Well, today my amazing boss felt it was time for my first blog post, and also a good opportunity to introduce myself.

Hello everyone! My name is Melissa and I am the new Platinum girl!

3 weeks ago my dreams came true when Denise and the other Platinum girls welcomed me aboard. It has been such a blessing and I could not be happierSo far I have been doing lots of layering (hopefully going to start cutting soon!), pulling, packing, and shipping, and just assisting the girls with anything they need. Everyone has been so great and I can’t wait to see what my future at MJC holds.

I am from Fort Wayne and just graduated from Purdue (BOILER UP!) where I studied Apparel Design. Oh college, how I miss you, this real world thing has turned my life upside down. What I miss most are the fellow Boilermakers, whenever I wear Purdue gear I get more negative comments than good! Come on people, this is normal….I never thought I would say this but I honestly miss class! Nothing is like late nights in the sewing lab drafting, cutting, and sewing just to get up early the next day to do it all over again.  I love Purdue, and miss it dearly, but it is also great to be home and to be constantly surround by family.  My family is pretty giant, and to get to see them on a more consistent basis has been the best change of all.

Since I have been back I have done so many Fort Wayne things to make up for lost time. I attended my first Tin Caps game, a couple visits to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, and most importantly Johnny Appleseed Festival. I have yet to get some Coney Island, but that is definitely on the list. But my favorite thing to do on the weekends is antiquing. My entire family is just a bunch of old stuff junkies, it’s unreal. A few years back I started collecting vintage accessories and I can’t wait to start sharing my finds with all of you!
