Naming Names

Becoming a member of the Platinum team means taking on A LOT of responsibility. We run a pretty tight ship around here, and with only 5 of us to do everything, you can believe that we all have to work together like crazy to make the Platinum magic happen! We each have our own personal responsibilities, of course but then there are the extra jobs that we all float between. Some of these are not super fun, but are just as necessary as cutting, pulling or packing- like taking out the trash or cleaning on Friday afternoon. But then there is my favorite- naming the new Platinum pieces.

Once in a while when Sam and Denise are designing they will give a name to a piece, but a lot of times pieces are named once they have come back from being sewn and when we can see their true personalities. Sometimes it happens while Kiara is building item numbers, and she will search for the perfect name. Or sometimes Carrie is stocking the shelves with an item that has not been named yet and will hold up the piece and ask for suggestions. As I am sure you can tell by now, we draw inspiration for this from everywhere!! Fabrics, trims, cities, people we know, memories, and movies can all spark new names. You may remember the ruffle pants that were uploaded in November that had a theme: Veruca, Beauregard, and Snozzberry were all borrowed from our favorite, Willy Wonka. The day we named these pants, I searched on Google to be sure I had the correct spelling of “Snozzberry”, and believe me, there are many variations! Later that day, Sam walked by my computer, saw the word “snozzberry” in the search bar on my browser and asked, “Umm, Desi? Why were you googling snozzberries??”

Remember Carter? The CUTEST little knot dress with the cutest trim ever that is in the picture above? Would you believe me if I told you this dress earned her name from the little wiener dogs on the apron trim? Yep, at my college there was a little hot dog stand that showed up in The Village late at night and was known as Carter’s Hot Dogs. Everyone on campus knew that Carter had the best late night snacks for when you needed a break from pulling an all-nighter studying at the library. Or Haley- the sweetest little flutter that was everyone’s favorite (and my favorite!) from a recent upload. She was named after my childhood best friend who, I promise you had a dress exactly like this one when we were growing up!

We haven’t had a contest in a while, so why don’t you let me know what YOU think the most adorable name for a new Platinum piece is?? On Monday we’ll choose one of your names, name a dress after your sweet little girl, and when it is uploaded we will send you your very own in your child’s size! I hope you all have an amazing weekend!!

Love, Desi

Debbie Burke - January 20, 2012 - 7:29 am

You don’t have an Addy or an Addison yet, I think. =)

Name a dress after Addy and it better be sweet as sugar, stubborn as a mule and funny as all get out, because those three things describe her to a tee. Good Morning MJC!!!

“Lily” – this name is rich with family history. My Mother and Granddaughter share the name and it would be so nice to see a piece with this name (if it hasn’t already been done before). Thank you for your consideration!

Kim - January 20, 2012 - 7:36 am

My vote for an adorably named dress is.. Mila. Named after our sweet daughter who fulfilled our dreams of finally becoming parents.

Brandi Greene - January 20, 2012 - 7:36 am

What a fun contest :) I have an idea for you….it would really only apply to a very summery/beachy dress I think. My idea for a name is “Flotsam.” This inspiration comes from one of my favorite children stories of the same name. The term “flotsam” means: anything floating that has been washed ashore. This story is about an inquisitive child who finds an underwater camera washed ashore with amazing secrets inside. When he’s finished, he takes a picture of himself and tosses the camera back in the ocean to be passed to the next person who finds it. 2007 Caldecott Medal winner, too :) I hope you’ll consider this idea should the perfect dress be designed….very “share the love.” Thanks!!

I would love to see a piece named after my daughter, Bryce! Maybe I could convince her that Bryce can be a girl’s name if the piece is girly and twirly! :) My dh and I couldn’t agree on a name, so we searched the boy’s names and both loved Bryce. Unfortunately Bryce doesn’t yet feel the love for the uniqueness of her name. 😉

Jamie S - January 20, 2012 - 7:38 am

Can’t remember how recent, but I LOVED the Frita Flutter I think it was called. I have no idea why, but that name stuck in my head and it was one of those random things I couldn’t get out. Me and my 8 year old laughed forever trying to see how many times we could say it fast without messing up :) Try it!!!

Kristin Taron - January 20, 2012 - 7:38 am

My gals have abbreviations for their names: AddiBelle and Maddi Jewel. Have a fantastic day!!!

One more….Eliza Wray….our daughter who passed away in 2009. I just love her name!

Claire - January 20, 2012 - 7:38 am

I would love to see a dress named after my daughter! I don’t think there’s ever been a MJ piece with her name. Her name is Maren, which is of Scandanavian origin and means “star of the sea” and “little pearl”. Maybe a cute dress with blues and whites? :)

Courtney voss - January 20, 2012 - 7:38 am

I have 2 DD’s. My 6 year old is Delanie (who is called Lanie; and yes I had at least half a dozen calls when the AG doll catalog came out in 2010) and ironically my 3 and a half year old is Kennedy (who we refer to as Kenna Beth; and yes, the McKenna doll will most likely make an appearance in our home this May for her birthday).

Katya demarigny - January 20, 2012 - 7:39 am

Belle would be a beautiful name for a new Ellie top. My daughters name is Kaya Belle :)

Ashley Carter - January 20, 2012 - 7:39 am

I know you’ve had an Addy knot before (sadly I do not own one), but my little one is named Addysen (Addy for short), and I’d love for a dress to be named after her. Miss Addy has had a long battle with SPD & developmental delays, yet she is one of the bubbliest 2 year olds i know. Oh, and PS- her favorite color is purple! =)

Kaye Cannon - January 20, 2012 - 7:39 am

“Lucky Lexi”

Her name is LEXI, and she has big baby blue eyes and dark brown hair. She is 9 years old and we love Matilda Jane. Thanks for your beautiful work. I bought my first adult MJ this past fall, awesome…..

Sarah Makinney - January 20, 2012 - 7:39 am

My husband and I have nicknames for all 3 of our girls, like I’m sure most of us do, and here they are:
Lauren-“Hammer”(because she tries everything full force)
Grace-“ball peen”(she is more delicate and refined than Lauren)
Devin-“Devo”,”Deedough”(because of her baby gooiness), and “Devi” I guess because being the baby, everyone has given her so many variations!

Julie Divjak - January 20, 2012 - 7:39 am

When anyone asks my youngest daughter what her name is she very proudly points to herself & says “I Emme Louise!” She thinks her first & middle name must always be together. Louise comes from my grandmother’s middle name & though they never got a chance to meet, she would adore Emme Louise & as a quilter would have loved Matilda Jane dresses too!

Amy Hanshew - January 20, 2012 - 7:40 am

Sofie! Our Sofie is a little chunk of fun! If you are making any more western fabric pieces, Sofie would be the perfect name. She’s five years old and riding in her first rodeo tomorrow! :)

Angela Dotter - January 20, 2012 - 7:42 am

How about a dress named Audrey Claire. She is a fantastic little girl who always steals the show (this can be verified by anyone from her dance studio) she is 4 years old and very unpredictable, wouldn’t want it any other way.

nikki mosley - January 20, 2012 - 7:42 am

i think CHARLEE is a fabulous name for a platinum piece. i have been in love with this name for a long time and i finally have a little blonde hair, blue eyed 1 year old named Charlee Mae Wood. she is a doll and would LOVE a MJ dress. She would wear it well too :)

Carrie B - January 20, 2012 - 7:42 am

I love the story about Carter! We have a weiner dog so I have a soft spot for anything with them on it. I’m sad I didn’t see that one get uploaded!!

That aside, for a new dress… Its hard to say without seeing the dress we are naming but I think Pearl would be nice. Its one of those things thats so simple and classic but always beautiful :)

Melissa Conn - January 20, 2012 - 7:42 am

Caroline Elise. Or my other daughter is Elizabeth Cerise. Pick me!!!

Kathy Brosius - January 20, 2012 - 7:43 am

MeMo is the name! Our daughter who is now 8, use to refer to herself as MeMo when she was a toddler. Her name is Morgan and she just loves to hear the story of how Morgan became MeMo so many years ago (for her, LOL)even though it seems like yesterday to her father and I… OK, here it is…. When she was small, she couldn’t say Morgan, so she would say Mo… I would ask her “who is this? and point to her and her response would be it’s “me” and then I would say “who is me” and she would say “it’s Mo” and then she started putting it together to make up this funny, corky, perfectly cute, little zany name that actually described her to a T! Oh, she is growing up so quickly and it brings a tear to my eye everytime I tell her the story of how Morgan became MeMo when she was a “baby”!

DanielleH - January 20, 2012 - 7:43 am

How about Daisy…. I can see it now with beautiful bright colors to represent spring/summer so well. :)

Amy Drissel - January 20, 2012 - 7:44 am

Elle Belle is the Belle of the Ball!

Julie Templeton - January 20, 2012 - 7:44 am

I would name a dress Bliss because that is what each little girl and their mama feel when she puts on a platinum dress. If that has already been used, then how about Chase because that is what we are all doing after these platinum pieces. 😉

Hannah Foster - January 20, 2012 - 7:44 am

My baby girl is named Sophia Rosita and she has many many nicknames…

The Princess Za-Za dress :)

heather lynn - January 20, 2012 - 7:46 am

Courtney Puhl - January 20, 2012 - 7:47 am

I would love to see “Ma Marie” (my mom’s name is Marie and it would be just adorable to have my daughter in a dress named her “Nan”). Or “Emma Rose” after my daughter…I can just see that on one with a beautiful floral pattern.

Have a wonderful weekend, Ladies!

Moonshine

Deb Schmidt - January 20, 2012 - 7:48 am

You know, this came to me so quickly…I could not type fast enough. Mary Jo Vannatta…she is the one I think about, especially at this time of year. Before I had my twins, I had to be hospitalized for several weeks. She was my always compassionate, amazing nurse. It never mattered how busy she was during her days on the Maternity floor as head nurse, she took the time to be there for me, even calling when she was not scheduled to work. I was completely depressed during this time because I had to be away from my older kids and she made each and every day as special as the last, even bringing in football and basketball jerseys for my older boys who were also struggling with mom away. She always made me feel important and loved and she was such a breath of fresh air! To this day, we remain friends and she keeps tabs on all of us. I love her and feel so blessed by her friendship. I honestly believe I gave birth to my healthy twins in large part because of her…she was my Florence Nightingale. Platinum…always brings a smile to my face, when I am lucky enough to snag a piece, even on the dreariest of days…another breath of fresh air! :)

Jessica - January 20, 2012 - 7:48 am

Eyelet Ivy

Andrea Kaupp - January 20, 2012 - 7:48 am

I hope my choice isn’t too close to your example- but I have always wanted a “weiner dog- not a hot dog but a tiny wire haired dauchshund” and I always said the dog’s name either male or female would be “Dexter.” I picture “Dexter” as a smart and sassy Flutter dress :)

Cara Z - January 20, 2012 - 7:48 am

As a child, I used to live in a little village outside of London, England. When I found out I was having a girl, I knew I needed to somehow incorporate where I inot her name…..The result: Londyn Elizabeth. Femnine version of the city I loved to visit as a child. Elizabeth for the Queen of the country. Love her more every day!

How about Brinley. It means sweetheart or at least that is what a baby name book said when I choose it for my daughters name almost 2 years ago. So if you have a really sweet looking piece that would be perfect.

Another good one would be “Hello Clarice” if you have a piece that is a little daring or has lambs on it (quote is from the Silence of the Lambs).

Tanya Thoene - January 20, 2012 - 7:50 am

My oldest daughter is Isabella Merovais….would love something called Merovais!!!!

Would love a dress named after one of my girls, Ava Sofia and Chloe Evangeline :) Thanks for the chance!

Angie Ray - January 20, 2012 - 7:50 am

I think Holland Blooms would be a great name for a new Platnium piece. My 4 year old daughters name is Holland, and would love to have a Platnium piece named after her! She has an amazing little personality, and her Matilda Jane outfits really fit it perfectly!

