Our Fun and Unpredictable MJC Lab…

Our June Release is almost here, and there really is nothing I like better than a little sneak peek. This is the final release for the Hello, Lovely! collection — where has the time gone? We are already working on Spring 2016, yikes! All the work that goes on “behind the seams” is pretty incredible, and I want to share with you the inspiration behind one of my favorite pieces in this release. I can’t wait to see what you all think.

The first piece of the line that I designed is a little beauty called the Always Twirling Dress. I started there because I have always loved summer, and I have also always loved DRESSES! What little girl doesn’t love a chance to twirl like a ballerina? One of my favorite things about Matilda Jane is that Denise and Sam created sooo many amazing, beautiful dresses.

When I started designing this release, I looked through all Matilda Jane’s fabulous past dresses and came across one line I particularly loved, Good Hart. I was trying to think of why it spoke to me so much, and it hit me — the bright colors reminded me of my favorite summer sundress from when I was a little girl.

My family had rented a little cottage on the lake, and I remember spending the day swimming and playing in the sand. I wanted to stay outside all day, but the one thing that pulled me inside was getting the chance to dress up for our family dinner. I can still remember my 7-year-old self feeling so proud and beautiful in my blue and red sun dress. One evening as I walked to dinner with my family, I remember a woman stopping us and saying how adorable I looked in my pretty dress. Although I was a little embarrassed, I definitely felt like a princess and it truly made my evening as I danced out of the restaurant. My mom couldn’t tear that dress off me the rest of the summer, I loved it so much!

The colors in the Always Twirling Dress are a new take on my favorite dress and those wonderful memories at the beach  — brightly colored shovels, pails, and swimsuits on beautiful creamy sand. I hope this dress helps you think of summer too, and that it inspires many a stranger to tell your gal how beautiful she is (inside and out).

Check back soon to see more pieces that I hope will help your little one stand out and leave a little sparkle wherever she goes.

Love this post, thanks for making me smile and remember my favorite sundress as a child (red and yellow with ladybugs). I absolutely love the colors of this dress–so excited to see what else R5 has in store for us mamas and our little lovelies! Bring on June!

Please do take a peak at Hammond Bay and even back to Westside…and the Laverne dress for tweens. Thanks! Hoping the above comes in size 12! We have so loved the Days of Summer in 3 progressively bigger sizes!

So cute! Serendipity was one of my favorite lines.

I love this blog post. My little girl feels the same way when people compliment her on her Matilda Jane. Her favorite dress of all time has to be the Peppermint dress. She’s been through 2 different sizes in that dress and we’re looking for a third because she loves it so much. I think I could do a slideshow of her in that little dress and have at least 1000 pictures. We love the new designs and you are doing a great job with the new collections and so many of the Hello Lovely pieces are on our wish list! Thanks for a little peek behind the seams!

This is my favorite style dress. It just fits my daughter perfectly and she just loves the twirl factor. Love this one!

please say this comes to size 14. The older girls love this style. If it does we will be buying three of them!

This style dress which was called Days Of Summer was from the serendipity line. It’s definitely one of our favorite styles.

I have purchased so many Hello Lovey/Road trip dresses that I planned to avoid them this release. But this one is on my list! I hope for Spring 2016 we get a lulu and an ethel!
