As we get ready to close out the month of November, I cannot help but be thankful as cheesy as that sounds. This year has flown by and I don’t know about you, but I like to reflect on the months that passed and think of all the amazing things it held and what I can improve on for the future. 2015 was not one of my favorite years for obvious reasons, but in spite of those, there were so many wonderful things that did happen. Events and people I am beyond grateful for. Here are just a few of my favorite moments.

Warm and Cozy
This year was our 3rd Annual Warm and Cozy event to benefit the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center. Words cannot describe how wonderful the committee, local businesses and all others who are involved are. This event would not be half as successful if it wasn’t for each and every one of them. This year was extra special as we ended the night with a dedication to our sweet friend Denise. It was a perfect night, and something tells me she had something to do with that.

Because of all of the love and support, this year’s event raised $175,780. I am still so speechless when I see that number. So thank you to everyone who made that possible. Seriously…. THANK YOU!

The Matilda Jane Addicts
I wanted to send a very special thank you to the girls who came into town recently and have been so humbled both times this group of ladies have visited. Not just because they have always been so kind to include me in their activities, but because they truly “get it”. They “get” that Matilda Jane was built on giving to others and they “get” that Matilda Jane is about a sisterhood that supports one another through the good, the bad and the ugly. For me it is truly inspiring to witness this each time. So thank you to these girls for being so selfless. For volunteering your whole day to an organization (Forgotten Children) that I love, and for enjoying every moment of it.

Habitat for Humanity
Matilda Jane’s relationship with Habitat for Humanity goes back roughly 4 years now. It has been a wonderful relationship that has allowed our teams to not only bond together on different projects, but they have also given our team a chance to give back in a really big way. Earlier this month they gave us something back that was really big. They dedicated the playground that is located in a new subdivision in Fort Wayne to our girl Denise. I know she would be so embarrassed if she were here to see this, but those of us who love and miss her dearly know it was so deserving. What a great example she has set for all the children who will play there for years to come.

In all honesty, there are more than these big moments throughout the year I am grateful for. I am also grateful for coffee and dry shampoo. On a serious note, thank you to those of you who left a comment on my last blog. I loved reading your favorite quotes. Many of them were on my top 10 list as well. One in particular stuck out so I wanted to share it with you.

Focusing on the wonderful and positive things that you have been a part of is so important during such a difficult year. Thanks for sharing and helping us all remember how important it is to be thankful for the joys in our lives…whatever they may be.

I am thankful for all of the women in our little village as well. We do “get it” Kayla and by doing so, are able to “get” each other as well. Each of us comes from a different place, with different experiences, and yet we support each other and grow each time we are able to give back as a team. Thank you for welcoming us with new opportunities to serve!

We had a great time! It was such a privilege for me to be part of this. Enjoyed every minute and learnt so much. I’m definitely going back and helping whenever I am in Ft Wayne. Sending you love and light 🙂

Ahhh where to start. This right here is why I fell in love with Matilda Jane and the magical world Denise created for us all. Of course the gorgeous colors of Serendipity helped, but this is what is has always been about. Friends who become like family, community that gives us opportunities to make a difference, and memories to last a lifetime. Kayla, you shined at Warm & Cozy carrying on a legacy and it was a blessing to be there. Year after year you help our group find serving opportunities and ways to give back. I too am thankful- very thankful.
