Impressions

It’s the eve of launching our second release this season, Impressions, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. Not to mention, I have these gorgeous photos to share with you, courteous of Megan Fogel. (Trust me, there’s a blog post about this chick coming soon!)

It’s funny. I almost feel like Impressions should have been the first release. It has all the colors, patterns, and pieces Denise and I designed first. Due to how crazy production was this fall (remember me calling Kayla and Jeff heroes earlier this year?) we had to rearrange Paint By Numbers on more than a few different occasions. Finally you’re going to see the bigger, fuller picture of what Paint By Number is supposed to be!

Sorry, I’m just so happy every time we get to share another set of designs with you. There’s such a thrill in thinking about all our TK’s across the country hosting shows and sharing all the new stuff with you. Each release is a such a nerve wracking rush for me. And I’m looking forward to hearing what your favorite pieces are… This will help me finish up our Fall 2014 Collection this week! You guys can help me decide which pieces to design again.

Actually, if you guys have any favorites from past seasons in general, I would loooove to hear them!

And how about, in honor of the launch of Impressions in the morning, I choose a few random comments for my favorite piece from the 2nd Release?

All you need to do is post your name and YOU all-time favorite piece of Matilda Jane!

Last but CERTAINLY not least. We came across a lovely, thoughtful post today that started with MJC, but ended with a much bigger message. You won’t regret reading this warm straight-from-the-heart blog entry while you’re waiting for the 2nd release photos to go up! : )

LOVE,

SAM

I’m going with a momma piece 🙂 The Stillwater!! love it & I’m enjoying some new pieces from Paint By Numbers, too!
Daughters Favorite is a simple…Miss Jones. She LOVES the soft fabric.

staceys - September 4, 2013 - 9:07 pm

still brand new to the brand, but I was drawn in by how cute the Dagney top is, so I will say DAGNEY! I had never seen a knot top before and now I’m hooked on them!

Jessica T - September 4, 2013 - 4:40 pm

My absolute, all time favorite are the Wendy dresses. I loved Hammond Bay and the field trip jumping ones, and I think we’ve had another, but I’ve forgotten. I never ever tire of them and this season’s is darling too!

Holly V - September 4, 2013 - 4:30 pm

Oh man…how do you pick 1 flower out of a huge beautiful garden…?? lol
If I had to I would say…HB Summertime tank dress…love that one!

I am absolutely in LOVE LOVE LOVE with the new Butternut tank dress…it’s a close 2nd 😉

Courtney S - September 4, 2013 - 4:20 pm

I’ve gotta give some love to the Sandy Pants!! The perfect go to pants that are crazy comfy but still super cute. Thanks for all the incredibly unique pieces but also the beautiful basics.

Jennifer P - September 4, 2013 - 3:12 pm

The Oh Opal top is my most favorite. I have an etheral photo of my daughter at age 2.5 in it that takes my breath away every time I see it. It is perfection, and I am so happy to see it back so I can get it in a bigger size!

Dawnie C. - September 4, 2013 - 2:27 pm

My favorite piece has to be my first piece ever – the Golden Girl Ellie. Got me and my lil’ gal hooked! She has been wearing MJ since she was 9 months old:)

Rachel K. Holly's Mama - September 4, 2013 - 12:52 pm

Ok, I had to think about this and it was difficult to narrow it down to just one piece in the 5 years I have been buying Matilda Jane. My favorite piece is the Lollipop Skirt because it goes with so many different tops and my daughter loves to twirl in it. I love the way she smiles when she wears it and her face glows! We love the colors in it.

Meghan - September 4, 2013 - 11:37 am

My favorite piece from this release is the monika dress. so precious and comfy at the same time.

Jeanne - September 4, 2013 - 10:21 am

So many favorites-it’s hard to choose. I have very happy memories of my girl in the Buttercup dress. It reminds me of fall and back to school days. Simply adorable with the poppy cardigan and her uggs.

Gran - September 4, 2013 - 10:05 am

The knot dress style will always be the one that most reminds me of Matilda Jane. I would have loved seeing these at the original art fairs. They are so easy to wear year round and to wear first as a dress and then as a top. These paint by number pieces are such bright and cheery pieces that they will grow to be favorites. I also really enjoyed the gypsy blue and hammond bay pieces…….well, actually there are too many favorites to even list. Thanks for another beautiful release.

Allison S - September 4, 2013 - 8:19 am

Our first and favorite pc of all time was the katie lou tank dress, love that sweet little dress!

Rebekah A - September 4, 2013 - 8:18 am

I can’t decide between the Maggie Stew or the Red Headed Pearl. Those are so much our favorites that we hunt them down in the next size after we grow out of it. My daughter has worn it in 3 sizes now. I am certain my neighbors are wondering how I can make it grow with my daughter, LOL!