Lacey - January 20, 2012 - 7:50 am

What a neat idea :] I’ve always wondered where the names come from. My name suggestion is the Marleigh Mimosa [ Marleigh being my miracle DD’s name meaning peaceful meadow and Mimosa being a flower defined as secret love – MJ is a meadow of secret love IMO ]. Thanks for the opportunity!

Amiee Seus - January 20, 2012 - 7:51 am

I think a great name would be Mareah..pronounced Mar as in car. A friend of mine’s daughter. When I read the contest her name was the first that came to mind. She’s the sweetest little girl Ive every met. She has the longest golden blonde hair. My daughter always says that she looks like Rapunzel. I can just picture her wearing one of your dresses.

Aubrey - January 20, 2012 - 7:54 am

“Alivia Aspen” After my oldest daughter who is wise beyond her years AND the biggest drama queen I’ve ever encountered. She’s also quite the MJ fan. Always insists on wearing MJ for school dress down days and of course for those super important 8 year old social events 😉

Toni Bloomfield - January 20, 2012 - 7:54 am

I have 4 children – 3 boys and one girl. My daughter’s name is Katherine – but I call her Miss Daisy. It was originally a little joke… at 2 years old she started carrying around bags, dora bags, MJ bags, my bags… and she fills them with her prized possessions. So I jokingly called her Miss Daisy from Driving Miss Daisy as I had to carry all of her stuff where ever we went. Now it has stuck :0)

I also call her Sparkie because she is sparky. She has 2 older brothers and she tells them how it is. She is fiesty, determined and, well, sparkie :) I love that about her and I love her to pieces.

So Sparkie or Miss Daisy :)

I tend to add all sorts of things onto my kids’ names. I call Sofia (3) Sof-a-loaf & Soferina a lot. My Natasha (15-loves wearing MJ adult) is called Tashie Goulashie & Tosh Bosh by me a lot.Sometimes we even sing her name into “My Sherona” with “Tosherona” :)
Don’t get me started on my so Nathan…Nate rhymes with everything! Great, skate, late…lol

As for a random name for a dress…Flute Fry. Many years ago I was referring to those pesky fruit flies to my older 3 kids, and did a “spoonerism” (love that word too). Now we always refer to them as “flute fries”. We even insert it into the “shoo-fly” song at times. “Flute fry don’t bother me, flute fry don’t bother me…”
Okay, now I’m thinking of Led Zep’s “Ramble On” cause that’s what I’m doing. lol

All I can say is “Thank you to all of you at MJC, you are all making a difference that touches so many lives that creates happiness!” :O)

My daughter has just recently began telling people her name and it is the cutest thing, she is named after her great grandmothers so her name is Martha jewel, but we call her mj. People have asked me before if mj stands for Matilda Jane after they notice all the mjc tags… haha. I wish you could hear her proudly say “I’m Martha jewel Wallis! But my names mj!” Adorable. And Martha jewel would make a perfect name for a fun girly colored platinum piece.

Hartney! My grandmothers maiden name and if im ever blessed with another girl it will be her name.

Ellen Jeffers - January 20, 2012 - 8:20 am

My youngest daughter’s name is Carris Mae Jeffers. She goes by Carris to most people, but to family, we call her “Mae Mae”…We were in a restaurant one night eating Sushi (yum) and a little girl next to us heard us call her “Mae Mae”… she then, referred to her as such. Then, the parents asked us if we knew what “Mae Mae” meant…. and we did not. They told us that “Mae Mae” was Mandarin for “Little Sister”. We had no idea! However… Carris is the youngest of our three children and the “Little Sister” of this family! We thought that was super cool! A great name for a platinum piece would be “Mae Mae”…. or at the very least “Mae”. She was named after both of her great grandmothers who had the middle name “Mae”… and old name none-the-less, but a classic.

Events that lead to the name we chose for our dear daughter. My husband and I had tried to become pregnant for over 16+yrs. During a trip to Sedona, AZ, we met with a woman named “Linda” who took us on a spiritual vortex tour. During this tour and please remember she does not know us she stated “You are trying to become pregnant and you are going to have one baby, a baby girl. She is sitting over your left shoulder and waiting for you to give her a name.” My husband and I just looked at one another. :) At the next vortex she asked me if my mother’s mother was deceased and a little spunky woman. I replied, “yes!” She held her hand like my grandmother use to and said that she was saying “I needed to have a baby . . . a baby girl!” Again, not knowing what to think my husband and I just looked at one another. Moving forward six months . . . I found out I was pregnant. When they performed an emergency c-section (our baby was born 2 months early)we found out we were blessed with a baby girl. When it came to naming our daughter we felt it could be no other than “Sedonah Elizabeth.” “Sedonah” means natural beauty and “Elizabeth” means God’s promise.

So I would love to name an MJC/Plat prettu after my daughter “Sedonah Elizabeth.”

Ann B - January 20, 2012 - 8:27 am

I think it would be so fun to pick names for Platinum pieces, and I have certainly wondered before where the names come from. Thanks for the blog, it was a fun read! Here are my name suggestions 😀
Elsa, after my baby girl and only daughter or
Pearl, her middle name and her 90 year old great grandmother’s name. You couldn’t find a more beautiful soul, and a dress with this name would surely be one to remember.

This is so much fun!!! When I think of a new spring season…I think of birds and flowers. Growing up, my mom’s nickname for me was Birdie. Ha! Not sure why, she just thougth it was cute?? My legs are much more on the tree trunk side! And the name Flora Lee just screams a girly spring dress. My husband and I are in the process of adopting a baby right now, and we will be naming him/her after my dad- Lee! So, there are my votes, Birdie and Flora Lee! Good Luck to all of the awesome entries:)

Amy - January 20, 2012 - 8:28 am

Avery Marie – this dress needs to be full of spunk and super sassy too!

Jennifer Raymond - January 20, 2012 - 8:28 am

I have 2 daughters Charlotte Lynn……I know there was already a Charlotte but I also have a Macie and she is a force to be recond with she is 5 going on 25 and is the queen of sass she would be the perfect girl to name a dress after!

JOYCE K - January 20, 2012 - 8:29 am

Joann E - January 20, 2012 - 8:29 am

PEANUT!!!! That beautiful dress in your pic looks just like my dog Peanut! Love it!

Valeria Prince - January 20, 2012 - 8:30 am

“Innocence”… Its portrayal in your line of clothing is a large part of why I love it so. Little girls in tiered dresses, knots, ellies, and ruffles….looking the part of innocent little girls, for as long as possible…

Kelly Nett - January 20, 2012 - 8:31 am

Presley Kate

Nicolle D - January 20, 2012 - 8:31 am

So fun! My daughters name is Emma Elizabeth (she is 6), but we call her Peeka (as in Peek a boo) because when she was a baby, and she was upset, I would sing a song that started “peek a boo, peek a boo, peek a boo, I love you”. as soon as i got to the words “peek a” she would be smiling. We also call her DoodleBug and BabyDoll. Emma’s favorite song is “I love a Rainy Night” by Eddie Rabbitt. I think “Rainy Night would be sweet too. There are so many cute suggestions already! Good luck on the picking!

Allison H. - January 20, 2012 - 8:31 am

Elli Belle or Elli Bean for my sweet little Elizabeth. :)

Jenn - January 20, 2012 - 8:32 am

Lilli Pearl,
Julia Lorin,
Charleston (can’t leave out the little guy!)

Heather Blewett - January 20, 2012 - 8:32 am

After 2 adorable boys…I finally had a baby girl on February 28th 2011, I named her Madeline Paige, although I do call her Maddie Paige too! That would be an amazing 1st birthday gift for my Sweet Madeline!

AnnMarie Gruber - January 20, 2012 - 8:32 am

1. Diddle Daddle Doodle Doo(my neice’s nickname – she’s such a goofy girl)

2. Elsa Bug – my daughter’s nickname. It started as snuggle bug since she loved to snuggle. Since her name is Elsa, it slowly just became Elsa Bug

Karissa Brossart - January 20, 2012 - 8:32 am

My two picks would be “Lillian” after my oldest daughter Lilli and my second pick would be “Alana Aliya” after my youngest daughter Alana….. I would LOVE to see one of these picked.

Ruth Manwaring - January 20, 2012 - 8:32 am

Dog Days
Marley (from the movie)
Lil Blue
Best Friend
Copper Knot (after Fox and the Hound)

Lauren Kreitner - January 20, 2012 - 8:35 am

I just love this contest! I would love a an MJ item with the name Khloe(I know you guys have had a Khloe with a C but not with a K!!). Which is my youngests name. Or my oldest daughters middle name Rheanne(pronounced Reeann). I gave her the name after a good friend of mine in high school who was the most genuine person I have ever known. I hope I get picked!

Valeria Prince - January 20, 2012 - 8:36 am

My oldest is miriam rose….as moses’ older sister did in the bible, she looks out for her little brother (and sister). Her daddy has over 80 rose bushes planted at our home, hence her middle name. I think a piece made only in bigger sizes, with a rose print and lots of pink would be fabulous with her name…

Jackie DeJongh - January 20, 2012 - 8:36 am

I would say a southern frilly frock named after my Shelby:) (and my favorite character in Steel Magnolias)

angie - January 20, 2012 - 8:37 am

Khloe Joli – my little princess full of spunk & sass, but also sweet & cute as a button!

Brooke - January 20, 2012 - 8:39 am

Ok, I have to do a second one….when I was pregnant, I was obsessed with naming my baby-to-be Agatha. I adore this name for some reason, although I was told by everyone and his dog that Agatha was an “old lady name” and my husband flat out vetoed it :( So prove everyone wrong and name a young, stunning tiered ellie Agatha…maybe others will see the beauty in the name that I see :)

Rebecca Taylor - January 20, 2012 - 8:39 am

How about Harper or Haddon?

angie - January 20, 2012 - 8:39 am

Khloe Joli – my little pricess full of spunk & sass, yet is sweet & cute as a button!

Shelly - January 20, 2012 - 8:39 am

Oh how fun!!! Would LOVE to win this one. :) :)

First off, an “Ali Ellie” has a nice ring to it!!!

Her full name is Alexandria Shea or sometimes Ali Shea for short.

She also has a nickname “Lulu” that started off as Flossy Lulu (yeah no idea how that started) when she was a baby. So many of our friends call her Lulu, she answers to both. Lol. We do get some strange looks at in public when we call her that. :)

I know you have a Lulu dress already, but I could totally see a flutter dress called Flossy Lulu. :)

Sheena - January 20, 2012 - 8:40 am

Adalyne or Ainsley :) A dress named after two of the sweetest girls I know!

Carol N - January 20, 2012 - 8:40 am

Clara Rose after my daughter!

Angie Christensen - January 20, 2012 - 8:41 am

Naming clothing would be so fun! I think “Dzann” would be a great name it is Russian and means strong, sweet and bright-all qualities little girls are made of! I also think “Gumdrop” would be so cute!!
As for my own DD’s my youngest is Avery and we call her “Averella” (sometimes she acts like a little princess) and then my oldest is Olivia (“Lala”-what Avery used to call her when she first was talking. Now she calls her “Livi” for short).

Michelle Clouse - January 20, 2012 - 8:41 am

Love adding all of the names. Would love to see one named after our little EllaBella or our newest addition Parker. Even though Parker is a boy, his sister would get a kick out wearing something that is named after him!

Jennifer Christman - January 20, 2012 - 8:41 am

Jorie (or Jolie) It is my DD’s name (named after my childhood BF) and a variation of the French word Jolie- which appropriately means “Pretty”!

My sweet girl is Anabelle Joy. Few of her nicknames are A Joy, Belle Joy, Sweet Bellebelle. Love the contest idea!

Nicole - January 20, 2012 - 8:42 am

Helen, because what are the odds I would be blessed with two sweet grandmas with the same name. My girl is Kamryn Claire, so Kammy Claire would also be a great name.

kate - January 20, 2012 - 8:42 am

I have two sweet girls, Calli and Ellenor, but the sweetest name of all is what Calli calls her baby sister, Nell Bell (Ellenor’s nickname) created with love by a 2 year old. I love it!!

