Vote for Sara!!!

Hey Everyone!

Wow — what a crazy, amazing, wonderful Art Fair weekend it has been! We are all back in the office and cannot believe it is already over; who’s ready for next year!? 😉 Be on the lookout for an Art Fair blog post this week but first, I have to let you all know about Sara. I’ve been chatting with her for about a month now and she has got some pretty exciting things going on! She is going to be a Matilda Jane Trunk Keeper in the fall (which is totally awesome), but what I am here to tell you all about is that she has entered a contest to win a spot at the Ironman Kona Triathlon in Hawaii (that’s a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run – crazy, I know!). She found out in June that her contest entry video made it to the 2nd round, and is now in a group of 15 entrants where 2 winners will be chosen – pretty good odds, I think!

We can all agree that she is so completely brave and daring for doing something like this! Naturally, I asked her to tell me more about herself! Sara replied by saying, “I have 4 children between the ages of 9 and 3. In April, I ran my 15th marathon. It was a lifelong goal of mine to run the Boston Marathon. I qualified for Boston in 1997 in the first marathon that I ran (Detroit Marathon) but I did not go to Boston because I was still in college. After 1997, I tried several attempts to qualify for Boston but didn’t make the time qualification. After having 4 kids, I decided to try to qualify for Boston again. We were living overseas at the time and I entered the Berlin Marathon and finally qualified for Boston again! As I was sitting down to plan my personal goals for 2013, I decided that I wanted to take the marathon to a whole new level and try an IronmanTriathlon. I am entered to compete in the Louisville Ironman at the end of August. I also convinced my husband that it would be a great idea to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary by competing in a half-ironman together here in Michigan. (in my contest video, I talk about competing in a race with my husband). The Ironman Kona is very similar to the Boston Marathon in the sense that you primarily have to qualify for a spot to compete.  However some charity spots and other spots (like this contest) are given out.  I saw the contest information before I actually participated in the Boston Marathon 2013  and even jotted down some ideas and thoughts for my video but after what happened in Boston – I decided to make this video reflecting upon what happened that day and where my life is going.”

So, lets PLEASE gather around this awesome woman and vote for her video!! It’s so simple! Just follow this link: http://bit.ly/1cxEfeu and then click on the “vote for this” button on the bottom of the video. How cool would it be to have a Matilda Jane TK in the Ironman Kona Triathlon?! Voting ends on July 8 at midnight and Sara will find out the results on July 9! Fingers crossed!!

SOOO many “thank you’s” in advance from Sara and I!
