Thank you so much for being apart of this, you have no idea how much this means to us at Matilda Jane, let alone Sara’s family. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
ALSO! Here is a link where you can learn more information on how to donate to this family.
I don’t even know how to begin this post. I guess I’ll begin with life can certainly be unpredictable.
Last Thursday one of my dear friends, one of our Trunk Keepers, Sara Spitler’s daughter and two young nieces were in a car accident. Her brother’s girlfriend, Katie M. Atkins, was also present in the accident, but wasn’t able to make it. Audrey, Sara’s daughter, was luckily able to walk away from the car accident, while her two nieces Neilah and Jaidyn were flown to separate hospitals. Jaidyn was released from Riley Hospital yesterday and is on the road to recovery, but Neilah is still hospitalized in Chicago with extensive global brain damage. Neilah is showing signs of improvement as of today and we have high hopes of seeing this darling girl’s smile soon. We are all hoping for a birthday miracle, Neilah turns 8 years old this Saturday (tomorrow!).
I can’t even begin to express my feelings for this terrible event. Not only is Sara one of my good friends, but she’s one of the most amazing woman I’ve ever met. So strong, so confident, and so so genuine. I’ve learned and grown from this woman, whether she was teaching me a lesson while driving to work (yes she used to pick me up everyday!) or giving me my first job, and then getting me my job at MJC. She’s been a crucial part of me growing up, and has been a constant beacon of guidance and support for me over the past 7 years. I’ve said countless times that I want to grow up and be like Sara, and to this day I still do.
Audrey, Neilah, and Jaidyn are the kind of cousins that I never had. They are absolute best friends. Being around them makes you feel…youthful and bright. When I would babysit them, I would think about how lucky they would feel one day to have each other. To have that closeness, an almost sister like bond; it’s priceless. Priceless and beautiful.
For the love of all the sisters, angels, lovers, cousins, and mothers we need to do something for this family. We need to become stronger for them. We need to send prayers, thoughts, wishes, and hope to them. We need to share the love, and spread it even further because Sara is a part of our family.
Here it is, the “Charity Dress” we’ve been holding our breath, just waiting to show you it. We’ve had them in boxes in our warehouse for nearly a year now, but haven’t had the right moment to share them. We knew all along it would be for a good cause, but we had no idea it would be for a member of our own MJC family.
The Neilah dress will be sold for $48 on Platinum with $25 of the proceeds going to Sara and her family.
This adorable mouse pad featuring a little cutie wearing the Fall Character Counts collection will also be added to Platinum for $5 with all proceeds going to Sara and her family.
Please keep these girls, this family, close to your heart. Thank you.