Leslie T - September 4, 2013 - 7:45 am

One of my all time favorites was the Bettie dress from the Westside collection!

Lqqkme2 - September 4, 2013 - 7:40 am

Definitely the Hammond Bay Skye Knot Top!!
So versatile, girly, and a whole lot of cuteness for little ones to tween. Maybe start making the tween “knots” with buttons instead if tying knots for an older girl look/likability. SKYE KNOT, SKYE KNOT….. 🙂

Leah - September 4, 2013 - 2:31 am

I love a ton, but the Wisteria hands down!!! Gorgeous and so wonderful for younger and older kids!

Cap N - September 4, 2013 - 12:46 am

Platinum smoothie dress is so adorable. My daughter loves being a princess in her MJ.

Debra Stallings - September 3, 2013 - 7:36 pm

Several pieces I love did not go to a 14 for my daughter however I have three granddaughters that I buy for also. Love the baroque rose Benny’s! They are so sweet. Mediterranean ruffles and stippling tee, and my daughter loves the scribble top. So cute.also the rose gold Jane dress would have been perfect if it came up to 14. That was a perfect dress for tween. I really love this line. One of the best since Gypsy Blue for fall.
You all do such a wonderful job and I pray daily for Denise.
Keep up the good work Sam!
Hugs
Deb

Jene price - September 3, 2013 - 6:23 pm

Delancey Knot Dress…my daughter loves this one. When I put it on her she tells me she’s a princess, holds out the apron and twirls around, sweet memories!

Jen Ligon - September 3, 2013 - 5:46 pm

I think our all time favorite piece has to be…Butterfly House ballet dress. Both of my girls have this dress and believe me when I say they are wearing these dresses o u t! 🙂

Barbara Fisher - September 3, 2013 - 4:59 pm

I really love the new Platinum Daisy Dog. It’s adorable of course, but love the fact that it is called Daisy (my dog’s name, though she is a puggle). I felt with a beautiful dress like that…and named 🙂 after my Daisy Dog, I had to get it!

Shana Hice - September 3, 2013 - 4:57 pm

My favorite MJ piece of all time for myself is the Xanadu dress. For my girls, I would say their Crew Dresses! Those dresses are super adorable with the sandbucket lace socks and the shorties! That was our outfit for the first day of Kindergarten!!!

Monika M. - September 3, 2013 - 4:57 pm

Oh boy, one favorite only? I have so many!! I think the Gypsy Blue Chrissy is high on my scale… if you asked Grace is would be the Encore at the Ballet AF dress from like 2009. She’s outgrown it so long ago and STILL talks about it, lol! And Erina would probably go for the Hammond Bay Cher!

Kari Bennett - September 3, 2013 - 4:33 pm

Oh Opal LOVE IT!

Tracy Dupaquier - September 3, 2013 - 3:28 pm

HI Sam, I just absolutely love from the bottom of my hear the

OH OPAL!! Ruffles and Halter original set.

The set exudes elegance and simpleness at the same time.

It’s the one thing that has set my heart soaring for this release.

I’m so excited I get to share the love of MJ with my daughter once again, who is growing up ever so quickly – But alas, she has said
“YES!” to the set..

SO, there ya go. Of course, I can’t pick my momma all time faves… cause there are sooo many. But, if I had to choose JUST ONE, well, I couldn’t — cause I’d probably pick my whole closet.

Tracy 🙂

Kari Lazenby - September 3, 2013 - 3:25 pm

Baroque Rose Bennys is my fave piece!!

Rachel Crawley - September 3, 2013 - 3:07 pm

Silly Ellie worn as a skirt <3 we have had it in every size for all our girls and will continue to size up as we grow! Sad to say that one day we will have to pack it away in our Life Chest <3 but so many stories to live and tell from one little piece <3 Thank you MJC!

Teresa Beeler - September 3, 2013 - 2:48 pm

Gypsy Blue Pink PR Ruffles!

Renee Gorman - September 3, 2013 - 2:45 pm

So many to choose from but my favorite piece of MJC so far has to be the City Limits knot dress I bought at 2013 art fair. It has special meaning, my daughter loves it and it’s gorgeous!

Kathy Stockdale - September 3, 2013 - 2:44 pm

I am a day late bc I wanted to see the new release just in case I had to change my mind…my all time fav piece has to be all the art fair/platinum tank dresses. Namely ghastlies tank dress….

Erin Nay - September 3, 2013 - 2:37 pm

My all time favorite is the Pepper Knot from Hammond Bay. I loved this entire line but we have so many wonderful family memories with my daughter in this particular dress- trip to Hawaii, visit with Grandparents in Boston, etc. LOVE the new release!

