I don’t think I have ever sat in front of the computer for so long..(ya, I am sure you know the feeling). While you are all patiently waiting for the system to slow down I am trying to get the Fall 2010 “Field Trip” catalog done. I think I am on hour 12 and if I have to make one more change, I may freak. Anyhow, so I am working on the catalog and I come across this photo. I so wish I could just step into it right now and bring you all with me!
Everything gets so crazy sometimes. It seems no matter how bad you want something to work, it just doesn’t. I totally get the whole thing, we have been waiting for the sale to happen to. Trust me, we have Fall shipment to put away and we can’t until we get rid of all the inventory upstairs. There are somethings that are just out of one’s control. And I am not sure what it is, but maybe it is the curse of the MJC sale! It brings out the (can’t think of a word) in many of us. David is beside himself and ready to just turn it off, he has a hard time handling all the disappointment. Me? I have learned to see things in a different manner. I know there are things you can control and things you can’t. This I cannot control and stressing over it is not gonna make it better. Despite our new dedicated server, MJC has once again surpassed the Oprah Effect. People always say how great it would be to be on Oprah. Personally, I don’t think they know the stress that can go along with it. I am focusing on getting everything lined up at the office so as soon as thing slow down the girls can get your orders out ASAP.

Can we see more fall?
I love the pic! So appropriate right now 😉 People need to keep in mind that it is just clothes. (Adorable, sweet, wonderful clothes, but clothes nonetheless). It is not the end of the world, or of MJC, if someone misses out on a dress. You guys will continue to make gorgeous things for girls and the fall line is right around the corner… I figure I’ll check later tonight and if what I want is gone, I’ll take it as a sign that I should save my money for the fall
I’m just waiting until everyone on the mainland goes to bed and then I’ll have it all to myself – ha ha! And yes, over on FB it is seeming to bring out some nasty reactions from people…it’s not like you can do anything about it. Thanks for the sale and can’t wait to snag some things!!
Thanks Denise for taking the edge off!! Love the photo.
Beautiful photo. Beautiful cover girl. Just wish you would shut it down if it’s not working. We are all wasting a lot of VALUABLE time too.
Beautiful picture!! I love your clothing!! I recently inquired about hosting a show and am just wondering when I might get some feedback? Thanks!!!!
Thank you for sharing! It did help to relax…. Oh! so cute…..
for every person that complains, remember there are many more who really appreciate everything you & MJC crew do for us! fortunately, my order did go through. i had to wait quite some time, but i expected that going into it. it really was well worth the wait! people have to remember that this isn’t the last of MJC, the fall line is right around the corner. . . can’t wait!!! and many more lines will follow! by the way, i’m hoping the clothes that Katherine is wearing is from the fall line. . . i’m loving them!!!
The Dalai Lama says: that if there is something you can do about a terrible situation, “no need to worry” and if there is nothing you can do about this terrible situation, “no need to worry”. I like this approach. Thanks for all that you do~
Tonya, I could not have said it better myself!
Thank you Denise and everyone at MJC, for working so hard for us…the sale, the fall line, all of it!
Denise,
I just want to send you a great big hug right now…..oh and how about nice big slice of cake….that takes my edge off, lol. I still have not gotten anything, but I know that it is not your fault. I know that y’all tried so hard so I hate to know how stressed MJC is right now…..and I hate reading all of the negative things that people have written…..you were being awesome giving what was requested by us so many times and you know what things are not always perfect, but that is life! Anyways many HUGS sent to MJC from me and my girls who love their MJC. I am hoping to get some new MJC to wear on the 1st day of school….:)
I was just on Facebook and saw all the nasty comments people were making. It made me so sad to see how ugly people were being. I know that I am not the only one that realizes how great you were to put these items through on an online sale as opposed to doing a “yard sale” in your area. You are not Target so this requires more work on your part. So thank you all the way from Tennessee for going through all the stress and crap for customers like myself who would otherwise not get to shop for MJ at these great prices.
Thank you Denise, David and the whole MJ crew for the sale!!! Sorry for all the junk you guys have had to go through…and all the negativity of Facebook! Just know you are appreciated and loved!!!! And please don’t stop doing the sales. 😉
Love this pic Denise!! Thanks again for the sale….really great even though frustrating at times!! Can’t wait for Fall….anymore sneak peaks??? Maybe some of the frustrated shoppers need to go outside and try this pose and get in touch with what is really important……hope you have a great rest of the summer!!
Denise, you seem to be one of the nicest people ever. Good luck and keep up the good work. We love your clothing and nothing will change that.
I am so in LOVE with the Fall Field Trip!!!! I love the “hippieness” of it–I can’t wait for August 6th, and my show on Sept. 1st! I’m wish people weren’t so negative on FB or the blog. No worries–we really appreciate that you even offered us a sale!
You gals (and guy) are UNBELIEVABLE!!! Thank you for the amazing opportunity to get MJ at such a deal. Your company truly makes me smile when I see it, wear it and share it. And I love to see all of the support you get from all of your die hard fans. I just pray that this frustration doesn’t lead you to a career change.
Keep it up and thanks again. You are truly an unreal group at 435. Mwah!!
I wasn’t able to get in in time to order what I wanted in the sizes I wanted… I see it this way – it’s money saved that I’ll be able to put towards the new fall line! So whether it’s today or August MJC will still get my $$$$!! Can’t wait to see what’s comin’!
