Three things

1. I strongly encourage you all to get a bike this weekend. There is nothing better than a friend calling in the middle of the day to meet up and ride to the local ice cream shop. No kids, just you and a friend in the middel of the day. You’ll feel like you are 14. It is a must! You can thank me later.

2. Lots of big things happening. The fundraiser for Joe and Christy is this weekend. And for those of you who would like to call in an order we’ll take orders in the office tomorrow (Friday) ONLY. A lot of you have asked if it applies to all collections and yup, it sure does.

Also, be sure to get your Mom’s Day nominations in this weekend. Just send it over to Sam,

3. You can keep guessing away cuz no one has guessed it!!! Oh, but man,I love reading the comments much better than a novel any day!

And that’s about it. Joe has a baseball game today and I must say, he’s getting pretty decent.  He’s hitting the ball and actually catching. He plays catcher usually half the game. It’s so cool to watch how he is so blind to the idea that…can’t think of the word.  But he kneels down, never backs away from the ball or bat and just does a great job. He has totally mastered catching with his left hand, quickly taking off his glove to throw the ball back with his left hand. It’s pretty cool to watch. I always forget that many of you don’t know all the wonders of Joe, so here’s a link to my Brave One.  He’s pretty cool. OH, and he has finally mastered his bike. Okay, I am exaggerating a bit, but he’s, I’d say, 90% there and that to me is totally 110%.
Oh and even super cooler we saw Julie, his old OT, the other day on the way to his baseball game. I was telling her how I signed him up to get CMIT In Birmingham.. So excited about that..anyways she asked him what he would like to do that he can’t. His reply ” Give a handshake”.  Love it, and yes, he can shake hands but everyone goes for the right hand it  screws it up for him…

15 minutes later..WOW…I really need to take some pics of Joe. I don’t have  single  GREAT one…good one but not GREAT!! FYI he is not sad in this pics, just super bored. Most likely cuz we wouldn’t let him watch TV or play the Wii.

Head over Heels for Hammond Bay - April 27, 2010 - 4:01 am

I have been racking my brain… You are going to pick some little girls to model for you for the upcoming line???

jessica - April 26, 2010 - 4:08 pm

I would just flip out for bathing suits!!!!

TKJT - April 26, 2010 - 1:28 pm

Is Matilda Jane going to be on a TV show/movie/etc?

Beautifulclothing - April 26, 2010 - 1:06 pm

I am really looking forward to the newsletter release and the exciting new post you are talking about Denise. I just am going crazy trying to figure out what only 8 or 9 people know about. You would think if you were coming out with new clothing that more would know about it or even if you were expecting. Gosh, I can’t wait to find out. Little girl curtains would be adorable. I already said bathing suits. PJ’s would be cute too.

Tina M - April 26, 2010 - 11:52 am

Looking forward to hearing how the fundraiser went! :0)

dot+3 - April 26, 2010 - 10:50 am

I made a guess this morning of MJ pjs. It’s gone now. I thought it posted. MJ pjs make perfect sense cause the fabrics are all so fabulously soft and incredibly cute. Who doesn’t like to go to bed with a smile on your face?

gran - April 26, 2010 - 9:12 am

This one is really hard for those of us whose creative brain spaces have either been filled or gone by the “wayside” with the years. I’ve tried lots of combinations of the words fantastic, wonderful, magnificent, super, fabulous, brilliant, beautiful and maybe even others but can’t come up with the new word. Looking forward to this contest answer.

Sallie - April 26, 2010 - 7:20 am

I thought about this yesterday. Is it fabric? and or patterns?

mom2curls - April 26, 2010 - 6:48 am

…and a brave one he is…what an awesome little man you have there!!! Left handed pitchers are hard to come by!!! Enjoyed reading Joe’s story…you really are truly an inspiration to all woman out there for all the things you do to help out others as well as the help you give to your own treasure of a family!!! Just waiting to see you on Oprah before the years end…

mimi - April 26, 2010 - 6:03 am

Since there always seems to be a favorite piece everyone wants from all the lines, maybe you’re going to have a MJ Favorites section, maybe great “staple stuff”, that we always seem to need, like the Polly Pockets, long sleeve tees, the Sack Lunch brown ruffles, cookie tanks, maybe even raven skirts??? Is that even possible? How great would it be???

dot+3 - April 26, 2010 - 4:36 am

I’ve got it… I don’t think it’s been guessed, and it makes perfect sense… MJ pjs! That’s gotta be it.