My daughter’s name is Gracie Bella but all of us call her Gracie B except for her daddy. he has called her “grapes” since befoer she was born so maybe “grapes” would be a good one if you had a dress with lots of purple.

Stephanie Mc - January 20, 2012 - 8:50 am

I know you have a skirt, which we LOVE! But I would love to see “The Ava Claire Knot”! or “The Claire Bear Knot” (her nickname) with cute little bear trim on the apron! Super cute!

Tonya - January 20, 2012 - 8:52 am

Tanya siman - January 20, 2012 - 8:52 am

My vote is for “Elliott ” or “Jenna” jenna is my daughters name and I think a very perfect name for an mj platinum piece! Elliott is my middle name- I hated it growing up bc o Eliot in E.T. { Ella Jean } :) thats my baby, and she would love a pretty little ellie dress named after her!:)

Carrie Plummer - January 20, 2012 - 8:54 am

Love to hear the stories behind the names! Of course, you could go with Emily Marie or Emmy for my girl, but I also like these:
-North Star (for something blue, or constellation/star adjacent)
-Grow and Bloom (from my fave 10,000 Maniacs song for anything floral)
-Meridian (because it’s such a beautiful sounding word, and the definition: a high point)
-Aglow (for anything bright and luminous)
How fun! I could go on forever. I’d use nicknames for my kiddos, but none are particularly Platinum ready: NuggetChunk, Syrup, E-Bear, Sack of Potatoes. Hah!

Megan Stevens - January 20, 2012 - 8:55 am

I would sure love to see an Asher or peanut cake– she answers to both. :) Ohh or Margaret Sue… both are family names and Ashers middle names, we save this for when she is in trouble, thankfully it is very rarely used.

Bonnie Hembrough - January 20, 2012 - 8:56 am

What a wonderful idea for a contest, so much fun. My grandaughter’s name is Keeleigh, as a nick name I call her “Sugar Plum.” I came up with that nickname for her because she really is just the sweetest. She is 3 1/2 years old and loves horses. She has named her toy horses: “Goldie, Spirit, PolkaDot, Abrowna, Milkshake, Sparkle, and Bow.” (Lots of little toy horses huh? She plays with them all the time.) Thanks for the opportunity to enter, this was fun!

Danielle - January 20, 2012 - 8:57 am

Miss Boisterous
Perkalicious
No Shrinking Violet

Fun contest!

Tanya siman - January 20, 2012 - 8:57 am

Just thought of another bc my sister “Dustin” just called– we call her “dusty” even though professionally she tries to tell people her name is Dustin .. She automatically gets called dusty– he middle name is Leigh.. And I’ve always loved we name. When she was little everyone would respond with- ” oh that’s my dogs name” and wouldn’t it be great if finally she could stand proud and say– it’s a Matilda Jane dress name lol! My mom told her she was named for the dust in our basement- mom is a ceramic artist.. But the real story is she had a crush on Dustin hoffman.. Okay end of my ramble! Xoxo

Libby Cantrell - January 20, 2012 - 8:58 am

Wrenai - January 20, 2012 - 8:58 am

I would love a piece named after my daughter Elliana Jane (her middle name is my grandma & moms name)
Or even me;) Wrenai, my Real name is actually Renee however in highschool I started spelling it Wrenai. I was uprooted to small town northern MN by my mother having only lived in larger cities moved to a town of 500 was quite a culture shock… there were 2 other Renee’s in school whom at the time seemed pretty stuck up and i did not want to be associated with them you know as cool as I was and all;) *I’m sure they are fine upstanding citizens now so I mean no harm;)* and while I still spell it Renee most times the Wrenai part stuck. Even my highschool diploma is under Wrenai (wonder if that means I legally didn’t graduate? Heh) and my best friends daughters middle name is spelled wrenai:). so now only my old or close friends call me wren or spell my name wrenai. I
always use it as my screen name for online stuff as well.:)
Excuse errors on iPod:)
Peace, Wrenai

Lisa - January 20, 2012 - 9:16 am

Not after my daughter but I also have a suggestion with a memory from my childhood. She was my 1st grade teacher. Mrs.Jennings. I loved her last name for some reason and could never incorporate it into my life but naming a dress Miss Jennings would be AWESOME! A part of my past could then be worn by my daughter in the present. That would be a great way to remember my 1st grade teacher everytime my daughter wore the dress.

Amber L - January 20, 2012 - 9:16 am

How about Trici for my Tricity or Tylyn for my little miss’ middle name :) Love to know where the names come from!!

The Mary Morgan or the Madeleine Grace. Sorry if I posted this twice.

Leslie - January 20, 2012 - 9:21 am

How about Trinity 😉 My youngest daughter is named Trinity Jae and I wish I had a wonderful story as to why we chose that name but it boils down to the fact that I staked claims on the middle name {my only sibling who passed away 8 years ago was named Jeffrey and I knew if I had another child i’d incorporate his name somehow so I came up with the Jae}. Because I picked the middle name dad insisted on selecting her first name from the long list of possibilities I had written down. He hated every single name on the list but Trinity because Trinity made him think of the Matrix movies.

Shelley - January 20, 2012 - 9:23 am

What about an entire upload of the “pet names” people call their children-
sunshine, sweetheart, darling, etc. and many of the names already mentioned in above comments. That would be a super Valentine upload!

Bridget Hansen - January 20, 2012 - 9:24 am

This is so much fun, but I think picking names is so hard so GOOD LUCK!! I think the prefect platinum name would be PRESLEY SHEA or TESS MILEY! My sweet girls would be so excited to have a cute platinum piece named after them!

Whitney E - January 20, 2012 - 9:24 am

ok I have another one, a little off the wall, but I love this movie. Zoolander :)

zeb's mom - January 20, 2012 - 9:25 am

Little Miss Ella Bella. It’s the name of our little 3.4 pound full grown Yorkie. My DD loves to dress her up in doll clothes, put bows in her hair and push her around in a doll pram. It’s quite a site & makes you smile even if you don’t want to! Just like MJC.

How about an Ellie named Kenley Rae… we love the Ellies, well we love almost everyting MJ. :)

Paula - January 20, 2012 - 9:26 am

Hmmm… Olly has been on my mind lately. I know you have already done Oliver, but I think Olly has it’s own possibilities if you haven’t used it already! (P.S. I really like the names like Emerald City and especially Neverland!)

Mitra - January 20, 2012 - 9:27 am

Caitlin!

Named after a little friend in my daughter’s class who has — on Monday– been diagnosed with a brain tumor that is both untreatable and inoperable. She’s the sweetest and most vibrant little thing and sadly She’s only 4. We are all praying for her, raising money for her, and spending time with her but just short of a miracle she won’t be with us for years to come.

Wendy - January 20, 2012 - 9:27 am

How about one from my favorite movie, “Some Kind of Wonderful.” Miss Amanda Jones (that was the Leah Thompson character). My favorite character in the movie was, of course, Watts, but I am not sure if that is a cute enough name for a dress, maybe for some punk looking leggings or a tank top though. :)

Monica - January 20, 2012 - 9:27 am

Melanie Prchal - January 20, 2012 - 9:30 am

If I could name a Platinum dress, I’d name it the Lily.

A little background as to why this name. I’m the eldest of three and the only one who’s had children. My mom adores both of my kids but of course is dying for more grandkiddies. My brother and his wife have struggled for the past several years to conceive but with no luck. My sister, the baby of the family recently announced that she and her husband are expecting. We were all beyond excited for her but there was that little feeling of sadness for my brother and his wife. Well not three weeks later did my brother and his wife find out that they too are expecting! Truly a miracle. My sister decided that if she had a girl she’d name it Lily after my grandmother Lilian. She went in for her ultrasound and found out it’s GIRL!! and the incredible thing is she found this out on the anniversary of my grandmother’s death. This is gonna be one special Lily. :)

TAnya luce - January 20, 2012 - 9:32 am

“Sachi,” “Johnnie,” “Ruthie,” “Eliza Jo” & “Macy Clare” … can’t wait to find out what the winning name is going to be!

Annie - January 20, 2012 - 9:33 am

Hmmmmm. I would want to make the name something that meant something to me. We have an MJ headband that is my daughter’s name already….so I choose something with Jane in it…for all the party hosts as well as our amazing TK, Jane H.

I think my fave is probably just simply Sweet Jane.

Sweet Jane
Cutie Patootie Jane
Jane’s Symphony
Dancin’ Jane
Jane-mazing

Rachel T - January 20, 2012 - 9:36 am

I think ACADIA would be a cool name for a platinum piece :)

Amy Brooke - January 20, 2012 - 9:37 am

My sweet and sassy daughters name is Ellington Brooke. She is named after my great grandmothers maiden name, Ellington, and my middle name, Brooke. It is amazing how her fun and loving personality is the perfect mix of both of us! I think Ellington would be the perfect name for a sassy and twirly MJC Ellie dress!!

Lucy N - January 20, 2012 - 9:37 am

-Annie
-Molly
These ARE my daughters names that I have always loved ever since I was a child. I think they are classic and timeless and, I didn’t realize until after I had named them… But they are also from my girls favorite movie, Annie! Best movie ever:)

amy j. - January 20, 2012 - 9:40 am

Tiddlywinks!

aubrey l. - January 20, 2012 - 9:40 am

i think ‘the sweet diva’ would be a great dress name! i know my dd definately feels like one when she wears her MJ, though she does have a lil ‘tude;) or shilah grace, her name, shilah came from shiloh which means ‘gift from God’ which she truly is & grace b/c by God’s grace we were able to have a girl in a family that told me over & over, ‘Lofgren’s don’t make girls’!

Gina LaFountain - January 20, 2012 - 9:41 am

My precious granddaughter is named after her great-grandmother whom she never got to meet, but as a little girl, my daughter was 7 years old when her grandmother passed away, and she always said if she ever had a daughter she would name her after her Mamaw and 25 years later we have that little girl and her name is Calley Brooke, aka, Doodlebug!!! She is a beautiful brown haired, brown eyed little girl, just like her great Grandmother!!!

goodideamomma - January 20, 2012 - 9:42 am

Karen Eisman - January 20, 2012 - 9:48 am

We have three girls, Kalla(Kayla)Marie-beautiful flower, Payton Dane-feminine warrior, and Baylie Jade-meanings that it was our oldest’s “idea” to have another child she got to name her. I love idea, Thank you for everything you do!!

Shalaine Britain - January 20, 2012 - 9:50 am

My daughter’s name is Brooklyn Shae. I wanted to name her Avenue Shae at first but since my husband and I always get odd comments about our names we went with the beautiful yet not so “odd” name of Brooklyn. My name is Shalaine Starr (maiden name) and my husbands name is Beau. You wouldn’t believe how many times we have to spell our names and correct people but we both love our names and hope that Brooklyn feels the same. I know she would love to have an adorable Matilda Jane dress just to prove it. : )

christina faust - January 20, 2012 - 9:50 am

Catie Claire or Catherine Claire

Jen Anderson - January 20, 2012 - 9:50 am

Just the way we were blessed and I would not have in any other way! My two girls have such a wonderful bond and have learned so much from each other. In honor of both my girls I would love to name a knot TRIPEY. The first three letters of each girls name. Thanks for the fun!

“The Dallas” named after my daughter;) “Duchess” is her cute nickname.

mom22n2 - January 20, 2012 - 9:57 am

I am picturing a “Rockwell” knot representing Americana, family values, simplicity as Norman Rockwell, and Matilda Jane do best!

Meredith Johnsnon - January 20, 2012 - 9:58 am

Hadley, My sweet 6-year-old’s name

Rachel Foley - January 20, 2012 - 9:58 am

Growing up the only way my friends could shorten my name to be fun was to call me Rachie or Rach. It was ok but I always wanted to be something like Elizabeth so friends could call me Libby or Liza. I knew when I had a daughter I wanted to name her something that her friends could shorten to be cute if she wanted them to. So we have Addison Kathleen. Addie Kate is what I want but she can decide herself one day:)

becca dickerman - January 20, 2012 - 10:00 am

how about ring around the rosie?