Thank you so much for having the sale. I loved getting my daughter more MJC. It makes her so happy to wear it everyday, which makes me a happy Mommy. I also came across this quote today and thought it was very fitting…“Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.” So the server wasn’t perfect at first, but now it’s better than before
Thanks again.
Thank you all so much for your hard work. I’m sure today has been crazy for you. I’m extremely happy with my purchases. I was able to get the dress for my daughter that I’ve wanted since I first heard about MJC 5 months ago. You all are wonderful!!!
Bri
You are such a cool person, Denise! I feel for you all trying to keep up with it all…exciting and stressful all wrapped in to one. You have such a great perspective though — just hope we don’t give your husband a heart attack!! I do believe in karma…I’ve been a good girl and was able to smoothly get in, do my shopping, and checkout. Got everything we were wishing for! So run…go tell David things are looking up!! Thanks for all you hard work and the wonderful clothes and experience of MJC;).
Thank you for this wonderful sale! Patience is a virtue and it definitely paid off in the end! I feel bad that some people turned your generosity into such negativity. Thank you for providing us with wonderful clothes…whether or not it took 30 minutes or 30 hours to get them – totally worth it in my book!
I was thinking good karma the whole time I was ordering….and was able to order two times without any troubles soon after the sale started! Thanks for the sale and cheap shipping! Love, love, love the clothes…..and always remember you can only do what you can do!
Thank you for all you do and ignore the negativity. You all are great, caring folks and there is so much love that goes into each collection. I hope every positive, patient person got the pieces they desired so you have the right representation wearing MJ. You all ROCK, don’t ever forget it!
LOVE the pic and I am totally feeling the karma! My bohemian chic 6 yr old will LOVE this line sans the ruffles- unfortunately she says she is too old for them
Nice post Denise. I’m sure most EVERYBODY has calmed down now that they’ve got their orders in, etc. And, despite what some people may say, we’ll all be busting down the door to get our hands on the fall line (as it appears to be wonderful from the few sneaks!).
I can only imagine how crazy things were today… love the pic – ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! Bri was looking over my shoulder tonight flipping out at that top
Denise… I hope you didn’t let even one negative comment get to you, all those people should feel stupid and ashamed…. anyone who is a business owner (we are) definitely can relate, I am thankful for all of you at Matilda Jane… keep up the great work and we just adore your clothes:0) Love the sneak peak picture! I want that outfit!lol… Darlene
sweetie, it’s all okay now. don’t worry! yes it was frustrating for all (i just couldn’t figure out if it was my machine or the website!) i frantically emailed my tk and she said keep trying- and i did. the fact that we all kept trying shows the love felt for mj.
thank you for your dedication to creating such beautiful clothing for our sweet little ones. the day is well over…and rest. blessings to you all. xox
No worries….I’ve learned to just go with the MJC flow. I was able to place enough orders today to make my day. THANKS!
Denise….just keep working on that catalog! I love what I’ve seen so far = Hippie/Boehemian/Funkified/Sassy/Spunky and YUMMY CLOTHES!
No matter the issues, I am still a HUGE fan & always will be! Bring on FALL!,,
Love that picture!!! The talent that you have is just AMAZING!!! I am so proud to dress my little girl in your clothing! The compliments are endless everytime she steps out the door wearing her MJC! And as far as time goes, 5 hours was NOTHING for me, I could have gone for another 10!!! Patience is a virtue!!!
I was just so happy for the sale and sorry there were so many negative vibes out there. I hope both you and David(and everyone at mjc)know most of us are just sending thanks and love and appreciate all your hard work to make sales happen!
Denise- Thank you for announcing the time of the sale even though that inevitably brings more traffic. I was eventually able to get nearly everything on my list. I didn’t have to leave my home, commute in traffic, fight a crowded store etc so waiting online reallly wasn’t so bad, and I got some beautiful things. Thank you
Thanks for the sale!! It worked great today when I placed my…..3 order!!
Love it all! I would so love to step into that picture as well! Like a going on a little…”Field Trip”.
Yesterday was the first time i ordered on the sale and I thought it was kind of fun, the challenge of it all. I never got frustrated or upset and got everything i wanted in the end. I LOVE MJ and can’t wait to get it in the mail. Thank you for all you do! It is very appreciated by so many!
Just now reading the blog for the last few days and I so agree with you- some things are worth stressing about – like your childs wellbeing – and other things are not- especially things that you cant change and just have to work themselves out. Its taken me a long time to realize that – but its so worth it. Things get frustrating for sure- but in the end – its not worth getting stressed out about. Thank you for the sale and letting us all have a shot at getting things we wanted for a good price – I for one think it was worth all the hours sitting here waiting for the order to go thru! HUGS and thanks
Love this pic Denise! I am thinking I will love fall! I didn’t get in on the sale a few things in my cart but I’m trying very hard to not obsess over clothes with 5 kids I just can’t afford to do it right now.
love love love the boho, missoni-ish, hippie chick. Straight up my alley. This would qualify as “good kharma”:) Can’t wait to see what you came up with this season.

i’m glad you posted this. i’m glad you have the attitude you do about it…you are right. i left an encouraging word on the facebook page, then got sucked into reading so many nasty comments. i love MJC, but all i could think of was that there are 30,000 children who die from preventable causes EVERY SINGLE DAY and people are mad they can’t fill their carts with more clothes?!? don’t get me wrong, we enjoy nice clothes, too, but honesty? can’t we all just love a little better?
thanks for all you do, denise…..i’m especially excited about the foundation. so awesome. i’m off to e-mail you a pic now….