Jennifer Valsted - September 3, 2013 - 2:20 pm

Just thought of another one of our all-time fave MJ pieces: the Tanna Linen!! Would LOVE if MJ would come out with this wonderful piece again, but this time make it all the way up to size 14. Our size 8 is getting so short it won’t last much longer 🙁

Morgan Muhly - September 3, 2013 - 2:14 pm

I am obsessed with the little red school dress 🙂

Adrienne - September 3, 2013 - 1:50 pm

Butterfly pants! Would love them in every color.
Also, the weekender skirt–it is so nice to have the
wonderful fabrics on the grown up clothes. My MJ
makes me so happy! Feel so lucky to have found you
all and thanks so much for the adult clothes.

Adrienne - September 3, 2013 - 1:47 pm

I love the butterfly pants–so comfortable and cool. I’d buy them in color after color! I also love my weekender skirt. My MJ clothes make me so happy!

Julie79 - September 3, 2013 - 1:45 pm

Jewel tones are my favorite!! But I would love to see more “fall” colors in the 2014 fall release. Greens, golds, orange/rust. Like the 09 Back to school peasant and green velour ruffles! Also, would love more dresses like the Circle Francine. I DO love the tops from this line and for older girls who don’t want to wear leggings or ruffles any more, they look great with jeans!

Danielle Jenks - September 3, 2013 - 1:44 pm

My absolute favorite is the Dragonfly Satine dress.

Pamela M. - September 3, 2013 - 1:09 pm

Hi Sam – Loved the fabrics in release two today! I have so many favorites, but I have to say that one of my all time favorites was the Sunshine Cardigan (Yellow Fleece with adorable wooden buttons) that I think it was from the Westside collection….many moons ago. Have a great day!

Love the Bowie on my little one as a dress! Would love to see more like it.

Melissa S. - September 3, 2013 - 12:33 pm

I was so EXCITED to see another bubble top this release. The Gypsy Blue long sleeve bubble top was our first piece-and is still my all-time favorite. My second choice would have to be the Hammond Bay Skye Knot Top. You really hit a home run with that one!

Jayme - September 3, 2013 - 12:22 pm

My all time favorite piece is the Chrissy dress from Gypsy Blue. And that was my all time favorite line, just LOVED it 🙂

Stacy Certain - September 3, 2013 - 12:22 pm

Oh my goodness.. I am in love with all the Finn skirts..my favorite is the parfait Finn and I am hoping a new one from paint by numbers is on its way! The Finn skirts are so transitional to wear at home or work! love them!!

Erica S - September 3, 2013 - 11:10 am

My all-time favorite adult outfit is the Xanadu dress with the Finn pants. The fabric you chose for those pieces is so soft and luxurious and I absolutely love the design. My favorite pieces from the new release are the Paintbrush Finns and the Katydid Neilah. Everything is gorgeous! I adore every knot dress that I see, but my all-time favorite for my little girl is the Peppermint dress. It is so soft…and my little girl LOVES soft! It’s extremely versatile – she can go from playing in the barn to visiting the White House and it’s perfect at both places and everywhere in between. It would make a perfect “Sisterhood of the Travelling Dress” dress. It’s our “go-to” piece for just about any occasion. It photographs so well, too! Every piece you ladies create is a stunning work of art. Congrats on your new release!

Nancy S - September 3, 2013 - 11:09 am

My ALL time fave is the Emelia dress – so soft, comfy and versatile. We have it in EVERY color for both of my girls! It is their go to dress always.

Heather G. - September 3, 2013 - 11:02 am

I love the Ellie & Violet from the Hammond Bay Collection. We have owned this in every size! All 3 of my girls (4,9 and 14)have this top and love it!! It looks so cute with so many bottoms!! LOVE!

Abby P - September 3, 2013 - 11:01 am

A very favorite was one of our first MJC seasons when my daughter was just 2. The hotline Fiona Alice Peasant (I think that’s the name?) and opal ruffles. Just sweet perfection. We lovingly passed it down to my niece, and a few weeks ago when she jumped out of the car for a visit wearing it, it was so precious I thought I would cry. My daughter has moved on up to the “kid Finns” now, but I love that on occasion she can still rock a knot dress at 6 just as we’ll as when she was 2. One of the best parts of MJC…and why we are still a fan after 5 years 🙂

Morgan D - September 3, 2013 - 11:00 am

My all-time favorite piece is the Spearmint dress!

Kelly Ruth - September 3, 2013 - 10:56 am

My favorite piece is the Buttercup Maggie. It was the first piece I ever bought! I have been hooked ever since!