Alison Miller - January 20, 2012 - 10:00 am

I think the perfect name for a piece would be “Trouble”. First, because I know as soon as platinum pops up with this and any other new pieces, my wallet will be in trouble. Secondly, it makes me think of my daughter, because when she is being particularly bratty we call her by her full name and then some: Riley Elizabeth Trouble Miller.

Jen - January 20, 2012 - 10:00 am

Brooks!!

April Dunn - January 20, 2012 - 10:01 am

My Claire Bear would love a dress named after her. I know there is a “Claire Bear” hat…we own it! But a dress would be awesome! :)

Becky P. - January 20, 2012 - 10:04 am

I’m going to throw Emily Joy into the mix for a sweet & spunky dress that matches my sweet red-headed girl’s personality.

Sarah - January 20, 2012 - 10:04 am

Lilliputian!!!! Like from Lilliput the island from Gulliver’s Travels. My Lilly was born so tiny she looked like one of the tiny people from the island!!!

Kara A. - January 20, 2012 - 10:04 am

Whitney Kay or Marin Jae :) My two daughters!

Kelsey Bendixen - January 20, 2012 - 10:05 am

Mayble June would be a perfect name I think :) mostly because I think that’s what we’re naming our baby girl coming in 9 or so weeks! :)

Erika Calihan - January 20, 2012 - 10:05 am

My daughter Eva (age 5) and I share a fondness for the Brady Bunch;) Since you already have the ADORABLE Brady leggings, why not continue with the theme? Perhaps – Marcia, Jan, Cindy, Carol, or Alice? Since you’re getting a boys’ line together, you could include Greg, Peter, Bobby, Mike or even Tiger;)

Alicia - January 20, 2012 - 10:05 am

I love games like this, so I have 2 suggestions! lol

1. Aurora, the poetic name of the Roman goddess of sunrise whose tears turned into the morning dew. I see yellows, oranges and blues…

2. Quillen, our family name and one of the most original and interesting names out there (I think). I envision a stunning green tiered ellie

Oh, and of course, my little Hollyn would be a lovely choice too. :)

I’m sure no matter the piece/name you come up with, it will be gorgeous! Thanks for the fun contest!!!

Cathy Piper - January 20, 2012 - 10:06 am

Macey Leigh

Gran - January 20, 2012 - 10:07 am

I have not read the other comments so this may already be a choice. Also, I cannot remember if this may have been a name already. How about sparrow??? I can see that on a flutter, knot, peasant or ellie that can take a little girl flying away into imagination land.

jennLW - January 20, 2012 - 10:07 am

It would be fun to see a something named after my dd, Kiana Taylor. Though some days she wishes her name was Kiany- LOL. So I suppose a Kiany could be cute too.

BTW Willy Wonka- All time favorite movie

Katie Vaino - January 20, 2012 - 10:09 am

My daughters name is Olivia, but when she was born my son was not even two and could not say her named so he lovingly named her Wia. She continues to be called Wia now and although I don’t expect this name to be loved by others the way we love it, I thought I’d share a sweet story with you :)

Wia

Courtney Kirkland - January 20, 2012 - 10:10 am

I think Poppins or Mary Poppins would be great. Your clothes are full of the same charm and imagination as that great film!

marcus barton - January 20, 2012 - 10:10 am

My daughter, Lilly has sensory integration disorder which is a form of autism. When she was younger, i called her ‘Lillybug’ and it just kind of stuck. Even now, when we are out in public, i get strange looks because i have shortened it to ‘Bug’. whenever we encounter a pink ladybug item, we tell her its a Lillybug, so i think “LillyBug” would be a good name.

Ronna N - January 20, 2012 - 10:11 am

Dilly Dally or Lollygag – 2 things my sweet little girl loves to do

Shannon B. - January 20, 2012 - 10:11 am

My sweet girl Avery would love a dress named for her! Every morning I ask what she wants to wear, and the answer is always ‘how about a dress, mom?!’. I just asked her what are a some nicknames I call her, and she said ‘sugar pie.’ Love that girl. :)

Gran - January 20, 2012 - 10:16 am

Sorry to comment again but just thought of one of my best friends in high school whose name I have never ever heard again. It is Dwyn. When I asked where the name came from she told me it was the name of a boat her father had seen when he on duty overseas.

Jami - January 20, 2012 - 10:16 am

I like flotsam and jetsam because it means bits and pieces or odds and ends. Which is what a lot of platinum is. You are using up your bits and pieces and turning them into something fantastic. Plus Flotsam and Jetsam just sounds cool. Or of course there is the greatest name ever– Stella Ryan–the most fiery little girl you will ever meet and we were lucky enough to adopt two and half years ago!

Kelly York - January 20, 2012 - 10:18 am

I have a hairdresser named Destiny and It always makes me laugh when I have an appoinment and if someone asks me to do something on the day of my appoinment I have to say ” no I have an appoinment with Destiny”. Love it, it makes me smile plus so much meaning with it too:)

Any Plat brings a smile to our face :)

Laine Yount - January 20, 2012 - 10:24 am

My girls are named “Finley” and “Hadley” but we only call them by that name if they are in trouble! Most of the time, it’s “Finn” and “Haddie,” which I think would be some super cute names for tiered ellies!! (Hint, hint:)) The “Finn” should be girly, florals in pinks and purples, with plenty of twirl. The “Haddie” needs some vibrant, funky colors, with an unexpected girly trim…oh, how I would love to spend a day with all those fabrics at my fingertips!

Lindsey H - January 20, 2012 - 10:24 am

Sunday. Nothing more perfect than a lazy day!

My dear niece is named Maisley, we call her Mae. Her name was a combination of the two names my sister and bro-in law were considering, Wesley for a boy and Mabel for a girl (after my maternal grandmother). Would be lovely to have an original piece named after her original name and personality!

Rajitha s - January 20, 2012 - 10:33 am

When my husband and I found out we were having a baby girl we wanted a unique Indian name so from a combination of three different Indian names we came up with ASHALIA…. Which actually means flower and mesmerizing!!! Pretty descriptive of the platinum pieces…:)

I have two little girls and am choosing a name that applies to both of them. “Sister Sue”, or sometimes just “Sister”, is a fun-spirited nickname they both happily answer to. I think it would make an adorable name for a piece of Platinum, as well.

Emily Wood - January 20, 2012 - 10:38 am

Rainbow Connection….it makes think of spring and an explosion of colors. And that is my daughter, and explosion of color in my life.

My favorite imaginative name of all time is Gewdypthe which reminds me of running through the dew covered grass, early on a bright winter morning, smelling the sweetness (and a little mildew) of clothing forgotten overnight on the line as I pick oranges fresh from the groves for my grandmother to make me a glass of pure Florida sunshine.

Shannon - January 20, 2012 - 10:44 am

Oops just read we are supposed to put our little one’s name. Evie Selene :) She is a complete animal lover, full of sass, and gives the best bear hugs. A complete firecracker. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My suggestion is Reagan Jane. This is my little girl’s name and she was named after the greatest president Ronald Reagan so in honor of the Republican primary and in hopes that we get a candidate like Reagan and of course because of my sweet little princess – I think Reagan Jane would be an amazing name for your platinum clothing item.

Mom_to_Maddy - January 20, 2012 - 10:45 am

The other MJ- Madelyne Jean

Trisha J - January 20, 2012 - 10:46 am

How about summer dresses named after ice cream treats? Root beer float…Banana split…Creamsicle…Strawberry milkshake. Can you tell I’m ready for winter to end?? Of course, if you wanted to name a dress after my daughter(Olivia Paige), that would be awesome too!

My daughters name is Rowan, I think it would make a fantabulous name for some plat!

Kristina Maynard - January 20, 2012 - 10:51 am

How about “DC Love”? In case it’s not obvious, the DC stands for diet coke. I always get a chuckle from your diet coke references. :)

Jess Mease - January 20, 2012 - 10:52 am

Sugar-Baby :)
My bestie is a true southern belle and calls my sweet girls her ‘Sugar Babies’. They recently moved away and when my girls talk about missing them, they often say amidst giggles…”Does Aunt Cindi call us her Sugar-Babies?!” (in a perfect southern drawl of course) They think it is so funny & so endearing. I think it would be a beautiful name for a dress w/ sweet ole’ Southern charm :)

How about a starry night??? That one sounds like it would be right up our ally with rich dark colors and dazzling highlights. Isabella would like one in a size 2 please : )

Angela - January 20, 2012 - 10:53 am

My 5 year old daughter is Ryleigh Grace. Her nickname is Punky, because she reminds me so much of Punky Brewster, from her dark brown pigtails to her crazy clothing combo’s. I loved that show when I was a kid! My 2 year old daughter is Kynzie Bliss but most the time we call her Bliss. She wasn’t named after the candy but she is just like a little peice of hershey’s bliss, so cute you just want to eat her up! Good luck with picking a name, there are lots of great ones. You might have to make extra dresses just so you can use more of the names! lol

Kristin Klein - January 20, 2012 - 10:53 am

My daughters name is Alissa Lee…We call her Lissy Lou!! So sweet!!

Carrie K - January 20, 2012 - 10:53 am

There is nothing I like calling my Josephine more than JoJo.

It means she is being silly and wonderful and precious all at the same time – perfect for MJ Platinum!

Trisha J - January 20, 2012 - 10:56 am

Oh, or what about pieces named after children’s book characters? Ramona (Quimby)…Nancy (Drew)…Christina Katerina (& The Box)…Madeline…Lucy (Little)…Dorothy (Wizard of Oz)…Wendy (from Peter Pan). What a fun contest! I always said I would love to name paint colors or nail polish, but naming Matilda Jane pieces would be much more fun!!

Stacey W - January 20, 2012 - 10:56 am

“Ravishing”
When my daughter was about five, she had gotten herself dressed, came downstairs, and asked,
“Mom, do I look ravishing in this? Well wait, what does ravishing mean? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
Of course, I replied, “Yes, baby. You look ravishing and that is a good thing!”
Still makes me a little teary.

Kari Witthuhn - January 20, 2012 - 10:58 am

Irie- she was named for the Jamaican term which means “1: powerful and pleasing 2: excellent, highest n 3: the state of feeling great.

Ever since my hubby and I had a missionary trip there, we loved the term and thus gave it to our daughter….perfect for a Matilda piece as not only do my kids feel great wearing the clothes, I feel great seeing them in pieces made with love and it makes almost everyone we connect with ask “where did you get that!” and I’m always happy to share you lovely brand!

Great work all!

Melanie Morrison - January 20, 2012 - 10:59 am

Brenna or Maddie Gwynn

Karen K - January 20, 2012 - 11:00 am

Well, if it is a dress with some blues in it, how about Etta to honor Etta James (famous blues singer) who past away today?

Jody - January 20, 2012 - 11:01 am

My granddaughter’s name is Sophie Jane, but her mom calls her Peanut!

Monika - January 20, 2012 - 11:03 am

I always love all the names you ladies come up with! I’m not super creative… but I know my older girl once said “There’s never anything with my name… no pencils, no stickers, not even a Matilda Jane piece!!!” Her name is Erina Rose, not very common. She’s twelve and wouldn’t fit in any platinum dress… and well, she would probably be too cool to wear it anyways, sigh. But she would still love seeing something named after her ;-).

Ida Norwood - January 20, 2012 - 11:03 am

Precious Girl!

Kari Witthuhn - January 20, 2012 - 11:05 am

Irie :: 1: powerful and pleasing 2: excellent, highest n 3: the state of feeling great.

Irie was named after a missionary trip to Jamaica where we heard the term “irie” often. Not only do my girls feel great wearing your clothes, I adore that they are made with love and everyone that sees them in your line gasps and has to know where to get their own…powerful to see it all full circle, pleasing to the eye, excellent creativity, highest quality and the ultimate state of feeling (and looking) great!

