I love this girl shown in the above pic painting with me nearly 14 years ago. (Did you know that I used to paint children’s furniture in the years before Matilda Jane? Yep, it was sold under the name of ‘la.ti.da’….and some of those customers are still MJC customers….in fact, one of those customers is now an MJC Trunk Keeper!). Anyway, that little girl has always been MY Sara Brown. Today she turned 16, and I knew that I totally dropped the ball…I forgot. I totally got wrapped up in the day’s events and forgot. But Sara: I love you. You are the most amazing 16 year old. The girl with the gentlest heart, sensitive soul and cutest giggle. I wish nothing more for you than you to remain true to yourself, forever proud of who you are and where you came from. I hope that you will not let others dampen your spirit and only help to spread some sunshine in their life. You are my sunshine. I adore you.
Miss Sara Brown has been to many art fairs with me, she is as much Matilda Jane as I am. She’s braved humid 90 degrees days unloading trailers and setting up tents. Heck, she may have even packed one of your orders. She’s a true Laker Hockey fan and a hotel critic. Hotel critic? Ya, well, say about 12 years ago I was doing an art fair and Sara was with me. We went to check into the hotel, and she says “I’m not staying in this dumpy junk hotel!” Oh, that girl I have taught her well. David and I still use that phrase “dumpy junk” when we stay at a not-so-nice hotel.
I LOVE YOU SARA BROWN!
