Holiday Ramblings

Is is possible Christmas is almost over? No way. We still have about a week till the holiday season comes to a clear, according to me anyways. I like to stretch it out as long as possible.  And sometimes that means you need to have some real boring days so the clock ticks a little bit slower.

We came up North for Christmas this year. It was the first time in about 10 years. It’s pretty cool for Joe and Gabe to see all their cousins and what not. So many of them. Gabe keeps saying, “we got lots of cousins”.  We went to my dad’s for Christmas Eve, then drove the snowy roads back to Good Hart.  The snow is so deep. We woke up at 4am to tell the kids, “No way are we getting up this early”.  We fell back asleep and started Christmas at 8. Much better. We headed out skiing in the afternoon and ended up at my mom’s for Christmas dinner. Quite the action packed day.

Can I just tell you, winter is so much colder when you are bald. Oh, my goodness.  Things are so funny.  I feel like such a dork now being bald and one eye completely absent of eyelashes (the other eye has a few hanging on still).  before it was just a given, I’m bald and moon faced cuz of the chemo. Now……I’ve got no excuse. I’m like “ya, I’m jsut goofy looking, no reason”. Bet you never thought of that?  Yup, as you’ve heard I got a clean bill of health last week. Awesome, huh? so now I have no excuses for this baldness and goofy googly eyes. In time I look 1/2 normal again.

I hope you all are having a great holiday. I am really hoping you get some time to play in the snow and just sit around being bored. Nothing better than being bored and grabbing a blanket, curling up on the couch and reading a good book. Oh, wait….yes, watching  a Lifetime or Hallmark movie. That is the epitome of boredom. And so perfect cuz the movies are always tear jerkers and kinda brainless so you don’t have to pay full attention to what is going on. Hmm…maybe that is what I’ll do tonite.

I know I am babbling but the house is super quiet. David and Joe went to get gas on the snowmobiles with my brother. Gabe is counting his Trashies (are your kids addicted to these?).  And Franklin is outside playing with my brother’s dog.

Before we left to come up North, I grabbed my old VHS tapes from 1991. I bought a video camera with my high school graduation money and video’d everything. Oh, I was such a dork.  I’m watching them out of the corner of my eye, and I was just pumping gas and say to the camera “gas is 1 point 2.”  Yes, this was the time I had no clue how to read gas prices. A year later I got a job at a gas station and quickly learned.

Arighty, David will be back soon so I had better get up and pretend I’ve been slaving over laundry the past hour. I tried to upload you some pics of the Mighty Acorn girls but my internet is too slow…..sorry.

Okay, I drove into Harbor Springs to get internet so I can upload you a few pics…now my problem is…. I can;t get them to move into better positions but hey, I got pics at least. And as they say, a blog post needs pics!!

So happy to hear you are doing better. May The Lord bless you and your family this year. I pray you experience blessings of good health for you a d all your family. I have a brother whose 36 and has Cystic Fibrosis and is Diabetic. My mom and step dad are caregivers for my brother. My step dad who I call dad still works. My mom had to retire last year at Christmas because my brother had a rough winter season. Pray is our saving grace. I remind myself daily to be thankful each day for what we have but not to ask God for the blessings we wish to receive. Anyways this season has been better. I have become close to my trunk keeper who ironically goes to the same church too. Blessings to you and I ask for a year full of health for both our families!
