1. Would be the SUGAR
2. Would be a little bit of SPICE
And 3. would certainly be ALL THINGS NICE
And the winning name??? I’m gonna make you wait it out a bit. Six people submitted it, but I want to double check my work first. yes, and that mean all 6 will win the complete “………” line.
I really need to blog about today. Hopefully tomorrow night I will have time. It was crazy and wonderful. Joe will be wearing a cast on his left arm (his good arm) for 3 full weeks. He is now forced to do everything with his right hand. Which may seem simple, but when you have limited use of it, say 10-20% it is pretty difficult. It would be best compared to me trying to eat with my feet. Everything from drinking to pushing the button in the elevator has turned into a challenge.
Denise…
I so fell for Joe.. Not even the same thing, however the same idea.
Chance 7 our baby son was born early and his eyes were not developed.
We have been trying for years to correct it.
We patch his GOOD eye everyday and dilate it as well and this has been going on for years, he hates it!
We had hoped for better results but the fact of the matter is (his left eye) will be considered legally blind.
We are still fighting with it daily and hope to keep what little he can see out of it (where it’s at) I think it’s like 20/1600
while his good eye is 20/30.
They have told us that if he plays sports at all her would be required to wear a face mask. IF he were to ever take a hit to his right eye, the good one, what would we do?
I worry about him every hour of everyday. I don’t tell him the whole story, I want him to know that he can still DO ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that his heart desires. I just hope i am right.
hugs to you all as you take this on, poor Joe will be upset and so flustered about it all.. But in the end it may be the best thing in the world for him.
Hugs!
Denise, I can definitely identify with what your family is going through. Along with being a photographer, I am a mom to 3 kids 5 and under. My oldest, Emily, who’s 5, has ulcerative colotis, had her colon removed, and is in and out of the hospital all the time. I can tell from your attitude that your family faces the challenges head on like mine does, doesn’t complain, and you do what you have to do to make the best life you can for your kids. I know your Joe will appreciate your love and caring for him and will grow strong from it. I’ll be thinking of him and your whole family!
Hugs to Joe. And to his brave family.
We are going in for a diagnosis for my son on Wednesday, I am feeling scared and lost, my little bits is brave though.
I am going to borrow you and Joe as our inspiration if that is okay? 🙂
With God, a strong will, and such devoted parents, I’m sure Joe will make great strides! I just listened to an online seminar of Dr Karyn Purvis, and she said, ‘cowboy’ A LOT! She’s from TX. 😉 So, Joe, we’re rootin’ for ya, cowboy! 🙂
I hope Joe hangs in there! I am sure he will. 🙂 You are in our thoughts and prayers Joe!
Congrats to the winners (whomever they are)! I am sure I didn’t win b/c I didn’t put anything with sugar or spice in the collection name. Go figure. 🙂 It was fun to think of the collection though! 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win Denise! I love your little (or should I say BIG) contests!
Go, Joe, Go!!! He is going to be one of the toughest people on the planet, not to mention compassionate, because of his experiences. Blessed. XXOOXXOOXX
p.s. I know what you mean TKJT, I tried to be original too, and “Sugar and Spice” was one of my first thoughts, but I didn’t write it because I saw that someone already had! (if that’s what it is) C’est la vie!!! haha 😉 Fun, anyway, to get the creative juices flowing.
Go Joe!! We are sending prayers for strength and healing your way. Sounds like you are an incredible boy with incredible parents 🙂 And thank you Denise for your continued generosity – can’t wait to see who wins.
Keeping Joe and you guys in my prayers.
Go Joe! You have a lot of people cheering for you! And Denise, your generosity never ceases to amaze me!
I had a little laugh when you said he might use his feet because my daughter who is missing her left hand uses her feet all the time and also carrys alot of things in her armpit. Tell joe, he is one tough guy and good luck 🙂
Your son and family amaze me! Prayers are with you!
I live in MS about three hours from B’ham so if you need a break call me and I would love to entertain y’all!
What a big lesson for Joe to learn at such a young age that sometimes we have to experience hardships and painful situations before strength and healing come. What a mighty acorn you are helping to grow!
Joe, you are awesome. Thinking of you and saying a prayer for you.
Congratulations to the winners and to all at MJ who read through these entries!!!
Hang in there sweet Joe!!! You are a trooper! chin up ~ you can do it….
