Kaylan Linder of Smith County, TN
Q: Well hello there. Tell us a little bit about YOU.
A: I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and loved my job in the public schools. When we moved to Smith County, TN several years ago, I was blessed with the opportunity to stay home with my kids. Now, I am excited to be a Matilda Jane Trunk Keeper! I’ve met so many wonderful people already!
Q: How did you meet and fall in love with the man of your dreams?
A: A mutual friend set us up. Our first date was a day on the lake with a group of friends and their kids. We felt plenty of pressure since we were surrounded by such a crowd! Luckily, we had a lot in common and hit it off quickly. Corny as it may sound, I knew right away he was ‘the one’.
Q: Bebes? You know we’d love to hear about them.
A: We have 9-year old twins, Sophie and Luke. It is been so much fun to be a part of the bond they share and to enjoy the differences in them.
Luke is my loving child. He’s such a hugger! He is very passionate about his interests! He loves sports and can spout out NFL & NBA facts like crazy. He plays basketball and golf competitively and football for recreation. He loves maps, and his favorite subject is Social Studies.
Sophie is very independent and motherly. She is responsible and has a knack for taking care of others. She is a huge help to me and can always be counted on to watch out for her younger cousins and friends. Sophie loves to read and enjoys school. She plays basketball, soccer, and golf and also enjoys hunting.
Q: How long have you been with Matilda Jane and when did you know you wanted to be a Trunk Keeper?
A: This is my first season as a trunk keeper. A friend invited me to a trunk show in the fall of 2010. I purchased the Sunny Dress from Hammond Bay which is still an all-time favorite. My daughter loved the dress, and it was adorable on her. I was hooked!
Q: I have many rituals in my day. How do you like to start out your day?
A: I love the mornings! My husband and I drink coffee and talk, and then most days I go for a short run.
Q: What is your favorite family tradition?
A: I love Thanksgiving and Christmas, but my favorite traditions revolve around the water. We have taken a family vacation to Hilton Head for the past several years, and we love to spend summer evenings and weekends on the lake near our home.
Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
A: My maternal grandparents. My grandmother was the most kind, gentle person I have ever known. She passed away before my kids were born, and I wish all the time that they could have known her. My grandfather is a rock and is a wonderful example for his family and others. He is 82 years-old, works a full-time job and is active in the church and community.
Q: Which historical figure would you like to meet?
Q: What is your favorite time of day and why?
A: Hands down, the early morning! I love the peace and quiet and the anticipation of a new day. I’m also most productive in the morning…after I’ve had coffee, that is.
Q: What teacher or coach has had the most impact on you and why?
A: I’ve had some amazing teachers and coaches. My favorite was my junior high basketball coach. She had such positive energy and knew how to get the best out of everyone around her.
Q: Which TV family is most like your own.
A: Hmm, the closest I can think of is the Robertsons from Duck Dynasty. We love the show and promote the same values. We want our kids to enjoy the outdoors, and both of them love taking target practice and hunting with their dad.
Q: What is your favorite smell in the whole world?
Q: Where is the coziest spot in your home?
A: The couch snuggled up with my kids
Q: What is your “must have” Paint by Numbers piece?
A: I fell in love with the Lemongrass Bennys the moment I saw them. They are so fun and match so much! I couldn’t pick an adult piece if I tried. This has been my favorite adult collection yet!
