Introducing:

Ashley McCoy of Madisonville, KY

Favorite Place:

Oxford, MS

Q:  Hey there, you know the drill.  Tell us your basic info.

A: Well, Hello there!  I’m Ashley McCoy from Madisonville, Kentucky.  I attended the University of Mississippi (a family tradition), where I majored in Fashion Merchandising. Once I graduated in December 2001, I returned home. I started working at my family business, the Dr Pepper Bottling Company, where I’m currently the vice president.  My husband and I got married in 2003.  In 2006, we had our precious daughter Morgan Haley. Then to round out the family, we also have our 9 year old Welsh terrier, Bayleigh and our 2 year old duck hunting chocolate lab, Dixie.

Q:  I always love to hear how people met and fell in love with their spouse.  Do share.

A:  Apparently, Shane and I were in Mother’s Day Out together, but who really knows someone when they are 3.  Fast forward to junior high, this is our first memory of being friends.  We were in the same eighth grade class, but it wasn’t until my last semester at Ole Miss that we started dating.  We came home for Easter that year, starting talking and emailing each other, and then during summer break, we had our first date.  Two years later we got married, and this year we are celebrating our ten year wedding anniversary!

Q:  How many kiddos do you have?  Give us a little glimpse into who they are.

A:  We have one daughter Morgan, she is 6 ½ and in the first grade.  She is a fun loving little girl, who loves to dance and stand on her head. No joke, she loves gymnastics and is constantly using the furniture anyway she can to stand on her head or to do some other crazy thing she makes up.   Morgan also competes on a hip hop dance team.  She LOVES to read!  She is also very creative, and would take art supplies over toys any day.   Best of all she is so silly, she keeps us laughing constantly! She is our world!

Q:  How long have you been with Matilda Jane and when did you know you wanted to be a Trunk Keeper?

A:  I just started as a Trunk Keeper in January 2013, but I’m far from new to Matilda Jane; I went to my first trunk show in February of 2008, when Morgan was around 18 months old. There I met Leslie Wills, and fell in love with MJC & the homegrown collection! I soon started having a show of my own.  After the first one, I knew, it would be something I would enjoy.  Now many years later, and I’m loving every minute of it!

Q:  What do you think is the greatest invention of all time?

A: The greatest invention would have to be the camera! I love pictures! Currently, my iPhone has 2,795 pictures and 157 videos. Is that crazy? My husband thinks so!

Q:  What special talent do you wish you possessed?

A: I wish that I could carry a note, to sing! All my friends laugh and tell me I know every word to every song, (I just have a good memoryJ) but no one, including myself, would want to actually hear all those “words” sang out loud!

Q:  Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

A:  My parents!  They have been such wonderful role models for me.  I have learned so much from them, I couldn’t begin to tell you everything.  My mother, the southern belle and my dad, a hard working business man; together they have most definitely prepared me for life! Thank you mom & dad!

Q:  If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would that be and where would you go?

A:  I would have lunch with my daughter, Morgan, at her school cafeteria.  I don’t get there very often, but it amazes me what joy it brings her and her friends for parents to come eat!  Morgan and her classmates are over flowing with smiles and hugs for me. They are such sweet kids! Plus, some day, I realize it may not be “so cool” to have your mom show up for lunch.  So I’ll enjoy it now!!

Q:  What is your favorite time of day and why?

A:  Morning! I like to get up early & get started with my day.   I love the feeling of looking at the clock and realizing its only 10:00 AM, and I’ve gotten tons accomplished!!

Q:  What is your favorite family tradition?

A:  There are tons, but my most favorite is my mother’s dressing balls on Thanksgiving!  My grandmother made them for my dad growing up, and my mother has continued this tradition! I love them!

Q:  Which TV family is most like your own?

A:  This is actually, a hard one.  The only thing on my TV lately, has been football, Duck Dynasty & Re-runs of 24.  You can take your pick.  😉

Q:  Are you a country mouse or city mouse?

A: I would say more of a country mouse.  I love my small hometown & I even went to college in a small town, but I do jump at the chance to visit my best friends in the city too!

Q:  Good Hart is such a special place to Denise.  What town holds a special place in your heart?

A:  Oxford, Mississippi, Hands Down!! It was the place I called home for 4 ½ years, while I attended the University Of Mississippi.  I have met some of my dearest friends in Oxford, not to mention, this is the town where my parents met and fell in love, so many years before it captured my heart!  Oxford has so much charm & history, everyone who visits enjoys themselves! Even if they are from the opposing team.  😉