Lots of Hugs
Deb & Sophie
Congrats to all the winners! I would love to share a story with you Denise… My Lola was born with a club foot. Her right foot was crumpled in my tummy and being almost 9.5 pounds didn’t help! For the first 2.5 years of her sweet life she was in a cast. Her little life as she knew it became very difficult, challenging, and frustrating for all of us involved. We went to the hospital on once every 3 weeks to have it sawed off and put right back on. The hopes we had were high… And I’m happy to share that persistence, love, and fabulous doctors helped to get her back on her feet… And happy! We as parents want to do whatever is possible, within our powers to nurture our kids world to 100% happiness. I know that through your ups and downs, your love and dedication as parents will pay off. He is a wonderful blessing…. High hopes for big smiles and all the happy days that are yet to come! Xoxo
Thoughts and prayers for Joe and your entire family. Love to hear updates about your amazing (not to mention gorgeous) little man. Inspiration to us all.
Dear Denise,
I am a therapist who have seen this tecnique used with Joe work so well! Hang in there – lots of love and encouragement for the challenging moments – do not take your eyes off the goal. Believe..
Also, I wanted to say that I knew a little boy in this situation and the cast on the good arm really helped with the strength in the other! Joe can do it! It will be a challenge but he will do great!
I have 100% confidence in Joe..he sounds like such an amazing, strong and determined little boy!
LOL, LOVE IT ERIN..and I hope you are right bc that was one of my answers, lol
Okay, I think I figured it out based on the three photos-Snickerdoodle-lots of sweets, then a little girl snickering, and someone doodling on an arm! LOL!
Human kindness is overflowing!!!! And yes, Edgar’s has the best cupcakes! Strength, patience, rest and healing to your son and family.
I can’t wait to hear the winning name! I first couldn’t believe that someone would win the entire collection, and now knowing that six people will win the entire collection…wow! Your kindness never stops.
Joe,
Good luck big guy! Hang in there. You can do hard things. Everytime I think of you, I think of you playing baseball and it inspires me so much and always puts a smile on my face. You are in my prayers.
Glad everything went well with Joe today! I know I didn’t win because almost all my answers were only said one. I guess I am too original! lol I can’t wait to see what you pick…so excited!!! I hope it’s something with “holly” in it!!!
Joe is such a tough and upbeat little man who always faces his challenges head on- I know he will overcome this too! I bet this helps him to be a better goalie too 😉
Go Joe! Kids are soooo great at adapting and with his dedicated parents, he will do great. Looking forward to hearing the winning name! I was reading through the entries and there were so many good ones!
I know he’ll do great…he’s a little champ!
Go Joe Go! You two are amazing parents to be helping him out. As for the winning entry – I bet it’s Peppermint Twist. It’s sugary, it’s a bit spicy and of course, it’s everything nice.
I know that this has to be a tough time for your whole family. The challenge is going to be difficult, but worth the hard work. He is a special guy to have such wonderful parents! You are in my thoughts and prayers! If you are in need of a good cupcake while you are in the area, Edgar’s is my favorite. I tried to figure out how to fit some of those in my contest entry last spring…didn’t fit in the envelope, lol. Hugs, and let me know if you need any info on the area or anything!
Congrats to the winners..WOW….6 people..you are awesome and David and the boys and all the 435 staff and the Kitty!~ lol GOOD LUCK JOE Miss Jenn is praying for you~!!
Awww man I tried to be original and not copy anyone. Congrats to the winners…whoever they are 😉 lol
I still have comments “awaiting moderation” so I am thinking I didn’t win…bummer!! 🙂 Can’t wait to see who the winner is! 🙂
Well I checked before posting and all my suggestions were pretty original, and I made sure not to use any that had been already suggested so I know I didn’t win, but the suspense on the name is killing me!
Poor Joe casts are hard!
i have been super busy, but just wanted to say hi! cant wait to hear the name, didnt enter anything …but im excited to hear! prayers for joe that everything “works”
Praying for Joe and the family!!! Can’t wait to hear the winners!!
Stay strong little man!!! You can do it….think of it as a game and see how many ways you can score by doing a task. I am sure you will be a winner….I know your Mama already knows you are 😉 Good luck sweet boy!
Oh man I am getting excited. I would love to have the next line. Heres to wishing. 🙂
Hope he’s better very soon! My father is going through something similar due to a spinal cord injury, Praying all goes well!