DKW - April 25, 2010 - 8:07 pm

J.Diddy - April 25, 2010 - 7:47 pm

i was gonna guess preggy too…but i love the idea of a model search! that would be awesome!

jenniV - April 25, 2010 - 6:37 pm

Nothing better than taking a bike ride with your favorite gal pal. You made my day! Can’t wait to hear about the weekend.

Rachel - April 25, 2010 - 2:36 pm

or maybe a really big sale?

Rachel - April 25, 2010 - 2:35 pm

Your newsletter is coming out?

Natalie - April 25, 2010 - 2:24 pm

It would be cool if you were coming out with a limited edition 4th of July line… Hey, I gotta keep guessing 🙂

Rachel Joy - April 25, 2010 - 2:12 pm

My guess is that Matilda Jane will be releasing a new line of….shoes!!!

Janella - April 25, 2010 - 12:44 pm

Thanks so much for allowing us to place orders via the phone on Friday!! Not only was it so easy and customer friendly it was a real feel good knowing that proceeds of the sales are going to help out a lovely couple and their adoption!! Please make sure to keep us updated on the turnout of their adoption. Loved the story about your bicycle, it definately brings back fun childhood memories of riding around on your bike in the summertime without a care in the world!! Isn’t it nice at least to see it all over again through the eyes of our children. I just LOVE that!!

Darlene Burchfield - April 25, 2010 - 11:57 am

A Matilda Jane model search!!! That would be awesome!!

Alan - April 25, 2010 - 11:21 am

The release of a new BOYS COLLECTION??!!

gran - April 25, 2010 - 9:41 am

One more guess……volume 1, issue 1 of the Matilda Jane newsletter.

gran - April 25, 2010 - 9:39 am

No dreams of what is coming next week. I did forget to say thank you to the person who helped with my order on Friday. I did not have access to computer and had left my order ideas at home so ended up describing the items and she found them for me. Thank you!!!!!
Maybe you are coming out with a Matilda Jane tea party set?

mom2curls - April 25, 2010 - 7:41 am

Hope that you had a great turn out yesterday at the pub!!! And again, huge thanks for all you do!!! So glad that I was able to call in two orders on Friday…Thanks again to Becca and Lynette for their wonderful customer service and patience with me on the phone!!!

Lolli - April 25, 2010 - 7:31 am

Love that Joe is coming to Birmingham. Magnificient doctors there. World reknown! Carson goes there for everything she has recieved since birth. UAB and Children’s Hospitals are top notch! You will only be about 40 mins from me. Sure wish I could help you out. Let me know if I can do anything while you are here! It would be my pleasure.
Ok…here is my guess…you are re-creating the original ballerina in HB fabrics. That has been my one wish/hope since HB came out. There are some really beautiful prints to put in one! 🙂

BeckyM - April 24, 2010 - 8:35 pm

Hi. I think you are going to have a “customer design” contest. Have all of us design a great new MJ classic!

justamommy - April 24, 2010 - 7:27 pm

You’re adopting???

K Squared Mommy - April 24, 2010 - 6:52 pm

Is it an announcement about an Online Art Fair? 🙂

gran - April 24, 2010 - 6:34 pm

Spent the past few days at the beach with girlfriends. Thanks for letting us call in orders on Friday. Look forward to updates on the Shampine family addition. My mind is spinning trying to think of what is coming next week. My guess would have been the American Girl line of clothes but it has been guessed. Maybe it will come to me in my dreams tonight.

Sundee - April 24, 2010 - 6:01 pm

Ooh, ooh! What about a contest to find your next MJ Momma models??? I just got a hair cut, and I think I am all THAT!! haha

2boysandagirl - April 24, 2010 - 3:40 pm

You are starting a new incetive program for those that buy a lot of Matilda Jane?

2boysandagirl - April 24, 2010 - 3:40 pm

You are going to give someone an opportunity to help you design some of the fall/winter line?

Mary Kay - April 24, 2010 - 12:19 pm

Your developing some kind of punch card- you know, the kind where you spend so much $$ & then after a certain amount you get something free!!! I think my card would be waaaaaaaaaay pass full! I am so hoping you will design something red, white, and blue or patriotic for the 4th of July!!! I am still thinking…..

2boysandagirl - April 24, 2010 - 11:23 am

Announcing a new location that you will be having an Art Fair at.

2boysandagirl - April 24, 2010 - 11:21 am

Maybe you will be realeasing some Summer Platinum Items

2boysandagirl - April 24, 2010 - 11:21 am

You are going to be on the Oprah Show??

