My favorite holiday tradition (and my kids’ favorite too!) is on Christmas morning, when the kids wake up, they find a trail of glow in the dark stars that lead from their room (they all sleep in the same room on Christmas Eve), all throughout the house, with pieces of the nativity set at intervals along the way. As they follow the stars, they pick up the different people from the narrative of Christ’s birth in Luke 2, and we read the story as we go. As they have gotten older, they now read the story to their younger siblings. At the end of the trail of stars is our Christmas tree with the Baby Jesus underneath, and an angel food cake with three candles – one to represent the star that led the wise men to Jesus, one to represent Jesus as the Light of the World, and one to remind us to be a light to others. We eat angel food cake and sing Silent Night and Happy Birthday to Jesus, and then we open gifts. It’s always so special and really helps the real reason for the holiday to shine!

I absolutely love the Christmas season. I love cooking with my Mom and daughter, I love decorating every inch of my house, I love pulling out all the handmade ornaments that my children have made over the last 10 years, I love shopping for friends and family and the way their faces light up when they see their gifts. My family always “adopts” a child/family that is in need. My children are now at an age where they really enjoy picking out toys and clothes for the family we adopt and we all feel better doing this for others than we ever feel in receiving gifts. After all, giving is one of the true meanings of Christmas!

Rachele Clark - November 19, 2015 - 2:28 pm

Jessie Rice - November 19, 2015 - 10:30 am

Ever since I could remember we would make fudge and other candies in my grandmas kitchen. We would fill her 16 person dining room table with goodies and then package them up to give to churches, our school teachers, neighbors, really anyone we came in to contact with around Christmas!

Monica Koplas - November 19, 2015 - 10:18 am

We have celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. First we have dinner, and then the kids go upstairs, waiting for the Angels to ring the bell that everything is ready. Then they come down and the tree is lit up, the presents are under the tree, and we celebrate at this time.

We traditionally go to my grandmothers house every single Christmas eve. The kiddos open gifts, and the adults do gag gifts. We have pizza and different sides and sweets. We all get in a big circle and play the “left/right” game with the Night before Christmas story, and then we just spend time together. We just PCS’d to Louisiana this year so we don’t get to have our usual traditions this year! We are going to make new ones 🙂

I love surprising my kiddos with their Elf on the Shelf and all of his shenanigans that he gets into every night while they sleep 😉

Laura Hammer - November 19, 2015 - 1:19 am

I love those stockings! We have stockings that my mom puts up each year that she made for us when we were little. My favorite tradition is that we all go to my parents house (I have 3 sisters and our entire families meet at our parents house) and wait for everyone to arrive before we go into the living room. Santa doesn’t wrap presents so we all wait to see everything at the same time. I love that my girls are starting to share in this tradition too! My sister makes a video to music each year that has pictures starting from last Christmas Day and throughout the whole year. It’s always amazing and such a blessing. The rest of the day is spent lounging in jammies and reading books by the fire. And napping. And eating. And more reading and napping. My favorite day.

Rosa Magana - November 19, 2015 - 1:13 am

Christmas lists get written, too… Oh and don’t forget the debut of our Elf Holly’s return. It’s kind of like Christmas the day after Thanksgiving in our home… As all the loving and whimsy Christmas traditions begin! (Pssst…. Holy WOW… Love the Plat stockings, ladies!!) XO

EF - November 18, 2015 - 11:41 pm

I picked up a gingerbread house kit on a whim one holiday season. Never done a gingerbread house but have seen it done in all the “holiday” movies. My daughter and I had so much fun and she beamed with excitement and pride at the completion of our first house that we decided to do one every Christmas.

Keesha - November 18, 2015 - 11:17 pm

We make ornaments together and then we give them as gifts to the special people in our lives. It’s so personal to give a gift that my children have taken the time to create. It’s a lesson to them as well. They look forward to making them and giving them.

Moriah Bader - November 18, 2015 - 6:12 pm

Our favorite is filling the glass mason jars with sand, adding a candle and pretty bow. Then lining the jars up and down the driveway and sidewalk. This is so baby Jesus can find his way. We also leave the manger empty until Christmas morning when the girls look forward to putting baby Jesus in the manger to signify his birth. And of course singing him Happy Birthday!!!! He’s the real reason for the season and it’s fun to include Him in our family traditions!

Angie - November 18, 2015 - 5:12 pm

We read the Christmas story, then open presents and have blueberry muffins for breakfast!!???

Jen Vess - November 18, 2015 - 4:12 pm

My granny still likes to host Thanksgiving and Christmas at her house. The problem is, her health doesn’t exactly allow her to entertain (much less prepare a meal for) 30+ people. For a few years now, my mom and I prepare the entire meal at our homes and drive over an hour to her house where she still gets to be the hostess. I’m not sure if most of the people there even know that we brought the food with us and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The look on her face when she sees all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around her is worth all of the work it takes to pull this off time after time. I wouldn’t trade my time with her for the world. I know her days are numbered more and more as each year passes and I want to do everything I possibly can to help her “host” the holidays as many times as she wants to. That’s what the holidays are about for me and I hope that my children and grandchildren do the same for me someday.

Melissa - November 18, 2015 - 3:39 pm

We go to my moms for Christmas Eve and the entire family eats at the dining room table. My mom buys jewelry for the girls and socks for the boys as a table gift!!!

We always have a gingerbread house making contest on Christmas Eve with family, the kids love it!

Beverly Turner - November 18, 2015 - 2:56 pm

Christmas traditions started long ago by my sweet, loving mother & are carried on today after her passing with my children and grandchildren. She started years ago with everyone having matching pajamas on Christmas Eve. Each and every present wrapped with love & topped with a bow. Homemade candies from scratch that filled tins and delivered to neighbors with love. The reason I love MJ is because of my mother, for she made very similar patterns for me when I was young. So now at Christmas since her passing we started a new tradition and at the first of the holiday season we prepare her grave blanket with love, ribbon, ornaments and lights and place on her grave to show our love to her.

Debbie Moore - November 18, 2015 - 2:48 pm

One year it was a wrapped Christmas book to read together daily, last year it was different ideas involving kindness and helping someone, this year its going to be about helping Mom (me). We will be doing various craft projects together. I’m not sure who is more excited, the kids or me!

Michelle Higgins - November 18, 2015 - 1:37 pm

My normal Xmas tradition is getting together with my younger sister wrapping gifts and then with our sweet kids, playing games with lots of love and laughter . This year the tradition will stay the same, except we will be missing a very important piece, my beautiful sister. Although she recently went to heaven, I know she will be with us on this day! We will be adding a new tradition as well, decorating her final resting place with all the Xmas decorations she loved so much! ? (I love you Bethany)

Melanie Housel - November 18, 2015 - 12:39 pm

We decide on a family we know or Learn of in need and then be a secret blessing/secret Santa and deliver what they are needing secretly. Our children are a part of this to a degree, as we do not disclose who it is so that there is never a weirdness or accidental slip of names!! It’s the most joyful thing ever! The children get to know up front on our service helpers we deliver goodies to at the stations!! That way they can say thank you!! Joyful Noel MJC!!!!

Melissa Peters - November 18, 2015 - 12:34 pm

We (2 adults and 4 kids) draw names and everyone MAKES something for the person who’s name they picked. The rules are, you have to MAKE it, you have to use things we already have, you have $5 to supplement if necessary. We started this a few years ago and the kid keep asking to do it. So fun, this year we got a new couch and my youngest was sad to see the old one go so her big brother asked if we could save the fabric from the old couch so he could make her an American Girl doll couch from the fabric. Can’t wait for this year’s exchange. 🙂

Bianca Andrea - November 18, 2015 - 11:41 am

we are definitely giving MJC for the Christmas Holidays and I can’t wait! I love to get together with my family and exchange gifts, gift giving is my love language.

On December 6th at night time Saint Nicolaus will put some candy and little gifts in the kids’ winter boots which they will put in front of the door the night before. That’s a tradition I brought with me from Germany and I love to see the excitement on my kids’ faces when they run down the stairs in the morning to see what St. Nicolaus has brought them.

Malia - November 18, 2015 - 10:24 am

Plat fairies, you ladies are amazing, THANK YOU! My favorite tradition, one which is way overdue, is spending time with my extended family on xmas eve, or Noche Buena – we enjoy special Caribbean appetizers, drink ‘coquitos’ and ‘sidra’, & laugh, a lot of laughter, listening and dancing to ‘musica navidena’. I miss it, and hope my kids get to experience it more in the future. Love the family celebration – THAT captures the Christmas spirit for me!

Every Christmas Eve my entire family gets together for dinner and a gift exchange at our church then we split into teams for a dodgeball game in our ministry center! We always have so much fun and it’s a great way to include everyone of all ages! Our family ranges from age 2 up to 70 and there is a total of 13 grandkids and 8 great grandkids!

Kandace Acord - November 18, 2015 - 7:56 am

My daughter is going on her second Christmas. We are starting a tradition of having a Christmas Eve box that she gets to open before any other presents. It has a new pair of pjs to wear that night, a Christmas movie and book, a stuffed animal and a few other little age apppropriate gifts. Our hope is as she grows the gifts will grow with her. We take a picture of her with the box each year and tape it to the inside of the lid. She can look back and see how she’s grown through the years 🙂

Lindsey - November 18, 2015 - 7:49 am

As a child we used to “ice” the Christmas tree! We always had a real tree and we would make “snow” from ivory snow detergent and water. Then we would lay the mixture on each individual branch. It looked gorgeous and smelled amazing!

Kim Rauhauser - November 18, 2015 - 7:45 am

Our favorite Christmas tradition is Christmas eve movie night in new holiday pajamas while enjoying cookies & milk then putting the kids to bed before Santa arrives. 🙂

Celebrating with my family on Christmas Eve has been a tradition as long as I can remember. All of my cousins, aunts and uncles at my maternal grandma’s house when I was little…now my own mom has carried on the tradition with her kids at her house! It’s my favorite day of the year 🙂

Kayla Brooks - November 18, 2015 - 7:25 am

I love baking cookies and making candy with my oldest daughter. Now I have a 1 year old daughter that can start joining in on all of our holiday crafting!

Kiziah L - November 18, 2015 - 7:23 am

Christmas Eve is always just as big of a celebration as Christmas Day for us!
We decorate cookies for Santa, ride around town looking at all the Christmas lights, and snuggle in a new set of PJs while eating a yummy snack and watching Charlie Brown! Oh! Don’t forget the reindeer we have to leave them something too.
I’m really excited to be able to do the looks again this year! For the past 4-5 years we’ve been decorating ornaments instead for granny’s tree bc my 16 year old was “too old for Santa”. Now I have a 3 year old girl! Don’t worry we’ll still decorate ornaments for granny too ☺️?❤️

Michelle - November 18, 2015 - 7:21 am

Every year we help a family in need. Our kids help us pick stuff out and deliver the items. I’m sad to say that this year, the family we are helping is my oldest and dearest friend. She has 5 kids and they are getting ready to loose their house. We are making sure that those sweet children have some gifts under the tree and food on the table. It is important to help those in need and take care of those who are not as fortunate as us. I hope this is something my children will carry on when they get older.

Dana - November 18, 2015 - 7:00 am

Spending Christmas eve with our three kids, their grandparents, and great grandparents. Having four generations together to celebrate and be thankful makes for lasting memories. We also play games after dinner (each family donates money instead of buying gifts) and then whoever wins gives the money to a charity of their choice. A time to give back as well.

Sarah Driscoll - November 18, 2015 - 6:39 am

RachelH - November 18, 2015 - 12:58 am

Our new holiday tradition is Elf on the Shelf, with a twist. Everyday before Christmas our elf Sparkle delivers a Christmas blessing. The blessing is a random act of kindness our family is to perform that day. The acts range from writing a thank you note to a hardworking cashier at our local grocery store, singing Christmas carols at a convalescent home, to donating something special to someone in need. It’s important to our family to focus more on giving than receiving through the holiday season, and to remember how blessed we truly are.

Kristine A. - November 18, 2015 - 12:58 am

Every year since, I can remember we pack ourselves up in the car on Christmas Eve and drive around and look at all the Christmas lights in town. I am in my mid 30’s and have a beautiful little girl and we still every Christmas Eve get in the car with my mom and dad and look at all the lights in town. My daughter and I have also started our own tradition, every year on the 24th we go and pick out a new ornament for the tree. We have been doing it for a few years now and it’s one of the things she looks forward to the most.

Lindsay Winkler - November 18, 2015 - 12:38 am

New Christmas jammies, a new book about that we read about the true meaning of Christmas, and then opening up one gift from under the tree.

Dawn albuquerque - November 18, 2015 - 12:37 am

As a child, my father was in the ministry. We never missed a Christmas eve, candlelit services. Now with my own family with 4 children, that has been come my favorite tradition. Christmas Eve candle lit church service followed by Christmas pajamas and popcorn with m&ms in it.

Shannon M. - November 18, 2015 - 12:30 am

Oops! I posted something long, and got an error, so I will cut it short this time. 😉 We are starting a new tradition this year: after coming home from Nana and Grandpa’s on Christmas Eve, the girls will be cuddling in MJ robes! Shhh, they don’t know about them yet… 🙂

Dina Solokha - November 18, 2015 - 12:26 am

My 3 girls gets to open one Gift of their choise on Christmas Eve and rest of gifts on Christmas day. They’ve been asking me for bathrobes this year and I bought Matilda Jane robes for them as Christmas gifts 🙂 Every year on the Christmas Eve they put on their favorite pj’s and have them on in the morning of Christmas Day, when they open their presents. I’m pretty sure they will wear their Matilda Jane kitty pj’s!

Tressely M - November 18, 2015 - 12:17 am

We have lots of family traditions but one thing that comes to mind is that every year in November or December my girlfriends from college and I have a little girls Christmas sleepover. The five of us get together at one of our houses and eat, drink and be merry. It’s so nice to have a night together like we used to in the dorms freshman year. Both of my kiddos were born in the summer so my first nights spent away from them have been for the holiday party. While it’s difficult to leave them overnight, I am always so thankful to get that first overnight out of the way and for such a great reason. I love my family dearly but sometimes us mommas need a night with our girlfriends!

Mignon - November 18, 2015 - 12:17 am

Christmas eve is spent with family. All the kids do some kind of dance, song, poem, playing an instrument. Then grandma reads “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

Michelle Armstrong - November 17, 2015 - 11:58 pm

My daughter Claire always helps me bake cinnamon rolls from a can, pick up a Starbucks and sets everyone’s stocking out for all of the other kids (3boys) while they sleep in. She is m early bird so this has become our latest tradition on Christmas morning. ???