Sending good energy and wishes your way…you are in excellent care for your amazing Joe. What a lucky little guy. Having learned more than I ever thought I would in the past month about the brain with my own 4 year old son, I can say that you are doing the right thing. The brain is amazing how it works and can reprogram itself to learn what it needs to do. This will be a bittersweet time I am sure, but miraculous in the end. All the BEST to you, Joe, and your family. Hopefully someone will deliver him a special cupcake tomorrow to begin his journey and celebrate change. 🙂
Good luck to Joe! I hope this therapy brings good things to you all!
Haddie and I are rooting for Joe!
Wow all 6, you guys are way too generous!!
Please update us on how the casting goes, we have contemplated that for our daughtes injury. She has more then 50% use of her left but we want to see if a casting might increase her ROM. Good luck to Joe, not an easy few weeks ahead of him.
Just wanted to offer some sympathy to Joe. I can’t imagine the challenge that must be for him.
What a brave one. Casts can be pretty awesome til they itch. Have a coat hanger wrapped with some tape at the end (no cuts) for when he needs relief! GOOD LUCK!! What a brave little guy!!
My heart goes out to Joe… that will be a very tough three weeks for him and you too.
Very nice of you to give it to all 6! That’s a “pay it forward” moment. It inspires me!
so generous!!! Joe is amazing and I’m sure he’s going to rock using his right arm!!! 🙂
*Big hugs to Joe and I hope he is feeling better really soon.
On the contest: *I’m sure hoping and hoping and hoping (and hoping) that my post that I put: “Love, Spice, and all things Nice” was close enough to the words you choose…… :o)
My guess is he’ll figure it out and completely amaze you! Kids are resiliant that way!!!
Wishing all of you the strength and faith to get through this bittersweet challenge. Joe is such a tropper (and so are you). Best wishes for a successful trip!
You are amazingly generous Denise!
HUGE HUGS for Joe!
Go Joe!
You all will be in thoughts.
PS hugs and prayers for Joe – you can do it!!!
Cannot wait to find out! Congrats to the winners 🙂
I haven’t commented in a while but after catching up with you and your family in the blog I just wanted to tell you that once again I admire all that you do Denise. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with your friends and fans. What a precious time for your family and for Joe. He will be stronger than ever over the next three weeks and I have a feeling he will teach you all so much during this time. I will lift Him up in prayer during this challenging time and I know that God will give him more and more confidence in himself. May God continue to Bless you and your family. I miss you all! Mary Virginia Frist
It’s me again and I didn’t chose this but I think maybe its gonna be Peppermint Kiss! If it is those of you getting the entire line are blessed!
Wow…Joe is pretty amazing, I am sure he can do ANYTHING! ALthough it will be a challenge, he is going to succeed!
Cant wait to hear about the winners!
You guys are so generous! And I can’t wait to see the difference this next 3 weeks will make to Joe!
Good luck to Joe!! You know the MJ community will be thinking of him, as well you his Mom and Dad!! Take care!
Sending wishes for Joe’s speedy and complete recovery, and lots of endurance over the next several weeks. ( Especially for you Mom *wink*) Love these pics:) Bet I’ll love the new collection too!
oh…can’t wait to see the name and winners!!
and bless his heart….will be praying that Joe has the strength and courage to get through the next few weeks…I know he can do it 🙂
I can’t wait to hear about JOE!! Sounds like an exciting 3 weeks ahead, lots of work but worth it in the end, I’m sure!
I have a nephew with cerebral palsy who receives Botox for this same reason. They paralyze his good muscles so he is forced to use the weak ones. I know it’s hard to see him struggle….but its amazing how effective this is. Your family is in my prayers. 🙂
Wow I know how hard this will be for him in the beginning as I work with children like him everyday but in the end it will give him so much strength in that arm!!! GO JOE!!!! Let him wear a Mighty Acorns shirt everyday to lift his spirits!
Oh! I am so sorry to hear about Joe’s arm. My husband would be in the same boat. My prayers go out to you!
What delicious photos!!!
Praying for Joe for the next 3 weeks, I know it will be a challenge, but I know that he will rise to meet it with grace & determination!
And, wow, SO excited to hear the holiday collection name!!! What a super cool contest!
**Can’t wait to see who won!** Tell Joe good luck!