Ann - January 20, 2012 - 11:06 am

Lauren, Tilt a Whirl, Tea Party, Bellissima, Fairy Sweet or Cotton Love!

Natali P. - January 20, 2012 - 11:09 am

I’ve been dying to see a Matilda Jane “Ayla” dress named after my lil girl. Her name isn’t too common but it oozes sweetness and all things girlie. Or if you want to get real cute name it after her nickname the “Ayla Bug” dress.
Thx

Jennifer - January 20, 2012 - 11:10 am

Hailey Perrone - January 20, 2012 - 11:13 am

My baby’s name is Luna Belle….meaning “beautiful moon”….I think that would be an adorable name for a dress! Maybe a pattern with a moon on it or dark blue….my other Daughters are named Paisley Taylor and Morgan Lily….those would be awesome too! What a great contest!

Rochelle - January 20, 2012 - 11:14 am

My girls are Lucy Violet and Lauren Frances. I think an I love Lucy dress would be pretty cute!

Julie Ruster - January 20, 2012 - 11:15 am

My Girls names are Alexa Faith and Kendall Hope. Although, my husband has nicknamed our youngest (Kendall), spunky (or spunk for short) beacause of her spunky personality!!

maryanne helms - January 20, 2012 - 11:16 am

I think that your dresses have somewhat an English and vintage inspiration. They are classic, and yet modern and colorful for today’s little girl. In keeping with the popular mini-series, Downton Abbey, what about a “Grantham”, or “Sybil” or “Edith” or “Downton”? Something that reflects a cherished period in time?

ellie - January 20, 2012 - 11:16 am

“sweet pea” my daughters nickname and a pretty flower :)

Kim S. Smith - January 20, 2012 - 11:17 am

Lola! My daughters middle name. She was named after my grandmother who sewed all her kids clothes during World War II in Poland, as well as for the village kids.

Lisa Beard - January 20, 2012 - 11:17 am

My obvious choice would be after my daughters, Sarina and Elise. But, upon further thought, I would go with the Ariel after my favorite Disney princess! Or maybe bubbles or lily of the valley!

Jennifer - January 20, 2012 - 11:17 am

I can only imagine having to come up with new names for each and every piece! What a challenge – and what a fun contest! I’d love to see a dress called Snickerdoodle. It just makes me think of sweet sugar, spicy cinnamon and a little sass all rolled into one!

Elizabeth Hummel - January 20, 2012 - 11:18 am

Well, my first choice would be after my daughter, Taylan. My second would be Evangeline – just love the name and think it would be a beautiful dress!

krissy p - January 20, 2012 - 11:19 am

I have my own two sweet flowers Lilly & Rose 5 and 9 I just had to have two flowers so my garden is filled with roses and lilies :-) I loved the Chrissy Rose dress

Elizabeth Hummel - January 20, 2012 - 11:20 am

My first choice would be Taylan – after my own daughter. My second choice would be Evangeline – just a beautiful name and I am sure it would be a beautiful dress as well!

Joni Thompson - January 20, 2012 - 11:20 am

MollyAnna- my favorite little girl name :)

maryanne helms - January 20, 2012 - 11:20 am

I think your clothing has appeal on many levels, but I prize it most for its vintage, even British flavor. In keeping with the popular new mini-series, Downton Abbey, what about a “Grantham”, or “Edith”, or “Sybil”, or “Downton”? Clothing reflective of a cherished time period?

How about Marley, or maybe Sweet Marley-because that’s what she is after all. My daughter is Marley because my husband & I met & fell in love to the sweet sounds of Bob Marley while on a Jamaican vacay. Kinda serendipitous dont ya think?

Lisa M - January 20, 2012 - 11:31 am

I love this idea!

I like the name Lemon Street… there is a street here in Neptune Beach (Neptune is another good name too), where I grew up going to the beach and it just reminds me of summertime as a child.

While I have three girls and I love their names, Caroline, Mallory and Eliza I would love to see a dress named after my grandmother Annabelle who turned 92 this month. She is a free spirited little lady who inspires me daily.

Summer Jesse - January 20, 2012 - 11:51 am

Vera Rose
My daughter’s name, everyone that hears it loves it. Vera was my grandmothers name and I always said if I had a little girl I would name her Vera, My grandma was killed by a drunk driver when I was 30 months old, but she loved having a granddaughter, after she passed away my mom and aunt found clothing for me that she had bought all the way up to size 5. I know if she were still alive she would be having fun buying clothing for her great granddaughter. Rose comes from my MIL it’s her first name.

JillDG - January 20, 2012 - 11:52 am

I would have to have a piece named Ruth. Not only was it my beloved Grandmothers name, but my sweet Jenna’s middle name. It may be an old fashioned name but I love it!

ShelleyM - January 20, 2012 - 11:55 am

I have a Keira Taylor and a Kamdyn Reese. My littlest one can’t say Keira yet, so she calls her sister, Key Key. Love the baby talk!!

gillian - January 20, 2012 - 11:57 am

My daughters name is Santana. And she has two nicknames, Santana banana and her cheer coaches call her tanners 😀

Christina P. - January 20, 2012 - 11:57 am

After having 3 boys I finally was pregnant with a girl!
So what does my husband want to name her? Cole! I said heck no!
It would be a cute nickname, but she had to have a girly name!
So we decided to name her…

Cohlee!

Misty T. - January 20, 2012 - 11:58 am

I’m cheering for the name McQuinn. I know it’s a bit unique but it’s a family name and every generation has had at least one person with that as part of their name forever. It can actually be traced back over 500 years when it was MacQueen. Our darling son is Jackson McQuinn (but it’s one of those great names that can be masculine or feminine.)

Heather D. - January 20, 2012 - 11:58 am

How about Machu Picchu? I’ve always wanted to travel to this ancient Peruvian city and I think it’s the perfect name for a Platinum piece made with lush greens, velvety chocolate browns, chalky greys, and geometric shapes. And on the personal side, the only other name I’d love to see on a Platinum piece is the nickname my dad gave me as a toddler: Pucca. I have no idea what it means, but I think of warm hugs and “daddy-time” walks when I hear it. Happy times!

Teresa m - January 20, 2012 - 11:58 am

MaKinna aka “bubbles”

Johanna - January 20, 2012 - 11:58 am

the most adorable name for a new platinum piece…hands down….FUSSES. yep, FUSSES….the nick- name affectionately given to our daughter (Madelyn Rose) when she was an infant and had THE. WORST. COLIC. EVER. I’d say, “she fusses all day long, all night long, everyday!” After weeks of no sleep and utter exhaustion… she was anointed with her new name! She’s 5 1/2 now (that 1/2 is super important to these kiddos, you know?) and she is still our Fusses-always will be:-) So, this Platinum piece would have to be ultra girly (definitely pink…light pink at that, Fusses would say!) with a bit of colic added on top…you know, a wee bit o cheeky-ness (btw, thanks for such a fun contest!)

Jennifer Schroeder - January 20, 2012 - 12:02 pm

I like Fairchild. Wanna dress it up….you could say Ms. Fairchild. It sounds proper and English-y. My daughters names are Luci & Lola. Either of those would be cool too. : )

Gena - January 20, 2012 - 12:03 pm

Brooks for my mom’s family’s last name! Abbie is my two year olds name is would be a pretty name.

LAURA ASH - January 20, 2012 - 12:05 pm

One of my favorite movies as a child was The Sound of Music. I loved the scene when the children are singing, playing, and laughing in the clothes Maria made out of the old curtains in her bedroom. Maybe one of the new platinum dresses would be fitting of the name, Maria, Liesl, Brigitta, Marta, Gretl? Or you could name a dress after my darling daughter, Ainsley, who just started wearing MJ.

Kelli Williams - January 20, 2012 - 12:06 pm

How about Norah, Aubree Claire or Adaleigh?

Michele L. - January 20, 2012 - 12:08 pm

My Fair Lady
Michele–for the middle name my daughter & I share
Puddle Duck
Butterfly Kisses

krista - January 20, 2012 - 12:11 pm

Maddie Bean ….a combination of both my kid’s nick names :)

april fine - January 20, 2012 - 12:11 pm

I think you should name it the “Yasmeen”. That’s my youngest Daughter Sadie’s middle name and it is also a family name that we passed down to her. It means Jasmine in Arabic and who doesn’t love the Jasmine?

krista - January 20, 2012 - 12:13 pm

Madelyn Daisy….my dd’s name :) Perfect for a spring line!

Jenni Broyles - January 20, 2012 - 12:14 pm

My suggestion is “Hope”. It’s a family name…my middle name, my daughter’s middle name and my mom’s name. What’s a life without a little Hope!

april fine - January 20, 2012 - 12:15 pm

I would love to see the next knot named Yasmeen. It is my youngest daughters middle name and it has been passed through my family for generations. It means Jasmine in Arabic and who doesn’t love Jasmine?

shan - January 20, 2012 - 12:16 pm

How about Saylor Gray?

Navah's mom - January 20, 2012 - 12:19 pm

Of course I like the name Navah. After 6 boys it took a while to pick the right name. Comes from Hebrew and means “to make beautiful”. Perfect name for our daughter and I think it would be awesome for a Platinum piece as well.

Michelle Lynch - January 20, 2012 - 12:20 pm

Well we have two amazing daughters Caitlin and Makenna, great names right! But we do have nicknames for them we use more than their given names. Our oldest we call “Love” and our little one we call “Bug” put them together and you have “LoveBug” cute right:) Just realized putting them together creates such a fun cute name and what a perfect name for Valentines right around the corner! Thanks for this fun contest.

I also love the name “Goldie” after my oldest daughter, we say she sometimes has the attention span of a goldfish, but she’s just often in her own little world:) She’s an amazing girl always thinking outside of the box, following the beat of her own drum:) Love this girl!

Cheers, Michelle

Dawn Danford - January 20, 2012 - 12:22 pm

HI BEAUTIFUL LADIES, WHAT IS YOUR THOUGHTS FOR HOPE” THAT ALL LITTLE GIRLS CAN FEEL GOOD IN YOUR WONDERFUL CREATION THAT YOU GIVE TO ALL OF US AS WELL ” THANKYOU

Lauren - January 20, 2012 - 12:24 pm

I would have to go with either Brielle or Genevieve – my 15 month old and due-in-June daughters :)

Jen - January 20, 2012 - 12:28 pm

I have no idea if this has already been suggested, but the unanimous vote in our house was for Scooby Doo or just Scooby per Addie. A current favorite with our 5 and unders. :)

Thanks!

Navah's mom - January 20, 2012 - 12:29 pm

My 2nd choice was Avonleigh :)

Jenni Lillie - January 20, 2012 - 12:30 pm

My lovely girl’s name is Anna Grace. My nickname for her is sweet babe. She is full of grace and sweetness.

Nikki Hottell - January 20, 2012 - 12:30 pm

Oh goodness I could sit here all day and think of names…so fun!! Our dd’s name is Kambree and of course we would love a dressed named after her :-) Here are a few other names I like for a gorgeous dress:

Sweet and Sassy – most of us can relate our dd’s to these 2 words!

Twirlin’ -bc thats what our dd’s do in these gorgy dresses

Americus- from the movie “where the heart is” ♥ that movie and that little girls name!!

ShannonN - January 20, 2012 - 12:30 pm

I have so many nicknames for my daughter it was hard to choose just one, so I played around with a few of them and came up with these suggestions.

*The Toodlebug*
*The Kennedy Kool Knot*
*The Divalicious Dress*
*The Dancing Queen*

Margaret G - January 20, 2012 - 12:31 pm

Chelan
Telly
Adia
Annika
Olivia
These are the names of my daughters best friends from schoo.

Erika Taylor - January 20, 2012 - 12:32 pm

Wow…I have a really hard time picking just one name especially without seeing a piece to put it with!
Awesome contest idea! Here’s some to think about:
Shella
Corinne
Lydia
Darcy
Hatley
Cordelia
Alina

Good luck with finding the perfect one and I can’t wait to see the new goodies!

