Hello Hammond Bay

And the fun is just beginning. We are all so excited for the launch of Hammond Bay today! And because we love putting a little smile on your face and bounce in you step let’s have a contest. I think, and it seems many of you do as well, that we should do a “Nominate a Friend” contest.  Email Sam, samm@matildajaneclothing.com with your nomination of a friend who needs a little pick me up. Be sure to include sizes and an address in order to be considered. We’ll pick a few “good friends” on Friday.

Thank you and thank you to Jill of Spitting Image Photography for the great shots.

Email Sam, samm@matildajaneclothing.com with your nomination of a friend who needs a little pick me up. You might not want to leave it in the comment section., I would hate for anyone to be emberassed. I’m weird like that!!

Who won the nominate a friend contest?

Shevaun in chilly maine - February 19, 2010 - 6:12 pm

I can’t wait to see who won tonight, It would be so wonderful for the family I nominated, it has been so hard on them since their father passed away before Christmas! Sounds like a lot of people have nominated other deserving families as well, what a thoughtful contest, thank you for thinking above and beyond.

I was searching for an asissted living article when I stumbled onto this site. I say, what a beautiful site and a nice contest. Good luck on your activities.

Katie - February 18, 2010 - 7:12 pm

SBP, I was thinking the exact same thing 🙁 Probably with a big fat “buy it now” button. Soo lame!

Erin "pancake makers mom" Spencer - February 18, 2010 - 4:28 pm

Ok can I say my trunk keeper RACHEL JORDAN ROCKS!!!! I love her shes the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautifulclothing - February 18, 2010 - 10:46 am

Gosh. I can’t believe that some of my favorite items are already sold out. Hopefully you all will have more sizes available. My wish list is huge. I am trying to find the funds to make a purchase, but am having a hard time at the moment. Hopefully I will be able to make a purchase in the near future when the sizes come back out. I went shopping yest. and I only bought 1 thing because I compare everything to Matilda Jane clothing and nothing is as cute. I am in love with this clothing line. You have done an excellent job Denise. No other stores or websites compare. Is there going to be a sale online anytime soon?

SBP - February 18, 2010 - 12:25 am

Hmm… wonder if in 4-5 weeks you’ll be able to get Wendy dresses and Raven skirts on ebay for the price jacked way up:(

Michelle P. - February 18, 2010 - 12:19 am

I’m joining to crowd to plead for more Wendy’s and Raven’s!

Rach- the retired OG - February 17, 2010 - 6:41 pm

So..umm..how do I get a cute little giraffe bag (like in the picture?) I am SERIOUSLY wanting one for the zoo.

amyence - February 17, 2010 - 10:26 am

I think the quote”My Darling, Happiness is best kept when given away.” was beautifully written on a Matilda Jane post card/sticker that came with my first MJC order last year. Your personality and company epitomize this quote. Thank you for being wonderful! Good luck at auction today!!!

Sophia's Mom - February 17, 2010 - 9:58 am

Can I just say that I looked at Skye Johansen’s site…WOW! She is absolutely amazing. I knew she had won the recent photography contest and is so very deserving. She makes me want to travel to Utah…which would be a far distance since I am in Mississippi. 🙂 If only Skye and 435 were a little closer…:) I am currently trying to talk my husband into going to the Art Fair in June at 435…what a wonderful Anniversary gift 🙂 Wondering if there will be another online Art Fair?? Just pondering while at work 🙂 Denise, good luck with the house and have fun in Vegas!!

Erin Spencer - February 17, 2010 - 6:11 am

Just an FYI…if you look on the website the cookie tank dose say very limited right now but that there will be more with the April release. I am still hoping that there will be more of the Wendy in either March or April….PLEASE, PLEASE!!!

Beth Bryant - February 17, 2010 - 6:00 am

Denise,
I attended my first Matilda Jane show in Murfreesboro, TN last season and immediately fell in love with your clothes. I actually have recently attempted to start my own clothing business with a girlfriend, on a much smaller level. I get invites to trunk shows all the time. Yours is the only show I went to where I felt there was now way I could duplicate the clothing. Also, the only time I bought anything. Your fabrics are so unique and your designs are so creative. I get compliments every time Lillie or I wear your pieces. What you have done and continue to do is so inspiring to me. Keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see Hammond Bay in person next week!!

miss*jen - February 16, 2010 - 10:24 pm

I saw someone down there posted about the cookie tank and I have to second her plea!!! PLEEEEEAAASE!! My show is the 27th. I have already had a few gals mention they want that top and I haven’t yet had the heart to say it isn’t going to happen. 🙁 I was smart enough to order a raven and a wendy for Belle the first day. whew!!!