Lqqkme2 - April 24, 2010 - 8:02 am

The release of a new BOYS COLLECTION??!!

FourCinapod - April 24, 2010 - 6:33 am

Early shopping for those who RSVP to 435.

Gina Altieri - April 24, 2010 - 5:44 am

ok 1 more guess.. you r making more of the raven skirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darlene Burchfield - April 23, 2010 - 9:43 pm

Loved reading the story about Joe… Maybe you will be having more than one winner for 435??? :0)

tree*head - April 23, 2010 - 9:14 pm

Hmmm…my guess is you’ll have a contest for naming a new line…

Beautifulclothing - April 23, 2010 - 8:36 pm

Are you having a reduction of inventory to make room for new MJC? That is a new word… reduction! Anyway, we can all wish. RIGHT? I still think you are designing MJ breadbox’s! Maybe, you are just sending everyone a bulletin issued regularly to MJ addicts containing news and a calendar of upcoming events, etc. Not a newsletter, but a bulletin, The Matilda Jane Monthly! The Matilda Jane Journal would be nice as well. I can’t wait to get The Matilda Jane Journal! Have a nice weekend and I am sure I will post again if I get any ideas! 😉

Holly's Mama - April 23, 2010 - 8:31 pm

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I ride my husband’s bike when he is at work and my daughter is at school. It is the greatest feeling like being 14 or even younger. I really wish I thought about having a friend ride with me to the ice cream shop without kids! That’s a great idea… I really wish I knew what the surprise is but sadly I do not. I vote for an Art Fair for West Coast moms though.

Jackie F. - April 23, 2010 - 6:04 pm

I grilled my TK, but she stayed strong….I hate the suspense!
I’m wondering if you’re going to giveaway some of your painted furniture?

Natalie - April 23, 2010 - 5:50 pm

Hey I’m all for the support group…lol

So, how about a retail store at the outlets in Las Vegas?

Annette - April 23, 2010 - 5:48 pm

fun comments…I got an idea. Maybe you are going to have babysitters available to watch all the kiddos Saturday night at the 435 art show so all the mommies can attend your party.

mimi - April 23, 2010 - 5:41 pm

Well, Oprah got her App today, why not Matilda Jane next week? Maybe all your girls are getting new phones. I think we need some more hints. ha

MeganP - April 23, 2010 - 5:22 pm

Ok my guess today is….
That you are going to pick two winners for the 435 contest. Or
That you are going to do a couple art fairs in other areas.

Ok I will be back with more guesses. Hopefully I can come up with something better. 🙂

berni - April 23, 2010 - 4:21 pm

MJC Paper Dolls! That would be SO much fun!

Sara - April 23, 2010 - 4:05 pm

One more idea….a support group for all the Matilda Jane addicts?

Stacey - April 23, 2010 - 3:35 pm

Oh, and my guesses are: underwear, bedding, stationary, a book, your starting the actual Matilda Jane Foundation, jewelry, monogramming, doll clothing, ummm running out of ideas..LOL

Stacey - April 23, 2010 - 2:57 pm

I tried to call several times but did not get an answer and the voicemail was full. I know you guys were very busy today so I emailed my order. Still waiting to hear back. I hope you raised a TON of $$ today!

mimi - April 23, 2010 - 2:30 pm

We placed our order today. Thanks for doing this, Denise. Our niece is waiting for their call to go get their little girl. She is going to Korea, so we know the cost is unbelievable on any young family. Plus, we got some great items.

Natalie - April 23, 2010 - 2:13 pm

I guess I was 10 minutes too late to order for Joe and Christy?!?! I just called only to hear the answering message… Dang it. Is there any chance to still order for this good cause?

rebel - April 23, 2010 - 12:39 pm

“A whole new word”… makes me sing “A Whole New World” from Aladdin… which makes me think that you have designed a new line of rugs??? magic carpets??? : )

I was thinking pregnant also… but others have guessed that! That would be very cool news…

Your beautiful clothing has been selected for a boutique/store… they have “wooed you” and you will finally give in? You are opening up a MJ store????