Misty Austin - January 20, 2012 - 12:32 pm

Well not in platinum pieces but you have used my name already.. Misty. And you have used my oldest daughters name already, Sara Mackenzie. So, how about Kennedy Grayce?? That’s my baby girls name. 😉

Debbie Gorlewski - January 20, 2012 - 12:33 pm

There are so many wonderful ideas above…I don’t know how you will choose. My suggestion would be Frances, which is my daughter’s middle name. She was born 2 days after my father passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly in 2010. We were going to name her Kaitlyn Mary but changed it to Kaitlyn Frances in honor of my father, Peter Francis. My daughter is such a joy and though my heart still misses my dad so much, I know he is watching over her.

Angie B - January 20, 2012 - 12:33 pm

I like to watch the dog whisperer and he has a dog on their called “Georgia Peaches” and I love it. My grandmothers name is “Carmella” and I have to throw in my little girls name “Anna Kate”

Danna Miller - January 20, 2012 - 12:35 pm

Brynnley or Brynnley Reese is my daughter’s name. She is sweet and spunky!

Julie Lynn - January 20, 2012 - 12:35 pm

What about Scarlett, Lillian or Harper?

Stephanie Page - January 20, 2012 - 12:37 pm

I vote for Paige or Page. I married into the name and no one gets it right! I have 2 girls who wear MJ proudly.

My Alexis Eloise and Kylie Nicole. All 4 names are just beautiful in my opinion. However, since I am most partial to my hubby; honoring him for being the best stay-at-home dad I know would be a true treat!

Rachel Kee - January 20, 2012 - 12:38 pm

Bugarella or KK (I think the bugarella dress would need some type of lady bug or dotted ribbon trim on it but it would be oh so cuteness)

Sara Dobish - January 20, 2012 - 12:38 pm

My little Hannah Grace would love a knot dress in yellow called the “Hannah Banana.”

Patricia P - January 20, 2012 - 12:41 pm

Thank you so much for the contest!
I have four daughters, Hope, Isabella we call her (Bella), Jayde her knick name is Jaydey Baby and my youngest name Is Madison who call Maddy.
It would be very neat to have a piece of platinum named after one of my daughters as they often ask the name of the pieces they wear!!

Ashley Helms - January 20, 2012 - 12:45 pm

My Beautiful Girl is named Swayzie Sloan. Ask her anyday of the week what she wants to wear and she’ll say “tilda jaaane” in a singing voice (she’s 2). It’s the sweetest!! She would be so excited to have a dress named for her!! We might not be able to get it off of her! You once commented on her FB pic around xmas saying she was a precious moments doll and that is the perfect description- she is a precious little doll :) Thanks for all your amazing work! We sure love and appreciate you!

Ask her ant day of the week what she wants to wear and she’ll say “Tila Jaaaaane” in a singing voice (she’s 2).It’s the sweetest! She would be so excited to have a dress named for her! We might ever get it off of her! You commented on her FB pic around xmas saying she was a precious moments doll and that is the perfect description- she is a precious little doll. Thank you for all of your amazing creations!! We sure love and appreciate ya’ll!!

Diana - January 20, 2012 - 12:50 pm

I love looking at all of the name suggestions; what a great contest!
My suggestions:
– Petunia (You choose such wonderful floral patterns that Petunia seems like a fitting name for a flowery, girly dress)
– Jenny Jenkins (A name from a children’s song that, in my opinion, portrays a spunky and fun girl- very MJC!)

I would love the name of my daughter. Abigail Elizabeth Jane. It took my husband and I ten years to have our amazing twins and when we did we picked the name Abigail and then two middle names to honor our amazing grandmothers. Who doesn’t love the name Jane?

Bridget Bazzett - January 20, 2012 - 12:53 pm

Ivy June. My daughter and the love of my life! : )

Brandon - January 20, 2012 - 12:58 pm

Gidget Fenwick - January 20, 2012 - 12:58 pm

Shady tree dress….or my daughters middle name…Reela
Thankyou:)

Sheridan - January 20, 2012 - 12:59 pm

How fun is this!!! Having a dress called “Lexi” or “Alexis” after my daughter would be very neat! Although, if I was in charge of naming a dress, it’s name would be “Plumeria.” It just happens to be the name of a very beautiful rare flower and since all of your dresses are beautiful and each platinum piece is rare, it would make a perfect name. :) If you don’t know anything about this flower, you should google it and you will fall in love too!!!

cami - January 20, 2012 - 1:00 pm

I love the name Iyla. That is what I want to name my next daughter.

Sara Lindsay - January 20, 2012 - 1:01 pm

My little girl Emily Rose has the word whimsy / whimsical stuck in her vocabulary. Sometimes it is used appropriately, often not but almost every day she goes in to her closet and says “mommy, my whimsy today is this” and she holds up whatever she would like to wear that day. Each time she does it it makes me smile. How cool to have a dress named for her Whimsy :).

Kim T - January 20, 2012 - 1:01 pm

My daughter would go crazy for a dress named after her – her name is Callie – or Callie Sage to be exact. She’s our divalicious 3.5 year old! Oh, I’d also like to submit her nickname – Boogaloo!

Kelly Frizzell - January 20, 2012 - 1:03 pm

My daughter’s name is Laney (after my husband’s grandfather) and we always call her Laney Lou. It just rolls off the tongue. If you use her name, you have to put some dog fabric or trim on it!!! (Just ask Kasey!) : )

amanda - January 20, 2012 - 1:04 pm

Brianna Marie~ for Being unpredictable and sweet all at the same time and loves rainbows and to color them as well. And of course, princess meets horse(even unicorns) is all her as well as above. She comes home from kindergarten and colors rainbows w/ flowers on them and asks me to draw her a horse(YIKES). I then ask for her horse book that shows how to sketch a horse. lol
I have so many of her pictures she has given me that I have cut them into little book mark strips to use in my bible to mark my places for Bible study so I know where to turn to when at the Bible Study tee hee I think I need to relearn the song that I learned growing up “Books of the Bible”? lol I swear(oops~didn’t mean to swear) I am going to teach my kids that song one of these days! amen

Amber Vaughn - January 20, 2012 - 1:40 pm

I love this contest…and I have to admit I read almost all 458 comments posted LOL…I love the ice cream names suggested (as a second choice :-)) becuase I would love to see one named after my youngest Kaylen Mae (combo of mine and my hubby’s middle names) she also responds to KayMae…every day she ask me if she can wear a matilda jane dress..even today when it’s 13 degrees..her teachers have actually nick named her tilda jane (that’s what she said when she was two and they would tell her she looked so pretty and what was she wearing)!! you guys make getting dressed so much fun for me and my girls..and we of course love every compliment we get!

Jenny Bryan - January 20, 2012 - 2:29 pm

Hey ladies! I am actually NOT plugging myself, because you already have a dress titled “caroline” for my sweet girl. I am supporting my friend Meredith who posted about “Scout”, her sweet daughter. They also call her “Scoutie Jane”, as she mentioned. How could an MJ dress with a name like that NOT be adorable?!

We’ve swooned over Prim, Fruitopia, Palmyra, and Plum Pudding, all beautiful pieces on their own, but also all containing those beautiful blue colors we love. I’d love to have a piece named after her with her favorite color. It’s like a new take on “Rhapsody in Blue” (that one works too, but of course I’d prefer her name) 😉

Great contest!

Carrie Brown - January 20, 2012 - 3:49 pm

Hi girls! Not sure if you are just looking for our daughters’ names, (Leighton Chloe is my little sweetie’s name) or if you are looking for cool original names to use. I would love to suggest Aloma (uh-LOW-muh) as a new name. This was my grandmother’s name. She was a twin when she was born but they didn’t know it (my Great Grandma had 3 sets of twins – yes 3!) and they only had one name picked out so they let the midwife decide and this is what she came up with. Nice, huh? Her nickname was Lomie which I love too. My mother’s name is Loanna (a combo of Lomie and Andy (her parents). I’m just plain ol’ Carrie. My grandmother died in 1986. How cool would it be to have a dress for Leighton named after her Great Grandmother???

Katharine Gregg - January 20, 2012 - 3:50 pm

Leighton would be a lovely dress, or Hobo!!! I’d honestly love to get name a bag :)
Lolla or Lollapalooza 😉 (her nickname)

Leigh - January 20, 2012 - 3:51 pm

Amy Stoller - January 20, 2012 - 4:18 pm

My daughter’s name is Claire Elise. We ususally call her Claire Bear but I’m pretty sure there was a hat already named that. So I think Claire Elise would be a great name for a knot dress with a Parisian theme or with toile fabric.

Rachael swanson - January 20, 2012 - 4:25 pm

Kennedy- an American classic!
My daughter is Lovely Lauren 3yrs old

My oldest has had FOUR pieces now named after her!! (Yes, she would tell you they named them after her ha). Two ellies, one platinum puffer, and one of the prettiest knot dresses MJC ever made – her name is Violet :)

So, in the interest of fairness, with little sister now coming up on two and her Matilda Jane awareness surely coming of age, it would only be fitting that you one day name a piece after her: Ivy. I think English Ivy is catchy. Or Ivy in the Roses :)

Carrie-Ann H - January 20, 2012 - 4:44 pm

Sweet Ivy!

She loves MJ clothing!! She is my little shopper….

Gina Brown - January 20, 2012 - 4:55 pm

“You make me shine like gold”

Thanks MJ for making us smile too!

Jessica Schreiner - January 20, 2012 - 5:04 pm

“Jilli Brown” Our daughter, Jillian Hope, is the first girl after 3 boys. Because of this, she is spoiled rotten and can be a bit naughty. We have song we sing when she is acting out and it usually makes her stop screaming/crying/fighting with her brothers, etc., etc. It goes, “Bad, bad, JilliBrown, baddest Jilli in the whole darn town…” Yes, same tune as Leroy Brown. I think Jilli Brown would be a good name for an MJ piece!

Pam C - January 20, 2012 - 6:52 pm

I Nominate Nora and Kate as names. I was born after my grandmother (dads mom) died so to honor her I was given her name as my middle name. My first daughter was born just after my dad died suddenly so I wanted to honor him in the same name. But his name was Edward Steven – hard to get a girls name out of it. So I named her Nora, because the best way to honor a man is to honor his mother. To continue the story, when my second daughter was born we struggled to find a name. I’d always loved the name Kate for its simplicity so we named her that. When she was two we were at my moms cleaning out my dads things. Out of the blue we found my grandmothers passport and made an incredible discovery. We always knew her first name was Nora but that day we found out that her middle name was Kate. We all cried because we knew, or really we confirmed our belief that my dads spirit lives on in my girls, Nora and Kate. Thanks for listening to my story!

Molly C - January 20, 2012 - 6:52 pm

My daughter’s name is LAVIN!! I love it as it is my maiden name and it fits her to a tee! Lavin is an outgoing, happy little go-lucky girl! She loves to twirl – so ellie dresses are her favorite – because of their twirl factor! :)

Lindsay H. - January 20, 2012 - 7:30 pm

Nora Caroline is my daughters name but I think “Sweet Caroline” would be a super cute name for a little girl dress!

rachel b. - January 20, 2012 - 7:37 pm

“natty cake”
this is what i call my 3 almost 4 year old daughter, natalie!

jessica corn - January 20, 2012 - 7:40 pm

I have 2 gorgeous girls and 4 great names…LILLIAN KATE and EMMA ANN (emma is 7 months and should be recieving her first mj pieces any day now from the last sale!) I also have to give love to the best kitty ever who recently passed…sweet LILAH JANE. We miss her everyday, she was one classy cat!

