Candid Keepers #576

Courtney West of Hendersonville, TN

Q:  Well hello there.  Tell us a little bit about YOU.

A:  I am Courtney West from Hendersonville, TN.  I love sports and the outdoors.   I married my husband Kerry 7 years ago and we have 2 daughters Kaylor (5) and Channing (1) and 2 labradoodles.  I played college basketball and still love to play in basketball leagues (with other out of shape moms, ha!). I teach physical education part time and love to spend time with the family!

Q:  How did you meet and fall in love with the man of your dreams?

A:  I guess you could say we met at church.  We already knew each other through basketball because we played and coached at rival high schools and colleges.  We started dating when I was 18 and he was coaching at a local high school.  We have been together ever since, house divided and all.  😉

Q:  Bebes?  You know we’d love to hear about them.

A:  I have 2 girls, Kaylor (5) and Channing (1).  Kaylor started kindergarten this year and is a tomboy! She loves to play sports and is very outgoing.  She does not meet a stranger.  Channing is a non-stop 1 ½ year old.  She laughs a lot and follows her big sister everywhere.  She climbs on everything, so our house looks like a complete mess all the time. There are gates in front of our entertainment center, our dining room and kitchen chairs are turned over so she can’t climb on them, and we have each door locked so she can’t run and hide from room to room.  Never a dull moment and never a clean house with these girls.

Q:  How long have you been with Matilda Jane and when did you know you wanted to be a Trunk Keeper?

A: My friend Nicki had a trunk show with the Field Trip line.  I was the typical first time buyer and bought one, maybe 2 pieces.  Once I put them on my daughter I fell in love! I knew I had to have more.  I hosted every season after that. I decided I wanted to become a trunk keeper last year because I loved what this company was about.  This company offers an amazing product, with co-workers that feel like family, and the heart to help others.  I am so happy to be a part of the Matilda Jane Family.

Q:  I have many rituals in my day.  How do you like to start out your day?

A:  I’m definitely a morning person.  So when I get up I like to get a good shower, a cup of coffee and watch some Good Morning America.

Q:  What is your favorite family tradition?

A:  Each fall our family goes to The Smokey Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN.  We are in a cabin in the middle of no where, with incredible views of the mountains.  So peaceful and such great family time.

Q:  Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

A:  I would say my parents.  They have always supported me with whatever I wanted to do.  They have pushed me hard my entire life and have always been there for me no matter what.

Q:  Which historical figure would you like to meet?

A:  Ronald Reagan

Q:  What is your favorite time of day and why?

A:  I would say around 10:00 at night when I am relaxed, laying in bed and watching my nightly episode of FRIENDS.

Q:  What teacher or coach has had the most impact on you and why?

A:  My college basketball coach, Coach Bennett.  He was such a Godly man that treated me like a father.  He just didn’t care about us as players, but he was more worried about what kind of person we were.  He made us sit in the front row of all our college classes, volunteer at local charities, and have weekly meetings with him to make sure we were doing well in college.   An awesome man!

Q:  Which TV family is most like your own?

A: My life would make a great sit-com, but there’s not a tv family that seem much like us.

Q:  What is your favorite smell in the whole world?

A:  For sure a brand new pair of tennis shoes!

Q:  Where is the coziest spot in your home?

A:  In my Lazy boy recliner, with my girls snuggling in with a blanket.

Q:  What is your “must have” Paint by Numbers piece?

A:  Such a hard choice.  I will have to say the Fairest Navy Dress. I love everything about it!  Besides how unbelievably comfortable it is, you can also wear it so many ways.  You can add different accessories, can be dressed down or up, and it’s a must have piece for me this fall.
