Oh, Chris. What can we say about her that you don’t already know? Her official title now is Warehouse Manager, but Chris has been a part of Matilda Jane since before Matilda Jane even existed. When she and her husband Tim moved to Fort Wayne over ten years ago, the very first neighbor and friend that she met was Denise. The two of them worked together on different projects, including painting houses and furniture, traveling to set up at Art Fairs every weekend, and eventually she was the first employee of Matilda Jane. Chris says that one of her best qualities is her strong work ethic, and she always looks for this in everyone, especially employees. Now that we are in our new building, she says her favorite things are driving the forklift and holding daily morning meetings with the help of her new best friend- the giant whiteboard.
But she isn’t all work and no play. Chris is always one of the best people to go to when you need a good laugh- she is one of the most insanely hilarious people I have ever met in my life! She is also the mastermind behind days like Myrtle Madness Monday or Tony and Tina’s Italian Wedding that we had a couple of winters ago to brighten up some snowy days. She says that even though she isn’t in charge of event planning, she loves to come up with little ways to spice up everyday life here at MJC. (She says she still wears her Myrtle ruffles every Sunday when she is cleaning her house!) And that’s why we love her.

In her free time Chris LOVES to cook. Her nickname around her house is “The Chef-ness.” She loves seeing recipes on cooking shows or at restaurants and recreating them, but not following the original recipe too closely. If you ask her how she made her latest creation to bring to a carry-in, she will make it sound so easy, but try as I might I’ve never re-created one of her recipes to taste as good as hers! Her birthday is March 18th, which is close to St. Patrick’s day, but her favorite holiday is definitely Halloween, and she has been planning for the annual MJC Halloween party for months now! There is so much behind one of the most lovable MJC characters, that we couldn’t even tell it all in a hundred blogs, so you will have to be sure you meet her next year at Art Fair!
