Summer is Over

Have you ever had one of those days? The kind where you have not stopped moving since your feet hit the floor, and yet you feel like you have accomplished nothing? (When in reality, you accomplished a TON.) Yep I think I’ve had one of those days. But don’t get me wrong, it hasn’t been a bad day at all! It all started off when I went to the dentist this morning, totally worried sick that there just had to be something wrong with one of my teeth, and it turned out there was nothing wrong at all! Who doesn’t love hearing that at the dentist?

Let me tell you about my dentist. This is only my second time going to a new place since I moved, but they are the NICEST people ever! The hygienist was asking me all about Matilda Jane and how I started working here, and she said she’d read about us in some articles lately- which may have made me feel a little bit famous. And then I couldn’t figure out she knew I worked at MJC, except for the fact that I talked about it the last time I was there. Which means they must have made a note about it in my file! Seriously- they know how to make people feel awesome! Later on, the dentist asked me how my summer was, and then it hit me- summer is over. Maaaajor sad face. After a pause to think about it, I said that it was amazing, but I felt like I was still waiting for summer to get started!

Summer at MJC is probably comparable to Black Friday through Christmas Eve at Santa’s Workshop. It brings along the most fun of the entire year, but does it ever keep us busy!! Between prepping for Art Fair, the weekend of Art Fair, recovering from Art Fair, and Dress Rehearsal a month later, there is never a second to spare. Add to that moving to a new building, and no wonder I’m wondering where the summer went. As busy as it was, this was definitely the best summer of my life! Now we’re only a few weeks away from the 3rd Fall release, Pumpkin Spice flavor just came out on Tuesday, Johnny Appleseed festival is coming up, and we’re starting up work on our Habitat for Humanity house next week- so Fall is already looking like a fierce competitor for the awesomeness of Summer. I also already got to see my favorite kids in the entire world last weekend, with the promise of seeing them much more in the next months! So I know with all of that to look forward to, Fall is gonna be good.

What are you looking forward to this fall? Favorite traditions? New additions (like the little cuteness in the picture!)? I want to hear all about it!!

(And next week, I promise Carrie and I will be back tag-teaming it again, so you don’t have to hear me ramble about how awesome my dentist is :))

Happy Weekend!

Love, desi

Looking forward to crisp fall days, soup!, football, falling leaves, the pumpkin patch, drinking hot apple cider, cozy pants & slippers, and a few of my favorite TV shows!

Cool nights with the windows open, picking apples and pumpkins, cozy sweaters, and the Pumpkin Pie blizzard at DQ!

I’m looking forward to my 2 year old learning to say “I love you” this fall. I just know it’s coming any day! She has her ways of letting us know, of course, but I am so looking forward to hearing those words now that she’s starting to talk! We have our special places, too, like painting pumpkins at the Farmer’s Market and “Rock n Romp” at the Corn Maze, but I am most looking forward to watching my son guide my daughter through everything because she’ll really be able to participate this year.

I actually love Halloween!! As a kid I didn’t like it but now its all about the decorating, homemade costumes and fun parades. Not to mention the drinks. In our neighborhood the kids get candy and the parents get their own treat. Its more fun than New Years….that proves I am old…..

I am most looking forward to all things PUMPKIN – ice cream at Trader Joes, lattes at any coffee shop, bars, cream cheese – YUM! I am also looking forward to dressing the kids up to go trick or treating and meeting neighbors since we just moved to a new state!

Fall is such a wonderful season! And my most favorite fall activity, taking the whole family apple picking in the mountains. Beautiful vistas, climbing trees, snapping lots of pictures, oh, and can’t forget the apple cider slushies & apple cinnamon donuts, warm & perfect! We actually just went this weekend & it was the best way to usher in fall! Hope that you enjoy a blessed & fun fall, too!

Mama Hope, I would love to claim those sweeties as mine, but they’re my best friend’s chickies! That is such exciting news about having your own new grandbaby!! Congratulations!

Since just moving out to El Paso, TX we will start some new traditions this year. Excited about taking in the culture and learning more about the Day of the Dead out here. Going to have to transition our fall Chicago clothing to the new desert fall out here 🙂

I love so many things about fall it is hard to choose! I am looking forward to warm apple cider and our local Autumn Arts Festival. I am also looking forward to sweating less when we play in the yard or go to the zoo. The leaves changing color and the smell of crisp fall air, pumpkin seeds and Halloween!

This post made my day, because this Dentist thinks MJC is awesome 🙂

I love Fall! If I still lived on the mainland US I’d really be looking forward to the leaves changing colors. Sadly palm trees don’t do the same. I am looking forward to baking pumpkin cream cheese muffins, pecan pies and spending more time with my kids on their Fall breaks.

Love going to the pumpkin patch with the kids! I also have an almost halloween baby and we love to do something special for his birthday. And who doesn’t love dressing up for halloween. The one day where it is ok to be someone else.

Are those your little chicks? I had no idea – if they do belong to you – I thought you were just a young chick not old enough to have little chickens! But maybe I just missed it! I think working at MJC entitles you to a little fame! Why not, I say!?!? Oh, I got a call this week from one of my chicks that she’s gonna have a little chick of her own … I’m the TN Grammie!! YAY!

Sundee - September 7, 2012 - 7:31 pm

Our trip to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch!! I LOVE fall 7 wearing cozy sweaters with my Uggs…and sleeping with the windows open: nothing better.

Fall is the best season anyways 🙂

Favorite tradition for the fall would be taking our girls to Ellicottville where we got married(they have the cutest place called “pumpkinville” they have the best pumpkin doughnuts too!!) to pick out our pumpkins. It’s our most favorite place, my hubby started a “valleversy” there our first year dating and asked me to marry him there as well, so it was only fitting we would marry there! Best memories of fall there by sure!!!