Kasey - November 17, 2015 - 11:50 pm

We always bake and decorate cookies to take to friends and family. Christmas breakfast in our pjs is another favorite! 🙂

Jennifer Reynolds - November 17, 2015 - 11:48 pm

We have so many it seems & all have such a special place in my heart. But one of my all time favorites was on Christmas eve we would have supper at my grandparents & get gifts from them. My grandfather growing up pretty much had nothing. They just couldn’t afford much & really couldn’t afford Christmas presents. He felt that he had to always get us a special gift. So every single Christmas that I can remember we always had a brown sack under his tree. It would be filled with a piece of fruit, a piece of candy(usually peppermint) & then one small thing considered a necessity(usually a pair of socks & a few times I got a pair of gloves). He was always so proud of his gift & couldn’t wait to give it to us. To him that was his love for us all wrapped up in that brown paper sack sitting under the tree. I never knew how much I’d miss that brown paper sack when he passed but I would give anything to have one under the tree again!

Kristen - November 17, 2015 - 11:46 pm

Gorgeous pieces! We don’t own any platinum pieces yet and these are just beautiful. My favorite tradition is gathering with my dad’s extended family on Christmas Eve. Santa visits and brings every child there a gift, even though he’ll be busy visiting everyone’s homes later that night. 😉 It’s magical! We have been doing it for decades!!

Mandy Carson - November 17, 2015 - 11:46 pm

We love having the grandparents come over on Christmas Eve, sprinkling magical “reindeer food” outside and of course setting out the cookies and milk for Santa 🙂

Ilene B - November 17, 2015 - 11:45 pm

My birthday is on Christmas. Growing up, we always celebrated Santa’s visit Christmas Eve. Then Christmas day was for celebrating Christ’s birth, and mine! It was my parents way of separating the Santa thing and making my day special.

Khris Roberts - November 17, 2015 - 11:38 pm

So this may seem like a totally not normal tradition but it is our favorite! We spend Christmas Eve with my in-laws, we are dressed really nice, my 2 girls and niece in their matching Matilda Kane. Do we have a nice sit down dinner? No, my husband and his dad head downtown for chicken wings!!! My mother-in-law puts on a Elvis Christmas CD, we eat wings in our fancy clothes and watch the kids play. Most importantly we are just together, laughing, and thankful for another year together.

Kelli Ostler - November 17, 2015 - 11:36 pm

Growing up on a rural family farm in Colorado. My dad one year thought of an idea to help 10 littles keep in the holiday spirit. He brought home some hay from the dairy farm and told us when we did something kind for someone else we could put a piece of straw in the Manger. I love that my DAD thought of it so I keep a bag of straw and continue the tradition with my littles. It’s so fun watching the manger fill up with straw making the barn cozier for baby Jesus. Who is pretty much always missing and held together by mounds of super glue! Merry Christmas! The stockings are amazing!! Xo

Katelin oglesby - November 17, 2015 - 11:33 pm

Since my babies are 3,2, and 3 months. We have started the tradition of opening new Christmas pjs and book to read on Christmas Eve. And I hope to carry that out till our kids are too old 🙂

Lauren - November 17, 2015 - 11:25 pm

We always drive around on Christmas Eve and check out all the neighborhood lights. The kids dress in their PJs and we just take it all in.

Erin - November 17, 2015 - 11:22 pm

I didn’t really have any traditions growing up, so I’m enjoying creating some with my daughter. So far (she’s 3) we go to the polar express to visit Santa. I love that kids off all ages are encouraged to “believe”.

This year I’m adding making lefsa (it’s like a Norwegian tortilla). something my grandma used to do but my mom didn’t continue. I’m bringing it back! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Amanda Farrell - November 17, 2015 - 11:21 pm

We started about 5 years ago getting a real tree. Our girls (11, 9, 6) get to go with us to pick it out. Their favorite part is when they trim the bottom and cut off the base. They love counting the rings to see how old our tree is!

Shelly Taylor - November 17, 2015 - 11:18 pm

Christmas Eve service at church

Sarah - November 17, 2015 - 11:13 pm

Going to the homeless shelter and serving food. Also going to the lights at our local zoo.

Susan - November 17, 2015 - 11:09 pm

Ours isn’t very Pinterest worthy but we order carry-out. We sit and plan our order before church on Christmas Eve and order the moment we leave the service. Every year Charleston’s brings our meals to our car and we go home to eat and watch A Christmas Story. There is nothing like prime rib in a to go box on Christmas Eve ?

barbie harwell - November 17, 2015 - 11:07 pm

My favorite tradition is spending Christmas Eve with our extended family… just dinner & talking!

Gaylene Barnes - November 17, 2015 - 11:06 pm

Skype home Christmas eve. Open 1 gift as well (pj’s and a new Christmas book) invite carolers to our home. I so utterly miss home soo much, I try to make it as traditional as possible to how I grew up.

Sarah B - November 17, 2015 - 10:58 pm

My favorite holiday tradition is hands down decorating the Christmas tree with my kids! They love pulling out the ornaments they’ve received each year along with the memories they hold. It is one of those rare times when all six of them, teens to toddler, do something together. Warms my heart ?

Terra Neff - November 17, 2015 - 10:58 pm

We go to Disney World during December and this will be our 3rd year going. Our daughter is 3 and we have another little girl on the way due in March! It is the most magical place on earth and we are lucky enough not only to go but to also be able to bring Grandma and Grandpa along with us. Seeing a 3 year old girls face light up is unbelievable. I can’t wait to go in just a few short weeks!!! My daughter loves her Matilda Jane and we often battle over outfits because she wants to wear it for EVERY occasion. Even running to the store she has to have on some MJ! Lol. Thank you for making such beautiful clothing. I already have a few pieces for my newest little one and can’t wait to see them in matching outfits!!! ❤️ Merry Christmas everyone!

Michelle - November 17, 2015 - 10:56 pm

Christmas Eve communion as a family then milk and cookies set out for Santa before we read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Julie - November 17, 2015 - 10:52 pm

Reading a few verses of the story of Jesus’ birth from the Bible in our Advent calendar everyday in December is a favorite tradition.

Jamie hicks - November 17, 2015 - 10:49 pm

This is the first year my sisters fam, our dad, stepmom, mom, stepdad and my family are all living in the same area and I’ve just had a double masectomy. I won’t know if I need chemo for another 2 weeks but my lymph nodes were clear. So not really a tradition but this year is as special as it could possibly be. Absolutely surrounded by love , blessings, and support.

Tiffany - November 17, 2015 - 10:46 pm

I just love the Christmas season. On Christmas Eve we all get new pajamas. During the day we always prepare reindeer food to sprinkle outside before going to bed and set out the cookies and milk for Santa. My boys have enjoyed this for several years and this year my daughter is old enough to really enjoy these little traditions as well?

Jessica - November 17, 2015 - 10:45 pm

Having a special family dinner after church on Christmas Eve. Is a nice calm evening where we think about the meaning of Christmas and of course start some gifting to those who are sharing in the evening.

Kelly - November 17, 2015 - 10:37 pm

Every Christmas Eve my neighborhood lines the streets with luminaries (I live in the same neighborhood ingre up in). We have roulatin for dinner while listening to Neil Diamond Christmas carols. After dinner we drive slowly through the neighborhood looking at lights. I always thought the luminaries were there to light the way for Santa.

Gina V - November 17, 2015 - 10:34 pm

My favorite holiday tradition is our toast before Christmas dinner with my entire family. It started with just my parents and my 3 sisters, but now yrs later our husbands and children are in the mix and everyone knows we will spend the first 20 mins at the table sharing what we are grateful for. The funniest time was when my youngest sister (around age 7) said she was grateful for nacho cheese and chips. She’s now 34. There are usually tears of joy, but this year will be particularly special since my dad has recently overcome a major health issue.

Brenda G - November 17, 2015 - 10:31 pm

Much needed family time! This year will be the first year my daughter is old enough to really understand the meaning of the season and Im so excited to start new traditions with her

Robyn Stanworth - November 17, 2015 - 10:30 pm

Driving around to see Christmas lights/decorations. I love hearing their excitement as they try to be the first to point out something.

Donna Hagen - November 17, 2015 - 10:29 pm

My favourite holiday tradition is actually an Advent one, so pre-Christmas! 😉 A couple of years ago when my oldest daughter was 7 she wanted to challenge herself to do an Advent project that would raise money for a local charity. She ended up deciding to make and sell bags of Peppermint Bark (white chocolate and crushed candycanes)and she chose our local SPCA (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)as the beneficiary of all proceeds. In her first year she able to raise over $150 and for 3 years her sales have increased from this labour of love – she is just about to turn 10 and this year she will likely top the $1000 mark for total sales/donation. It is a wonderful thing when the holiday excitement is about giving, not just getting!

Michele - November 17, 2015 - 10:26 pm

Driving around as a family enjoying the snow, lights,Christmas music. Above all…just being with family

Marti Markus - November 17, 2015 - 10:26 pm

One of our favorite traditions this time of year is spending time with good friends who celebrate different holidays. In our group of friends, there are people who are Christian, Jewish and Hindu. We will go to each other’s houses to let the kids see how our different families celebrate together. We usually have dinner together and eat traditional food for that holiday. I absolutely love it. It exposes all our kids to the diverse ways people celebrate as loving families.

Trish - November 17, 2015 - 10:25 pm

My favorite traditions is putting up the trees. The main tree has so many ornaments that are special to me. Some homemade some are from my grandmother some from my mom and children. Each one has a story and I love telling my grand babies those stories. As the kids get each one out of the box they will ask what about this one. Even though they heard them last year. I love seeing their faces as I tell them how I got them. My mother had her ornaments for so many years and every year would tell their stories. I am raising 2 gbabies and I hope they keep this tradition going. It might take a couple of days getting it done but I love every second of it.

Becky Bain - November 17, 2015 - 10:20 pm

We have so many! My favorites are baking cookies for Santa. We then open the first gift new pjs(totally missed out on MJ pjs!) a movie, and a snack for the movie. Before the movie the kids have to find the pickle on the tree. The first to find it gets to open the first present on Christmas morning. We then cuddle up and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the kids favorite!

Christine Isabella Taylor - November 17, 2015 - 10:14 pm

Love going to the city to see the tree @Rockefeller Center NYC – would love for her to wear one of these beauties there – that ballerina is TDF! (we will take indoor pics around the city 😉 – December in NY brrrrrrr!!)

Heather Mills - November 17, 2015 - 10:12 pm

Every year my mom allowed us to open one small gift on Christmas Eve, and then Christmas morning we had to set at the top of the steps and wait for everyone to go down at the same time. She passed away when my daughter was just 3 months old and didn’t get to be here for hers or my nephews first Christmas, but we still follow her tradition of opening one small gift Christmas Eve, and going downstairs the next morning as a family.

Jamie Thompson - November 17, 2015 - 10:11 pm

Everything is so beautiful! I hope I’m able to cart a stocking or 2!

My favorite holiday tradition camping out as a family in front of the freshly decorated tree the night after thanksgiving- sleeping bags, cookies, a Christmas movie and lots of snuggles.

Monica O'Bryan - November 17, 2015 - 10:09 pm

I have soooo enjoyed reading everyone’s traditions. Our family has a passion for Operation Christmas Child. So that is our most fun tradition is packing as many boxes as we possibly can for other children. Another thing we like to do is make Grinch floats (Sprite and lime sherbet) and watch the Grinch during December! Love the new platinum line and would love to be the owner of a holiday piece:)

Nicole Blake - November 17, 2015 - 10:09 pm

My mom still reads ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas even though we (her kids) are all in our 30’s. We still gather around her and listen intently. Now there are grandchildren listening too. It is my favorite Christmas Eve tradition.

Patty Little - November 17, 2015 - 10:06 pm

On Christmas Eve we have an early dinner, watch “It’s a Wonderful Life” then go to mid-night mass. Everyone goes to bed and I stuff the stocking, finish wrapping gifts, tweak the setting, have a little “me time”…..then go snuggle with my Santa.
Life is good!!!

Alyce Brennan - November 17, 2015 - 10:06 pm

We always love to watch Christmas Vacation, make cookies and go church on Christmas Eve for 6 pm service.

Laura Wagener - November 17, 2015 - 10:05 pm

Beautiful! One of our favorite Christmas traditions happens on Christmas Eve. We attend our Christmas Eve service, which ends with candle lighting and singing “Silent Night.” We then attend a Christmas Party with 4 generations of my husband’s family, well over 100 people! It is so fun to get to know great uncles and second cousins. During the party, Santa comes to meet with the children and give them a small gift before heading out to deliver presents. It is a wonderful night, full of good food, family and Christmas memories.

Sarah Halbesma - November 17, 2015 - 10:02 pm

“We always get new pj’s, watch a family Christmas movie, and enjoy hot chocolate with lots of whip cream!” ~Isabel Age 8 and Addison Age 4

Kate - November 17, 2015 - 9:57 pm

We make a birthday cake for baby Jesus. I’m excited about it this year because my oldest is almost three and I’m teaching her the Happy Birthday Jesus song.

Amy H - November 17, 2015 - 9:56 pm

I spend the morning with my colleagues blessing some less fortunate families in our community with gifts and food for the holidays, then it’s home to my own little family to have traditional French Canadian tourtiere (meat pie) for supper followed by watching “The Sound of Music” – not really a Christmas movie but a tradition for us nonetheless! I always cry at the same part…

Mallory - November 17, 2015 - 9:55 pm

Our favorite Christmas tradition is going to the tree farm to pick out the best tree with papa and Mimi, cut it down and go home to string popcorn and cherrios to hang on the tree.

Natty - November 17, 2015 - 9:55 pm

Christmas movies in jammies an home made hot chocolate with giant marshmallows on Christmas eve, followed by a bedtime story and some extra ‘Cheer’ for the adults 😉

Katie Engelbert - November 17, 2015 - 9:53 pm

We started our own tradition last year! The kids get Jammie’s on Christmas Eve! This year will include the blankets!! Then Christmas morning, I get a picture of the kids in their Jammie’s by the tree! I don’t know how I’m going to keep from giving these cute Jammie’s earlier….

Bronwyn - November 17, 2015 - 9:51 pm

My new favourite Christmas tradition is my Mom buying all the grandkids and cousins matching PJ’s! Started it last year and it’s going to continue year after year now!!! She already had the jammies for this year!!!