*TKJT* - February 16, 2010 - 9:05 pm

LQQKME2 – If no one has helped you, I’d be happy too 😉 You can e-mail me at blueeyes9693@comcast.net. 😉

Erin "pancake makers mom" Spencer - February 16, 2010 - 8:30 pm

Ok, I may be going CRAZY….because I was on your website and the Wendy Tierd Dress was there…the it disappeared…then it was there again…then gone….all in a matter of minutes and I sware right in front of my eyes??? I did see that there will be more availablity of the cookie tank in April…you know I am not one to complain so NOT a complaint but a plead….if the Wendy is already sold out PLEASE, PLEASE bring her back in the March or April release. Your little pancake maker will look soooooo adorable in it and its right up her alley…She LOVES the dress she can ware leggings with…..so for the pancake maker, my almost 4 year old who complains if she not in MJ…I quote “these jeans are tight mama I want my matilda janes” PLEASE bring her back!!!! Love you and your beautiful cloths Denise!!! By the way, so confused your in Vegas buying a house??

tree*head - February 16, 2010 - 7:22 pm

SMC - February 16, 2010 - 10:52 am

I was also very disappointed to see that some of the items were already sold out or sold out in the size I needed after just the first day. Will there be more of these made? Oh, I sure hope so. I just loved the raven, the cookie, and the wendy and at this point I don’t know if my tk got my order in soon enough or not. Keeping my fingers crossed.

LQQKME2 - February 16, 2010 - 9:24 am

Super contest & great idea blogsters!! So…I am a newbie to Matilda Jane! Yes….I don’t know why I am JUST NOW discovering it, as my oldest is 6yrs old!!! If anyone can help answer some questions I’d appreciate it. A.) When is a new collection (such as Hammond Bay) available to purchase online via “Platinum Label”? B.) How do you get Matilda Jane via “Trunk Keeper” if the trunk keeper in your area never calls you back?!?! I have a few (ok..a ton) of wishlist items, but as I see, I may be too late to get them. Any other tips or info I should know would be great!! Awesome line you have Denise!!!

workingnine2five - February 16, 2010 - 8:19 am

I am so loving this contest. I just think that some people need that extra hug to get thru some of the tougher things in life. Oh and it doesn’t surprise me at all that this line is flying off the hangers. It’s completely AMAZING!

Bummed out..... - February 16, 2010 - 8:09 am

I just have to say I am very let down too. The Raven is part of the only outfit I was ordering. And its gone in the size I need. I didn’t order yesterday because I think it is insane for me to have to order something and pay full price and shipping when I am having a show days later. This will be my last MJ show until I can see that items will actually be available for the show. The point of having a show is for the perks. Otherwise I would just order on opening day and be done. MJ should really consider a backorder system. It would be way better than just totally letting people down. Now I’ve done work for MJ by advertising my show and my payoff was supposed to be my perks. So much for that.

Corrie - February 16, 2010 - 7:48 am

i have to say i am soooooo disappointed 🙁 i tried to place an order with a trunk keeper in my area for the items i want and the size i need in a few pieces are already sold out! how can that happen on the first day??? very sad!

catherine s. - February 15, 2010 - 8:38 pm

Awesome contest – this is why I LOVE MJ and Denise 🙂

Blessings to you all!

catherine s.

danielle - February 15, 2010 - 8:06 pm

I agree I love this contest!!!! It is amazing to nominate a friend that does it all and never hins she does and never ask for anything in return!!

Monika - February 15, 2010 - 7:30 pm

I love nominating friends!!! I just sent mine to Sam! Thank you, my dear!

Mary R. - February 15, 2010 - 5:19 pm

What a generous and thoughtful contest, Denise! :o)

heather pack - February 15, 2010 - 3:43 pm

denise — super sweet blog contest.. i just sent sam a submission… now for my request… please please please make more HB cookie tanks! i “hear” and i use that term loosely because i never know what info is true as i try not to rely on internet info that its almost all sold out in every size. i am hosting a show next weekend 2/26 in las vegas (where we don’t have a trunk keeper yet) and that is THE basic top of the entire collection.. i don’t know that i can sell the rest without it! especially in a place with 100+ degree temps coming very very soon! even if it is backordered, PLEASE consider having more made – it ties together everything and allowing those who didn’t have trunk shows day 1 sell it at the show… Thanks!!!!

*TKJT* - February 15, 2010 - 3:23 pm

What a sweet thing to do 😉

Debra Stallings - February 15, 2010 - 2:45 pm

Denise,
You are always so generous. I want to nominate my daughter who is my best friend. She is 24 years old and was in a car accident. Everything seemed normal except for continuous headaches. Three months after the wreck she has a seizure and was unable to speak. Being a mother there is nothing worse than something to happen to your children. She was on FMLA while she was going thru therapy and when it was time to come back her employer did not keep her due to lack of work. She has a 4 year old daughter Anna who is precious. She moved back home and so with my youngest daughter, Sophie, 5 1/2 and Anna the house is anything but calm. If you could send Ashley and Anna a little something it would thrill her. I am unemployed at this time so it is hard for me to buy this fabulous clothing for everyone.