All guessed out! : )

Sundee - April 23, 2010 - 12:19 pm

You’ll be going somewhere else for Art Fair this year?? Minneapolis’ Uptown Art Fair, perhaps? I know you were there once before, and I would LOVE it if you were here!! I could host a party at MY house!!!! 🙂 My other guess is you are pregnant. I have read you alluding to the fact of wanting more…

tree*head - April 23, 2010 - 11:47 am

OK so I do not have a clever guess – my mind is blank.
BUT I could read Joe’s story over and over again. Gives me more inspiration and hope for my Ana – she’s almost running – almost! :)…Joe’s his legs remind me of Brae’s..all of those lil’ bruises… and his expression is EXACTLY like Brae’s when the Wii, TV AND computer are off limits…

TKJT - April 23, 2010 - 11:15 am

A layette line? Not sure if it’s been guessed. How about quilts/blankets…like those ones you gave away (trying not to be jealous LOL). You need to make matching doll/american girl clothes …didn’t your mom? make some to match before? I remember I wanted to win that contest too LOL My girls LOVE their babies 🙂 Your baby is too sweet too and hearing about how he takes off his glove to throw …WHAT an amazing boy you have! I need to tell my son this when he’s complaining to me about not wanting to catch. 😉

tina - April 23, 2010 - 11:14 am

Have you had experience with UAB or the Birmingham area before? Very close to us and it is a great facility and a great city. Hope it is a wonderful therapy for him!

Katie - April 23, 2010 - 11:03 am

I’m a peds OT and such a fan of constraint induced movement therapy. If you are ever looking for someone who does it closer to home, email me and I can give you a name here in Indy. GOOD LUCK!

kristin m. - April 23, 2010 - 11:01 am

if it’s not a sale, but it’s a whole new word…how about a CLEARANCE!!!

kristin m. - April 23, 2010 - 10:18 am

you are starting a clothing line for cats???!!!

paula m - April 23, 2010 - 10:00 am

Oh my goodness, my son did the CIT therapy program in Birmingham as well!! We had amazing results with his right hand…..Good luck to sweet Joe. Our kids never cease to amaze us with their resilience despite challenges….

Aurora Arceo - April 23, 2010 - 9:15 am

BIKES,summer,and The art fair!

Cariann - April 23, 2010 - 9:10 am

Btw, your boys are beautiful!!

FourCinapod - April 23, 2010 - 8:28 am

Baby on Board:)

DKW - April 23, 2010 - 7:46 am

You’re going to enhance your website so we can shop by size (and I don’t have to get my hopes up when I see something super cute, click on it, and “OH NO” it’s only available in a size 2)?

DKW - April 23, 2010 - 7:31 am

You’re going to start twittering?!

DKW - April 23, 2010 - 7:26 am

Or, someone famous (like Oprah or Michelle O’Bama or George Clooney (okay, that IS just wishful thinking on my part)) is going to be at the art fair.

mom2curls - April 23, 2010 - 7:05 am

Just placed my order!!! Thank you Becca for the awesome customer service!!! And many thanks to you Denise for your thoughfulness in putting together this fundraiser!!!

DKW - April 23, 2010 - 6:51 am

Or, you could be e-mailing us all a coupon that has a discount – some would be 10%, some 20%, etc. (Wait, is that too much like a sale?!) Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

DKW - April 23, 2010 - 6:50 am

I’m thinking it is some sort of contest for use to nominate our favorite trunk keeper and the winning TK will get some super fabulous prize like a trip to the art fair.

shevaun - April 23, 2010 - 6:24 am

shoes?? mjc bicycles?:0

Tina M - April 23, 2010 - 5:55 am

That is awesome that Joe Is doing so well at Baseball! I swear you can see the that boy’s soul when you look into his eyes!!! I LOVE that pic of him!!! :0)
hmmm…a surprise…& it’s NOT a sale, summerline OR a new baby?? Is someone getting married? A giveaway of some sort? Something cool for 435?? Sneak peeks at fall? Am I allowed to take that many guesses? lol

JodiR - April 23, 2010 - 5:50 am

Matilda Jane is doing bathing suits?

Megan Neer - April 23, 2010 - 5:49 am

I love the bruises all over his shins! That is a sign of a true boy! My boys legs are covered in black and blue spots all Spring and Summer long! Good luck with the sale this weekend!

JodiR - April 23, 2010 - 5:47 am

You are doing a summer line? You are going to be featured on television or in a magazine? You are designing something for someone famous?

dot+3 - April 23, 2010 - 4:55 am

Sounds like spring has sprung… Baseball, bike rides, ice cream… So glad you guys are coming to UAB. It really is a world class facility! And lots of sweet girls rockin the MJ in Birmingham!