Katie Ziegler - November 17, 2015 - 9:45 pm

When I was a little girl I loved going to my Grandma’s house to make Christmas cookies. My grandmother passed away a few years ago, but we have carried on the tradition and now go to my mom’s house to bake all day. Now my little girl gets to go over to her Mimi’s house and bake all day with her grandma and me. It’s something I look forward to each year!

Stephanie - November 17, 2015 - 9:37 pm

My husband is former military and this will be the first year that we are able to spend Christmas together in “our home”. I’m very excited to start traditions with our girls 🙂

Nellie - November 17, 2015 - 9:37 pm

We like to decorate the kitty with the bows and ribbons that come off the gifts. Unfortunately, he passed away recently, so we will need to come up with a new tradition ?. He sure loved the gift opening!

Andrea - November 17, 2015 - 9:36 pm

Driving around listening to Christmas music and looking at all the lights with the kids.

Alanna George - November 17, 2015 - 9:36 pm

My kids all make handmade gifts for one another. Since they are all quite young I get to help them. Last year my son who loves to draw used a glass marker to make a custom drinking glass for each sibling. Another one of my younger children used stamps to decorate tiny muslin bags and then choose special hard candies to fill each bag for the intended sibling. I’m already brainstorming with each of my children to help them come up with a hand made gift idea for this year!

Shannon - November 17, 2015 - 9:34 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is going to mass in Christmas Eve, coming home to appetizers with our entire family and opening new Christmas jammies before bedtime. Simple, but always something we all look forward to each year!

Shacie Fielder - November 17, 2015 - 9:32 pm

Shopping with my kids for gifts for less fortunate children and then delivering the presents to the kids parents for Santa to deliver to them on Christmas morning.

Raegan Starbuck - November 17, 2015 - 9:31 pm

Baking cookies from scratch for Santa, wrapping gifts with my husband after kids are asleep and making our traditional breakfast casserole to cook all night to be ready christmas morning!

Aliesha Brown - November 17, 2015 - 9:31 pm

We take family communion at our church on Christmas Eve, cookies and milk for Santa’s arrival, and after opening our own gifts at home on Christmas morning, we have breakfast at my children’s great grandparents’ house. We are blessed to live nearby most of our family and spend the holidays among the ones we love most!

Angela wilson - November 17, 2015 - 9:30 pm

Being a military family holding on to traditions was very important to me. When our oldest was little a friend shared with us their tradition of driving around together looking at Christmas lights and coming home to make shakes with peppermint ice cream and eggnog. We loved it so much we’ve carried on the same tradition every year. Thankfully due to Facebook we’ve been able to keep in touch and I’ve shared with her how much we enjoy their tradition to this day ♡

My favorite holiday tradition would be making cookies on Christmas Eve for Santa, finishing up last minute wrapping with a cup of hot cocoa and “A Christmas Story” looping on TV, midnight mass, waking up super early to look at the beauty under the tree (no matter how little or how much was there) and watching the Christmas parade while opening gifts. I’m so very lucky and blessed to be able to carry on these traditions with my own children now. There is absolutely nothing like seeing Christmas through the eyes of your children.

Monica - November 17, 2015 - 9:28 pm

We love to go to the live nativity and Dickens alley in our town to kick off the season! Would love to be able to wear some holiday plat to them!

Kim Pollock - November 17, 2015 - 9:28 pm

I love Christmas Eve just being with the family, celebrating Jesus, playing Christmas songs on the piano and guitar and opening up their new PJs.

Tavia Bloom - November 17, 2015 - 9:23 pm

How do I pick just one favorite tradition??? Christmas is my ALL time FAVORITE holiday! It all begins with our Christmas Eve service at church, then we rush home to bake goodies for Santa while watching Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer and drinking hot cocoa. Then it’s lights outs. We begin Christmas morning with the reading of Jesus Birth from the Bible, have a blast spending time with family and opening gifts, and last but certainly not least, we end the day with a birthday cake and song for Jesus! Those are the highlights. We go all out for Christmas!

Mandy H - November 17, 2015 - 9:21 pm

My favorite holiday tradition is baking and making candy with my mama and my sister. All of our gifts come with a sweet treat! This will be our first Christmas without our mom, but we will continue the tradition with our daughters!

Jennifer arlet - November 17, 2015 - 9:20 pm

We get all ready in Christmas pajamas, open one small Christmas Eve gift (Like a game to play or book to read) and have family time using it and then cookies for Santa and carrots and celery are put out for Santa and his reindeer. The kids get tucked in, and then the presents come out!

Misti Meredith - November 17, 2015 - 9:20 pm

Some of my favorite traditions are making gingerbread houses as a family and hearing a reading of the Night Before Christmas.
Mostly, I love being with my family…..treasuring every moment.

Katie R - November 17, 2015 - 9:17 pm

I love making a huge mess making Christmas cookies with my kids. I love how we usually end up with more hideous cookies than pretty cookies because they cannot stop laughing at their crazy and sometimes naughty creations.

Mary T. - November 17, 2015 - 9:17 pm

I love decorating the tree with my kiddos and watching Christmas movies next to the fire. 🙂

Katie - November 17, 2015 - 9:16 pm

This is my first Christmas as a mommy! So excited to continue old traditions as well as start new with my daughter! Can’t wait to get her a stocking!!!!

Katie Pangrazio - November 17, 2015 - 9:16 pm

Favorite tradition is baking cookies for friends and loved ones …

Brandy - November 17, 2015 - 9:12 pm

Love the pretties!!!
We have a fun holiday tradition: we put clues on the tags of presents and before the person opens the gift they have to read the clue and try to guess what the present is 🙂 happy holidays platinum 🙂

Ashley Peters - November 17, 2015 - 9:11 pm

Spending Christmas Eve at my parents’ house, a carryover from when we were younger and would go to my grandparents’ on Christmas Eve =)

Abby Petzoldt - November 17, 2015 - 9:10 pm

Decorating Christmas cookies at my 87 year old grandma’s house! The tradition started almost 40 years ago when I was little, and now it continues on with her great grandchildren. It’s a huge big wonderful mess with icing and beads and sprinkles everywhere…but we all love every second of it!

Meagan M - November 17, 2015 - 9:10 pm

I am beyond excited for these holiday pieces! We NEED some plat stockings in our lives. My favorite tradition is snuggling in our new Christmas Pjs and watching Christmas movies ?

Sarah - November 17, 2015 - 9:09 pm

We love to take a carriage ride to look at the holiday lights with hot chocolate and a warm blanket!

Kristen D - November 17, 2015 - 9:08 pm

My favorite Holiday tradition is going over to my sisters house for Christmas morning. There is just something special about the family all being together reminiscing over a cup of coffee before the hustle and bustle of opening presents and large family gatherings take over the day.

Rebecca Whittington - November 17, 2015 - 9:08 pm

Each year my family decorates our car with Christmas lights and joins our town’s Christmas parade. It always starts after dark, so all of the cars and floats are lighted! My kids love it!!!

Monica Hammons - November 17, 2015 - 9:07 pm

Each year on Christmas Eve, we attend the family Mass at our church. Both of my children participate in reenacting the nativity story. After church, our home is open to family and friends for a celebration. When guests have gone, my kiddos open one gift – always new Christmas pjs – and we snuggle in front of the tree.

Ana Howard - November 17, 2015 - 9:07 pm

Every year my animal loving kids get an adoppted animal (stuffed animal) that represents the animal we donate to help preserve. They have a basket full of them and they are their favorite toys.

Chris D - November 17, 2015 - 9:06 pm

We open new family pjs Christmas Eve after Mass, cut down our own tree as a family and eat the cookies we baked for breakfast Christmas morning.

Eve - November 17, 2015 - 9:05 pm

It’s so hard to pick just one! One of my favorite is spending Christmas Day at my, now 90 year old, grams’ house. It’s the only place I have ever spent Christmas Day and she always makes a special dish with each person in mind. Our whole family gets together, which is usually the only day of the year that happens as well!

Jennifer - November 17, 2015 - 9:05 pm

We love to get a tree together and then decorate listening to Christmas songs!!!

Haley Hays - November 17, 2015 - 9:04 pm

Favorite holiday tradition is putting the tree up the day after Thanksgiving, and also baking candy and cookies for the holidays!

Danusia Coumans - November 17, 2015 - 9:02 pm

My favorite tradition is the gathering of three generations to prepare the same traditional Polish meal we eat for Christmas Eve. We laugh, we share, and prepare for the big day.

Natalie - November 17, 2015 - 8:58 pm

Each year we went to my grandmothers on Xmas eve for her Xmas soup. It hasn’t been the same since my father passed away at Xmas time 2009. This Xmas we will be a bit lost as my grandmother is in hospice with terminal cancer. I hope she will be with us at Xmas and to eat so I can make the traditional soup for her

Brooke - November 17, 2015 - 8:56 pm

We love reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and leaving milk and cookies for Sabta on Christmas Eve (in their MJ pajamas)!

Savannah Cochran - November 17, 2015 - 8:54 pm

One of my favorite holiday traditions is making all kinds of homemade candy with my Mawmaw (inlaw)!!! Now, sharing this tradition with my little girl and little boy makes it even more special! 🙂 ❤️

Rachel W - November 17, 2015 - 8:53 pm

My family has many Christmas traditions that I loved as a child and still cherish today. Now, I enjoy sharing them with my children! My favorite traditions bring the whole family together. We always go together to choose a live tree to bring home. Then we decorate it, while listening to favorite Christmas music

Rebecca withers - November 17, 2015 - 8:52 pm

My family terdituons are about my little ones and doing what they want. Couch forts, late night reading or pizza and pop corn in bed. Letting them choose memories for us.
Santa leaves socks in their beds so my husband and I can have a few extra minutes together
Merry Christmas.

Carrie Betz - November 17, 2015 - 8:51 pm

Love this! We go simple and old school…we set out cookies and milk for Santa, treats for the reindeer, we read the Night Before Christmas, and then it’s off to bed for the “longest sleep of the year”! Then mom and dad make the “magic” happen?

Karissa - November 17, 2015 - 8:50 pm

Our favorite traditions are picking out gifts for the angel tree as a family and trying to make it extra special for the children we are gathering presents for.
We also love our tradition of reading a new Christmas book each night in December. We wrap the books (re-using the same ones each year) and open a new one each night to read as a family.

Melissa - November 17, 2015 - 8:46 pm

I love listening to Christmas music while decorating the tree and making special cookies I only make for Christmas.

Angela Smith - November 17, 2015 - 8:45 pm

There are too many traditions to count! I especially love Christmas Eve communion service followed by a family dinner on the nice china and a Happy Birthday Jesus cake, complete with singing. The kids like our standard breakfast of Christmas cookies and sausage balls. Who wants to cook or clean up when there are presents to open?!

Lindsay mcCarthy - November 17, 2015 - 8:42 pm

Xmas eve laughing with my cousins.

Ida - November 17, 2015 - 8:42 pm

Taking my niece to the Nutcracker Ballet since she was 2 (she’s 10 now). It’s always magical! Love Christmas!!

Toni Peanick - November 17, 2015 - 8:40 pm

The best part of all of my holiday traditions is taking my girls to the nursing home to deliver cookies to the elderly. My great grandmother and grandmother were both at the same nursing home but have since passed and we still carry on the tradition. The elderly love seeing the girls ESPECIALLY in their patchwork dresses. It not only makes them feel loved but it makes my girls see the true meaning of the holidays. Dressing in your best, celebrating Jesus and giving joy to those who may not have had any.

Chrystal Turner - November 17, 2015 - 8:39 pm

Our favorite holiday tradition is baking cookies with the family and opening just a couple of wrapped presents under the tree before Candle Light Service at Church on Christmas Eve.

Christin Raley - November 17, 2015 - 8:39 pm

I have a 4 year old daughter and her Daddy and I, we make Oreo balls for Christmas for Santa! She surely knows how to make it messy but it’s one time that I just let her have so much fun! That’s just one tradition we have started! Her baby sister will be here December 22, so we will have lots more to take in and be thankful for!! ❤️????

Jennifer Baker - November 17, 2015 - 8:39 pm

I love ALL our Christmas traditions. Candlelight service at church on Christmas Eve, opening one gift (new pjs) before bed (it’s so fun to sleep in new pjs!), and last year we started a tradition of wrapping 25 Christmas books and opening one each night of December, and of course opening The Night Before Christmas last! It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Connie Howard - November 17, 2015 - 8:36 pm

Going to the tree farm and cutting down our own tree…especially riding the train there to where the trees are for that year….such fun.

Jill - November 17, 2015 - 8:36 pm

We have several traditions. A favorite is decorating the Christmas tree. My daughters love when Sparkle Heart, our little elf, returns.

Lydia George - November 17, 2015 - 8:35 pm

A favorite tradition is for my kids to make reindeer “food” and run around on CHRISTMAS Eve throwing oats, carrots and of course Glitter in the yard. This makes it possible for the reindeer to see our house from way up high.

Lisa L. - November 17, 2015 - 8:34 pm

We love kicking off the holiday season by attending our city tree lighting! We sing Christmas carols, drink hot cocoa, take a carriage ride and then at the very end are always amazed at how beautiful the tree looks each year when it is finally lit! This is something we look forward to each year! Merry Christmas to all of you ladies at Matilda Jane Clothing! Thanks for helping to make our season brighter as well!

Lydia - November 17, 2015 - 8:33 pm

My husband has missed more Christmases with his family than he’s been present for because of deployment and the fact he works offshore. So we celebrate Christmas Eve and day when he’s home. My favorite part is when he tells the Christmas story. First we all get in our Christmas pjs. Then we turn off all the lights. My husband sits in a chair with his bible and a flashlight. As he tells the story of the first Christmas, he puts the characters of the nativity on the table beside him. It is so sweet to see him and to see the kids so excited to hear it. I can’t help but smile and tear up a little as he reads through. Then we finish off with a family prayer. Hands down my favorite tradition!!!

Katie - November 17, 2015 - 8:33 pm

We always eat meatball subs on Christmas Eve in honor of my grandfather who used to make them for us.

Mandy - November 17, 2015 - 8:33 pm

Candlelight service, tamales, and opening new jammies on Christmas Eve!

Lindsay dickerson - November 17, 2015 - 8:32 pm

One of my favorite traditions is the sibling gift exchange the night before. Both my children are given an alloyed amount the week before Christmas to go and buy the other whatever they think they will like most – no matter how awful, tacky, and/or wonderful it is. they are more excited to give to the other than to open anything else and they actually hold those items most dear after the holidays.

