Q:  Please tell us a bit about yourself.  Where are you from and where are you now?

A: Hi everyone! My name is Kayla ONeal and I was born and raised right here in Lake Charles, LA! I married the love of my life in 2008 and we moved to Baton Rouge for a few years but moved back home right before our first daughter was born to be closer to family. Since then we have grown by one baby girl, 2 dogs, 1 mini horse and 8 chickens!

Q:  How did you meet and fall in love with your husband?

A: I have known my husband my entire life. Our moms are childhood best friends so I grew up with his mom saying I would marry one of her 4 boys…just never thought it would be the oldest one since we are 6 years apart.

In June of 2007, a very special lady in my life, my Nanny, passed away and David was my rock. It was during one of the worst times of my life that God showed me the man I would spend the rest of my life with. We married the following October and this year will make 5 years! I couldn’t have asked for a better husband, friend, supporter, provider, or daddy to our 2 girls! God did a good job with this one!

Q:  My favorite thing to talk about is my kids.  Tell us about YOURS.

A: That just so happens to be my favorite thing to talk about as well! My precious Isla Rose is 3 years old and is wise beyond her years! She amazes me every day with how smart she is and what she can think up!  She is oh so shy and tenderhearted, in fact, one of her very first phrases was “You hurt my heart!”  She currently lives in Fairytale land and truly believes that she is a Princess.

My sweet Lainey Jane is 1 and a half years old and is our baby doll! She is ALWAYS smiling and will steal your heart with her big blue eyes and dimples! She is also our daredevil and part monkey! She was climbing before she was walking! She definitely keeps us on our toes but is THE sweetest baby you will ever meet!

They are complete opposites but are best friends! I love to see how much they love each other!

Q:  What did you do in your previous life?  Pre-Matilda Jane?

A:  Before I started working for Matilda Jane I was a stay at home mom! So happy to have a job that allows me to be at home with my girls!

Q:  How did Matilda Jane find YOU?

A:  I discovered Matilda Jane through a local photographer and could not wait until Isla was old enough to fit in it. I had bought some past collections pieces on ebay and was so excited when Serendipity had some smaller sizes!! I started hosting in home trunk shows and then during Character Counts, Caitlin started talking to me about becoming a Trunk keeper! Good Hart was my first season and I have enjoyed it so much!

Q:  Who on this earth has been the number one influence in your life?

A:  That’s hard to just choose one because my parents hold a tie in the number one spot! I have two of the best parents out there! They have taught me the importance of God, love and family and were living examples of how marriage should be. I never once as a child doubted their love for me or their love for each other. That alone is so important, especially in today’s world.

Q:  What are 5 words your friends would use to describe you?

A:  Well I hope they would say that I am loving, happy, crafty, caring, and giving.

Q:  What do you think is the greatest invention of all time?

A:  Definitely the camera!! I LOVE taking pictures of our kids and having our pictures taken by our photographer!! My husband has grown to accept it and smile through our many photo shoots! Its so special to me to be able to look back at photographs and experience the very same feelings you were having when they were taken. I cannot look at pictures of my girl’s births without being taken back to that day and crying my eyes out!

Q:  Chocolate or Vanilla?

A:  both! I love swirl soft serve!

Q:  Besides your family, what are you most passionate about?

A:  Probably animals!! I have a soft spot for animals and always looking for one to rescue, especially dogs!

Q:  If you could crawl into the pages of any book, what would it be and why?

A:  That’s a tough one! I used to be such a bookworm before I had my girls! If I were to try and read a book now, I doubt I would make it 10 pages before falling asleep.

Q:  Good Hart is a special place for Denise.  What place do you hold dear to your heart?

A:  I would have to say Lake Charles, LA…right where we are at now. We have so many special memories here. It is where we both were born, had our first date, where the majority of our family lives, the place both of our daughters were born and the place we want them to grow up. We love everything about living in South Louisiana!

well i, like every mumma, love matilda jane, as does my daughter so we would love a dress! more importantly… one of my closest friends has two lovely daughters. the youngest one was diagnosed with leukemia before she turned 2 years old! its been a rough couple of years of treatment but im so excited to say she is in remission! my daughter is 8 so we are able to give her girls all of our things which we just love to do! i have never seen such appreciative little girls… no matter how old something is, if it has a stain or its not their favourite colour, they love it anyway and are so thankful! they run to put things on when we are skyoing to show us how it looks! it just warms my heart so much… a single mum with two girls, one recently recovered from a very serious illness just doesnt have the time or the money to buy a matilda jane dress but i know it would make the girls and their mumma so happy! you can read more about avas story here http://rowetimson.com/2010/03/avas-journey/ and here http://rowetimson.com/2010/03/waiting/ and here http://rowetimson.com/2011/03/avas-journey-2 . thanks so much for the opportunity!

Though I didn’t advance to the next round I couldn’t be more proud to share these images & video. I’m honored to be included this far and grateful for these beautiful memories I will cherish forever. A HUGE thank you to my wonderful Husband for believing in me enough to build a boat and lug it through three feet of mud and back out when it was twice as heavy from soaking up water) I’d also like to thank my Mom for being such a special part of my life. I strive to be half the Mom to my girls that mine is to me!
