Little Girls, Love and MJC

b1And I promised I would blog more often. I really have no place making promises. Ya, mostly because I forget half the stuff I say lately. Or maybe it is half the stuff I think I said? One way or the other, I am pretty forgetful lately. My brain is so scattered. It is funny and kinda weird. I like to think I am usually the girl that can come up with some pretty great ideas. Even more important I like to think I am good at executing the ideas. Not so much lately. Good thing there are a few people named Sam, Kayla, Allison, Elyse and Alicia.  And they are just few of the girls who who help turn these ideas into reality.

You do know I always have an idea when I blog. Well, it starts with an idea then turns to rambling. I started this blog last week in my head. I love scrolling through FB photos. When I came across these photos (above and below) I was a little bit in heaven. From the very get go of Matilda Jane it was all about keeping your little girl a little girl. There is one thing that screams little girl to me and that is those cute little knees. Aghhh…. Sounds crazy but nothing is better than a Shirley Temple length dress. And when I see my dresses hitting right at or above the knee I scream in delight. Well, not really scream but my heart skips a beat. I seriously believe the right fit makes the dress all the more cuter.

b2And these girls of Brown Town (where I swiped all the photos from with permission of course) wear their Matilda Jane so well I had to share. And I gotta say, I was a little excited to see one of my faves photographed a ton. Remember I posted this pic a few weeks ago. The Love Bug Knot Top is totally a fave.2I am so cracking myself up right now. I kinda think I like to blog cuz it’s an excuse to do fun little scrapbooky photos. Seriously. I am no graphic designer but I sure do love to cut and paste.

So what else? Key tags start going in orders soon. The Olympics have been amazing. I love seeing the athletes raw emotions after they have a great run, super high jump or fancy flip. I just love happiness. I love Meryl Davis.  She looks just like Princess Jasmine. I might almost bet you someday she’ll be in Disney on Ice as a princess.  Aside from Olympics, I am on Season Two of Breaking Bad. Huge crush on Jessie. And seriously getting ticked at Walt for not being more of a father figure to Jessie. What else? I am loving all the snow and I am hating being so tired. So tired all of the time. I may need to get myself one of those sun lamps that make people think it is summer. Hmmm. Oh, and the Mighty Acorn auction starts February 24. I’ll keep you posted on this.

b3and for you girls above…shoot Lauren at laurenw@matildajaneclothing.com and email. I bet she has a little something special for you!! How about 3 pieces from the adult collection. Just let her know your name, address what pieces, and that you are my special late valentines. (PS notice the cartoon doll is even wearing her dress at the knees)

Yikes, on that note, I totally forgot to blog my love for you all. Shoot. Okay. Let’s do this. Post a photo of your love for MJC on our FB page and watch the blog. If you see your photo here (by Sunday) we’ll send some love your way. Love for love. I mean, it’s gotta work both ways, right?

Alrighty, it is getting late. I totally thought as soon as I was done with chemo my energy would jump right back. I was so wrong. So tired of feeling like a slug, A slug with no brain. Good thing for the girls. They make my job easier. Ahh and yes, I forgot. I need to introduce you to them all. Maybe I can delegate that out to Sam. Sam?

– Denise

My theme song for when some MJ arrives is “Happy” … Because I can’t help but feel excited and overjoyed to open that little bag of happiness! Just placed my 3rd order but still have items on my wishlist. And did I mention how exited I am for the second release? (Insert happy dance here too!)

I have more recently been following this blog. I love reading it. Is there something you have to subscribe to? I just want to make sure that I keep seeing everything. Plus I will be watching out because I have a keytag. 🙂

erything other than love for the most beautiful God though it be sugar- eating. What is agony of the spirit? To advance toward death without seizing hold of the Water of Life.

Your energy will come back, Denise. I have to say, if you can do all that are running half speed, my brain is in a twist at all you do full speed. Hang in there, lady. And as for Brownies pictures, great choice! Without fail I have to revise my want list whenever I see the fun combos she posts. Sometimes I can think out of the box but she ALWAYS thinks out of the box and I LOVE IT! Have a terrific week, love!