Katherine Anne - November 17, 2015 - 8:32 pm

Our very favorite Christmas tradition is making our homemade fingerprint ornaments. Every year I buy clear glass ornaments and we fill them with glitter, snowflakes, pom poms, and other fun things the kids choose. We then pick an annual theme and make fingerprint designs on the front. One year was snowmen, then reindeer, and Christmas lights… This year we are planning on making Santas. We also have the tradition of driving through the mooseheart lights festival. It is a residential childcare facility for children in need. All proceeds are used to provide care and for upkeep of the facility.

Dana Summerville - November 17, 2015 - 8:32 pm

Every Christmas Eve we gather with our families and celebrate life.We each get to open a small present and then we bake cookies. The kids get Santa’s plate ready with cookies and a mug of milk and we sprinkle reindeer food throughout the yard (glitter and oatmeal) so they know where to land!! Oh and don’t forget a carrot for Rudolph

Lundy - November 17, 2015 - 8:30 pm

Going ice skating downtown with family!

Danielle - November 17, 2015 - 8:30 pm

On Christmas Eve we open a box filled with Christmas pj’s, our favorite Christmas movies, hot chocolate with all the extras, and popcorn. We then get comfy and watch movies. My girl is already talking about it. 🙂 It’s one of her favorite traditions.

Wendy - November 17, 2015 - 8:29 pm

My favorite tradition is watching my kids perform in the Christmas musical at church. ????

Jennifer Weiher - November 17, 2015 - 8:24 pm

Our church does an angel tree every year. We pick two kids off the tree close to my girls’ ages. Then we take my girls shopping to buy the items on the kids wish lists. Our way of making someone else’s Christmas a little brighter.

Jerry - November 17, 2015 - 8:21 pm

We sponsor a needy family in our area and provide them with gifts and holiday dinner. My children love “playing elves”. Happy Holidays (:

Julie - November 17, 2015 - 8:21 pm

It’s hard to pick just one! But when my little brother and my SIL and dad come up for Christmas we still watch Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story and drink hot cocoa after being out on the town at a favorite Christmas venue that we’ve taken my girls too and papa reads ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to the girls before the go to bed.

Lindsay - November 17, 2015 - 8:20 pm

We love our candlelight Christmas Eve service it’s such time of joy and peace before a busy day ahead. I love watching everyone sing with a candle glow on their faces. <3

Cara Theriault - November 17, 2015 - 8:20 pm

We love to spend the day with our children on Christmas morning! The night before they open 1 gift from grandma which is Matching Christmas pj’s!! Then Christmas morning it’s just us,big breakfast, coffee, church, excitement on kiddos face, opening presents, enjoying time spent all day!! It’s the one Holiday my husband doesn’t like traveling here and there, just waking up at home w/ kids!!

Karen - November 17, 2015 - 8:19 pm

So many favorite traditions…one favorite is dessert on Christmas Day is always birthday cake and we sing ‘Happy Birthday, Jesus’. The kids love it and it’s a great reminder (on their level) of what it’s all about.

Samantha P. - November 17, 2015 - 8:19 pm

We volunteer to wrap and deliver gifts for a local toys for tots as my husband is in the military (:

Kim McCarty - November 17, 2015 - 8:16 pm

We have a tradition of staying home in our pj’s all day on Christmas Day, my husband, my 2 girls, and I. We started this the first Christmas my oldest was born and have continued it since. Anyone who wants to drop in is welcome but we don’t go anywhere. So much of the holidays is running from one place to the next, food and gifts to an excess. Not Christmas Day though. We stay in our pjs, play when we want to play, sleep when we’re sleepy, eat when we’re hungry……no agenda, no timeline to stick to, no worries. Just time with our 2 girls, enjoying each other.

Jennifer Bearden - November 17, 2015 - 8:13 pm

Coloring strips of paper to count down the days till Christmas, and linking them together to form a chain. Each day you tear another one off, until finally it’s Christmas!!! But this year is super special, bc it will be my first and only child’s first Christmas?!

Kate edwards - November 17, 2015 - 8:13 pm

We bake homemade gingerbread as a family every year and decorate gingerbread houses. We also have a special breakfast the morning our elf on a shelf returns!

Noelle - November 17, 2015 - 8:13 pm

Opening our family gifts on Christmas Eve – those $5 gifts my girls shopped for at their school Christmas Shop. They buy for each other & Mom/Dad. By opening on Christmas Eve, they don’t get lost. Each one has so much thought & meaning ?

Kolbi Knight - November 17, 2015 - 8:12 pm

My favorite holiday tradition was getting new pjs on Christmas Eve and then squeezing in bed with my two sisters for a night spent waiting for Santa!!!

Brittany Selph - November 17, 2015 - 8:05 pm

My kids love when their elf on the shelf comes every year !

Gina Curell - November 17, 2015 - 8:03 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition stems from a power outage we had over Christmas a few years ago. There was a mega ice storm here in Michigan and all power was lost in most of our town and surrounding areas. The power went out on December 20th. Unfortunately for us, it wasn’t scheduled to be back on until December 28th. Without a generator and only having a small room in the house with a little fireplace, my family (all 6 of us) piled in and made that room “home.” It seemed as though Christmas was going to be ruined ( in my head anyway), but the kids loved it! On Christmas Eve they roasted hot dogs and went to sleep by the fireplace with little sugar plums dancing in their heads, no Christmas lights, no cookies, no regular Christmas fun, but they loved it! Every year now, they pile into that little room and beg for the fireplace to be lit, we eat hotdogs, roast marshmallows and they fall to sleep on the floor dreaming of their Christmas surprises.

Tara - November 17, 2015 - 8:02 pm

I love that my husband has started to read The Night Before Christmas to our twin daughters, they love the rhythm of the story and their eyes light up when they hear it.

Jennifer - November 17, 2015 - 8:02 pm

Pretending it’s bedtime and then once the kids have been in bed about five minutes, we say, “surprise, let’s go” and we all get into the car where cookies and hot chocolate are waiting and we drive around to look at Christmas lights.

Ashlee newman - November 17, 2015 - 7:58 pm

I am soooo excited for this event!

Our favorite tradition is going out to look at all the lights with hot chocolate then we come home and watch Xmas movies in our new Xmas pjs 🙂

Megan - November 17, 2015 - 7:57 pm

The Friday after Thanksgiving I spend the entire day doing everything Christmas with my two girls. I didn’t grow up memories form the holidays with my family so it has been very important ever since the adoption of my first daughter to make as many memories as we could, and to start new traditions that I hope they will carry on some day.
We spend the day decorating the house/tree, making goodies, doing crafts (we love to make homemade ornaments for everyone) and writing our Santa letters all while blasting Christmas memories.
We end the day with watching Polar Express and eating some of our freshly made goodies.

Jen H. - November 17, 2015 - 7:57 pm

Baking cookies with family.

Marla H. - November 17, 2015 - 7:57 pm

We love decorating Gingerbread houses every Christmas season! We play Christmas music and sip hot cider and hot cocoa while decorating! It’s so much fun. We are going to invite our new neighbors to decorate together this year and have a gingerbread decorating party!

Amanda - November 17, 2015 - 7:53 pm

How can you just pick one?! I love love love cooking and baking for family and friends. Every Christmas morning waking up super early, opening gifts, then having a delicious breakfast of homemade Biscuits and Sausage gravy.

Jennifer - November 17, 2015 - 7:52 pm

A favorite tradition of mine is that we go to my Mom’s for Christmas Eve and she always makes a birthday cake for Jesus. Now our kids are enjoying her tradition. It’s my hope they will remember the real reason for the season. Looking forward to seeing all the pretties!

Heather Brannan - November 17, 2015 - 7:52 pm

Our favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the Christmas tree while listening to our favorite holiday music, seeing the Christmas lights and opening up our pajamas Christmas Eve to wear that night! ?

Chrissy W - November 17, 2015 - 7:52 pm

My favorite holiday moment is seeing my husband snuggle up with our little sweetie on Christmas Eve to read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, like his dad used to do. We just found out we’re expecting #2, and I can’t WAIT to carry out this tradition with both! 🙂

Krystal Gerlach - November 17, 2015 - 7:52 pm

Hopefully now that my twins are 2 I’ll be able to remember our tarditions! Ha. We open pjs and make cookies with the cousins on Christmas Eve. I have 4 from 17-2 and my brother has 4 from 10-18 months. It’s a grand time.

Danielle Groves - November 17, 2015 - 7:49 pm

Making tiny snow villages on the shelves with my mom when I was a little girl!

Shari - November 17, 2015 - 7:42 pm

We do a theme each year year and decorate the mantle and wreaths – sometimes it’s based on a big holiday movie release like last year was Into the the woods with little red and cute forest critters – this year I went with our love for all things HARRY POTTER with burgundy & gold ribbon – white owls / silver stags and cute wizards!

Blondy Shupp - November 17, 2015 - 7:41 pm

Love! Love! Love! ???
Our favorite tradition is when Maw Maw comes over, and we decorate our Christmas Tree. This is also our designated time to make peanut butter balls. We usually make a batch for us to enjoy, and a batch to give away. When making these, it’s all hands on deck! Grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, and kids all spend time together. Who doesn’t love Christmas music, decorating the tree, and making sweets with grandma?? ???

Alicia - November 17, 2015 - 7:39 pm

We have a few Christmas traditions that we love…we enjoy hot chocolate and watch Christmas movies as a family one night a week, we love making sugar cookies and decorating them, (and one of our favorites) we travel to the North Pole via a port hole in Flagstaff, AZ and get to visit Santa’s Workshop and meet Santa! Since we have moved to Arizona away from our family, we celebrate Christmas Eve with our friends and go to Church to serve and worship. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Jessica H - November 17, 2015 - 7:38 pm

My favorite thing to do is watch Christmas movies with my family and letting my kids each decorate their gingerbread house.

Pam - November 17, 2015 - 7:38 pm

This year we’ve incorporated “The Cardinal” into our holiday tradition with decorating. My daughter and her 2 daughters absolutely love the new releases that include the cardinal print. My daughter purchased them for her 10 year old and 1 yr in honor of their Great Great Grandmother who passed away last year on Christmas Day at the age of 99. We know everytime we see or hear a cardinal that it’s Our Grandma letting us know she’s with us! Merry Christmas to Grandma in Heaven. Grandma’s holiday traditions live on in our children and we honor her this year with ours.

Magen - November 17, 2015 - 7:36 pm

My favorite thing we do is play games on Christmas Eve and open our Christmas jammies! Last year my husband had to join us via FaceTime from the desert, but he will be home this year!!!!

Lindsey Dawson - November 17, 2015 - 7:36 pm

I love to let my little one decorate the tree. We leave the ornaments exactly where they are placed.

Natalie - November 17, 2015 - 7:33 pm

We have a couple…going to our family friend’s Christmas tree farm and taking the wagon ride out into the tree patch to cut down our tree (now we even have friends joining us adding to the joy of this tradition), new pjs on Christmas Eve, and an omlet bar Christmas morning with my whole family at our house!

Amy S - November 17, 2015 - 7:32 pm

So excited for the Christmas art fair!!!!

My favorite Christmas Eve tradition is just spending time with my family and loved ones, baking cookies, and hanging up our stockings before heading to bed and then getting up super early to see what Santa brought! It has gotten even better after having my daugher and my oh my is she excited for Christmas!!!

Jackie Gardner - November 17, 2015 - 7:31 pm

My most favorite tradition is decorating the tree. I have so many ornaments, some from my childhood, some I made, some my grandmother made, all my grown children’s ornaments from their childhoods. Now, we are adding ornaments for my grand daughter, Kylie. It takes me 3 or 4 evenings to get all the ornaments on, because each one has a story, and I have to find just the right place to hang it.

Elizabeth middlebrook - November 17, 2015 - 7:30 pm

I love hanging Christmas lights with my kids prepare for the season! The joy in their eyes when I light the string of twinkling lights is always like they have never seen such a miraculous sight! I wish that as adults, we could maintain that level of magic. It is a great time for us to be out together, enjoying the brisk weather, and working together as a family.

Robyn - November 17, 2015 - 7:30 pm

We are still a young family creating new Christmas traditions, like matching PJs & after bed time neighborhood tours to see the “twinkle lights”, but we have always made a point to get together with extended family for Christmas Day. We travel 1200 miles to them, or they come to us. There is nothing that can replace quality time with grandparents, great-grandparents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends we call family.

Terry Lynn - November 17, 2015 - 7:28 pm

I’m so excited to see what pretties appear during this Art Fair!!
Our favourite tradition is opening a gift on Christmas Eve and this gift always contains new Christmas PJ’s for our girls. But this year, it will ALSO contain their new MJ Blanket. I can’t wait!

Shannon H - November 17, 2015 - 7:28 pm

Decorating and opening the little Dotson the advent calendar. I love the anticipation!

Lindsey - November 17, 2015 - 7:27 pm

Watching white Christmas on Christmas Eve surrounded by family all singing along.

Candace Kirby - November 17, 2015 - 7:27 pm

On Christmas Eve, the kiddos put on their matching PJ’s and we bake cookies for Santa and read about Jesus’ birth and “The Night Before Christmas.”

Fallon bridgeman - November 17, 2015 - 7:26 pm

We do a Christmas Eve box every year. It includes new christmas pajamas, a Christmas book and movie, popcorn, and everything necessary for hot chocolate. We also put everything in it to make reindeer food for Santa’s reindeer. We sprinkle the reindeer food outside. We spend the night as a family and watching christmas movies

Morgan F. - November 17, 2015 - 7:26 pm

My favorite holiday tradition is driving all over to see all of the Christmas lights! It’s a beautiful time of the year and I love to see so many people in the holiday spirit.

Lindsey - November 17, 2015 - 7:25 pm

My daughter and I make special ‘magic’ reindeer food using raw oats, christmas sprinkles, sugar crystals, quinoa, and a dash of glitter. Then right before bedtime we go outside and sprinkle it all over the front yard for the reindeer to snack on while santa is inside delivering presents 🙂

Angie Duncan - November 17, 2015 - 7:25 pm

We do a wonderful Christmas Day brunch every year.

Audrey Y - November 17, 2015 - 7:25 pm

This is our second Christmas as a family with my little two year old Liliana and now a newborn baby Makenzie. Our traditions are to color in coloring books, bake cookies, drink some hot and (warm for my baby) cocoa. All while jamming out to the jukebox listening to Baby It’s Cold Outside and decorating the house. This is my favorite time of the year.

