Oh Girl, I love you so….

chelsa-blog

Last week Lynette sent this out to the Matilda Jane Team. Her words are so great and I can’t seem to find any right now, so this feels right.

A Message from Lynette ~

“Words are funny things.  Sometimes they just all come together and sharing exactly what you want to share is just simple!  This isn’t one of those times but I’ll try my best.  A little over three years ago Denise sat me down and insisted that if I didn’t hire someone to help me with my work load she was going to go to the tanning salon and find me someone, she did that to me once before.  She suggested her sister-in-law Chelsa and my first reaction was, “Oh no, working with family is tricky and often times doesn’t turn out so well.”  But when I met Chelsa and I saw that amazing smile and her sparkly bright eyes shared her inner confidence I knew she was my perfect MJC partner!  Right away she would “arm wrestle” me for work I was reluctant to give up.  She jumped in with both feel and made such an impact on me and all of the MJC family.

A couple months ago Chelsa chose to take a step away from work and focus on her health.  Her battle with cancer needed more of her time and energy.  This was a big step for her because she is so committed to helping me and to the piece of MJC she takes care of, not to mention she thinks she can do it “all”.   We have all missed seeing her each day, but it was the right choice.   Recently Chelsa had to make an even more difficult choice.  But, just like with everything she does, she did everything she could to make sure this decision was the right decision.  Matilda Jane has been her second home for years but she has chosen to leave her position indefinitely.  We talked and talked and she kept saying let everyone know how much they are loved and how blessed she is for the many meaningful relationships Matilda Jane has brought into her life.

chelsa-blog-2

Words are funny things and when it comes to sharing how much this amazing friend has touched my life there are just not enough.   I know you all feel the same way and Matilda Jane has forever been bettered because of this special lady.”

Chelsa left us last night. She cherished all the signs of support you continued to show her through her battle with breast cancer.  (Here is her story.)  The cards, flowers, pictures and messages gave her a deep knowing we are all in her corner and love her dearly.  We all want to do something, anything, to let her family know we care, to let them know how amazing Chelsa was. We have set up a college fund for Michael and Andrew at http://www.gofundme.com/7ga46s?preview=1

Thank you in advance for all your thoughts and prayers. I will post later today about the service once we finalize details.

A little girl I loved very much died this week. I haven’t been able to deal very well with the pain yet. I don’t want other people to hurt like this, and I’m so sorry for your loss. I wish I could fix things.

So sorry for your loss:( It sounds as though she was an amazing lady. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Christina - March 12, 2014 - 6:49 pm

Reading this put an instant lump in my throat. No loss is comparable to another. No matter how many people we know who have passed too soon, from cancer or otherwise, nothing can compare to the sorrow you are all feeling this minute, and in the days to come.

The sincere outpouring of emotions and sympathies from your faithful readers is further testimony to the power of the relationships built from your incredible company. You are surrounded by the earnest prayers of hundreds, if not thousands, of friends in this MJC community. I hope there can be some comfort found in these prayers, as they are a well-deserved blessing after the measureless smiles and life-changing joys brought about by Matilda Jane.

I remember reading posts about the office celebrating Wig Wednesdays – maybe we should have all have one of our own?

Melissa Scamuffa - March 12, 2014 - 5:50 pm

I am so sorry, she was such a sweet lady. I will be thinking of you all.

Stacie Petta - March 12, 2014 - 10:44 am

Chelsa’s family & the MJ family are in our thoughts and prayers! She sat at my table one year at art fair and was such a friendly, beautiful, smiley woman!