JoAnne Johnson - January 20, 2012 - 7:49 pm

Callie Grace or
Taylor Sayge
I love, love the colors of that MJ PIECE :)

jen k - January 20, 2012 - 7:49 pm

Sweet little girls names are among my favorite things but 717 comments is an absolute ton of reading. So…I apologize if this has already been suggested. I think the absolute most perfect name for an amazing new mj dress would be the name of someone humble, creative, brilliant, gracious…a wee bit cheeky? A name like…Denise? :) I would love to have Denise dress. An instant classic….

Margaret Hofer - January 20, 2012 - 7:51 pm

My name would be “Emmie” or “Emerson”

Kathryn Gammons - January 20, 2012 - 8:03 pm

I love ‘The buttercup’ or after my sweet girl Annie Kathryn ‘Annie Kate’ for short! Buttercups are so cheerful just like my sweet baby girl!

Rebecca Freeland - January 20, 2012 - 8:05 pm

Sara-Katherine is my little miracles name. She will be four in March and loves her Matilda Jane.

Stephanie G-D - January 20, 2012 - 8:05 pm

When my daughter was born my son was 20 months. He spent her first 6 months home with me helping to care for her. He would get her bibs and burp clothes when I was feeding her and loved to be a helper in any way. He cheered her on when she was learning to roll over. He would yell, go Gracie Boo, go. Almost 2 years later, she is still Gracie Boo. I think Gracie Boo would make an adorable dress! And, if you don’t like Gracie Boo, how about a Betty Grace after the greatest grandma ever!

Amanda - January 20, 2012 - 8:17 pm

My daughter’s name is Julianne Camille, but for some reason my brother has always insisted on calling her “June Bug”. I never could figure out where that came from because she was born in September, but my motto has always been “just go with it” so, we do. 😉 When Julianne was barely old enough to talk her uncle came over and, as usual, called her “June Bug”….so she says “NO it’s Julianne…just Julianne”. It’s become somewhat a tradition over the years (she’s 6 now) for them to go through this little ritual each and every time they see each other. “Hey June Bug”….”It’s Julianne, just Julianne”….”Hey Just Julianne!” And then she dissolves in a fit of giggles.

Sooooo, my vote would either be for “June Bug” OR “Just Julianne” in honor of my daughter and her unique and silly relationship with her Uncle Joseph.

Candace Reed - January 20, 2012 - 8:20 pm

How about my daughter’s names–Kellee and Kylee, or after my Grandma–Izella. :)

Kaatje Pitzer - January 20, 2012 - 8:20 pm

I asked my three girls for some help and they came up with ours! “blue Lola” this idea came in honor of their papa who is battling stage 4 cancer and had surgery Wednesday. It’s a combo of his beloved cats which my girls adore along with papa of course! We would love this dress!

Kaatje Pitzer - January 20, 2012 - 8:23 pm

I asked my 3 girls for help and they came up with Blue Lola. This is in honor of their papa who is battling stage 4 cancer and had another surgery Wednesday. This is a combo of his cats names. The girls adore the cats as well as papa of course! They would love to wear the Blue Lola!

Paige Rutand McCauley - January 20, 2012 - 8:26 pm

How about either “At Last” or “Etta J” in memory of one seriously awesome R&B singer? Who didn’t want to dance to that at their wedding?

Paige Rutand McCauley - January 20, 2012 - 8:30 pm

Miriam - January 20, 2012 - 8:58 pm

Bunny Bear

My girl’s name is Gabby (Gabrielle), but I call her bunny bear. It would be fun to have a dress named after her. But I also like “Mia” and had we had a second daughter that would have been her name. “Pure Honey” also sounds nice. And “Salt Water Taffy”. Maybe I’m just getting hungry. 😉

Frances would be a super cute name for a dress. :)

Amy Knight - January 20, 2012 - 9:31 pm

(meaning Unique~Sparkle…which is exactly what your line of clothing is…and your company and clothing brings that Unique Sparkle on many faces!)

Nancy DiCicco - January 20, 2012 - 9:35 pm

How about Along Came Polly, Little Dipper, or Brooklyn?

Dawn Brown - January 20, 2012 - 9:43 pm

Killian Rose is my darling’s name. Her name means little warrior…She is an MJ girl…everyday; through & through. Perhaps every mom feels this way, but when Killian Rose is in her Matilda clothes, I feel like you designed them just for her…they’re that perfect:)

Kristi Green - January 20, 2012 - 9:56 pm

Peyton (she’s a size 2) or Elle (she’s size 4)-these are my daughters, but I also think my friend’s beautiful daughter, Mylana would be perfect! She is size 8.

I handed my daughter a pair of sienna shorties that came in the mail today…to my surprise she was not pleased they shared her name! Apparently she would like to be the only Sienna (too late). So instead I will enter the new name for our cat…KIT KIT…I promise it sounds much cuter when my 2 year old daughter says it.

Maria Romero - January 20, 2012 - 10:32 pm

Sara Q - January 21, 2012 - 2:14 am

How about the “little miss Gigi” named for our very own Maggie, as coined by her sweet little two year old brother, who can’t quite seem to pronounce it any better….little miss gig has been working extra hard lately to be comfortable in her own skin, and a little MJ piece does wonders to cover it all up!

Brannon - January 21, 2012 - 2:27 am

Sara Lindsay - January 21, 2012 - 8:15 am

I don’t see my comment so going to try again. My little girl Emily Rose has been fond of the word whimsy/whimsical since she was two. No idea where she picked it up but she uses it all the time sometimes appropriately, sometimes not. Every morning she goes in to her closet and says to me “mommy this is my whimsy today” as she points to the outfit she would like to wear. It always makes me smile. How perfect to have a whimsy just for her :).

Christy Perdue - January 21, 2012 - 8:47 am

Amy McMaster - January 21, 2012 - 11:23 am

I have fraternal twins named Katherine and Addison. One is blonde and the other is brunette…so maybe dresses that are not alike, but coordinating? Does that make any sense?

Amy McMaster - January 21, 2012 - 11:26 am

I have three year old fraternal twins named Katherine and Addison. Addison is blonde and Katherine is a brunette…so may e two dresses that coordinate with each other?? :-)

One of the sweetest ideas I have ever heard of! My daughter is 19 months and calls MJC “Audrey’s Fashion.”! Having a item called “Audrey Kate” would totally make her day!

Kylie Lee - January 21, 2012 - 11:42 am

The best name that comes to my mind is “camdyn” after my 5 year old only child Camdyn! I was only 18 when Camdyn was born and to many this would have been looked at as a negative thing but she is the best thing that has ever happened to me, she keeps me going and without her I dont know where I would be! The media sheds a negative light on teen moms but since having camdyn i have a wonderful job, graduated college and have the life i always wanted. i believe it was camdyn that actually pushed me to do al those things and become the person i am today! for that I am extremely greatfull. Her smile lights up a room just as her smile lights up when we receive a new beautiful dress from mj! I couldnt think of better name for a new platinum piece and hopefully put some smiles on other little gilrs faces as well!

Kylie Lee - January 21, 2012 - 11:46 am

somehow my comment didnt post but in a nutshell:

Camdyn- my 5 year old daughter camdyn has the biggest mile i have ever seen! The smile on her face melts my heart everyday! I would love to see a dress named Camdyn and would hope that it puts a smile on other little girls faces as much as hers!

Ashli - January 21, 2012 - 5:02 pm

My sweet 19 month old daughter, Audrey, has white blond hair and very blue eyes. My husband and I call her “Blondie” and my parents call her “Blue,” I think “Blondie & Blue” would be an adorable name for a dress! She loves her Matilda Jane! Calls it, “Audrey’s Fashion!” :)

Dawn Hudson - January 21, 2012 - 8:51 pm

Since you already have a Bailey (which is my little girl after three boys) I am going to go with a few nicknames she already has at three months.

Sweet Cheeks (you should hear my two year old little boy saying “Hello Sweet Cheeks!) Cutest thing.

Then there is Pumpkin Pie when she is being good and Pumpkin Spice when she is being naughty. She was born in October hence the Pumpkin reference. Those would be some good fall dress names :)

Good luck choosing there are lots of good names.

Allison Farmer - January 21, 2012 - 9:02 pm

jennifer cain - January 21, 2012 - 9:42 pm

Okay,I wasnt going to do this because while I find “names” totally inspiring. I also find it incredibly personal and almost dangerous…(does that make sense) But a friend has encouraged me to share my sweet little girls name. Piccolina. Which in Italian means “real small or very small”. Her true name is Phoebe but when she was first born, her and I had to be hospitalized for a while and my sister had come over from Europe to babysit us. Over there (France/Italy), they sunbath the babies under mosquito nettings and everyonce in a while go and wrap them up and snuggle them all the while saying “oh Piccolina” and then back under the netting. My sister said…she looks just like a Piccolina. Well a few weeks later the name just came to life with her. and although her name is Phoebe…She goes by Piccolina to almost everyone and at 2.5 she is just called Pickle by her brother and sister, ok and my husband and I too. So I nomintate Piccolina for a lovely name for a dress….Thank you for considering

Kristi P. - January 21, 2012 - 11:59 pm

I would, of course, be quite partial to the Stella Claire after my spunky, sweet, little. Her name means so much to us, holding a story too long to tell here, but it’s a good one :) What a fun contest!

Krista Ehorn - January 22, 2012 - 12:26 am

Kamryn, or Navy Bean (that’s her nickname since her middle name is Navy)

makala barton - January 22, 2012 - 1:46 am

Oh nothing super creative, but my daughter’s name is Brynley and how fun to have a dress named after her!
The perfect “Brynley” would be twirly, bright (with lots of pink!) and just make you smile every time you see it :)

Tammy Smith - January 22, 2012 - 2:08 am

As a mother to ten amazing children I’ve taken great care in naming our children. When we found out our youngest was a girl I searched long and hard for the perfect name. I knew it when I found it. She is Liberty Grace.

Kayla ONeal - January 22, 2012 - 3:44 am

My two girls are named Isla Rose and Lainey Jane. :)

Leigh - January 22, 2012 - 5:11 am

Fletcher’s Flutterby was (and is) my first but since my niece went crazy over the pieces in the trunk show invites, this one’s for her – Livie Roo.

Jennifer Jarrett - January 22, 2012 - 5:30 am

ANSLEY or Pacey because my baby girl had open heart surgery at two weeks old and then had a pacemaker put in about a week later after she went into cardiac arrest. Now she is doing wonderful! Praise God!

Jennifer Phillips - January 22, 2012 - 8:15 am

I would LOVE to see Platinum name a series of dresses after great “old” (ahem!) nostalgic songs that mean a lot to different folks at 433. So my submission is to name a dress “Anna Begins” from my favorite song on the 1993 Counting Crows “August and Everything After” CD.

Priscilla Bockelman - January 22, 2012 - 8:30 am

I would love to see a platinum piece named Siann in memory of my grandparetns that I love and miss so dearly. It is my daughter’s middle name in honor of them. My grandpa’s name was Silas and my grandmother’s name Annie so when we were searching for the perfect middle name for my daughter, we thought what better name than to combine the names of a husband and wife that meant so much to me and had such a huge influence on my upbringing. I love them so much and can’t wait till the day I can see them again and they can meet my kids!!!

Cassie Spencer - January 22, 2012 - 8:36 am

the Addison Grace 😉

Ashley Harris - January 22, 2012 - 8:46 am

Names: macie, anneliese, birds of paradise, isadora, saidie, riverlynn, destiny, and peaches & cream. Best of luck!

How about:

Bee’s Knees
Field Mouse
Gus Gus
Twinkle
Pink Cloud
Rock Candy
Katniss (or) Everdeen (cause I’m really digging the Hunger Games right now) :)

I know that is a bunch of randomness, but couldn’t pass up this fun contest!

mandy richards - January 22, 2012 - 9:06 am

I put in my recommendation for a dress to be named “Nanner Puddin”, on Friday, since that is what we call our youngest daughter Savannah who is 2 :-) Her two older sisters, Abbey and Clara mentioned that they wanted to let you all know that she never gets any “new” clothes for herself and would really like to see her win so that she could have something that wouldn’t be a “hand me down”. I thought it was sweet that they mentioned this. What a fun contest!