Prencie - September 3, 2013 - 10:27 am

Picking just one fave is really really hard to do! I must say that my recent fave (or I should say my daughters fave & mine) is the SEA SALT Raven!! SO many things go with it and she LOVES the twirl factor! <3

Emily V - September 3, 2013 - 10:25 am

My husband’s favorite is the Anastasiya (sorry I spelled it wrong earlier!) mine is the Lucky Stars Knot dress or the Trellis dress. The Hit the Deck Peasant is my favorite top! I’m in love. American Spoon Cardigan. My 5 year old’s favorite is the Apple Pie Lap dress (color & twirl factor). And I can’t wait to learn my one year old’s favorites. She looks so cute in everything! The Veranda is especially cute!

Sarah (SophieBugsMom) - September 3, 2013 - 10:20 am

My all time favorite piece of MJ ever… is the denim ruffles. I can’t recall their name. I wish I would have bought one of each size!!!

Andi K. - September 3, 2013 - 10:13 am

you gals totally read my mind! my (and my 2 gals) favorites are already here in the new release! yahoo! the chambray ruffles and the opals with matching ellie (for my ella). thank you for revisiting the matilda jane of old (yes, my girls have literally grown up with you)…these few pieces were sadly missed and will be cherished all over again (with a novel twist, of course). hugs!

Loving all the mama pieces especially the boucle sweater and then the lap that matches Central Park!

Clare M - September 3, 2013 - 9:49 am

Congrats on another fantastic release, Sam (& the rest of the team) <3!!! My all-time favorite MJ piece has to be the truly "oldie-but-goodie" Navy Big Ruffles from Hammond Bay that I have worn at least once a week every week ever since their release 3 – 4 years ago (BTW, Sam, I think you modeled these when they were first released?). I just love the way they fit my body (especially around the waist ;-)), & the buttery-soft fabric – wouldn't know what I would do without them! But then I love, love, looove all the MJ-designed prints, so – I think from PBN, I am going to give the Twinkle Lace Big Ruffles (both my daughter & I love that so many pieces come in size 14 now) a try :-)!!

Jennifer G - September 3, 2013 - 9:49 am

MY little LOVED the Rhapsody tunic and leggings. She called it her Santa dress and wore it all the time last winter, long after the holidays were over. I’m hoping for something just as great this holiday, it’s such a great time and the perfect outfit for the season.

Abby - September 3, 2013 - 9:08 am

My faves are the lindy ruffles, tanna linen dress and those sweet little vintage ruffle socks. Impressions is beautiful and full of great colors – well done!

Kelsey Bendixen - September 3, 2013 - 8:37 am

We have had a lot of favorites throughout the years! But my heart will always have a special place for the gypsy blue Dottie lap. Oh how I wish I had one to fit both of my girls right now!!

Donna Hagen - September 3, 2013 - 8:21 am

One of my favourite styles: our first MJ piece ever, the Dottie Lap Dress from Gypsy Blue.

We love the lap dresses. One of our favorite was the 1st brown lap. Of course, we love it all.

Kristin C. - September 3, 2013 - 7:13 am

Of course, I’m addicted to everything MJC, but I love the Pier Dress on my little girl. She has worn it for everything from her first day of preschool to a playdate with friends. Keep up the fabulous work! 🙂

Elizabeth - September 3, 2013 - 6:34 am

Westside Knot—-love, love LOVE that dress

Christina - September 3, 2013 - 6:25 am

I’ve been longing to get my hands on a Kanga Stew for ages – there’s something about it that really speaks to me! That said, as much of a fan as I am of pattern-mixing, I’ve got to say the Bristol Peasant Dress from You+Me is one of MJC’s most underrated pieces! I love the fit and the bold crimson trim. My little darling would be SO excited to find herself another one!

Michelle clouse - September 3, 2013 - 6:10 am

My favorite Matilda Jane is the Gypsy Blue Museum Knot Dress. I can still see my daughter when she was much younger wearing this with her pigtails, striped tights and boots.
Michelle Clouse

Nicole H - September 3, 2013 - 5:36 am

So hard… My favorite changes weekly. I really love Kanga Stew right now. My daughters all time favorite is Field Trip Wendy. It was her first piece of MJ and always her first choice.

Deanna - September 3, 2013 - 5:12 am

Very heard to choose our all time favorite, but since we’ve sized up on this a couple of times, it must be the Summertime Dress!

Jamie Stuart - September 3, 2013 - 4:43 am

My favorite pieces, gosh so hard to choose because we love it all, is the peasant tops with the tie around the waist. They are so feminine, sweet and just girly. That’s what I love about them.

Wendy Schmidt - September 3, 2013 - 3:27 am

the Gypsy Blue Chrissy…absolute perfection!

