Q: Please tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from and where are you now?
A: I am from a small town outside of Martinsville VA (race town) Ridgeway VA. Born and raised here I moved away several years during my time in the military and came back to home sweet home.
Q: How did you meet and fall in love with your husband?
A: Well he says its “fate” the day I got to Germany he had just gotten back from Iraq and our country accents brought us together lol. He said he had prayed for someone like me. So we became friends them married going on 8 years this year.
Q: What about those gorgeous babies??? Tell us about them.
A: My oldest is Dayton he is 7 years old. He is my little man always doing what is right. Next is my 5 year old Noah whew he is a mess always keeps me on my toes. I FINALLY got my princess Presley she is 2 going on 16 prissy as can be and loves her “Tilda Jane”.
Q: What did you do in your previous life? Pre-Matilda Jane?
A: I was in the military for 4 years and then I went to college and I am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant part time in the school system.
Q: What is your favorite part of working for Matilda Jane?
A: Well I just started and it’s so fun to spread the LOVE of Matilda Jane. I have been buying for my princess since she was 6 months old and decided to apply to be a TK. I love Matilda Jane and it’s so much more than just clothes! I think it makes all little girls feel special and beautiful.
Q: If you could wear one item every day, what would that be?
A: Well I hate to say it but if I am being honest probably good ole pajamas. Every day as soon as I get home I break out the sweats.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: I would love to grow my Matilda Jane business so I can be with my children more I want my area to see how AMAZING these beautiful clothes are and the heart behind the name is so much more.
Q: What are your favorite blogs or websites you visit EVERY day?
A: Well I do visit Facebook every day to keep up with old friends and that is about it.
Q: Besides your children, what has your greatest accomplishment been thus far?
A: I would have to say my time in the military. I wanted to get away from a small town and see the world. I got to travel to several places overseas. A lot of people didn’t think I could do it but that made me so much stronger. I met some amazing people while I was in. I am proud to have served.
Q: Share with us just ONE very important thing you do to try to leave this world a better place.
A: I really do believe in putting your whole heart into whatever you do. I love my job as an Occupational therapist I treat the patients I work with as if it’s my own kids or my grandmother, because that IS someone’s child or grandmother.
Q: What is your favorite holiday and why?
A: I love Christmas I love everything about it the cold weather, the gifts, smiles on people’s faces, helping families in need it’s just such a loving time.
Q: How have you learned to balance life with the many, many hats you wear?
A: It’s hard sometimes. I pray A LOT. I have help from family and friends and it just all seems to work.
Q: What is the most valuable lesson you hope to instill in your children?
A: I want them to always put God first I don’t know where I would be today if I hadn’t had God in my life I have prayed and been prayed out of situations and I just want them to know that there is ALWAYS someone there to listen.
Q: Salty or sweet?
A: Salty then sweet. I have to have potato chips then a piece of candy.
Q: What do you love most about having kids?
A: It feels good to know that someone always loves you and no matter what you have done you can look in their eyes and see the love. Kids are the most precious thing in the world I just can’t describe all the love I have for them.
Q: If you could have lunch with any celebrity, who would you choose and why?
A: I love Reece Witherspoon she has been my favorite celebrity for a long time. She is a true southern girl I love her style and I think we would have a lot to talk about.
Q: If you could have Sam design any item for Matilda Jane, what would it be and why?
A: Ruffles and a cool cardigan those are my favorite MJC items!
Q: Lastly, in the spirit of Heart~Soul~Pride, what in your opinion is the most important form of character?
A: Honesty and Integrity. People will always remember you for these things.