Katie M. - April 22, 2010 - 11:47 pm

Oh- thanks for the reminder about calling in tomorrow- is there a time frame to do it- want to be sure I dont call too late from here on the west coast! Joe has to be the sweetest and most adaptable child I have come across! If we happen to win the trip out there for 435 – I would love to bring Myles so they can hang out and maybe toss the ball around- how fun would that be! Thanks for all the blogs lately- love seeing all the photos and hearing the news

Emma and Lily and Amitha :0) - April 22, 2010 - 10:58 pm

I love the look you captured on Joe’s face. I see it a lot..I wonder if it the age? Emma is “bored” too. Lily on the other hand can play by herself for hours and hours…
How about Gabe?

Monika - April 22, 2010 - 10:28 pm

I love that Joe!!! That’s all I have to say =)!

Joann E - April 22, 2010 - 10:00 pm

Fundraiser for a great cause close to your heart? 🙂

Sallie - April 22, 2010 - 9:57 pm

How about clothing for American Girl dolls? I would say a boys line, but that wouldn’t be new. Hmmm, still thinking.

Sallie - April 22, 2010 - 9:55 pm

Thanks for posting my little guy’s picture. He was so fascinated with his buggy his sister gave him. And then sure enough, it started to fly away. Joe has some big guts in there. That’s a tough thing to be a catcher and it’s awesome that he is already mastering it. My guess is you will be going organic. I don’t know it was fitting for Earth day.

cristy - April 22, 2010 - 9:48 pm

Bedding. I called it. What do I win:)

I better be right…because I seriously need some bedding for Peyton’s bed.

Skye River & Sienna's mommy - April 22, 2010 - 9:47 pm

You are going to launch a line of DOLL CLOTHES to match the kids clothes???????????
omg- are you talking about my little boy- i limit his TV/Wii but I swear if I let him he would be doing one or the other all dang day!
Have a fab weekend- hope the sale is amazing, amazed at your kind heart helping them to get the biggest gift of all…a baby to love…awesome

mimi - April 22, 2010 - 9:43 pm

Maybe trunk keeper, knot dress, or maybe, Matilda Jane is going to be one of the new words that Webster adds to the dictionary. Something to do with a new word, or new name???

Beautifulclothing - April 22, 2010 - 9:39 pm

You are designing a Matilda Jane breadbox!

Beautifulclothing - April 22, 2010 - 9:28 pm

Are you going to adopt a little girl and name her Matilda Jane. How sweet Denise! I am not sure if you would have another baby? Would you? A Matilda Jane home line would be cute. I love the Liberty of London collection at Target and think you could do that as well and make a fortune. I would buy for sure. Whatever it may be the anticipation is rising each and every time i visit your blog which is multiplying each day.

Kendall Lilly's Mama - April 22, 2010 - 9:15 pm

Wow – what an amazing lil’ guy Joe is. You should be so proud of his strength, perseverance, and abilities – it takes an amazing kid (and family) to achieve what he has! Oh, and I just bought a bike the other day, can’t wait to take it for a spin this weekend!

Heather - April 22, 2010 - 9:09 pm

Your coming out with a sweet line of handbags or a funky SLR camera case!

Melanie H. - April 22, 2010 - 9:06 pm

Love your sweet Joe! I think it must be something about the age, but I cannot get a great photo of Jack now either…he’s always making a weird face or moving or both. But I love the bruised shins in Joe’s picture, to me those are the marks of a happy, active boy! Best to you~

Emma's*Mommy - April 22, 2010 - 9:02 pm

OK…so again, I really suck at this…but how about “Extravaganza”?…it’s a “whole new word”…not sale, or contest, or fiesta…I don’t know.

As for Joe, I am one of the ones who did not know the many wonders of Joe. Now that I do, I just think you are even more awesome than I did before…and Joe too for that matter. You just really have your act together…I know you joke about how you don’t…but really…YOU DO! And for your brave one…wow…he IS and he probably doesn’t even realize it, which makes it even better. BTW I live pretty close to UAB…small world, huh?

mimi - April 22, 2010 - 8:41 pm

Oh Denise, it made my day to get on your site tonight, and see Mimi’s girls washing dishes in their MJ aprons. What fun we have together in Mimi’s kitchen. My mother always made my sister and me aprons to match hers, that’s why I had to have these. Brought back a sweet memory for me.

Holly's Mama - April 22, 2010 - 8:25 pm

Love to see all the pics of the kids wearing Matilda Jane!

Jackie F. - April 22, 2010 - 8:24 pm

You’re planning a carnival for the kids.

*Twinkle*Toes* - April 22, 2010 - 8:05 pm

Your pregnant??? with Matilda Jane???
