We try to go to a different park each week, so there are always different playgrounds, walking paths, etc. Sometimes we take a picnic or grab something from a drive-thru and other weeks we don’t go during meal time.
Another thing we enjoy is picking our own berries or going to the farmers market or roadside stand to gather produce, then working together to cook/bake something we all enjoy. The children are more interested in eating something they have a hand in helping create.

This may be a little late, unless you quick read this before Monday morning But, to start summer break we make a Welcome to Summer banner and have the kiddos run through it when they get up on their first day of summer break Also, sit down and make a wish list of things they would like to do and then pick from the dream jar : get icecream, pick strawberrys, build a sandcastle, water balloon fight… Have FUN

Do you have a concert in the park series in your community? Those are a big hit with my five year old. Also, the zoo, local play parks for picnics and an afternoon of crafts are always a great way to spend a summer day.

Carrie, you could get a butterfly kit from Amazon and raise butterflies from caterpillars and then release them. Super cool! We did this one year at our preschool, and the kids LOVED it so much. On Amazon, look for the Insect Lore Butterfly Pavillion that comes with a coupon you can use to send in for the caterpillars when you are ready.
