favorite clothes (the only line we both love equally – that’s huge -THANK YOU!)

Mindy - January 30, 2012 - 9:30 pm

Your blog on Turnstone and your son playing on the beach. I always remember that picture! It was beautiful. I am a pediatric occupational therapist and work with so many kids with autism and I was inspired to get one of the Joe’s turn bags. I refreshed all day that week because I wanted one so badly because of the money being donated to that organization and to help children with autism.

Takes me back to my Trapper Keeper in the 80’s.
