PHOTO LOVE
We’re going to do it a little different this year. It’s going to be split into 3 rounds so let’s get the ball rolling tonight till Jan 13.
Round ONE- Initiation, December 19- January 13
Matilda Jane has a gorgeous new website launching pretty soon and it is about time we update our Photographer link. We will be accepting submissions starting tonight through Jan 13.
Send one photo size 520×640 (520 is the width) to [email protected]. The subject line must include your state and name you do business under, example Utah Little Bundles. Your email must also include your full address and size of dress you would like if you are selected for Round Two. This is the only qualification necessary for Round ONE- Initiation. If any of the above is missing, your submission will not be accepted.
If you are selected to be on our list, we do require you to also link Matilda Jane on your blog or website.
Round TWO- Photo Love, January 20-February 5
Matilda Jane will choose 50 photographers to send an outfit to photograph in any manner they choose.
We will send you an outfit in the size stated in your original email. You will have until February 5 to photograph the outfit. Please email the same photo in a high resolution (any size) file, and a file 520 width x 640 to [email protected] by Feb 5.
The home office will narrow it down to 10 photographers. We will base our decision on design and execution as well as the ability to tell a story and spark an emotion in the judges. The top 10 will all receive a $250 gift card to Matilda Jane.
Round Three- The Final Three, mid February
We will post our Top 10 on the Matilda Jane website in Feb (date to be announced) for the public to vote. The top Three will be chosen by the public and the home office will pick the Finalist.
The Final One- This very talented gal or guy will receive an all expense trip for 2 to the location of our Fall 2011 PhotoShoot in May.

The photo can be of anything you would like. Whatever you are proud of and feel like it represents your work. However, submitting a photo of a girl/boy in MJC does improve your chances on us using your pic.

Clarification: the sizing of the photo seems odd to me 520×640. Does the width only have to be 520 or the photo MUST be a 520×640. My current crop doesn’t give me that ratio – for some reason this is confusing to me…however, I totally could be reading it wrong.
Yes, if for any reason we use it on the site, it needs to be 520×640. The best bet is for you to crop to that size, if not chances are we will have to re-size it (if we need to use it ) and it may change the way you wish the photo to look.

when i size my photo to 520 x 640 it is all distorted looking…when i enter 520 for the width and constrain proportions in photo shop so the photo looks normal, the height is 780. any thoughts? i do not want to send a photo looking all crazy but i want to enter. please help!!!
