Candid Keepers #573

Amy Foster of Somerset, KY

Q:  Please tell us a bit about yourself.  Where are you from and where are you now?

A: My name is Amy Foster and I’m from Somerset, Kentucky, located on beautiful Lake Cumberland. I was born and raised here.  After moving away for about 10 years, my husband and I decided to come back to raise our family. There’s nothing better than having grandma close by!

Q:  I always love to hear about the incredible husbands that support the crazy schedule of a MJ Trunk Keeper.  What makes yours so special?

A: Oh my goodness, I would not survive without the incredible support of my husband! He keeps his calendar clear the first of every month because he knows that his office will be transformed with MJC. He’s also been known to make deliveries and print Jane invitations at 11pm. I was leaving for a show the other day and on my way out the door, he says “don’t forget the new catalogs”! Cracks me up….we are definitely a team!

Q:  My favorite thing to talk about is my kids.  Tell us about YOURS.

A: We have 3 wonderful kids….Noah is the oldest at 11, and was born a little old man. I don’t think there has ever been a name more appropriately chosen for a child. He is patient, so compassionate, and loves to build and design. It’s amazing what he can do with legos! Ms. Emma Rose just turned 7 and is our little artist, always creating a masterpiece and leaving notes on my pillow.  She is a social butterfly and such a wonderful big sister. She has a heart of gold! Ava, 3,  is the princess, and loves to dress up! She loves her ’tilda jame’! She is so sweet and is always happy no matter what.

Q:  If you could wear one item every day, what would that be?

A: Definitely a dress! I love wearing dresses year round. Paired with leggings and boots in the winter is my favorite!

Q:  How did Matilda Jane find YOU?

A:  Well…back in 2009 I spotted a little girl in Lexington, KY wearing the cutest outfit. Thank goodness for that large MJC tag! I went home, googled it and before I knew it, Leslie Wills was calling to set up a trunk show. I faithfully hosted a show every single season since!!

Q:  If you could have lunch with ANYONE, who would it be and why?

A: I just recently lost my grandma, so I would love to have lunch with her one more time.

Q:  What are 5 words your friends would use to describe you?

A:  Sweet, dependable, trustworthy, hardworking, and creative.

Q:  Besides your family, what are you most passionate about?

A:  There are so many things that I’m passionate about, but the one thing that encompasses it all, I would have to say is my faith. It brings endless joy and passion to my life in ways that ordinarily wouldn’t be there.

Q:  Share with us just ONE very important thing you do to try to leave this world a better place.

A: Teaching my children RESPECT. To respect themselves, friends, elders, teachers, property, animals, money, etc. I think when we have respect for things around us and other people, we are one step closer to a better place.

Q:  What store makes your heart go pitter patter when you shop in it?

A: Since we are currently building a house, I would say any furniture store!!  Arhaus is currently my favorite. I want everything in that store!! Oh, and lighting! Who knew I would love lighting so much, especially antique lighting?!

Q:  What do you value more?  Possessions or travel?

A:  Definitely travel!!! My husband and I took a trip out west earlier this year (alone). We spent some time in Sedona, AZ, and the Grand Canyon. We had SO much fun exploring this new area together. The memories are priceless!

Q:  If given the opportunity to have the day to yourself, how would you spend it?

A:  Honestly, I probably wouldn’t know what to do with myself! But, if I were on the beach and had some good food nearby, I could figure it out pretty quickly!

Q:  If you could crawl into the pages of any book, what would it be and why?

A: You would laugh if you knew how obsessed I am with the Outlanders series, written by Diana Gabaldon. I am currently re-reading the series. I can’t wait for the newest release out in the spring! Yes, another release I am anticipating! LOL! I read every single day.

Q:  What is YOUR “must have” Paint by Numbers piece?

A:  The Daybreak cardigan hands down! I seriously considered getting a second one!