Martha Walton-Daniels - November 17, 2015 - 7:20 pm

All my siblings and all our children and now even their children gather at Grandmother’s and the parents decorate for a special birthday that will be celebrated. Grandmother has a homemade special birthday cake with a single candle placed in the middle of the cake. As we all gather together around the tree, the oldest sibling begins to read the Christmas story from the family bible. All the children under the age of 12 sit around the beautiful decorated cake while the candle flickers against their faces, Christmas music playing softly and the tree decorated with homemade ornaments from each family. When the story has finished been read each child is reminded why we have decorated for a birthday party; it’s Jesus birthday that we have all gathered for. Happy Birthday is sung by all and the children blow out the candle and then baby Jesus is then placed in the manger by one of the littles and cake is served. This is my favorite tradition that has been passed down for 4 generations and it appears the young children will continue even after we parents aren’t around. This is our family tradition, thanks for allowing me to share.

Karen - November 17, 2015 - 7:19 pm

I am Jewish but my husband was raised Christian. As a result, thanksgiving has always been my family’s holiday and Christmas his. For 10+ years, the only Christmas we haven’t been to Vermont was when I was 39 weeks pregnant. It’s a childhood home and pretty magical. And Thanksgiving is normally home in Minnesota, with dessert having a group of extended friends and family.

Jennifer - November 17, 2015 - 7:19 pm

Baking cookies with Grandma!

Ashley DeLo - November 17, 2015 - 7:19 pm

Putting up the Christmas tree every year with our little ones. We do it at night, have matching christmas pj’s, drink homemade hot chocolate, have a special dessert and decorate the tree with Christmas music on! We all love that special family time before the holiday season gets to crazy!

Kristin L - November 17, 2015 - 7:18 pm

Our favorite tradition is reading “The Night Before Christmas” on Christmas eve. We got a recorded version of my parents reading it as well before my Father died. We also do Christmas PJs and a movie as a Christmas Eve gift!

Jenn - November 17, 2015 - 7:17 pm

Getting all of our out of town family together prior to Christmas and heading out to look at lights!

Jennifer R. - November 17, 2015 - 7:17 pm

We are adopting a sibling group. This will be our 3rd Christmas together. My favorite time is Christmas morning after Santa has come, the kids are playing with their toys and new things. We have a big breakfast when the grandparents come over to see what santa brought. That moment I sit in my chair and watch my kids filled with so much joy brings the most peaceful moment and I am reminded just how blessed we are. They filled a huge missing piece in our hearts.

Holly v - November 17, 2015 - 7:16 pm

Baking Christmas cookies with the family and giving them to our neighbors 🙂
Happy Holidays to all of you!

The Nutcracker Ballet!!!

Beth Carroll - November 17, 2015 - 7:14 pm

We go as a family to our church Christmas Eve service, to remember that Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of our Saviour. Then when we get home the boys (and now our baby girl) get to open one present…a new ornament to put on the tree. I love that when they are grown they will have a box full of ornaments that have special meanings from year to year.

Lori - November 17, 2015 - 7:12 pm

Just being together on Christmas morning with our hot cocoa & cinnamon rolls! ?

Nicole - November 17, 2015 - 7:11 pm

Driving through our local state park with my family each year, looking at the Christmas light displays.

Chastity - November 17, 2015 - 7:11 pm

Each year as we decorate our Christmas tree we reminisce about each ornament we hang . We have new ones, old ones( from my childhood) homemade ones, and ones from travel( any where we visit we buy Christmas ornaments from that place) There is a story with many of our ornaments and we re-telll them and add new ones every year. We laugh and cry as memories good and memories of loved ones no longer with us.

Jennifer Vail - November 17, 2015 - 7:10 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the entire interior of our home while listening to classic Christmas music. I used to help my parents decorate when I was growing up, and now many of those same decorations have been passed down to me. I love the time we spend together as a family reminiscing as we unwrap each ornament, each dish, each linen and each display.

Dawn Lonkert - November 17, 2015 - 7:09 pm

Riding around callaway gardens for their fantasy in lights

K Chambers - November 17, 2015 - 7:08 pm

Christmas Eve for our family is spent at “Missy” and “PC’s” house. We eat great food, open gifts and spend time together.

Stefanie C - November 17, 2015 - 7:07 pm

We like to sprinkle “reindeer food” (dry oatmeal & glitter) in the yard the night before Christmas 🙂

Kara Paro - November 17, 2015 - 7:05 pm

My Uncles are priests. As little kids, we started going to Christmas Eve Mass at their house and during mass, we’d act out the story of Christmas. This tradition has continued with the original families…now we are all grown. We all bring our children to experience Christmas they way we did growing up. They all have parts…we’ve just had to add more to fit all of our growing families 🙂

Laura - November 17, 2015 - 7:05 pm

New jammies and snuggling by the tree to read The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve <3

Katie Villien - November 17, 2015 - 7:04 pm

Our favorite family tradition is searching for the perfect Christmas tree on the evening after Thanksgiving!! It is the most perfect outing with my sweet little family! Now to copse the perfect MJ outfit for our Sawyer Christine to wear that night!!!!

Jenny Yoon - November 17, 2015 - 7:04 pm

Our holiday tradition is to have the family over for a huge breakfast feast. I’ve taken the reigns this past year and now do all the cooking and while it’s a ton of work, it’s so nice to spend Christmas morning with the people I love. We usually open presents afterwards, which tends to drive the kids bananas, but all of that anticipation is worth it, and it also teaches them that spending time with our family is the most important tradition of all 🙂

Jamie Caines - November 17, 2015 - 6:58 pm

Ohhhh, we would love our first holiday Platinum piece! One of my favorite most meaningful faves during the Holiday is taking my girls to the Homeless Shelter and letting them take gifts and goodies to the kiddos! To see their faces light up, my girls and the kids there, is the best gift we receive! My girls learn appreciation and so much more! We also read a story telling them about the true meaning of Christmas! We all end up with smiles, love and full hearts. Thank you Platinum ladies! Happy Holidays!! xx

Mary B. - November 17, 2015 - 6:56 pm

We always do Elf on the shelf. But ours can’t arrive until December the 14th…because she is busy helping Santa. Also making cookies and reading ‘Twas the Night before Christmas. Before bed we call Granny and Papaw out of state to hear our excitement of Santa coming!!

jessica pardieck - November 17, 2015 - 6:54 pm

My favorite tradition is making homemade cut out cookies and decorating them with our yummy iceing…. This tradition my Mom started and now I am passing down to my littles! We have so much fun measuring, mixing, rolling, baking and it is the biggeat mess but so much FUN… Every Christmas Eve we sit out some of the cookies for no other then Santa himself and every year he gobbles them up along with a big glass of cold milk.??

Sam - November 17, 2015 - 6:53 pm

I love watching my girls open their Christmas Eve boxes each year. It’s their favorite gift that always includes a new pair of pajamas, a special Christmas book to read together, a new Christmas movie, a Chriatmas game, hot cocoa, popcorn, and some other snacks. After the first year of opening their box, I started saving the books, movies, and games to add to the box the following year with the new ones. Now we’re able to have an entire night of fun and games, reading books, and watching Christmas movies in our new pj’s on Christmas Eve night.

Janell James - November 17, 2015 - 6:53 pm

Oh goodness there are so many. I think my favorite is our big family celebration. We play games, eat, take pics, play dirty Santa and so much more!!!

Mara Neville - November 17, 2015 - 6:53 pm

Holiday traditions, there are many growing up with not only an Italian mom, but a crafty one! She always did little finishing touches, special things Santa did, like foot prints by the fire place or one year, wrote out “ho ho ho” in big letters with construction paper. She was decades before that sneaky elf on the shelf ;). And so I like to do something a little special left by Santa each year as well. This year, he is stringing a clothesline with doll clothes. Laundry left out just like all our hanging Matilda Jane! My mom did that for me one year too…and I did it for my now, 17 year old about 11-12 years ago! It’s my 6 year olds year.

Brook Stewart - November 17, 2015 - 6:52 pm

We wrap 24 Christmas books and unwrap 1 each evening and read it as a family to countdown the days until Christmas 🙂

Sandra - November 17, 2015 - 6:52 pm

Beautiful Christmas Platinum!!
We Love Christmas! Our favorite family traditions are reading the Nativity Story and having cookies & hot cocoa. The kids enjoy putting together care packages for children in need. Another favorite is taking a drive to look at Christmas lights.

Jenna Geissler - November 17, 2015 - 6:51 pm

My grandparents who passed away in the past few years always had a love of cardinals. We always decorate with some cardinals and always look for them outside around Christmas time. I fell in love with the new cardinal theme in the Matilda Jane lines! The Justine dress is now our absolute favorite dress. I would love to see more cardinals pop up throughout the line and platinum! We haven’t purchased platinum yet but definitely would if some cardinals popped up! ?

Kelli Primm - November 17, 2015 - 6:51 pm

Decorating Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve. This year will be our baby girls first Christmas. So excited for her and her two big brothers.

Casey Mlinar - November 17, 2015 - 6:51 pm

We absolutely love Bon fires and have one just about every Christmas Eve. Living in the south makes that possible!

Emily Pacheco - November 17, 2015 - 6:49 pm

My favorite tradition is Santa coming on the morning of the 24th instead of the 25th. It allows us the whole day to enjoy our immediate family and all the Santa gifts without having to rush off to extended family’s houses for Christmas Day celebrations. 🙂

Megan B - November 17, 2015 - 6:48 pm

Every year we drive and look at Christmas lights and then go to Coney Island downtown for dinner. We don’t go there except once at Christmas time so it’s truly become a treat the kids look forward to every year! Btw, the stockings are absolutely adorable!! I hope I can cart one!

Abby - November 17, 2015 - 6:48 pm

Our favorite tradition is going together to the Christmas Eve service at church and then coming home to put on Christmas pjs and hang out stockings. Then it’s up to bed where we all sit together to read the Christmas story from the bible followed by ‘Twas the night before Christmas.

Julie - November 17, 2015 - 6:48 pm

Love the new pieces!

We put on new Jammie’s, make polyandry hot chocolate and watch a family Christmas movie together with the light of the tree lights and a fire!

Rachel Allison - November 17, 2015 - 6:46 pm

Every Christmas Eve we get snuggled in our PJs and read the Christmas Story from the Bible. Then we each tell our favorite Christmas memory from years past and snuggle with the babies in the glow of the Christmas tree with all the other lights out in the house besides the fire. Hot cocoa and popcorn are a must! It might not be perfect for everyone but it’s perfect for us. We love our little Christmas tradition and I love our little family! Happy Holiday all ???

Pam Wirges - November 17, 2015 - 6:45 pm

Actually we have two the first one staging, creating sets, and making costumes each year for our photo Christmas card with our 8 grandchildren. Then when Santa aka (Paw Paw) arrives each year to surprise the Grandchildren every year is more exciting as the little ones get a little older and the excitement on their little faces as they hug him, ask questions about the reindeer, and thank him for coming. There was a time I didn’t think we would ever have Grandchildren. Now I’m the blessed Maw Maw of 5 little girls and 3 little boys. Merry Christmas!

Kim Hailer - November 17, 2015 - 6:45 pm

Christmas eve singing at church

Holly russ - November 17, 2015 - 6:45 pm

Wow! I’d love to get my girls some of these things! Can’t wait

Lois - November 17, 2015 - 6:43 pm

Christmas was truly the most wonderful time of the year for my mama. The children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gathered at her house and every seat and lots of “floor seats” were filled. After mama died my sister found a way for us to honor her. There was a festival of trees and the trees were decorated and then bought by local businesses and the money went to the local childrens charities. The first year we made the white yarn angels with gold ribbon wings. We had more than 100 of them. We continued this for more than 20 years. Other years were snowmen, rudolph, teddy bears and others. On the 20th year we repeated the white yarn angels. Three years ago the board of directors decided not to continue and I do miss our getting together and making the ornaments and talking about how mama would love this.

Betsy Bunket - November 17, 2015 - 6:43 pm

My favorite tradition is going to church, all dressed up, on Christmas Eve with my family. After church we eat dinner at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, and the kids each get to open one gift! Then we go home, get our PJs on, and set out milk and cookies for Santa and oats for the reindeer. One of the kids reads the Christmas story from the Bible in front of the warm fireplace, and then we head to bed so Santa can come.

Michele T. - November 17, 2015 - 6:42 pm

We have been continuing my mother-in-laws family tradition of Fruit Sacks. The whole family gets together a few days before Christmas to make the bags and fill them with goodies. Then on Christmas morning after brunch we pass them out to everyone there. I still remember how welcomed I felt when I received my first bag 20 years ago and I look forward to many more years of making them.

Calli Scully - November 17, 2015 - 6:42 pm

I love going to the drive through Christmas lights with my family. Just driving through listening to holiday songs and watching the lights. Best part of the holiday!

Laurel - November 17, 2015 - 6:42 pm

Baking treats with my littles and reading ‘Twas the night before Christmas to them on Christmas Eve!

Carrie McElroy - November 17, 2015 - 6:41 pm

I love taking the girl scouts caroling and visiting the nursing home. The residents love seeing the girls all dressed up with festive headpieces and pretty dresses. This year we will also incorporate our troop Christmas Party with the residents so spread the holiday cheer. As a family my favorite tradition has always been Christmas Eve Mass or church as a family. We celebrate the Jesus first before coming home to spend family time together. Sets a great tone for the rest of the holiday!

Becky Rosencrance - November 17, 2015 - 6:41 pm

The elf shows up on the day after Thanksgiving. He is always brings fun and prizes. On Christmas Eve everyone gets a box with PJs, cocoa and a holiday movie. The elf always leaves on Christmas Eve.

Heather G - November 17, 2015 - 6:39 pm

So exciting!!! Can’t wait to see all the pretties you’ve created for us!
My favorite holiday tradition is baking cookies holiday cookies with my mom, sister & daughters!!❤️?

Shannon Winston - November 17, 2015 - 6:39 pm

My mom has always hidden one of our gifts. She creates clues that we have to find throughout the house until we find the gift. Now she does this for my daughter who loves it. She always looks forward to her “clue gift.”

Devin Tennille Martin - November 17, 2015 - 6:38 pm

Growing up we were always taught that the holidays were about giving & being a blessing to others. Each year in October our church would start collecting items for incarcerated women like socks, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, etc. We would deliver the collected items to the prison and take gifts for their children during the 1st week of December. My parents would always let my sisters & I open one gift early as a ‘reward’ for all of our hard work. Now that I’m grown up & have a family of my own, we ‘adopt’ an Angel Tree family in need & provide not only gifts but a meal as well. I pray that with this tradition we are instilling in our children the true spirit of Christmas which is to give and to be a blessing to others. ❤️?❤️?❤️???