Debbie Schmidt - September 3, 2013 - 3:04 am

Hands down I still love vivian roundabout elly. We celebrated my twins’ 5th birthday yesterday and it was the perfect piece with the sweetness shorties. 🙂

Shannon - September 3, 2013 - 2:42 am

It is SO hard to pick just one favorite. The Kanga Stew, Vintage Ballerina, the very first Hammond Bay Raven, gosh actually that whole line of Hammond Bay and the Gypsy Blue line. I would say that my very favorite was one of my daughter’s first dresses from Matilda Jane, the Eva Rose knot. It is just the perfect blend of sweet and spunky to me. I loved it so much I bought it in THREE sizes! Thanks for the chance this is so nice of you <3

Alicia Greene - September 3, 2013 - 2:30 am

All time favorite is Luna. ( we are newbies) Love MJ and I’m going to be a Jane soon!!”

My favorite piece for my daughter is the Blue Victorian stix knot dress from an art fair 4-5 years ago. My favorite piece for myself is the Holly Hoody. Love that! I had it on today 🙂

Erin M. - September 3, 2013 - 2:10 am

My favorite piece of MJ changes day to day. At this precise moment, it is the Cupcake Lap. From the soft knit to the precious apron, everything about it is perfection.

Ask me tomorrow…who knows what I’ll say!

Emily - September 3, 2013 - 2:01 am

We love the Emilia dresses… They are so soft and lovely!

Emily V - September 3, 2013 - 2:00 am

My husband’s favorite dress is the Anastasia dress because he lived in Russia for two years during college, and he loves the Matroshka dolls! In fact we have two dresses and every similar piece so that my two girls can “coordinate” as my 5 year old likes to say. 🙂

Linda Patterson - September 3, 2013 - 1:53 am

My absolute favorite piece is the Shabby top from Serendipity. I loved every color and style from that line.. But that top somehow is perfection. It shows off my little cotton top’s sweet completion and transitions so easy from spring to fall. We are on our third size! I will have to keep sizing up until she leaves for college! Thank you for my favorite top!!!

becky dafoe - September 3, 2013 - 1:50 am

So hard to pick but my daughter LOVES her strawberry knot dress and the Symons general store dress!!!

Angie - September 3, 2013 - 1:43 am

Gosh it’s so so hard to narrow it down to just one piece, because I truly love so may pieces. So many for me are not just clothes but a memory:) but if I had to pick one piece I’d pick the green pearl. So classic, soft, and sweet. I adore pearls and laps in simple fabrics. Precious.

Anne - September 3, 2013 - 1:27 am

Trellis belyst! Can’t wait for my little one to fit in ours. Also love the American Spoon Cardigan and lifesaver shorties. Have a thing with polka dots!

Michelle Lynch - September 3, 2013 - 1:25 am

Wow that’s a toughy, they are all so beautiful but it’s the memories attached to the clothing so for me it has to be the Felina knot dress! So many beautiful, fun and silly memories we made in those dresses:) Forever they will be with us the memories and the dresses:)

Sarah Bachert - September 3, 2013 - 1:23 am

Hands down, the London Lap dress!!! One of the first pieces of MJC I ever bought, and it’s my daughter’s favorite as well! She always wants to wear her “taxi” dress. We are going to try and squeeze one more fall out of it-which will be year 4!!!

Jessica Gray - September 3, 2013 - 1:17 am

My 4 year olds favorite is the apple pie lap dress (it’s light pink and comfy!) and a fave of mine is the adorable veranda dress from good hart. Cannot wait to see impressions!!

jennifer Candy Cain - September 3, 2013 - 1:16 am

Cathi Smeader - September 3, 2013 - 1:05 am

My all time favorite is Butterfly House Ballet Dress!

Ashley Harris - September 3, 2013 - 12:52 am

My favorite is the Chelsea from House of Clouds! We’ve had it in size 18m-4 and I will continue to search for the next size till I can’t squeeze her into it. Very classy and fab colors! Favorite LINE ever.

Jody - September 3, 2013 - 12:50 am

My matilda Jane obsession started with the Adriana wrap dress, it was the first item I had to have three of for my triplets….and i have loved every wrap dress since!

Tracey - September 3, 2013 - 12:48 am

Can’t wait for tomorrows beauties!!

Fav piece, hands down is the Homegrown Damsel Blue Lap Dress. Be still my heart. I still remember opening the package and trying it on my then almost 1.5 year old. She was that perfect combination of sweetness and light. And the dress…something special, magical and unique. That dress is a key part of our family history, because it was worn on a big day. And now that kiddo is nearly 7 & we are still around, seeking out the magic in every release and still making beautiful memories.

Much love!

