ONE EGG CAKE – My grandmother, Irene, was 102 when she passed last spring, and she loved to bake with us until she lost her vision. She had an old wobbly, wooden stool with fold down steps that my sister and I would climb up on (and my cousins, too, but usually it was just my sister and me) and bake while we waited for Days of Our Lives, her soap, to come on tv. lol. Our FAVORITE thing to bake was the One Egg Cake. As far as I know it’s a recipe that was developed during the depression when it was hard to come by extra ingredients. Regardless, it’s the most delicious cake (and batter) I’ve ever tasted! I’ve looked far and wide for a stool like the one my grandmother had for my daughter to enjoy. I would LOVE to give her a dress named after our special cake (and I’m sure many others!)
I just had a baby girl a week ago and named her Fable. I suggest the name for this dress be “Sweet Fable” or “Fabes”, or even just “Fable”… Fables are sweet stories that end with happy endings. This dress reminds me of that- when cooking, you always have a happy result at the end while enjoying your creation! <3
