Introducing:

Kait Galto of Yorkville, IL

Most Valued Form of Character:

Quality

Q:  Please tell us a bit about yourself.  Where are you from and where are you now?

A:  I was born and raised in Saint Charles, Illinois.  I now reside about 30 minutes south of my home town in Yorkville, Illinois.  I love this area and it’s quickly growing, yet I yearn for that rural setting.  We would love an old farmhouse with a big shop for my husband and his mastiff, Heidi.  One of these days we hope to get that forever home to raise our children in.

Q:  How did you meet and fall in love with your husband?

A:  I have always been one to go after something I wanted.  My husband, Joe and I met in 2004 while I was working for a law firm downtown Geneva, Illinois.  Joe is an ironworker and was helping on a job where they were adding an addition to the building I worked in.  He will say it was the first day on the job, but I think it was a few days in… With some encouragement from a co-worker, I typed up a note saying “You should call me ….”  I held it at the window and the rest is history!

Q:  What about those gorgeous babies???  Tell us all about them.

A:  I have always known I wanted to be a mother.  Right after we got married in December 2009, we were ready to start a family.  God had other plans and it didn’t come so easily.  I spent months trying different medications to help my body prepare for a pregnancy, but nothing worked.  Right when we were ready to take a break, and I felt as if all hope was lost… my amazing doctor, Dr. Jane Nani and her staff, (especially Nurse Sally Ann) helped bless us with a twin pregnancy.  Joseph and Giada joined us on December 15th last year.  These two have turned my life upside down and everyday show me just how great of a job being a mom is.  They are 9 months old now and wow are they getting into everything already!

Q:  What did you do in your previous life?  Pre-Matilda Jane?

A:  I feel as though I eat, sleep, and talk all Matilda Jane now.  So asking me what life was like before Matilda Jane is hard to answer.  Besides becoming a mom, I am a photographer also.  I love to capture memories which people will cherish a lifetime!

Q: What is your Matilda Jane story?  What made you become a Trunk Keeper?

A:  I have always enjoyed viewing other photographer’s work, and I had come upon Skye Johansen’s Blog.  It was easy to fall in love with the many cute clothes her daughter and clients wore.  I quickly found out it was the ever so adorable Matilda Jane Clothing lines.

Q:  Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall.  What is your favorite and why?

A:  As much as I love a big snow fall which keeps you inside, fall has got to be my all time favorite!  I love visiting the apple orchards, searching the fields for the perfect pumpkin, and seeing all of the trick-or-treaters.  I also can’t resist a walk in the cool breeze while wearing my new favorite finns and berry sweater.

Q:  Who are some of your heroes?

A:  Two people come to my mind immediately, my parents.  No matter how many mistakes I’ve made, they are always there to show their love and support.

Q:  Describe to us what a night out with your girlfriends looks like?

A:  Having two 9 month old babies doesn’t allow for many nights out anymore, but it has introduced me to some of the coolest multi mama’s I know.  I joined a multiples club and we get together once a month for an Italian dinner, wine and tons of crazy stories.  It’s such a nice treat to my busy days that go so fast.

Q:  Tell us about your first job.   How old were you?

A:  I babysat long before I could drive.  I want to say I was about 13 or 14 when I would “nanny” for a local neighborhood family.  I even got to go to Florida with them for a family trip and to help out with their two daughters.

Q:  What store makes your heart go pitter-patter when you shop in it?

A:  It’s not so much 1 shop, but more 1 location, The Elkhorn Flea Market in Wisconsin.  The early morning hustle and long car ride there is well worth it once you find all of the great deals on such unique antiques.

Q:  What is your most treasured modern day convenience?

A:  My Tahoe. I am a go go go kind of girl.  I always have places to be and things to see.  I couldn’t imagine not having my big suv to always get me there with my double stroller and twins in tow.

Q:  Give me 5 adjectives that describe the person you strive to be.

A:  I guess you could say I’m independent, because as you can see, even being a mom of twins doesn’t stop me from going back to work.  I want to be able to help provide for my family and see that we are able to do all of the fun things we want as the kids grow.  I also strive to be nurturing, I try to spend as much time as I can giving me kids all the love that I can.  Another two would be energetic and confident.  If you’ve met me you won’t forget me, or at least I sure hope not!  And last but not least, passionate, I go after everything with my whole heart and couldn’t imagine living any other way.

Q:  If you could pick up your family and move to any where in the world, where would you go and why?

A:  Estes Park, Colorado.  I went there for a girl’s trip with my mom and older sister and fell instantly in love.  I dragged my husband back there for our 1 year anniversary.  He fell in love with it too!  The views are breathtaking, the elk, which are spread all over the town and mountains are interesting to watch, and the atmosphere makes you feel right at home.

Q:  Great customer service is definitely a “lost art.”  How do you try to deliver above and beyond service to your Janes and customers?

A:  I make sure my customers know I am always available.  I may be a mom and wife but I am also a Trunk Keeper.  It’s nice for them to know I can be easily contacted with any questions, (or the hottest new ruffles) arise.  I also really love to find my customers that one sold out item which they thought was gone for good!

Q:  Favorite film of all time.

A:  Believe it or not, I have always loved Urban Cowboy.  The country songs and cowboy boots get me every time.

(Oh Kait, you have no idea the kinship I felt when I read this was your favorite movie.  John Travolta also has a special place in my heart.  ;-))

Q:  In your opinion, what is THE must have piece in Heart~Soul~Pride?

A:  The London Leggings have got to be one of my favorite pieces.  I have always been a leggings girl, they go under almost anything.  These add such a fun little spin on the plain old leggings with the sassy ruffles on the bottom.  I can dress them down with ballet flats or dress them up with some heels.  I really love them under the Ava dress with the Midnight shirt.  Can was say ADORABLE!!

Q:  Lastly, in the spirit of Heart~Soul~Pride, what in your opinion is the most important form of character?

A:  Quality, having a sense of that brings such wholeness to my heart.  It makes me smile with pride.  And heck, a smile is so contagious; I always try to have one on my face!