Courtney White - November 17, 2015 - 6:38 pm

I buy my daughter 24 books and individually wrap each one. They are put under the tree in a basket with a new Christmas blanket. Every night in December after dinner, she picks one book and we snuggle under the blanket to read!!!

Kristi James - November 17, 2015 - 6:37 pm

Our fave Christmas tradition is being together as a family. With the hubs serving in the military and both of us working in healthcare we learned really fast it’s not the date you celebrate, but instead the holiday. We cherish these moments together…even if it’s not on the holiday date. Happy Holidays and God Bless!!

Michelle Lamothe - November 17, 2015 - 6:37 pm

Our favorite holiday tradition is making some hot apple cider and driving around to look at the lights. Then we all get Santa’s plate ready for his big trip!

Casey - November 17, 2015 - 6:36 pm

Watching White Christmas and other holiday classics and picking out a pre-Christmas present which is always matching festive pjs!

Alyssa V. - November 17, 2015 - 6:36 pm

I am so excited for this! My favorite Christmas tradition is setting up my Christmas Village that used to be my grandparents. They spend decades collecting and it holds so many memories for me, I’m so thankful to have it all to share with my girls!

Kerry - November 17, 2015 - 6:35 pm

On Christmas Eve “Mrs. Clause” delivers pj’s for everyone in the family. We spend the evening watching Christmas movies and singing Christmas songs and bake gingerbread cookies to leave for Santa. It’s all about family time for us!

Kari T - November 17, 2015 - 6:34 pm

We spend the day of Christmas Eve watching Elf, eating Christmas goodies, and drinking hot chocolate. That night we go to the Christmas Eve service. We are hoping to find a new church in our new town that feels like home and to celebrate the greatest gift ever given to us.

Brittany - November 17, 2015 - 6:34 pm

Christmas Eve service … Singing Slient Night by candle light and when you open the church doors… It’s CHRISTMAS!!

Dega Gross - November 17, 2015 - 6:33 pm

We always open one present on Christmas eve at Nana and Papa’s house! It’s so much fun!!

Mackinzey Price - November 17, 2015 - 6:32 pm

Christmas Eve and my Ma and Pa’s (rest his soul). My grandparents always have a big dinner with all of my aunts and uncles, cousins, and now their children. We always eat amazing food together, play games, and open presents. It’s always been my favorite ? I will always cherish these times and I will continue the tradition when my Ma is gone (hopefully no time soon).

steffanie - November 17, 2015 - 6:32 pm

Love doing 25 days of books

Rebel Judge - November 17, 2015 - 6:31 pm

Family. That’s it. Simply family. After many years active duty military posted overseas, now that we are “home”, my parents spend Christmas with us. A few years ago, at age 70, my mother had her first White Christmas EVER while celebrating Christmas with us. It was a true Christmas blessing!

Alisha Bishop - November 17, 2015 - 6:31 pm

We love celebrating Christ’s birth at church on Christmas Eve. We will be wearing Matilda Jane this year!!

Heather - November 17, 2015 - 6:27 pm

We have a huge family get together on Christmas Eve where we EAT, play card games and play Dirty Santa. The kids have a fun exchange with their cousins and the adults have a knock down drag out over cheesy gifts. The whole evening is filled with belly laughs. Then we come home, read The Night Before Christmas, put out Santa’s cookies and my big girl and I sprinkle our “Reindeer Food” in the yard. We have a huge and amazing family and our time together is so so fun but coming home to the quiet of late Christmas Eve has to be my favorite.

Jessica S - November 17, 2015 - 6:27 pm

Outsiders never seemed to like my grandmother’s gingerbread cookies (I believe someone once referred to them as “dog biscuits”), however, everyone in my family loved them. Like, really loved them. And they were made even better when my grandma would add some of those little silver ball sprinkles to the icing. NO ONE left without bringing home their very own bag on Christmas, which she had worked so hard to make, and on her birthday no less. She always made the holidays special for us.

Michelle Abel - November 17, 2015 - 6:26 pm

We love all things Christmas year round in our home! A few old traditions we still do with our children include baking, driving around to see the lights on homes, watching the Disney parade Christmas morning, and teacing our girls the real reason for Christmas. This year, we are starting a new tradition by having our two girls unwrap a new book each night that we can read together around the tree.

Crystal Littrell - November 17, 2015 - 6:24 pm

We always get a puzzle to do on Christmas Eve. I have a lot of them framed and hanging throughout our house. Also the past three years, Santa has left my children a scavenger hunt to find their favorite present. My kids love it!!

Jenny Brannies - November 17, 2015 - 6:24 pm

Sadly, I can’t participate in this. After 7.5 months, we’re finally moving back into our house after a (lightning) fire. I’m so sad to miss out but think this is awesome and I hope you ladies have fun!

My brother and I get our four kids together to bake and decorate Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve night. This will be year #5. ?

Ginger Croteau - November 17, 2015 - 6:23 pm

Our favorite holiday tradition is to put the Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving! Macy and I love decorating for Christmas, and she is quite the interior decorator and stylist even at 8 years old. This year I hope that we can follow our favorite traditions, all while she wears her very first piece of Matilda Jane Platinum.
May all of your dreams come true this holiday season!

Tonia - November 17, 2015 - 6:23 pm

Our favorite holiday tradition is going to my grandparents house on Christmas eve and spending time with our big huge family, I have never missed in 44 years, since I was a baby, but this year is bittersweet, my grandmother has cancer and has been given a very short time left, we are hoping and praying to have her here with us this Christmas and if she is here with us we know it will be her last. Either way this Christmas is going to be very hard for us all.

Sarah - November 17, 2015 - 6:23 pm

We drive through Xmas lights every year as a family. My kids look forward to it forever! Great tradition!

Kathleen - November 17, 2015 - 6:22 pm

Our daughter was born on Xmas eve, so every year we get dressed up in our MJ for a special dinner out, bday presents at home and a Yule log bday cake!

Julie A - November 17, 2015 - 6:21 pm

Watching my daughters face light up when lighting the Hanukkah menorah each night!

Nicole - November 17, 2015 - 6:20 pm

Every year we make holiday goodies at home to take in the car and enjoy as we drive around listening to Christmas music and looking at all of the holiday lights in our neighborhood and around the city!

Kelsey - November 17, 2015 - 6:19 pm

Oh I just adore those stockings!! Yay for this event. Our favorite Christmas Traditions are making cookies together. My mother, twin sister, my niece, my daughter & myself all spend the day baking away in the kitchen. We bake as many cookies as we can peanut butter, chocolate chip, sugar, oatmeal, M&Ms, and if we have time even more yummy kinds. We love to all share them with our friends & family. We work up individual tins for those we care about and pass them all out. Well we keep a few for ourselves as well. ? I’m excited to continue this tradition with my newest little to our family! It’s important to teach our little ones the real importance of the holiday season! Thank you again!

Tonia - November 17, 2015 - 6:18 pm

we have 2 favorite holiday traditions, the 1st one is playing pranks on our kids with our elf on the shelf, we always have so much fun trying to think up new pranks, our other favorite is going to my grandparents house with all of our relatives and spending Christmas eve together, there is probably 100 of us when w

Angie S. - November 17, 2015 - 6:18 pm

My favorite tradition is that every year we pick out a real, live tree that decorate and then we plant it on our land after christmas! I love how we watch them grow each year!

Kelly smith - November 17, 2015 - 6:12 pm

The weekend after Thanksgiving we all as a family get our Christmas tree and after that weekend it’s all about Christmas . Baking any yummy holiday treat ,Christmas crafts , watch as many Christmas shows as possible and we celebrate with Christmas Eve dinner at our home with our family and end the evening with our beautiful Midnight Mass at our church who every year the children do the whole nativity scene . It’s very magical !

Jennifer Baxter - November 17, 2015 - 6:11 pm

Every year we visit family out of town for a few days, but we return home on Christmas day so that our children can find what Santa has left for them under the tree! The 14 & 16 year olds are just as excited to return as the 5 year old! We five spend this day together playing with our presents, watching Christmas movies, and baking cookies and treats.

Becca Sims - November 17, 2015 - 6:09 pm

We sing Christmas carols through the hallways at our local nursing home. They love it!!! Truthfully we are more blessed with the experience than they are. Merry Christmas!

Heather - November 17, 2015 - 6:08 pm

We enjoy just doing simple things like putting on Christmas pjs, drinking hot chocolate and watching a holiday movie by treelight. <3 I can't wait!

Lori Willis - November 17, 2015 - 6:08 pm

We always get new PJs on Christmas Eve and travel to my moms house. While we are in the car we read the Stiry of Jesus’ birth.

Lauryn Hamilton - November 17, 2015 - 6:08 pm

Our favorite tradition is elf in the shelf. I know it’s a common one, but it’s 30 days of happiness for my kids ?

Ice skating in the park

Our favorite tradition is decorating the tree together and looking at all of our ornaments, recalling where we got them.

Sara Keeling - November 17, 2015 - 6:07 pm

My family’s special holiday tradition is to let our daughter open up one present. In that present she gets a new pair of PJs, a doll that momma had made for her theme of the box, hot chocolate packet, a new Christmas cup, a movie that we all watch together and some Christmas cookies. After we are done, we would make cookies for Santa and put out reindeer food for santas reindeer. ?❄️

Kelly folbrecht - November 17, 2015 - 6:07 pm

Picking out our real tree ?

Maryann E. - November 17, 2015 - 6:06 pm

Our church hosts a Hypothermia Shelter during Christmas so our family works together to cook and get presents to help make a Christmas special for someone who needs it!

Josette - November 17, 2015 - 6:06 pm

Going to see the Nutcracker every Christmas Eve. Magical!!

Emily - November 17, 2015 - 6:05 pm

My daughter and I love putting together operation Christmas shoeboxes… It’s such a small easy way to make a big impact in the life of a child. It’s definitely our favorite tradition.

Sarah Arkanoff - November 17, 2015 - 6:05 pm

Taking my kindergartener to see the nutcracker with my mother-in-law. We get all dressed up and then go to dinner after. It’s our third year going and we have such a great time!

Sarah R - November 17, 2015 - 6:04 pm

We’re big on the entire season of Advent… We do an advent calendar that’s a mix of family activities, fun events, books to read, charity, and spreading the joy of Christ with others. At dinnertime, we also light our homemade Advent “wreath” and read coordinating scripture. Helps keep us focused during the bustle of the giving season. ❤️

Jennifer Uptain - November 17, 2015 - 6:03 pm

One of my favorite holiday traditions is one that my Grandparents started with my Mom & Uncle, then they always did with me, & now I continue to do with my children is Santa’s list. On Christmas Eve all of the kids sit down & make out their “list”. Once the lists are made, we burn it in the fireplace for it to be carried up the chimney & travel to Santa like a smoke signal. This was so Santa always knew where to bring your goodies, especially if you were celebrating away from home. Then we would always make homemade sugar cookies to leave out for Santa, egg nog, & carrots for the reindeer. To top it off we would watch all the Christmas shows until bedtime…And of course new pj’s for Christmas Eve!

MaryLynn - November 17, 2015 - 6:02 pm

Every year we go to Frankenmuth to see all the holiday decorations. Then we go Bronner’s (biggest Christmas shop…ever) to pick out family ornaments for the year. Love this time of year!

Erica York - November 17, 2015 - 6:01 pm

When I was little, on Christmas Eve we would get new pajamas and a family game for all the kids. Growing up we loved playing games, and we’ll we were all a little competitive! Now with two girls of my own, we have kept the tradition going!

Brandon Henderson - November 17, 2015 - 6:01 pm

Boiled Custard! My grandmother use to make gallons of it for my huge family of aunts, uncles, 13 cousins and their spouses, and 17 little ones. She made it both “thick” and “thin” versions with homemade whipped cream in a silver cup every Christmas as the final dessert. Since Gigi has gone to Heaven, my Dad does the honors. It is the most special treat.

Amanda P - November 17, 2015 - 6:00 pm

We get matching holiday pajamas every year and wear them Christmas Eve. We make Christmas cookies together too! I love the family time that the holidays bring! <3

Justine Harter - November 17, 2015 - 6:00 pm

my favorite holiday tradition is one that I did as a child and I now do with my two girls. Every Christmas Eve we cuddle up together and read Polar Express before going to bed. The first Christmas I celebrated as a mom with my oldest daughter half way through the book I teared up because I remembered how magical those moments were in my childhood and that they will become magical moments for my children.

Bridgette L - November 17, 2015 - 5:59 pm

I pick a Xmas movie and invite the entire family over to watch it. At the end I have about 25 questions that I make up. Whoever gets the most correct gets a $50 gift cards to Lowes or Target 🙂

Brooke - November 17, 2015 - 5:56 pm

Buying a gift from the angel tree for a child that needs it. Going to the shelters and donating food, presents for the kids and clothing for the whole family. My daughter loves helping those in need so we spend our holidays helping others.

Janet - November 17, 2015 - 5:56 pm

We always as a family take a drive we call it “getting lost to look at the lights” we drive to a new area and look at all the beautiful Christmas decorations and lights.

Andrea Miller - November 17, 2015 - 5:55 pm

My favorite tradition is something that my mother-in-law started. Each Thanksgiving all of the grandchildren (13) make a Christmas ornament and then they decorate the tree. The kids range in age from 5 to 23 and they still all love it. Then one of the kids puts the angel on top. It rotates each year and there’s always a big todo about who’s turn it is. The tree is huge and covered from top to bottom in homemade ornaments. Then we take a picture of all of the kids in front of the tree. It’s fun to compare year to year as some of our nephews are now over 6 ft tall and you can only see the top of the tree. My mother-in-law passed away 5 years ago and now each family takes turns coming up with the years craft/decoration.

Courtney Chafin - November 17, 2015 - 5:55 pm

Love being able to buy for others, here in my hometown we have what is called an Elderly Tree, the local nusing homes do this for the residents. I love to pick a couple names off the trees and purchase blankets, socks, snacks, etc. Anything to take to them to make their holidays a little brighter. This year Im gonna let my twin girls take the gifts with me to help spread some cheer.

