The things that you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.

Where do I even start with Denise and Platinum? It was a mixture of passion, love, creativity, soul, and so much more. Platinum was her place, her place to create magic…you know in all of that spare time she had. How she did it all, I will never know!
I started working for Matilda Jane about 2.5 years ago — hired on as a “Platinum Gal.” I entered her magical world unsure of what to expect. Little did I know that those years of layering, handling uploads, sewing buttons, packing, and shipping would lead me to where I am today, designing Platinum. What? How did this all even happen….
From the start I was a sponge. I wanted to know, learn, and see all the ins and outs of Platinum, and Matilda Jane as a whole. The Platinum Fairy (Denise) would sneak in at night to work her magic, then we would roll in at 9 and bring her ideas to life. I loved coming in and seeing all her notes, some good, some bad, but all were because she wanted everything perfect. I only saw Denise work a few times, but when I did, it was like getting a peek inside that creative mind of hers. Soon enough, I was doing the same.
Denise created such an amazing atmosphere of encouragement and creativity. “Be fearless, be yourself, and never apologize for being you” are just a few things that were said often. That was so refreshing, and working in that kind of environment inspiredme to dream more, achieve more, and work for more. Denise definitely didn’t settle, and she often challenged us to do the same. It was pretty contagious.
This past week has been like a roller coaster with a lot of ups and downs. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work and learn from such an amazing woman and be apart of this wonderful company that she created. The impact she had on me, but more importantly the world and the legacy that she leaves behind, is truly incredible. I strive to be like Denise, and carry on her Platinum legacy each and every day. She always challenged us and held us accountable for our hopes and dreams. Oh Denise, what big shoes I have to fill, but I am so up for the challenge.
Tomorrow, we will hold a special Platinum upload to honor Denise. She taught us all how to give, no matter how big or small. So tomorrow is our Mighty Platinum upload with all the proceeds benefiting the Mighty Acorn Foundation. Be ready for when we push the button for this amazing woman!
