Name the Dress Thursday: Edition 8

Yay it’s Name the Dress Thursday once again! And we have a beauty for you:)

This gal is so bright and cheery, with the winter months just starting, we need a little floral fun to make up for the lack of it outside…

Can’t wait to read your suggestions, like past dresses, she’s got some awesome potential. Get your creative juices flowing and name away!

Shasta dress sizes: 2, 4, and 6

Leave us a comment with your suggestion of the perfect name for this dress, and we’ll choose a winner and announce it here on the blog tomorrow! If your name is chosen, we’ll send you this dress in the size of your choice (sizes listed above)! I can’t wait to hear all of your suggestions!

Happy naming

<3 Melissa

*One little house-keeping note: since there are so many people leaving comments, there is always the chance that more than one person may suggest the same name. If we choose a name that has been suggested by more than one person, we will only be able to select the first person to suggest the name as the winner. But never fear! There will be sooo many more contests and chances for winning, so don’t give up!*

Third idea:
Yellow Rose means friendship in the US – so you could do a play on that…
my favorite friendship quote is:
(“What is a friend? A single soul, dwelling in two bodies” – Aristotle )
so you could name the dress… Aristole or Aristotlie to put a girlie spin on it.

Anderson – for Lynn Anderson and her singing “Rose Garden”.

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There’s gotta be a little rain sometimes.
When you take, you gotta give, so live and let live,
Or let go.
I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden…

MISSY J. - November 15, 2012 - 10:30 am

English Rose.

inspired by Madonna’s book The English Roses. I can just picture this dress on the pages of a story book like this.

The English Roses is a story of rivalry and friendship among schoolgirls in contemporary London. Four little girls-Nicole, Amy, Charlotte, and Grace-are eleven years old and the very best of friends. They have sleepovers, picnics and ice-skating parties that exclude Binah, a beautiful girl whose seemingly perfect life makes them “green with envy.” However, when a feisty, pumpernickel-loving fairy godmother takes them on a magical journey, they learn to their great surprise that Binah’s life is not nearly as enviable as it had seemed. The English Roses is an inspiring story about the importance of compassion and the rewards of friendship.

Looks just like the buckets of flowers my Grandma would bring in from her garden.

Karly - November 15, 2012 - 12:10 pm

My pick would be Empress Josephine. She was an empress of France that had a garden called Malmaison where she breeded roses. :D

Karly - November 15, 2012 - 12:13 pm

I’m not sure if my comment was accepted or not, but just in case, I suggest the name: Empress Jospehine. She was an Empress in France who breeded roses in her garden Malmaison. :D

Amber - November 15, 2012 - 12:14 pm

Rose Tea Party
or
Alice’s Rose Party

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where–” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“–so long as I get SOMEWHERE,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Caitlin. Simple and Beautiful. Just like the girl who i’m lucky enough to have known for short while. She is a 5 year old little girl who’s a friend of my daughter’s. She passed away on Veterans day after a 9 month battle with cancer. My life has changed so much because of her. I dont look at things the same way anymore. I stop to do messy projects with my daughter, or kiss scraped knees. I’ve left work early to go to class parties and suprised her for lunch. Things I never thought I “had the time for” or ” could do later” no longer wait for later. I make the time now. I’ve been reminded, painfully, that now is all I have for sure.

But Moses he knowses his toeses aren’t roses like, Moses supposes his toeses to be.” Have you heard it? On one of our favorite movies “Singin’ in the Rain’ with Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds? The Primrose Path–from Hamlet. Yes, we have Shakespeare to blame for all the confusion between “primrose path” and “garden path.” Ophelia, Hamlet’s sweetheart, coins the former, meaning “the path of luxury,” apparently linking primroses to libertine indulgence. The primrose had, since at least the fifteenth century, been associated with the metaphorical “flower” of youth, and so, indirectly, with youthful appetites.

‘Juno Regina’

The rose is the flower for the birth month of June. The month is named after the Roman Goddess, JUNO. She was also called Juno Regina (Queen Juno). She was a principal Goddess and one of great import and responsibility! She was also thought to be strong and beautiful! I think she’d have rocked MJC!
