First and foremost, I hope everyone had a FABULOUS Easter surrounded by family and friends.
Mine was great!! This was my second year hosting Easter for my family and since my family lives a couple hours away, I look forward to having them around.
However, this year I was a few people short, but for good reason. My oldest brother Brian had his 4th baby.
Meet Bryce David weighing in at 7lbs 12 oz 21 in long. I have not been able to meet him yet, but I patiently waiting for my chance.
Babies are not the only circulating around MJC though.
Before I get into the Habitat for Humanity Auction I just wanted to update everyone on the Sales of the Chic A Dee top that
Matilda Jane was donating $20 of every sale of the top to the Chics for Children Foundation.
I ran the report today and as of today, this top as brought in roughly (drum roll please)
$51,440.00.
Do you know what this means?
New bedding, mosquito nets, and furniture.
I was OVER the MOON when I saw this and immediately texted Denise who I think was totally shocked.
THANK YOU does not seem good enough, but THANK YOU to anyone who purchased that top.
Each and every one are making a difference for their future.
Okay, moving on, because like Kiara I could talk about Africa till I am blue in the face.
The purpose of my blog was to talk about Habitat. There are so many great things surrounding this organization and I have been waiting patiently to share.
Just like last year, I decided to gather some great products, photographers, and the well received ONE OF A KIND MJC Knot Dress designed by our very own employees, to be auction off. All Proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build this September.
The ONE OF A KIND dresses are something that not only brought in a lot of funds for Habitat, but also gave our employees the chance to get creative.
Wait till you see what they came up with, even Sam is impressed.
Along with those MJC dresses, I will be auctioning off items from Miss Ruby Sue, Petit Bonbon, and one of Denise favorite artist, Anne Tirey.
You definitely do not want to miss this.
Below are the details.
Please spread the word about the auction to anyone and everyone.
If you have any questions or want to donate an item, please contact me. We still have a little time to add more items.

Besides the auction, on April 20th, Habitat will be hosting their 4th Annual Habitat Women’s Tea banquet.
This is the 3nd year we have sponsored this event, and it is definitely one of our favorites.
There will be light h’orderves made by a local high school, auction item for bid, and a Matilda Jane Fashion show.
This year we asked Mindy (new customer service gal) if she wanted to head up this event, and she quickly said yes.
After all, Habitat was who brought Mindy too us.
Here is a message from Mindy about the event and her experience.
“You get what you give. At least that’s how it seems. Feeling like I needed to do more with my life, I Googled (is that a real word?) volunteer opportunities in my home town. I came across Habitat’s website, and signed up for a day to do something good for somebody else and hoped that I might learn some basic skills in return. But what I got out of that first day was so much more than what I could have ever hoped for.

Shari,
No the total given was not including the bake sale.. Roughly $6500 was raised just with the bake same (MJC Trunk Keepers and Home Office) ITS AWESOME
Was that total including bake sales and online donations?
Well done everyone!
I love how much y’all are devoted to paying it forward and giving back! Something we should all strive to work for on a daily basis 🙂
How awesome! That’s great 🙂
Wonderful post! I didn’t know the Mindy story! It’s a good one!
I love that MJC gives back in so many ways. I enjoy reading the blogs and love seeing the pictures of MJC being so passionate about what they love.