On an upnote Ashley has registered to go to school in the Spring. She is excited and is feeling better so she has a better outlook on life.
Thanks a bunch
Deb

Christine - February 15, 2010 - 2:34 pm

I just remember getting a call from a lucky family who received the Thanksgiving gift. What a joy that brought to the little girls of the family. Thank you many times over Denise.
PS Just came back from a trunk show. I was in love. In person the colors were even better! I also love that we are able to mix and match more of the other lines.

Beautifulclothing - February 15, 2010 - 2:25 pm

This is a very good idea. When someone is having a cloudy day or even a cloudy year and they get an unexpected surprise it really brings joy to them as well as the whole household. It is addictive…when one person feels happy the others in the household feels happy and when one feels down the others feel down. A pretty package would bring such joy and knowing that someone listened to them means a whole lot more.

Katie M- this weeks birthday girl! - February 15, 2010 - 2:02 pm

I love this style of contest- it gets people to be less “let me win pick me pick me’ and more- ‘this person really deserves something special and good to happent to THEM’
Those pictures are adorable- all the little presents in the reusable bags look like so much fun (are the bags from target!)

gran - February 15, 2010 - 1:54 pm

What a wonderful contest……….special like all of you.

Katie*D - February 15, 2010 - 1:41 pm

What a great chance to make someone’s day with a little Matilda Jane! I have a wonderful friend of just over 20 years. She has a sweet daughter that was born at 26 weeks, weighing in at 1lb 14 oz. She is now 7 years old and has many health issues. She can not speak, or eat on her own – she has a feeding tube. Although there are some challenges, she is a miracle straight from God. Stacey and Mark know how lucky they are to have a sweet little girl known as their princess, aka Jordan. Recently, Mark and Stacey had to relocate for work. Stacey is now away from her family and the doctors that have come to know everything about Jordan. So, she has started over with new friends and doctors and a new job as a parapro at her daughter’s school. I know that Matilda Jane would certainly make her smile!! Thank you for such a wonderful contest.

kristin m. - February 15, 2010 - 1:34 pm

I have a friend who could use such a pick me up at this time in her and her family’s lives. she and her husband (and two sons) adopted a 4 yr old girl from China approx. 4 yrs ago. I know that little girl has brought them such joy and love, but has been a costly venture for them. She has been undergoing the process of fixing a cleft lip and palate, but since most of the cosmetic fixing is considered just that, insurance has been refusing to pay for the procedure. And then devastation hit for the little girl and her family beyond imagine just a few months ago. I will refrain from saying just what (due to privacy issues), but it is the worse thing imaginable to happen to such a young child. I can’t imagine myself how i would deal with the matter, but they manage to keep their spirits up and move on with life. And the little girl has shown amazing resilience and courage beyond words. They are truly people of God’s faith and deserving of getting back what they put forth. No one can take back what happened to that little girl, but I would hope that a little surprise in the mail could put a big grin on her adorable little face. Should I be selected as a winner, I will then go ahead and email with the name, size and address at that time. Thank you so much for putting a little sunshine in someone’s otherwise cloudy day (no matter who that deserving person/child may be)!!!

Diane - February 15, 2010 - 1:33 pm

Can you please remove my comment that lists my friend’s name and address? I mistakenly put it here instead of emailing it. I hadn’t noticed the email Sam part until after I already posted. I want her privacy protected. Thank you.

Jen - February 15, 2010 - 1:17 pm

Well, it would have been easy to say, “Hmph, not a contest that we can win” and close the window on the computer, but I thought this would be a good time to talk to Caroline (4 years-old) about sharing and generosity—two things that you have so much of, Denise. We had a little chat about her friends and who might not have so many “things” (not that things are all that matters!!!!) and who maybe could use a bit of a pick-me-up. We settled on her friend, Lia, so I am nominating Lia’s *dad*, Chris .
When Lia was a baby, her mom died from cancer, so Lia’s just grown up with her sister, Ava, and her dad. Both of her grandmothers are pretty involved in her life, and while her dad is a great dad, it doesn’t change the fact that she, unfortunately, doesn’t have a mommy to introduce her to frilly things and gorgeous clothing, like Matilda Jane. Lia is a very sweet little girl—some MJC items would no doubt make her smile a HUGE smile and bring just a little bit more “frill” into her life 🙂

Holly's Mama - February 15, 2010 - 12:36 pm

You are so sweet Denise!
