Candid Keepers #630

Samantha Lantrip of  Ruston, LA

Q: Hey Samantha, tell us a little bit about yourself

A. I am a southern girl who lives in the town I was born and raised in! I love my family more than anything and have precious friends too. I love to shop…cooking is fun too but I love eating at yummy restaurants most! God has blessed me tremendously for the life He has given me and I thank Him every day for where I am today.

Q:  How did you meet the love of your main squeeze?
A:  I met my husband Brad my freshmen year of college at Louisiana Tech officially on “Labor Day is Game Day.” Although we are both from Ruston,LA he is a few years older and we went to different high schools. A mutual friend introduced us and nine years later we are enjoying life together as best buddies and parents!

Q:  Tell us about that sweet little girl of yours.
A:  Ava Caroline is my precious precious two and a half year old! She is funny, smart, full of personality and keeps us on our toes. She loves ’Tilda Jane and insists on wearing it, she’s my best model! Ava will welcome a baby brother or sister in May and we could not be happier to add baby number two to our family!

Q:  How did Matilda Jane find YOU?
A:  This is my first season as a Matilda Jane Trunk Keeper. It has been such fun and busy! I got the bug to be a Trunk Keeper about a year ago and having lots of family thoughts and prayer and God’s perfect timing, it happened!

Q: I have many rituals in my day.  How do you like to start off yours?
A:   I love to run 3-4 mornings a week with my fabulous running buddies. I have to go at 5am, but it makes my day get off on the right track! I love weekends when I can run, shower, and climb back in bed, that’s the best! And I always read my devotional in Jesus Calling before getting ready and really going, it’s amazing how God’s word can truly start off each day in the right way.

Q:  What is your favorite family tradition?
A:  Christmas is my favorite family tradition. My parents always made it so special for me and my sisters growing up, we would anxiously wait at the top of the stairs until we could come down and see! They have passed down these traditions to their daughters and now are able to see the excitement in their grandchildren each Christmas morning! We all get together for a BIG family dinner with delicious food and the kiddos playing and exchanging gifts. Christmas is my favorite time of year, I am ready to start decorating now!pp2013-1503

Q:  Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
A:  My mom and dad have been the most influential people in my life. They have given their four daughters the best life we could have dreamed of and love their seven and soon to be eight grandchildren more than anything! They are always there for me no matter what, and always have been. I love living in the same town as my parents and getting to see them many times a week and having them be such a huge part of Ava’s life.

Q:  What historical figure would you like to meet?
A:  It’s hard for me to say which historical figure I would like to meet… I’m not too much of a history person. But if I could meet anyone it would be my Pappaw, my Daddy’s father. We would all like to talk with him and see what he was like!

Q:  What is your favorite time of the day and why?

A:   My favorite time of day is anytime we are just hanging out at home having fun together. Ava loves playing with her babies or doing some sort of crafts, so just being home is so nice! And times I can catch up on all the DVR is nice too!

Q:  What teacher or coach has had the most impact on you and why?

A:   My kindergarten teacher Mrs. Hawkins will always be my most memorable teacher. She taught my three older sisters kindergarten and then had me at the very end. She is such a precious lady who loved her students. When I was in graduate school she ended up being my education evaluator and was along part of my journey to being a kindergarten teacher!

Q:  What TV family is most like your own?

A:   I can’t think of a TV family like my own because the shows I watch are Grey’s Anatomy and the Real Houswives! So my life is definitely not like any of those, but they are fun to watch!

Q:  What is your favorite smell?

A:   Favorite smell in the whole world is a clean baby just out of the tub, can’t think of anything sweeter!

Q:  What is the coziest spot in your home?

A:   The coziest spot in my house is Ava’s tent. It hangs from the ceiling in her room and we read stories at night in there and sing songs and say her night time prayers. The floor pillow and pillows make it extra soft, along with her babies and stuffed animals!

I love how important your faith is to you and that you are/were a teacher too! =) I am sure you are making a big impact on your students just as Mrs.Hawkins did for you! And I’d have to agree with Amy above, your daughter and her curls are precious. =D

Welcome Samantha! You’re so right. BEST smell in the world! If I could box that smell (I guess Johnson’s already did that) with a little winding box that played my little girls giggle, it would be the sweetest thing in the world.