Melanie H. - September 3, 2013 - 12:43 am

Oh goodness, where to start…there are probably half a dozen pieces that when my girls wear them, I say they are my *favorite* dress! Hmmm, even though we love all of the ruffles pants, skirts & more, I do think that all of my favorites are dresses…curious! So here they are, in no particular order!
The original Homegrown Damsel in a Dress (love that red apron!)
The Lulu Dress (love that style & the green fabric is amazing!)
The Maryanne Lap Dress (who doesn’t smile at that cherry lemon print!)
The Green Pearl Dress (Two words::Matches.everything!!)
Oh, it’s not a dress, but I have to add the Lucy Bubble, because it is so cute & came out just in time for my baby girl Lucy’s first birthday!
It is fun to add new favorites each season!!

Amy McKay - September 3, 2013 - 12:43 am

Our most treasured pieces are the first ones we ever purchased… Museum knot and sabines for my oldest daughter and the Sailor top and dutches ruffles for my youngest. Will keep them forever to remember their childhood and hopefully one day we can pass them down to their daughter’s:)

Sue G. - September 3, 2013 - 12:39 am

Here’s a little ditty for you:
You FT Wayne cuties put style in everything new,
but my first IMPRESSION was the Kanga Stew.

Purchased some time ago for my grand daughter BEFORE she was born. It reminds me of the dresses MY grandmother sewed for me in 1950’s. A timeless, lovely little favorite.

Big Hugs~ Grandma Sue

Amy N - September 3, 2013 - 12:39 am

How do you just pick one favorite??? All of our pieces are our favorites! 🙂 I will have to give special mention to a piece I hold dear to my heart the HB Bubble! My girlie is growing up so fast (her 2nd birthday is next week!!!!!) but this piece makes her look like a baby again and that melts my heart.

Courtney Voss - September 3, 2013 - 12:37 am

Oh, I have a Fav from each of my girls. For Delanie, I loved her in the Bubblegum dress. Such a dainty, simple fabric, but the design of it was so darling! And for Kennedy, the sugar and spice lap. Something about that dress on her was magic! She loved the pockets to put her treasures in, and the soft feel made her want to sleep in it 😉

Carly Klaus - September 3, 2013 - 12:35 am

My Favorite has to be the Lindy’s<3 …….. I have owned in multiple sizes for my RoRo

Christy Lawson - September 3, 2013 - 12:33 am

WOW – so hard to pick our favorite- would have to say the one I can’t get my daughter to take off most of the time, the Chicken Dress!!! She loves her “Meow” 🙂

Brittney Bell - September 3, 2013 - 12:29 am

My all-time favorite piece …..wait, I can only pick one? Hmm hmm… It is going to sound crazy because of its simplicity, but the science lab tee is the single most worn piece of MJC we own. With the release of paint by numbers it is working even more!!! The way it works with so many gorgeous line dresses and bottoms to PLATINUM and everything in between <3

Michelle S - September 3, 2013 - 12:27 am

Our favorite piece is Red School House Dress! 🙂 Favorite mama piece is Park Day dress!

Hands down, the Hammond Bay Sunny dress (with Sprites)! It’s the one piece I can’t get rid of, even though my daughter has long outgrown it!

Eden Capps - September 3, 2013 - 12:10 am

Eden Capps- Bowie!! Absolute favorite. So many leggings and shorties match and looks good with all complexions. Amazing in photographs!

jen - September 3, 2013 - 12:07 am

Bring a Shabby back!!! <3

Quincy B - September 3, 2013 - 12:05 am

So hard to choose favorites…everything is so awesome but I’ll try to narrow it down…bubblegum dress and mudpies, polly peasant and epiphany ruffles, blue star elaina with either the matching leggings or ziggy leggings, vigilante and goldenrods, In the Navy tank and Anchors Away straightees, and probably my first love is the Vivian roundabout and Cecilia shorties or Jillian ruffles. My daughter is 8 and has quite the opinion these days, so besides sharing my faves above her absolute faves are the soda pops with the tuney (or the rosebud tee with the Beverly argyle socks and black converse, which Denise commented as being “such a Sam outfit”), her grey chevron outfit, the London Lap dress and the Travelling Holly/Riley set. Very excited to see that cream, ruffled halter in tomorrow’s release! Can’t wait!

Annette - September 2, 2013 - 11:59 pm

My all time favorite is from way back in the day. From Hotline, the pink dot bubble. And my daughter wants to tell you the best dress anyone ever made is her Pippi dress (Hotline Maggie).

