Perfect day to be home. It is the start of the Amazing Race and we all know how much I love that show.
Gabe has not stopped talking since I walked in the door. He is beyond hilarious. And those dance moves. I think he’s been practicing the full 2 weeks I was gone. David and Joe will be home next weekend which is a good thing cuz gabe keeps asking about some stuffed animal Joe got him. He is just not sure what he is going to name it. Sad thing is, I have no clue, nor David or Joe, as to what he is talking about.
As for Joe? I really can’t describe it. He is doing things he has never ever done. His right hand has always just been a “helper hand”. He barely ever, actually if I think back on it, he never used his fingers. And holding a glass of water or turning a door knob impossible. He has no supination (he cannot turn his hand, think about turning your hand to get change at the checkout) at all.
Flash forward to today. He is eatting with a fork, playing connect 4 and eatting finger foods. And I assure you he will be holding a glass by Christmas. I think this may take bit longer for he has a lot of strength to build. Holding a small softcover book is heavy for Joe. But he can totally do it. It will be quite the toast, huh?

Indeed!! Go, Joe! Glad your family is reunited at last!
Great news about Joe, sounds like the results have been amazing so far. So happy you are back home with Gabe, I bet he missed you as much as you missed him.

I know that Gabe is ecstatic to have you home! That is incredible improvement for Joe! I know that this will help him so much and the more confidence he gets doing it, the better he will get. I know that it is difficult for you to see him struggling so hard, but the results will be awesome! Your family is amazing and I know that you are one proud mama, and have every right to be! BTW is that a new Mighty Acorn Tee? Heinz would love that one!

What a wonderful blog about Joe’s progress. Please let him know we are all cheering him along!!!! And, I think maybe he and David need to shop just a little on their way home for that stuffed animal. The photo of intern Gabe on facebook would melt any heart. I know that you already know how blessed you are by those boys and thank you for sharing these moments with others.
