An MJC Character: Ann

Finally! We’ve settled into a routine in the Platinum department, we’re getting back into our weekly blogging groove, and Character Counts is slowly but surely sneaking up on us. What better way to kick things off than a mini-series of Meet the MJC Characters! We always joke about how we should have our own TV show around here and who would be what reality show character- so Carrie and I (Desi) will be tag-teaming to give ya’ll a sneak peek into the lives of our own lovable cast. First up: Ann!

Ann (with no “e”) is her name, and being an MJC packer is her game! Ann joined us right before Field Trip launched and has been here for two whole years now. I remember meeting her briefly as she was being hired and I was in my last week of being an intern- and look at us now! Although her official job title is a “Packer”, Ann says that her favorite job is actually probably pulling orders. She did clarify that today pulling was not her favorite because of all of the extra running around we’re making her do by moving House of Clouds to Good Luck Trunk!

Ann says that her best quality is her friendliness, and that she is able to have a conversation with just about anyone. This is completely true! She always is able to find something in common with everyone that she meets, and she ALWAYS does what she can to brighten your day if she knows you’re having a down-in-the-dumps kind of day. But Ann’s kindness does not just stop with her fellow co-workers and friends, she is one of the most passionate people about animals that we know! She has two dogs and two cats of her own, but she said she wouldn’t even want a skunk to die- now that is a true animal lover! We always get to hear about the antics of her hilarious cats- Cuddles and Jumping Jack Flash, or Jack for short. And her dogs, Joy- a perfect Afghan/Golden Retriever mix and Lucky- a Chinese Crested (who got his name because he is lucky to be alive), are both pretty lucky if you ask us. On lunch break Ann will often go home to check on her babies and make sure they have fresh food and water. She says that her dream would be to have a sanctuary for animals- we don’t know that anyone else would be better for the job!

Ann is a pretty busy woman and actually has another job that she has been at for 10 years where she works in the office of a mobile home community-talk about dedication! But in the little bit of spare time she does have,  Ann loves to work in her garden and shop. We asked who was a character from a movie or book that she could relate to, and she said she couldn’t think of one, but she likes to read Stephen King and V.C. Andrews books. Two other books she’s recently been reading are 101 Recipes for Pancake Mix and 101 Recipes for Bacon. She says that her favorite recipe so far has been a cheddar drop biscuit made using pancake mix, and I (Desi) have to say, this sounds pretty stinkin good right about now! One last little known fact about Ann is that she HATES the color green! Does anyone remember the Myrtle Madness Monday party we had last winter when we all wore our Myrtle ruffles and had a carry-in with only green food? Let’s just say that wasn’t Ann’s favorite day!

There is soooo much more behind this incredible lady, but we’re all outta time for today! We’ll be back next Friday with the next edition of MJC Characters- but we want to know, what do YOU want to hear about? Leave us your questions in the comments and we’ll be sure to work them into our next interview!

AND….Please do not miss the blog post that is before this one! Sara is one of our favorite people around here, and we want to be sure there are as many people as possible sending out prayers, hope, and love to this amazing family!

Happy Weekend!

Love,

Carrie & Desi

Ann is a sweetie … I sent her a b-day treat and got a presh thank you!

I love hearing about all of you, but also post birthdays or special events – I like to show you how special surprises are by turning the tables.

As soon as you said “She HATES the color green”, I immediately said to myself “Wait a second, I remember she wore Myrtles in that group photo.” She must have been making some kind of “Am I really doing this?” kind of face for me to remember that she was in that pic wearing them…LOL 🙂 Now that is dedications ladies..ha!

Love the behind the scenes peek into Mjc. What I really love though, is a fellow animal lover!

And, I’d like to add that Ms Ann showed me how to sew on a button correctly and at record speed! 🙂