Bridgette myrick - September 2, 2013 - 11:56 pm

Currently, since we are still definitely building our collection, my favorite piece is probably the Lilac Lush 🙂 or maybe the Vivian. 🙂

Kristi T - September 2, 2013 - 11:52 pm

Jessica Oliver - September 2, 2013 - 11:51 pm

I love chasing daisy with royal ruffles:)

Denise T - September 2, 2013 - 11:49 pm

Staci - September 2, 2013 - 11:48 pm

My favorite piece would have to be the Lindey ruffles from Hammond Bay. I bought an 18m pair for my daughter to grow into when she was just a year old and boy has she grown into them. She is now 4 and a half and still sports them. They are as adorable now as knee length knickers as the were as full length pants. I am pretty sure we have worn them with each collection since Hammond Bay. Thanks for making such a versitle piece! We ❤ MJC!

Eva Zelinsky - September 2, 2013 - 11:46 pm

Joy bubble from HOC-My daughter’s first ever piece of Matilda Jane 🙂

Courtney Puhl - September 2, 2013 - 11:17 pm

So…it’s so hard to pick an all time favorite MJC piece. I’d have to say Field Trip holds a special place in my heart. those patterns will forever remind me of th sweet toddler years of my sweet daughter.

I remember the first piece I bought from a regular line was the Jesse skirt… Frilly and full and twirly…. I loved it.

But more than that, what I loved was this place. MJC. Where little girls dressed like little girls and their moms LOVED very minute of it.

I still remember the moment I realized the MJC was for me. Denise posted a line from Trian’s “Soul Sister” on FB and everyone responded in line with the verse that came next. I remember taking this is more than a clothing company. These women are connected, I was hooked. MJC, I knew I loved you then. I love you now. More than ever.

xoxo. Courtney

Missy J. - September 2, 2013 - 11:14 pm

Can’t wait to see what impressions has to offer! It is very hard to pick a favorite MJ piece. I will say that every time I put my Gianna in the bubblegum dress I catch myself just staring at her. That dress is so innocent and delicate and just makes my heart swell with the desire to capture her just as she is in that very moment. Not sure how that dress got a hold on me but I so love it. So bubblegum wins as my favorite. MIssy Jungling

Misty Thompson - September 2, 2013 - 11:02 pm

It’s hard to choose a fave. I guess I would have to pick the homegrown DAMSEL IN A DRESS! My baby girl was just a tiny thing when we first had it and everyone just loved it. I’ve been trying to find one in a size 8 for awhile now (and even won one on ebay, but then the seller backed out.) Keep on with those simple designs (yet fun with the patterned apron.)

My daughters all time favorite MJ is the cotton candy tutu skirt and mine is the vineyards!

bella claire - September 2, 2013 - 10:43 pm

I would love to see the halter style from Home Grown collection make a comeback (Vintage Sasha, Jane Halter). I have to admit I am just a litle obsessed with my sweet little one’s super soft shoulders/back. I love to sneak in a kiss or two when she is sitting on my lap. This style top makes it so easy to do that 🙂

Kim T - September 2, 2013 - 10:43 pm

Hmmm tough one – I’m going with the Berry Emelia, my daughter wore it again today and I adore it. But the Forget Me Knot also has a special place in my heart!

JoAnne De La Roche - September 2, 2013 - 10:42 pm

My favorite piece was an art fair knot…first one I ever got when my daughter was 2. It had a butterfly fabric with lime greens and bright pinks…she wore it forever. She’s 7 now and seems to be outgrowing some of the MJC styles but we did get the Central Park Cardigan, though, and love it.

Thanks for sharing that blog. As a mom of a 4 year old daughter, I so get it. 🙂 My favorite MJ piece was the first one my daughter wore – The green and white striped damsel in distress with a red apron. She wore it when she was a baby, and it started us on this crazy MJ adventure.

Paige Liggett - September 2, 2013 - 10:39 pm

Paige Liggett…my all time favorite MJ piece is the Dottie dress from the Gypsy Blue collection. My daughter has long outgrown it, but its just one of those dresses that I will keep forever. It was everything a dress should be for a sweet little girl 🙂

Stacey C - September 2, 2013 - 10:37 pm

(I commented earlier, but not sure it went through).
My favorite piece from Matilda Jane has to be Say it Sweetly. Every time my little one puts it on (which is as soon as it comes out of the wash), I can’t help thinking this dress was made for her. From the perfect fit, to the precious shade of pink, even to the special detail of the ruffle trim. And the fact that this dress has a misspelled word makes it even more perfect in its’ imperfection. The proceeds went to Habitat for Humanity? Now that’s a Good Hart.