Brooke Craft - January 22, 2012 - 9:20 am

My daughters name is Kherington Rae. But since Kherington is difficult for a little girl to say, we have a million nicknames.

Elizabeth Raetz - January 22, 2012 - 9:45 am

Madeline Grace is my five-year-old. She has many identities…
Maddie Moo
Madeline Moo

Melissa Burkholder - January 22, 2012 - 11:12 am

Such a fun idea!! How about Allory? My sweet little 3 year old adorns your clothing daily. She has the sweet spunky sassy personality all wrapped in one little body. I’m sure you’ve got the perfect ensemble to match those traits:). Thanks again to all for creating such fabulous clothes for us.

Steph P - January 22, 2012 - 11:43 am

Ande Nola.
My baby girl’s name is Anderson Nola, but we call her Ande. Anderson is my mother-in-law’s maiden name. Nola is for New Orleans, LA (where Ande was conceived).

Sally Kostrzewa - January 22, 2012 - 11:43 am

My daughter Peyton is a MJC girl! She recently turned 5 and her Pop (my Dad) always called her Possum or Pop’s Possum. The nickname came from a crazy pregnancy dream I had, it just stuck and fit her perfectly. Peyton’s Pop/ My Dad died before his Possum turned 2 years old (we even had a Possum shaped birthday cake for Peyton that year) I am so thankful he at least was able to see Peyton, for the short time they had together (she has 2 little brothers now, one named after him) before we lost him. He was the Best Dad in the world to me and my 2 sisters and Peyton was his very first grandchild. He adored her and would have loved to see her in all her pretty MJ outfits. He was such an awesome girls’ Daddy. So, to make this long story short I would love to see a piece named “Possum” for Peyton’s Pop <3

Lauren Walker - January 22, 2012 - 11:50 am

I nominate Kate Emerson as a new piece because my little “Kater Tator” looked adorable at church this morning in her Bella dress!

Angela Schewe - January 22, 2012 - 11:56 am

Emma Elizabeth…sounds so vintage and PLATINUM!

Torry Luzier-Barrett - January 22, 2012 - 12:36 pm

Twirly Girl for any dress that twirls. A “big deal” for my daughter. She has to be able to twirl. Or Smurfette if a blue dress/skirt per my 4 year old.

brandy - January 22, 2012 - 12:36 pm

Reagan, Averie, Brianna and Presley

Sara Burke - January 22, 2012 - 12:37 pm

Well, I see you’ve gotten so many suggestions for a name and I don’t know how you are going to possibly sift through them all, but I wanted to add CALISTA (aka Kia) to your list. Mostly because it is her 6th birthday on the 26h and nothing would make her happier than having a piece of MJ named after her. It might also help me forget about the fact that she just gave herself a haircut. Yep, that’s right. She now sports a golf ball sized bald spot on the top of her head!!

brandy - January 22, 2012 - 12:41 pm

Austin…because I love Austin, tx

Nicole B - January 22, 2012 - 12:50 pm

allie - January 22, 2012 - 12:54 pm

Merritt! That is our newborn’s middle name and we love it!!

Jess - January 22, 2012 - 12:55 pm

I think Maggie Grace (what we call our sweet little girl for short) would be darling as a dress! Charlie Belle has a nice ring to it, too… And it happens to be the name I am *hoping* to use for a future sweet girl… 😉

Loree - January 22, 2012 - 12:57 pm

Our daughter is Hannah. We call her Hannah Banana from Indiana :)

I am an english lady living in south carolina. I started buying Matilda Jane and my daughter has worn it all over London this Christmas, it was so fabulous to see her in the big city on these gorgeous streets in your pieces!!

Carolyn - January 22, 2012 - 1:26 pm

How about Shalom. It means peace and is our daughter’s middle name.

Taunya Farr - January 22, 2012 - 1:30 pm

I think that the name, Bennett, is the sweetest name for an MJ piece. In Latin, the translation means “Little Blessed One”, and aren’t we all blessed to have our beautiful daughters wearing Matilda Jane??

; )

Trish J - January 22, 2012 - 1:31 pm

Ok—my first response looks to have all sorts of jumbled up codes in it— so let me try again from home computer…. My recommendations are:

Lia–after our sweet lia home 5 months from China!
Hailey- after our sweet Hailey home 6 years from China!

Or- to get fancy—-their middle names (1) Lu and (2) Ying or….

their favorite disney character- MULAN! (hope i can make 5 recommendations) and not be eliminated….

Bella'sMommy - January 22, 2012 - 1:33 pm

I just asked my 3 year old and she said Fantasticalicious is a word for a beautiful dress :)

Bella'sMommy - January 22, 2012 - 1:33 pm

I just asked me 3 year old and she said it is Fantasticalicious … so that’s our suggestion 😉

Abby - January 22, 2012 - 1:34 pm

Well…a tough one! My daughter is Kate…which I believe has been taken! So how about the Lemondrop? One of her favorite things! And perfect for spring/summery weather and bright colors!

Poppy Kiss, or Poppy Kisses, because my daughter calls her kisses “poppy kisses”. She smacks one on your cheek and makes the POP sound, then pulls back and yells “POPPY KISSES!” I even bought the domain name last year, thinking I would do something with it some day….

And a few of my other faves:

Tiramisu

Okay my name for a new dress is “Charlie”.

Heather Holt - January 22, 2012 - 2:21 pm

I am just learning the platinum game, but I personally love my baby girl’s nickname. She’s 6 1/2 now, so she’s not really a baby, but right when she came into the world, I couldn’t help but call her Puddin’ Pie. It made me think back to the Cosby show when Rudy would say the name “Bud”, and they still made those yummy Pudding Pops. (Totes wish they would bring those back BTW). So, Parker is my Puddin’ Pie. We call her Pud for short! Thanks!

Tisha Branstetter - January 22, 2012 - 2:23 pm

Okay my daughters name is Ella and we always call her Ella Bo Bella.

Brandi Samm - January 22, 2012 - 2:26 pm

Kendall :) she would be full of pink and very sassy and she’d fit my 5 year old to a t!!

Trish J - January 22, 2012 - 2:38 pm

Got one more—Pap Pap—in memory of our sweet grandfather…(something with flowers- or colors- he loved flowers)!

pamela r. - January 22, 2012 - 2:41 pm

I would love to see something named after my little sweet one! I am going to suggest a nick name she was given by the nuns in the orphanage in Ethiopia- ” Dilly “, short for Edelawit- it is such a perfect nickname for my princess- we named her Paisley and have kept Edelawit as part of her name- but ” Dilly ” is the nickname I’ve kept for my princess and it is her perfect fit!!

Aimee - January 22, 2012 - 2:43 pm

So, this is obviously NOT the name of one of my daughters…lol…but it IS the name of my first “child”…my furry child….my beloved shih-tzu….Smuckers. I know that some of you probably know the love of a beloved pet and Smuckers gave me all that and more. He was by my side through all my heartaches, my many college jobs, he was in my wedding, was there for the birth of my children and he is forever in my heart. He is no longer here with me, but I think of him every day, especially when I look down at the simple silver ring, stamped with his name that will NEVER leave my finger. Smuckers, my once-in-a-lifetime dog :)

I love this contest and have often wondered when you might do this! My daughter is Aria Vada. :) “Aria” is the Italian musical term meaning solo melody, and “Vada” is the name I fell in love with as a kid when I saw the movie “My Girl”. So many beautiful names out there, I give you girls credit for trying to pick just one winner! xo.

hi! a little late to the game but I’m suggesting a LOL ellie! named after the initials of my sweet Lucia Olivia Lagman! of course, the Lucia Knot has a good ring to it too. or the Travis roundabout, but i probably wouldn’t put it on my 2 year old son. What a fun contest!!

Green Dream, Green With Envy, or It’s Not Easy Being Green (Just love those muppets! Although that might be a copyright infringement, says the librarian in me.) St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, and a green frock would be nice to add to the wardrobe in time for the holiday. Plus it’d be a nice reminder that spring is around the corner.

Our daughter’s name is Green. We chose it for four special reasons, hence our love affair with the color.

I would recommend something with the word “twin” in it for a Platinum piece. My twin sister, Priscilla, is my best friend and I was introduced to Matilda Jane by her. Everyone always asks “how I like being a twin”. I never really know how to answer that because I’ve never known it any other way. And how to do you explain that it’s like having a best friend your whole life to do everything you love to do with you…that you can call 10 times a day just to share a sale, what you watching on TV, what you did today? Someone you just NEVER get tired of?

Some ideas are:
“twin”spiration
“twin”sational

BEAUTIFUl I have students named Hope, Autumn, Mya, Vanessa, Kailan, Annelise and josepheen! My kids names are Ava Angeline and Emma Leigh! Any of those would be perfect to call a new dress and I would be beyond thrilled to get a dress or even give it to one of my low income students. :o)

Mehgan Perez - January 22, 2012 - 6:45 pm

I didn’t read thru all 800 and something comments so if this is a repeat, sorry. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. What can I say, it started 10 years ago and well, once you’re hooked, you’re hooked. So I would love to see some names from there! Hermoine, Hufflepuff, Quidditich, Millicent, Katie Bell, Bellatrix, Callidora, Narcissus, Elladora, Hesper, Lavender Brown, Fleur, Pettigrew, Perpetua, Petunia, Luna, Menerva, Muggle, Montrose, Ollivander, Padima, Mirabella, Prentice, Pringle, Puddlefoot.

NADIA or NADIA GRACE- My Nadia is full of life and dreams about being a fashion designer and toy maker. I had to FIGHT for her name though…my husband was set on naming her Kendall (even after witnessing labor) and I KNEW her name should be Nadia. We flipped a coin and Nadia won 3 times in a row. Serendipity!

JUMI or JUMI BLEU …Japanese name…love it.

How about Gracie Mae. That is my middle Child’s name and she is such a sweet spirit. She loves everything matilda jane, so couldn’t think of a better person to name it after.

My littles have the best names 😉 (totally not biased) Sabina and Tea (there’s an accent over the e on Tea but haven’t figured out my new phone)

How fun would that be to have a dress named after your little girl? My daughter’s name is Elizabeth Marie. I also have a niece named Catherine June aka June Bug. Both very sweet and love to wear MJ!

I love boy-ish names for girls…like Joey Potter from Dawson’s Creek.:) I named my daughter Maya Drew b/c my husband’s name is Andrew. I think a cute little number named Maya Drew would be fabulous!

Ok, had this under the wrong post, so just in case it didn’t count for being there, here it is again.
Sugar Bean
(my daughter Morgan’s nickname, and the perfect name for a dress for a spunky, smart, girly girl with Platinum blond hair whose favorite color is blue)

You already used one of my daughters names Harper wish I had gotten that dress! Other names I like Sugarbear or Dilyn pronounced like Dylan. Her name is spelled different so I know she would love something with the spelling of her name! We will need that in a 10 please!!! Thanks A skirt will do!

Well, my ONLY girl who I’ve only recently come to buy Matilda Jane for (where was I all those years!) is named Kensingten. I love her name! When I was pregnant (accidentally :), I spent hours searching for just the perfect name after I knew I was having a girl. I looked right up till the hour practically. Then, one day, Dave and I were walking through a Target and getting some baby needs for the soon to be day and he saw a frame we liked (being photographers now, it is like serendipity :) with the brand name on it of Kensington. He said, “Kensington. What about that for a girl’s name?” Well, at first, I wasn’t sure. How awesome would it be just to tell your child you were named after a frame! After consideration, I couldn’t think of anything more lovely. I adore her name. It is whimsical, refreshing and happy just like her! I switched the O to and E for a brighter sound on the end. She loved recently finding out that her name is on a few road signs and even on a Palace and Gardens in the UK. It is fitting that all the places we’ve seen it are BEAUTIFUL – just like her personality! Sorry for the book, but I figured since all your names are especially chosen and have stories, you should know the story behind my choice. FYI: she is OBSESSED with skirts and is a size 8 :)