Roxanne Jacobs - March 12, 2014 - 5:15 am

I want to say how sorry I was to hear of Chelsa passing . I only today realized we had a mutual friend ( Kayla ). I remember the first time I saw Chelsa at the Cancer Center, … she was a breath of fresh air. I was very afraid of the unknown ( chemo )and when I saw Chelsa week after week and she was so full of life , beautiful, bubbly and always smiling…I seemed to be calmed by her just seeing her. I saw her on the 27th of Feb. and could tell she didn’t feel well , yet she still had her beautiful smile ~ I admired her strength …I prayed for her that particular day … I remember thinking many a times that she was a fighter ,fighting the fight and always a smile for everyone and a sweet hello to all ~ My heart hurts today for her family and loved ones . She was a favorite to many of the staff at the Cancer Center ,and will be deeply missed … My prayer is that the Lord wrap His arms tenderly around her son’s ,husband, family, friends and MJC coworkers and remind them their Earthly Angel has now spread her wings and will forever be a Heavenly Angel to keep watch over them all ~j~ Rest In Paradise ~j~

I never met Chelsa, but I saw this info/blog on my sweet cousin’s (Stacy Lewis) fb. She is a member of the MJC family. What I noticed from reading the comments about this awesome lady is how much she was loved. I also noticed from the comments how many Christians are a part of this group/family and it shows through their loving messages and outpouring of kindness! I hope and pray Chelsa’s family finds peace in His arms. I also hope everyone hugs their babies a little tighter tonight.

Preeti Jain - March 11, 2014 - 3:59 pm

Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of one remarkably beautiful person, Chelsa. Our condolences, love and prayers to the entire DeMarchis family, her MJC family and her army of friends. Truly an incredible loss and heaven now celebrating her arrival. We will always remember you!!
Yours,
Preeti, Sushil, Shriya, Pravi and Aashi Jain

I met chelsa over a pair of sunglasses at art fair and in that brief exchange I could not imagine having the strength she had to enjoy the moments while facing such a terrible prognosis. She did it with such grace and my heart is heavy for her friends and family.

So young and vibrant and taken entirely too soon for our liking. Our God above is the only one who knows the number of our days. Rejoice and know that she is whole, without pain, and worshipping at the all mighty’s feet. What a day she is having. We weep for her here in earth. Prayers for her boys (all three of them). The heavens won an angel.

As we struggle through our 3 year olds battle with cancer this hits close to home. Often I have wished I could take my child’s suffering. I am so sorry for this woman’s family and children and can imagine how hard to watch her in this condition. I can only pray for peace for you all at this time and know others out there are still fighting that we may someday live in a world without cancer. <3

Andrea M - March 11, 2014 - 12:59 pm

So sorry for all Chelsa’s family and friends. Those precious boys. Death is such an enemy but there is comfort in being remembered, in our Creator’s memory, in the hearts and memories of those we touch in our life, by the light in our children’s eyes. She looked to have touched so many people in such a positive way. That lives on forever

Carrie Gugger Kelley - March 11, 2014 - 12:54 pm

I met Chelsa at Art Fair last year and one of my favorite memories was her pulling up the trolley to her home… so that she could give her sons a hug in the yard.
My heart breaks for those boys, so my prayer is that they will see signs from their mom and that God will hold them in his hands …until they meet again.

Melissa - March 11, 2014 - 12:53 pm

I’m so sorry to hear of Chelsea’s passing. My heart and prayers go out to each of you in the mjc family.

Holly - March 11, 2014 - 12:50 pm

My heart goes out to the whole Matilda Jane family. I am so sad about this news. I pray for peace and comfort for you all, and I’m so thankful that Chelsa was on the other end of the line one spring day in 2011 when I called your office. In just a few short minutes of chatting, I could feel her bubbly personality and her love for her boys and MJC. She made me fall head over heels for this company, and now my heart is broken for you all.

Brittney B - March 11, 2014 - 12:50 pm

My heart is breaking for Chelsa, her family, MJC family and close friends right now. All I can think about is the trolley tour at art fair last summer, where we were driven around Fort Wayne and one of the stops was her home. Her sweet little boys came running out waving to see their momma with all of us. So much joy and love on their faces to see her hop out of the trolley and hug them. I am so heartbroken at the thought of this person who I only met briefly, but filled a room with so much brightness is now gone. I am so sorry for your loss. So much love and prayers. 🙁

Becky - March 11, 2014 - 12:47 pm

I have followed your story for a little over a year. I am so sorry you have lost your earthly battle, but rejoice with you in receiving a body that is free from pain and Cancer now. I am so sad for your boys and family and will pray for comfort for them.
