I’m a silly human. It doesn’t take much to impress me or make me go WOW. So you can imagine my reaction to flying BUSINESS CLASS for the first time on an international flight (I don’t know why I’m being so specific, we don’t do it on domestic flights either!). Talk about fancy. I wonder if Denise is trying to butter me up for something. I guess it doesn’t matter because butter or not, I would jump off a bridge for her. (DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?)
Ahhh, Japan… Where to begin? We arrived last night at 4pm and of course, one of our bags had missed the flight from Detroit to Narita. But never fear, we only had to wait about an hour for the next plane to bring it. How weird is that? How does ONE bag go missing? You have no idea how worried I was when we got to baggage claim and there’s an official looking woman with a clipboard yelling “Miss McDonald, Miss McDonald!” Ha too bad it was Denise’s bag, not mine!!
And then, after room service (THE MOST DELICIOUS HAMBURGER EVER), we hit the hay.
SO THE ADVENTURE BEGINS…. After a healthy breakfast, we got in a taxi and headed to Harajuku, a place Denise has dreamed of going for ages. I was just happy to be invited 🙂
The place was packed and just like we imagined. A million shops with candy, barrettes, tiny toys, the funniest socks, and soooo many boutiques filled with all the cutesy-est, girliest clothes you could ever want. All the lace, embroidery, and the soft colors had our heads filled with ideas for Spring 2015. Did you know that’s why we are here in this beautiful city? For inspiration! Pinch me, I certainly cannot believe this is my life most days.
I’m so overwhelmed with emotion here. So grateful to be on this adventure with Denise. Did you guys know she’s back? Like REALLY back. She’s full of energy and being so bossy, I looooove it. I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed it. I was telling Matt Kelley the other day that I cannot wait for her to email me during the day and totally interrupt everything I’m working on and ask me to do something else. Ya, it can be totally annoying (love you Denise!) but it’s MY FAVORITE. It’s what I’m used to. I love it when she parachutes in. I think it makes me better. Better at design, better at delegating, just plain better.
FURTHERMORE. We brought our two favorite pals along for the ride too. Have you met them? This is Radar and Satellite. Clearly they’ve been enjoying themselves too…
And last buuuuut not least, I know you guys are reading this to find out the winners from Denise’s blog yesterday! But guess what? No one got all three answers correct! Yes the Matilda Jane sign has moved locations, but that wasn’t the change we were talking about. So to make the contest even MORE interesting we will be giving out a $150 MJC gift card (we upped it!!!!) to the three winners AND their most favorite piece from the February 1st launch!
Ps. There’s a reason google is Denise’s best friend 🙂