Holy cow! This is WONDERFUL! The DAYMAKER’S CLUB is in full effect, y’all! =) Thank you so much Denise and MJC! This is such a great surprise! For about a month now, I have been working hard at my diet and to get healthy again, only falling off the wagon this Valentine’s weekend; these Mama pieces are going to be a great motivator to keep me going! I want to do these beautiful clothes justice after all! Thank you SO MUCH for thinking of me! You are truly a special, special lady, Denise, with the BIGGEST heart imaginable. With all these amazing things you do, e.g, the clothing lines, the blog, Platinum, Art Fair, Mighty Acorns, being an AMAZING mom, wife, and friend, and I am sure I am forgetting a TON of others, it is no wonder that you are low on energy. =( I am sorry that you are not feeling like yourself, but you are doing WONDERFUL things and touching so many people’s lives with the energy you do have. =) Thank you very, very much again! I hope you feel like your old self very soon!

Reading this with the sweet stuff about keeping our babies little actually put a huge smile on my face. My whole out look on life right now with all the negative things going on in this world is I want to keep my babies as innocent as long as I can. The passing of Shirley Temple made me think geez that is the last innocent icon we had. Yes some people might say mj is just clothing but seriously in my world it’s more. To see the look on a little angels face as she twirls or holds a shirt to her precious face and comments that it must be how a cloud feels. Well it just makes me cry because that’s innocence and I love it. Keep them little as long as we can, that’s an excellent motto. Thank you!! You are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you feel better soon. God bless.

Congrats ladies!!

Amy Salisbury - February 19, 2014 - 1:00 am

Denise, it must be so hard going through all of the treatment and changes. You are in my prayers tonight and thought of often.

Brittney B - February 19, 2014 - 12:43 am

You are not a slug without a brain. You are amazing, and it’s okay to feel tired! Rest, and let those creative ideas grow 🙂 we love to see those creative ideas come to life. And we are the lucky ones who get to enjoy those ideas in our life and in our closets.

Erica S - February 19, 2014 - 12:40 am

I’ve been taking pictures of my little girl and her peek-a-boo knees all afternoon and you’re so right. They are the sweetest accessory! Praying you feel 110% asap. You are just the best, Denise. Hands down, the best! My daughter’s been making up stories lately. Crazy stories, silly stories, funny stories, serious stories…just stories. (Did I mention I work from home and she has me look her in the eye for all of these stories? lol. I guess I make her look me in the eye for things that are important). Anyway, her story the other day was about three little girls from Africa who wore Matilda Jane and got to go to school. Basically, she went to visit them and they learned about each other and they were so happy they all loved Matilda Jane. And when she came back, she brought the girls home with her (and they found a pet monkey). Not much to it, but for a three year old who has never been to preschool, I thought it was sweet. You’re touching little girls hearts all over this world. The best!

Congrats to the winners! Mommas need to look good too!

Lori Bowen - February 18, 2014 - 11:29 pm

Oh Denise…you seriously just amaze me!!!! How on Earth can I thank you enough for your amazing gesture of three free mama pieces. I think you know that so many of us Mamas grab up all the gorgeous pieces of MJ that we can for our princesses, and sometimes forget ourselves. So, thank you for thinking of us…as ALWAYS! I am sorry to make this a long comment, but after two mini strokes since November, there is a marked issue with my memory. It is weird! I am not traveling the same road, but I do feel some of your struggle, and we are all with you and love you. I just wanted to say that, and thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. <3

Magen - February 18, 2014 - 11:29 pm

YAY! From the gorg BrownTown cuties (and gorgeous miss Emily), to the lovely winners (Lori is just sweeter than sweet!) this is a whole post of delightfulness!

Jenn - February 18, 2014 - 11:25 pm

Love seeing Scout, Sailor, Suri, Emily, and Papa Smurf featured on the blog….beautiful girls with equally beautiful moms…inside and out. And great to see Lori B win a prize. Another rare gem in the MJC world. Rock on, ladies!

Sarah O. - February 18, 2014 - 11:25 pm

You always make me smile! We just ended season 2 of Breaking Bad and my husband has proclaimed it the best show ever made. That is BIG coming from him. Give yourself a break in the recovery area. Even the flu knocks you on your butt for a long time and this was so much more than that! Give yourself permission to have healing time, both physically and mentally!

Heather Weichbrodt - February 18, 2014 - 11:24 pm

Brown Town has helped so many people purchase MJ with photos of her adorable girls modeling it!! She has a cult following (me included) on release day! So happy to see her featured!!!
And congrats to the mama piece winners too! You guys have been so very generous this season:) great to see!!!

Loretta C - February 18, 2014 - 11:19 pm

Denise–as always, love your free flow thoughts. It’s like we’re sitting right there next to you just talking and hanging out! Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll continue to move mountains and make this world a better place!

And, congrats to these lucky winners for some gorgy adult pieces!!!