Laurie S - November 17, 2015 - 5:55 pm

making memories and holiday cookies with my kiddos, my sister and my niece and nephew ❤️

Becky Pittman - November 17, 2015 - 5:54 pm

For myself, every year I watch ‘It’s A Wondeful Life’. It is by far the best movie ever made and tear up every time at the end. For my twins, my dad reads them “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” every Christmas Eve and we make a big production of leaving cookies for Santa and carrots for his reindeer.

Colleen Houck - November 17, 2015 - 5:54 pm

Every year my kids each pick a child off the Angel tree(a tree with pictures of kids whose families struggle financially) at our church. We then make it a fun evening going out and picking out gifts for each of the special kids they picked and my kids wrap the gifts themselves and make them christmas cards. It helps us remember the true meaning of Christmas in giving to others!

Sarah - November 17, 2015 - 5:53 pm

Christmas is my birthday and I have a special mom who made sure I didn’t feel cheated. She always had a birthday party for me…just our little family with a non-Christmas themed birthday cake. Needless to say, I’m pretty crazy for Christmas! I make the day the best ever for my kiddos since it was always my favorite day of the year as a child. And of course we have a non-Christmas themed birthday cake for dessert with our holiday meal 🙂

Then we give the kids their new “yearly” ornaments to hang…each year we get them one of a character or something they’re very into (princesses, superheroes, etc) they LOVE this tradition. Then we watch a Christmas movie as a family & go to bed so Santa can come ?.

I’d have to say that baking Christmas cookies are always on the top of the holiday tradition list here. The kids loving pulling down the well-worn, handed-down-from Great Grandma recipe box and making the family favorites. Becky - November 17, 2015 - 5:42 pm

My Grandmas has been in heaven for 12 years now and Christmas changed after she left us. She loved the Holidays so much. My sweetest memories are with her helping her ice the jam came and making the popcorn in a pan on the stove so we could string it up. I miss her tremendously. She never got to meet my girls on Earth, but she would have loved them in their Matilda Jane. She was all that was colorful and happy, just like how MJ clothes are.

Lindsey Lipham - November 17, 2015 - 5:42 pm

Katie - November 17, 2015 - 5:41 pm

We (aunt/uncles, cousins, & their children) get together at my grandparents’ house. We eat, do a Christmas program (all the kids get up and sing, play music, read something), and my uncle reads the Christmas story out of Luke. It’s an amazing time that makes me thankful for my crazy family.

Once we get the kids to bed, we put fill the stockings and finish our holiday by watching “It’s a Wonderful Life.” We do so many things for the kids during the season, but I treasure the couple hours with just me and my husband the night before Christmas.

Jessica - November 17, 2015 - 5:40 pm

Our family bakes & decorated Christmas cookies on xmas eve as one of our traditions. In the weeks before Christmas the last 2-3 years we have sponsored a family for Christmas & take our kids out shopping for the family we are given. Our kids really enjoying shopping for complete strangers in need in our community. Love the online AF for Christmas pretties idea. Can’t wait to see them Thursday?

We absolutely love baking cookies together after decorating the Christmas tree! Thank you! <3

Katie Hester Smith - November 17, 2015 - 5:36 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is picking out our Christmas tree. We start the day searching for that perfect tree all together even the grandparents sometimes. After we find the perfect tree we’ll all go get a special ice cream treat. The next day we’ll decorate the house and tree while eating cookies and hot chocolate. Then end the day snuggled up watching a Christmas movie and having our favorite “snackie night” dinner in front of the tv. Our other favorite is Christmas Eve, driving around the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights on everyone’s house

Danielle Storm - November 17, 2015 - 5:36 pm

My most favorite holiday tradition can’t just be one because Christmas is such a special time of year. I have two: the first one is when we were kids, every year we would try and catch Santa. We would watch Christmas movies all night long and my mom would make homemade Carmel corn. We would stay up and watch movies all night long waiting for Santa until we we too tired and then Santa finally came. Imagine that! (There was something magical about falling asleep on the floor under the tree with the glow of the Christmas lights filling the room.) We were sooo excited he had come but sooo disappointed that we missed him! The second tradition is on Christmas morning my mom would make monkey bread for breakfast. (It was a major treat because we were very poor growing up and it was very expensive to make) It was the one time of year that we would have it. Mmmmmmmm. Well, November 30, my mom will be celebrating her 10 year heavenly birthday and to this day we (my siblings and I) all make monkey bread for our kids. The tradition is stong!

Stephanie Burch - November 17, 2015 - 5:36 pm

Christmas morning is a special time for my husband and I to celebrate with our two little girls, which leaves Christmas evening open to celebrate our oldest daughters birthday each year (she was born two months early, and came first things Christmas morning!!)!

Valerie - November 17, 2015 - 5:35 pm

Absolutely love to bake Christmas cookies with my mom, it’s an annual tradition!

Jenn - November 17, 2015 - 5:35 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is sitting up late after the kids have gone to bed, with all the lights off except the Christmas tree. Something about the peacefulness and warmth gives me a chance to catch my breath amongst the hustle and bustle of everything and truly reflect on what the season means to me and my family.

(…and bonus points if there is snow to reflect the outside lights, a warm, cozy blanket and hot cocoa to go with! )

Jessie Peckens - November 17, 2015 - 5:35 pm

We love to dress in pjs and drive around looking at Christmas lights with hot chocolate in tow 🙂

Emily - November 17, 2015 - 5:34 pm

My oldest daughter was born on December 23. We brought her home from the hospital on Christmas Day. Best Chrismas gift ever after we had struggled with infertility for a number of years! Anyway, one of the gifts she got that year was in a sweet decoupage Christmas box, and every year since there have been new Christmas pajamas in that box for our now 2 daughters to open Christmas Eve night. They put on their new jammies, put out Christmas candy and a Coke for Santa, and daddy reads them The Night Before Christmas and the Christmas story from the Bible before we tuck them into bed. It is this sweet, calm family night together that I cherish the most!

Kelly Patterson - November 17, 2015 - 5:34 pm

Amie - November 17, 2015 - 5:32 pm

We choose 6 names off of the “Giving tree” at the local mall (one name for each of our 6 children) and then shop for the children who’s named we pulled off of the tree as a family. We have so much fun choosing gifts, knowing that we will be helping to make these children’s Holidays just a little more cheerful. I love that it also allow me to teach my children the “joy of giving and helping others” starting from a very young age.

Maria - November 17, 2015 - 5:26 pm

I am from Colombia and when I was a child, we used paper lanterns that were meant to send our Christmas lists to “baby Jesus”. Baby Jesus brings us our presents on Christmas Eve and he leaves them under either the tree or the nativity, and they are always there after we come back from midnight Mass.

Mary - November 17, 2015 - 5:25 pm

Baking Christmas cupcakes and singing happy birthday to baby Jesus on Christmas Day!

Nina - November 17, 2015 - 5:25 pm

Baking cookies, packing into the car and going to look at Christmas lights, and all the family time is the best!!
I’m so bad at keeping secrets so we all shop together, and mostly forget by the time we open gifts.
The innocence in my girls’ eyes is priceless!! ❤️?

Kristen A - November 17, 2015 - 5:22 pm

Growing up we did family (mom’s side) Christmas eve dinner and presents (from aunts and uncles etc) at my Grandmas house for as long as I can remember. A few years back when my Grandma got very sick, we started doing them at my mom’s house. My Grandma has since passed away, but we still continue the tradition at my moms house. I am so glad my kids get to have the same memories I had as a kid. I remember my mom saying one Christmas eve, “mama always wanted everyone together on Christmas eve, and I will continue this tradition as long as I’m alive.”

Brandy - November 17, 2015 - 5:22 pm

Saw this and thought it would be a fun tradition: my three girls are getting a present on Christmas Eve evening. In it, they will all receive a new pair of pajamas, hot cocoa fixings, popcorn, and a new movie. We will snuggle up and enjoy the gift by the glowing tree in cozy blankets.

Jamie - November 17, 2015 - 5:22 pm

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is choosing some tags from the “Giving Tree” at church. Jesus is the reason for the season, and it feels great to be able to give gifts to those in need just as the Wise Men gave to Him. ?

Stephenie H. - November 17, 2015 - 5:21 pm

Then head down the road to my husband’s grandparents and have a white elephant exchange and play games! Kendra miller - November 17, 2015 - 5:19 pm

Our “holidays” start Halloween night when we sort candy by type and stuff the advent calendar. It is the unofficial beginning of the season for our family. (Of course jammies and looking at lights and baking cookies and seeing relatives/friends and wrapping gifts are all part of the thrill! It is so hard to pick just one favorite)

Traci - November 17, 2015 - 5:19 pm

I love baking cookies with my daughter to leave out for Santa. The trick to it is not letting Grandpa eat them all before Christmas eve.

Suz Brown - November 17, 2015 - 5:19 pm

Going up to my parents’, baking cookies, church Christmas Eve, driving around to look at tacky & fabulous holiday lights! So excited to experience Christmas through the eyes of two 3.5 year olds!

Krystal Colon - November 17, 2015 - 5:19 pm

After the kids write their traditional “Dear Santa” letters, we place it in the mailbox. Later on, my husband grabs the letters out and sends them to a good friend of ours who ACTUALLY attended Santa School! He has a beautiful Santa Outfit and really plays the part. Physique and all. 🙂 He even has a real Santa laugh!

1 week before Christmas, “Santa” shows up at our house, letters in hand and surprises the kids. Reads the letters out loud with them and also reads the book : “Twas the Night Before Christmas”. The kids have this sparkle in their eyes b/c this magical moment of Santa showing up at the house is REAL! We’ve had this tradition for 5 years now and this year will be the 6th. Can’t wait to see the Holiday Platinum, but unfortunately, we will be out of town this weekend. Such a cute contest!

Hallie - November 17, 2015 - 5:19 pm

Getting to pick out things to put in shoe boxes that the kids get to addemble at church. The kids then get to fill up the Boxs. They love it and it helps them understand what Christmas is!

Julia Jones - November 17, 2015 - 5:19 pm

Christmas is a busy time so we’ve tried to create of keeping is simple for our kids because we want the focus to be on Jesus being the real gift to us (and he got 3 gifts so it ties into that and keeping things simple). We have sausage balls on Christmas morning and the kids open their 3 gifts from us (they get more bc of their bdays being so close to Christmas plus extended family gifts). But, overall try to focus on (crazy) family togetherness and yummy food that has lots of calories we get to splurge on and the love and forgiveness God gave to us.

Sandra Knoy - November 17, 2015 - 5:18 pm

My favorite Yuletide tradition is decorating the tree after Thanksgiving with my family

Susan benson - November 17, 2015 - 5:17 pm

Danica - November 17, 2015 - 5:16 pm

Tonya - November 17, 2015 - 5:16 pm

Decorating cookies for Santa and cuddling on the sofa watching Christmas movies.

This year we will start a new tradition of a Christmas Eve box that will have new pj’s, cocoa mix, popcorn and a special movie for the children to open and use Christmas Eve night! This is the most special time of the year… Spending it with family and remembering what this time of year represents for us!!

Stephanie D - November 17, 2015 - 5:16 pm

One of my favorite holiday traditions is getting my 2 children together on Christmas Eve to open a few gifts. They each open their special Christmas PJs and then they get a shared gift…Usually it’s a box full of hot cocoa items, cupcakes and special treats. During this time we’ll set out Santa’s milk and cookies and just enjoy each others company by the fire. It’s these little moments that I cherish the most.

We love Christmastime- from getting together with family, to the Christmas Eve party foods, and the annual pinata. My favorite tradition is doing an advent calendar that reveals a part of the nativity story each day…the kids love it (and the candy!).

Katy - November 17, 2015 - 5:15 pm

Christmas Eve night with my family a my papaw’s, then riding home looking for Rudolph’s nose in the sky and seeing all the beautiful houses lit up with lights. We then get in our Christmas jammies and sit the milk and cookies out for Santa, sprinkle magic reindeer food in the yard, and then head to bed. We also leave the tree on all night so Santa can find it ?

Faith - November 17, 2015 - 5:14 pm

My mom took me to the Nutcracker ballet as a child and I have shared that tradition with my daughter. This year, my mom will be here and the 3 of us will go together! Can’t wait!

Leisha Southerland - November 17, 2015 - 5:14 pm

So excited for this holiday art fair! We have several Christmas traditions…a new ornament for each child every year, picking out a live tree together, reading The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve, new holiday pj’s, driving around to look at lights, and so many more! My favorite, though, is shopping for Operation Christmas Child boxes to ship to less fortunate children, or sponsoring angels from an angel tree. It truly better to give than to receive 🙂

Adrian - November 17, 2015 - 5:14 pm

As the years have passed my favorite traditions have as well.. from a big Italian meal on Christmas Eve night with family when I was young, tI now spending Christmas Eve with my husband’s family and watching all the cousins in their jammies opening presents. I love being a mommy and showing my children the spirit of giving and donating as I try to include them in these activities. Love hanging with my hubby and putting toys together late at night, seeing what a great dad he is 🙂

Andrea Smith - November 17, 2015 - 5:14 pm

Decorating the Christmas tree! We get dressed in jammies, blare the Christmas music, and drink hot chocolate and eat lots of cookies.
It is so fun to look at all the different ornaments that the kids have made and that have been passed down. It’s a wonderful evening full of memories followed by the grand finale of plugging the lights in.<3

Meghan May - November 17, 2015 - 5:14 pm

My most favorite tradition is one that has been going on since I was a little girl. Every year we go to the city and visit Santa at the “BIG” Macy’s. Then we enjoy brunch at the walnut room where we are greated by all the princess fairies! We then spend the night in the city and just enjoy great family time!

Sarah L - November 17, 2015 - 5:13 pm

Throughout all of life’s phases and changes, it’s sometimes hard to adjust traditions. I miss the days of knowing exactly what plans will be and who will be there. But regardless of what happens, I will be with my precious family. And THAT, my friends, is my favorite tradition – time spent with my favorite people, the ones who I love fiercely and hug a little tighter this time of year.

Elaine - November 17, 2015 - 5:12 pm

Our tradition every year is going on a family trip dubbed “snow vacation”. We live in SoCal so we look forward to it every year

Melissa Montgomery - November 17, 2015 - 5:12 pm

Everything together! Baking, decorating, playing games, putting out “reindeer food” and spreading good news and cheer to our neighbors!