Felicia Harrison - September 2, 2013 - 10:37 pm

Our favorite MJC piece is the Sea salt skirt 🙂

Emily M. - September 2, 2013 - 10:37 pm

Jill L. - September 2, 2013 - 10:36 pm

It’s seriously impossible for my to pick ONE favorite piece – you gotta be kidding me, Sam! 🙂 BUT, a favorite on both of my girls and on that is always a highly sought after piece in resell land is the dottie dress from Gypsy Blue. That whole line with that beautiful light blue and rose ditsy floral and the demure polka dots – just love it! I’d definitely love a dottie style dress again. I also really like peasant tops in calico prints and would like these to go at least to size 10, please. 😉

We just had our family pictures done and our18-month old wore the Bowie with sand bucket socks…the pictures are stunning! I thought I liked the Bowie before our pictures…then I saw them in our photos and my “like” for Bowie turned into a “love!” It can be dressed up or down and is just beautiful! Stacey C. - September 2, 2013 - 10:10 pm

I have to say my favorite piece from Good Hart was Say it Sweetly. Everytime my little one puts it on (which is every time it comes out of the wash), I think it just looks so precious on her. The fit is darling, the pink is a perfect shade of precious, and the ruffle adds that touch of special. And the fact that one little word is spelled wrong? I think that makes it even more fabulous. The proceeds went to habitat? Now that’s a Good Hart. Way to go Matilda Jane!

Jennifer Valsted - September 2, 2013 - 10:07 pm

Can’t wait to see all the new pieces!!! I have a tween daughter and at this age simple patterns are best…nothing too quirky, with too many patterns mixed together or with animals at this age. Some of our all-time fave styles are the sara style tops with older-girl fabrics, simple straightees, oh opal style top and cropped pants, finn style pants. She still loves her Truffle Tank dress from You & Me, skirts like the sea salt and cotton candy. Would love to see another dress like Mr. Franklin, but continued up into higher tween sizes like 10, 12 and 14. And more plain colored ruffle leggings like the Everyday leggings and Blue Jay leggings. And would love to see another Belle of the Ball style top as that is my daughter’s all-time fave…but it needs to go up into 10, 12 and 14!!!!

Amy - September 2, 2013 - 10:07 pm

I love it all, and can’t wait to see the beautiful new pieces! My all-time favorite piece was the Museum Knot Dress. It was the first piece that I bought from the first trunk show I hosted.

Carrie D. - September 2, 2013 - 10:07 pm

So excited for the new release tomorrow, and for our first day of school! Both of my girls are wearing tiered lap dresses – Apple Pie and American Beauty. We love that style because it is super twirly. The twirl factor is a key component to every MJ dress we buy – the bigger the twirl, the better! 🙂

Darlene burchfield - September 2, 2013 - 10:06 pm

I have lots of favorites! Favorite line is pretty close between Gypsy Blue and Hammond Bay:) my favorite piece, well that is very hard to narrow down. We live all the knit pieces because they are so soft and comfortable, but the Summertime tank dress is definitely at the top! It’s soft, it twirls, and it has the fun little puppy dog trim! My 5 year old wants to wear it all the time! So that’s our pick for the favorite… The Summertime Tank Dress! Can’t wait to see the new pieces if art tomorrow!!!

You pose a VERY tough question. I can never, ever pick just one favorite of anything. Seriously. But, I’ll list two things that I re-purchased in larger sizes since I love them so much: Esmeralda peasant and Pleasantville tank. (Sorry, I couldn’t really stick to just one.) And…I’m in love with the Cleo lap. 🙂

I LOVE any knot dress– it took me so long to even bother buying one, then I was hooked- then I though I’d never like a knot dress with an apron, but watching my 2 year old flutter across a playground in one changed me— so my favorite piece has to be the Swiss miss paneled knot dress- rich colors, a little sparkle, just perfect – it was or first and now both girls own one 🙂

FAVORITE EVER was Madison lap from HSP. Soft and comfy, perfect with leggings, and still a beautiful, sweet color to brighten the cold, dreary MI winter. Thanks for keeping my new kindergartner a little girl <3.

Amanda - September 2, 2013 - 9:48 pm

Royals!! I’ve owned them five times. Lol.

Stacey Zink - September 2, 2013 - 9:48 pm

I am loving all these new colors and patterns. Beautiful!! I have no idea what the name of the piece is, but my daughter has one MJ shirt she has never let me pass on. It is from when she is 4 and it is a white background and has pale pink flowers with brown accents. It is clinched at the high waist and flares out. She hasn’t been able to wear it for 3 years, but it still hangs in her closet. We love your clothes!

Heather Holt - September 2, 2013 - 9:47 pm

My favorite piece ever has to be The Raven from Hammond Bay. There’s something about this piece. It’s MJ all rolled (tired) into one! It was the first piece I bought and I it was sold out when I went to my first show. My TK Robyn Shirley searched for it and found it for me. It was then that I knew Matilda Jane was different. Extraordinarily personal. I met Megan at Art Fair and she snapped some great pics of all of us who were thrilled to tears to see the return of our fave line and pieces!!! So excited for tomorrow! Thank you!!!
