It’s Charity Auction Time!

I don’t know about you, but I love a good auction. Especially when the funds benefit an organization that is near and dear to my heart. It’s been awhile since our last auction, and I was itching to do another one. But whom should the funds go to???

Because of your participation throughout the years, we have been able to raise a lot of money for Habitat for Humanity with our online auctions. For this, we are forever grateful. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for always supporting Matilda Jane and the various organizations we are passionate about. I feel like anything is possible with you ladies standing by us.

For this auction, though, I wanted to switch it up a bit. Less than a year ago I met a gentleman named Aaron. He works for a local organization called Forgotten Children. I had seen their ads around town but had no idea they were a local Indiana organization until Aaron spoke with me. Listening to him talk about the history of the organization, all the children they have helped, and even his personal experience made me fall in love with this organization. As we talked, all I could focus on was how Matilda Jane could help. I mean this is what we do after all.

At the time, Forgotten Children desperately needed clothing, and the first thing I thought was, “Aaron, you came to the right place, we have the cutest clothes in town!” I’m sure I am a little biased, but most importantly, I was excited that we could provide something they needed right away. A few months later Aaron and I met again. He shared a few new projects they had in the works, and I knew that Matilda Jane could help with more than just clothing donations.

This is where you and your hearts come into play. Please join us Thursday, December 11 and Friday, December 12 for an online auction. It starts at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, and will end at 5:00 P.M. on Friday.

This auction is unique. It will showcase one-of-a-kind hobo and messenger bags designed by Matilda Jane employees! Our team was excited to step away from their day-to-day responsibilities and get creative. They took inspiration from all sorts of places, and came up with some truly beautiful designs. There are more than 50 unique bags, and I think you’ll be really impressed with how great everyone did.

Each team member who designed a bag also wrote a brief inspiration statement, which I encourage you to read. There are a lot of new faces here at Matilda Jane, and this is a great way for us to introduce them to you. Everyone is really excited to watch the auction to see which bag gets the highest bids, and to see if we recognize the winner. We can’t wait!

All proceeds will benefit Forgotten Children during the busiest part of their year. I encourage you to read more about them and the wonderful things they do each day. I know you will fall in love just like I did. This auction is more than just cute bags; this auction is a beautiful example of a community coming together to help each other. Matilda Jane has always been built on that, and I cannot imagine a better time of year to remember that.

Thank you,

Another amazing example of God putting people and needs together. Another wonderful example of Matilda Jane’s reaching out to those in need and to those whose lives will be changed as a result of the love and generosity shown to them.