Kara McCarthy - November 17, 2015 - 5:11 pm

My favourite holiday tradition is when Santa’s elves visit our house on Christmas eve and leave new jammies for the kids to wear to bed that night. <3

Heather Rigsbee - November 17, 2015 - 5:11 pm

My husband is an active duty member of the U.S. Air Force. No matter where we happen to be stationed, and even during the times that he has been deployed and not able to join us, my girls and I always take a drive to look at Christmas lights on Christmas Eve. On our way back home, while stopping at the guard shack to show ID before entering the base, we deliver the gate guards a plate of homemade cookies. It’s our way of showing our thanks for our military friends who are not able to be with their families on Christmas Eve, because they are protecting us. My daughters look forward to the act of kindness even more than oohing and aahing at the lights 🙂

Courtney Rasche - November 17, 2015 - 5:10 pm

I am starting a NEW holiday tradition this year! For every day in December, my daughter will get to unwrap a new book from under the tree! But my favorite tradition, is St. Nick night. We are catholic so on December 5th, St. Nick comes and brings new PJs and a special book and Christmas DVD.

Amanda Zimmerman - November 17, 2015 - 5:10 pm

Every year we go downtown Fort Wayne to see Santa and the reindeer all lit up, and to eat at either Coney Island or Pint & Slice, then we drive through the Festival of Lights at the zoo. (Fort Wayne peeps know exactly what I’m talking about!) I have a little sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters that goes with us every year. It’s super fun to have a tradition with my family that includes her as well!

Megan agugliaro - November 17, 2015 - 5:10 pm

Christmas evening Jammie’s (so excited this years are MJ’s!!!) and the polar express!!!!!!

Summer Jesse - November 17, 2015 - 5:10 pm

We started cutting down a tree the weekend after thanksgiving 13 years ago, my husband family has always so when we got married we started it also. The tree doesn’t go to waist after, it’s cut down we cut it into pieces and use for a fire in the spring, has such a nice smell.

Sarah G - November 17, 2015 - 5:09 pm

Beautiful pieces!! My 3 girls and I go to mass on Christmas Eve! When we get home they get to open one gift and lay out cookies and milk! It’s my favorite evening of the year!

Allie D. - November 17, 2015 - 5:09 pm

While my sister and I were growing up, our favorite tradition was throwing things at each other from across the room to wake each other up at 4 or 5 in the morning on Christmas day! We were allowed to open our stockings in our room before our parents woke up! Santa always left them at the foot of our beds 🙂

Kristin K - November 17, 2015 - 5:09 pm

Our favorite tradition is heading out with hot cocoa for the babe- Coffee for mom & dad. We all wear our PJ’s and bundle up. Drive all over town to find the best light displays. It’s so much fun and we enjoy singing Christmas Carols together while we drive. <3

Lynn Davis - November 17, 2015 - 5:09 pm

A tradition at our house is to ask around before hand and be sure all those without family nearby are invited and feel welcome at our house for Christmas Eve and day -we have 6 kids and it’s always fun to see everyone on the floor assembling, playing, hunting pieces and sharing stories-paper everywhere a brunch that lasts until dinner but relaxed and welcoming -folks have often stopped in with a treat and stayed all day -so glad to know they know it’s an open door

Loretta Czarnomski - November 17, 2015 - 5:09 pm

Making homemade pierogies with three generations of Czarnomski family cooks 🙂

Jessica H - November 17, 2015 - 5:08 pm

So unbelievably excited about this!! My family loves Christmas! It is such a special time of year! A favorite tradition from when I was a child is making a special birthday cake for Jesus. My parents still do this! Now that we have our own children, my husband and I have passed along and also started new traditions. My favorite of these is taking our girls shopping each year to purchase gifts for less fortunate children in the community. It’s so awesome seeing our children get into the giving spirit and get excited about making someone else happy. Truly magical!

Kerstin - November 17, 2015 - 5:07 pm

As a young girl, every winter, my step mother would take us to the Nutcracker Ballet. We would get dressed up, and go out for dinner and then off to the ballet.
This will be the third year I have been blessed to do the same with my oldest daughter. It truly is the most beautiful memory I hold, and seeing the wonder in her eyes, brings me back ❤️

Jessica Nevermann - November 17, 2015 - 5:07 pm

My favorite holiday tradition is the coming of St Nicholas. In our house, as the children are getting ready for bed, St Nicholas knocks on our door and quickly vanishes before the children can see him. On the front porch he leaves tangerines, peanuts, popcorn balls and a small gift to unwrap (usually pajamas). This tradition has been passed on in our family for many years. My children love to await St. Nicholas’ special knock at the door!

Tyanne McCoy - November 17, 2015 - 5:07 pm

We put Christmas pajamas on and go to my mother-in-laws for a special dinner and open gifts with them on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day we all gather together for a big family dinner.

Sharon b. - November 17, 2015 - 5:07 pm

Baking cookies for Santa and opening 1 gift!!

Vicki Mahoney - November 17, 2015 - 5:07 pm

We always make sure the reindeer have food outside and then we open one present each. The kiddos love making the reindeer food!

Katy - November 17, 2015 - 5:06 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is definitely baking cookies together! My mom and I did it and now I do it with my babies! It’s so much fun to see their faces light up when they get to sneak a taste!

Jen Greco - November 17, 2015 - 5:06 pm

I love going to the tree farm and cutting down a Christmas tree! We love it so much we go the weekend after thanksgiving so we have the tree up all month.

Sarah F - November 17, 2015 - 5:06 pm

My favorite tradition is that my girls sleep in the same bed together every Christmas Eve (they don’t share a room). I absolutely LOVE listening in on the conversations before they drift off to sleep, and the morning excitement is the best!!

Florence Taylor - November 17, 2015 - 5:06 pm

Each year we do Ronald McDonald House with our family, this year is first without my mom, we are doing that and opening her house to 6 families in her home church to Christmas dinner and gifts.

Chrissy - November 17, 2015 - 5:06 pm

We always get a special new ornament for the tree. When I was growing up my dad always went to get 20 McDonald hamburgers every Christmas Eve. He passed away last December which made the holidays sad last year.

Melissa - November 17, 2015 - 5:05 pm

Christmas pjs, make homemade cookies for Santa and read ‘Twas the night before Christmas with the kids before bed on Christmas Eve

Lisa M - November 17, 2015 - 5:05 pm

My favorite tradition is reading “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas ” to my children on Christmas Eve. My mother did the same each Christmas Eve with my sister and I growing up. Seeing the twinkle in my kids’ eyes as I read makes me reminisce on my own youth and cuddling up with my mom under the tree lights. I can smell the pine needles! Okay- off to call my mom and let her know what a great mom she is!

Ann - November 17, 2015 - 5:05 pm

Thank you for announcing this! Hooray! My favorite tradition is opening one stocking stuffer gift each day until Christmas day. Something my mom started when I was little, that I will carry on with my daughter. <3

Amanda - November 17, 2015 - 5:05 pm

We wrap 24 Christmas books and open one every night leading up to Christmas. This along with our advent calendar help us to remember to spend time with each other reflecting on Christ’s birth and to not get lost in the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

Rachel - November 17, 2015 - 5:04 pm

We love baking together (in Platinum aprons, of course!) every year. It’s a special memory from my childhood and one I love sharing with my own kids, now!

Florence Taylor - November 17, 2015 - 5:04 pm

I am beyond excited about this, thank you platinum elves !!!

Lesley L - November 17, 2015 - 5:04 pm

Time to start some new traditions, as we loved the holidays for visiting with the grandparents for a week at Christmas.. As of this year, they have all passed away, and We will have to do something special this year to make new and special memories to continue for our children.. We don’t know yet what that will be, but family first and foremost it will be..

Alicia corbin - November 17, 2015 - 5:03 pm

This is my Little girls first christmas!! She truly is my miracle, and can’t wait to show her old traditions, as well as start new ones with our little family!

Aimee - November 17, 2015 - 5:03 pm

My husband and I started our own Christmas Eve tradition with our three year old daughter on her first Christmas. Ellie the elf visits the entire holiday season between thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Every Christmas Eve Ellie brings a large surprise box for her big farewell until next year. Our box contains a Christmas movie, pjs for the entire family mom/dad/baby girl/and our dog, hot chocolate and popcorn. We enjoy a cozy evening by the fire watching our new movie anticipating Santas arrival the next morning. ❤️?❄️⛄️

Laurabeth Barnett - November 17, 2015 - 5:03 pm

This is so fun! This is our first holiday season after falling in love with Matilda Jane. We started a new tradition with our kiddos of letting them open a Christmas Eve Box with new PJs, hot chocolate, popcorn, slippers, & a Christmas movie to enjoy together on Christmas Eve. It’s been such a fun tradition & we look forward to doing it many more times ?.

Timothea Fermanich - November 17, 2015 - 5:03 pm

This is such a fabulous idea!! Can’t wait to see them all! My favorite holiday tradition is getting together with my dad’s side of the family and spending time with all of my cousins and their children. All of our kids are now very close, just like we were when we were little 🙂

Kathy Phelps - November 17, 2015 - 5:03 pm

We Always Bake Together, AND We Always Spend Christmas Eve Opening ONE Present AND watching A Christmas Movie Together.

Rachel Tran - November 17, 2015 - 5:03 pm

My favorite part of Christmas is making sure I get downstairs before the kids in the morning. The best thing ever is seeing the excitement and joy when they realize that Santa came while they were sleeping!!!

Brittany Bradley - November 17, 2015 - 5:03 pm

Ever since I was little, our family always made Eggs Benedict for breakfast after we finished opening gifts. My husband and I continue the tradition on Christmas morning with our four kids! I’ve always looked forward to it!

We have dirty Santa on Christmas Eve! But I enjoy the fun surprises we have on Christmas morning!

Melissa Simatovich - November 17, 2015 - 5:02 pm

My favorite tradition is trying to find ways to give back…as a child we always delivered Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets with our church…now with my children we try and do Random Acts of kindness…we also like to contact a local school and find a family that may slip through the cracks for qualify for some help but is so deserving and we “adopt” them for the holiday…it gives you such a feel good feeling! That’s what the holidays should be about!

Erica R - November 17, 2015 - 5:02 pm

We have a few holiday traditions, but a favorite of ours is, on Christmas Eve, we ride around town looking at all the Christmas lights, drinking hot chocolate and listening to Christmas music. This is after we attend an annual Christmas Eve party. So much fun and precious family time win my husband and 3 girls.

Kristen Guglielmo - November 17, 2015 - 5:01 pm

Holy freaking cow! So excited! We have a bunch of Christmas traditions… Stockings, Christmas cookie decorating, everyone in matching/coordinating pajamas, so many. I love Christmas so much I already decorated! I know, it’s early but I just love Christmas anything!!! Looking forward to adding plat to it!!

Ashley Wade - November 17, 2015 - 5:01 pm

LeAnna Hill - November 17, 2015 - 5:00 pm

We have several holiday traditions that I love but a couple stick out. We have breakfast with Santa every year. It’s a tradition. And our family has grown from a party of 8 to a party of 13 in 4 years! ? My other most favorite tradition is baking a birthday cake for Jesus! My oldest daughter is 4 this year and it’s the first year she has actually remembered and asked about it!! So this year will be even more fun!!

ERICA Wilson - November 17, 2015 - 4:59 pm

Our favorite holiday tradition is going to see santa clause each year with my parents with daughter. 🙂

Evelyn Reinsch - November 17, 2015 - 4:59 pm

We love midnight mass on Christmas Eve!

Chrystal Patrick - November 17, 2015 - 4:59 pm

Love Christmas time! I’m 35 and every year, never missed a year, I go to my parents on Christmas Eve and now my husband and 2 girls come too! We eat dinner and each open a special ornament from my parents. My mom reads a bible verse and we stay the night to wake up to Gifts, Family, & breakfast! Still makes my heart full of joy!

Lisa Valenti - November 17, 2015 - 4:58 pm

Christmas eve at my mom’s house where we traditionally have the Italian feast of the seven fishes. Then go to midnight mass and come back to Christmas presents under the tree. Love that our family still keeps this tradition, it reminds me of my grandparents house and having the feast there.

Nikki - November 17, 2015 - 4:58 pm

Adorable! Making gingerbread houses <3

Tara Henderson - November 17, 2015 - 4:57 pm

Spending Christmas Eve with my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins! I love family time and making memories! I also like keeping a tradition going that my kids can look back on with happy thoughts!

Suzanna - November 17, 2015 - 4:57 pm

My favorite holiday tradition is opening ONE gift on Christmas Eve. When I was growing up, my brother and I would spend every night before bed rearranging the presents while we tried to guess what everything was. We would plot out which one we would open as our one Christmas Eve gift. We had 2 older siblings who were far past caring, so once we would open our gift we’d have an immediate exchange of looks like, WE WERE RIGHT!!! it was something so simple, but it was ours.

Katie - November 17, 2015 - 4:55 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is reading The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve. My mom read it to us and now I read it to my daughter. I even have the same copy that was my dads when he was a child.

Elizabeth - November 17, 2015 - 4:54 pm

I spent a lot of my childhood in Germany. I have passed on the tradition of Saint Nicholas’s arrival on December 6th. My 8 y/o loves it and I hope my 1 y/o will too!

Darcie - November 17, 2015 - 4:54 pm

Opening advent calendar every morning

Sarah M - November 17, 2015 - 4:53 pm

First of all – I can’t WAIT for this event!

As for holiday traditions, one of the most special for me has been around since I was little. My maternal extended family is HUGE, and each year the kids and adults would all pack into one room and sing Christmas carols. We saved Jingle Bells for last because THAT was the song that cued Santa’s entrance. Santa was always played by my grandpa (not that I knew it at the time) and he arrived with a loud knock on the door. Since he passed away, my cousin now plays Santa each year, and my daughter has become part of the next generation of carol singers. Santa’s arrival still comes during Jingle Bells!

Polly Johnson - November 17, 2015 - 4:53 pm

Baking cookies with my grand children!! Love them so much!! 🙂

Lacey Poirier - November 17, 2015 - 4:53 pm

YIPEE!!!! And my favorite holiday tradition is baking Christmas cookies together! I remember doing that with my mom and grandma and now I get to bake them with my kids. Such a treasure!!
Can. Not. Wait. For these special loads!! It will be our first Platinum Christmas! 😉

Polly Johnson - November 17, 2015 - 4:52 pm

Gorgeous pieces!! Denise is smiling from above!! XOXO

Kayla Browning - November 17, 2015 - 4:51 pm

We go and serve breakfast at a homeless shelter before returning home to open Christmas presents. I always want my children to know they are very blessed and that Christmas is more about giving/serving/loving than receiving.

Nicole - November 17, 2015 - 4:50 pm

New Pjs on Xmas eve
