Name the Dress Thursday: Edition 4

I can’t believe it’s that time again…it’s the 4TH Name the Dress Thursday!

This week for Name the Dress we are spreading some Christmas cheer! This little darling has some great potential…I can’t wait to hear your ideas on what to name this adorable festive knot dress:)

Knot Dress sizes: 18m, 2, 4, and 6

Leave us a comment with your suggestion of the perfect name for this dress, and we’ll choose a winner and announce it here on the blog tomorrow! If your name is chosen, we’ll send you this dress in the size of your choice (sizes listed above)! I can’t wait to hear all of your suggestions!

Happy naming

<3 Melissa

*One little house-keeping note: since there are so many people leaving comments, there is always the chance that more than one person may suggest the same name. If we choose a name that has been suggested by more than one person, we will only be able to select the first person to suggest the name as the winner. But never fear! There will be sooo many more contests and chances for winning, so don’t give up!*

I am going with a winter name NEVE

It refers to the snowy part of a glacier.

Jennifer Valsted - October 18, 2012 - 4:21 pm

I suggest naming this week’s dress “Up On the Rooftop”.

Janelle - October 18, 2012 - 4:23 pm

Dawn - October 18, 2012 - 4:25 pm

This dress is amazing. I think it is the cutest that you have made so far. You could call it a variety of different names such as:
Sleigh Ride,
Deer Valley which I like because it is a popular snow mountain and resort.
I love this!

Clarice. She was Ruldolph’s sweet little girlfriend. She would be the reindeer version of a Matilda Jane girl sweet, but spunky enough to go against the crowd to see the inner beauty in someone.

The “Leroy Anderson”, who is the original composer of “sleigh ride”, one of the most beloved carols written and composed. The song is simple, about two people who want to go on a sleigh ride together….what can be better? Funny thing, the song was dreamed up in the middle of July…..

This one is a little special to me, one I saw it I remembered my Daniela. She was born prematurelly due to severe pre eclampsia and HELLP syndrome. At age 2 she had a 1 year speech delay and the first sounds she started repeating were the animal sounds. Sometimes she goes outside and pretends to talk with the wild bunnies. So long story short:

Yes, Virginia – Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

I hope I’m not too late! :) I think this encompasses the spirit of Christmas and MJ <3

Nica’s Dream–refers to Kathleen Annie Pannonica Rothschild, who was very wealthy and became a friend and patron of many famous jazz musicians. She helped them out financially and provided housing, etc to get their careers going. She became a bridge between two very different cultures. Christmas is also a bridge between different cultures and bring us together, much like Nica did in the early 20th century.

Tiffany McDaniel - October 18, 2012 - 9:38 pm

I would definitely name this little beauty “A Thousand Memories” because that’s what it brings flooding back to me! The sweet innocence of the fabric, snow, the smoke in the chimney. It’s happy and peaceful and full of Christmas and makes me yearn for those magical Christmas days as a child. AND brings a lot of excitement for the season to come, where I can once again live the magic through the eyes of my girls.

This beauty looks to me like “over the river and through the woods”, but it’s a bit quirkier than that. So cute with polka dots and ric rac! What’s more quirky than the featured song on National Lampoon’s Vacation? (It’s just not the holidays without watching the Christmas one.)

***Side note: Just found out it was written and recorded by Fleetwood Mac’s guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. Love when Bill Hader plays him on the SNL sketch “What Up With That”! Another reason it would bring a smile to my face!

Holly Belle – Beautiful Holly
Stella Belle – Beautiful Star
Virginia Belle (or Jinny Belle) – Virginia was the first child born in America to English parents. It is defined as “virginal” while Belle obviously means beautiful. Belle also goes along with the sleighs on the dress. “Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?”
Dancing Cindy Lou – for Cindy Lou Who in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
Gumdrops and Lollipops – That’s what this dress first made me think of. I guess that’s all of the gingerbread house making I’ve done.
Dancing Darby – Dancing Young Deer
Kiss Me Under the Mistletoe – We hang lots of mistletoe at Christmas to remind us that we should show each other we love them (and it’s a good excuse to kiss my babies)
