Sugarland

I have kept Sugarland a secret from the get go. Usually when we do a collection within a line we like for them to all flow together.  So I was a bit hesitant to show any of the gals at 435 for fear of being shut down. I was so giddy over this line. I knew exactly what I wanted, I wanted PURE festive holiday. I didn’t want romantic holiday, shabby chic holiday nor pretty holiday. I wanted PURE fun. I wanted what I would’ve wore when I was young. I wanted it to scream PURE holiday.  And I must say, I think it surely does.

I really hope you all enjoy it as much I did creating it. I’m not sure why I am so nervous about it. I think it is cuz  I really went with my gut on this one, I really went for what I wanted.  To be honest, in designing Matilda Jane I always do what  I love but I also think what will work when you are building outfits, matching past seasons or what you, the customer,  may like. This time I was a bit selfish and thought of what I would love!  I sure hope this does not sound bad.

Have a great weekend and here’s a great wedding for my dear friend Renee!

I LOVE SUGARLAND! I love all of the bright colors and so do my girls! I also love that these things could work for spring too:)

Loved it too! Thank you so much for the long sleeved Anna! As a mommy in Ohio, I was afraid to go for the short sleeved one for winter. But then I was so bummed that I passed on it. I was so tickled pink (or green as the case may be) to see a long sleeved one in Sugarland! Thank you, thank you!

Denise! Just ask Miss Kayla……she knows I LOVE SUGARLAND. This is my fave line yet. It is sooo fun and bright and perfect for Christmas. You hit it out of the park on this one! I bought the whole line with some pieces x2 for both girls. Thank you for Sugarland!

tree*head - October 4, 2010 - 1:56 pm

We cannot wait for our Lollipop skirt and Gumdrop tee (among other yummy pieces)…now I totally get why you chose Sugarland for the line’s name!!

Melanie Howard - October 4, 2010 - 2:18 pm

I think you nailed it! Sugarland IS completely fun & festive & I LOVE the colors! I wanted 2 of every piece, but had to settle for just a handful of items so as not to break the bank…but I know my girls are going to flip! Great job, Denise!!

Always go with what you love Denise, it has never failed you in the past. You are a true creator of beautiful things!

Joann E - October 4, 2010 - 3:40 pm

Denise I love the Sugarland Collection you had such a great vision and it is so girly and fun. Hope you had a blast at Renee’s Wedding and catching up with old friends :)

ST - October 4, 2010 - 3:49 pm

Well, it would’ve been alot better if there were some coordinating pieces within the line to make outfits. Because of this I only bought one item. There really was no rhyme or reason to the pieces in the line.

Beautifulclothing - October 4, 2010 - 4:51 pm

One word……ADORABLE! If I could I would buy it all. Well done Denise and 435 crew. Can’t wait to see the spring line, hmmm as far as a spring collection name, how about Hullaballoo! ;-)

Bridgette - October 4, 2010 - 5:51 pm

Good evening Denise…have to be completely honest and I hope this does NOT offend…but this is the first collection in 2 yrs that I didn’t order from and I feel empty inside and weird about it LOL…but it just didn’t scream “have to have” for me….I really think fall MJ is second to none…wore Field Trip to the pumpkin patch..heaven…but I say good for you for going for it and doing what you love :)

Abby - October 4, 2010 - 6:40 pm

It’s even more awesome than all that it follows, and knowing this makes me love it even more!!!! The only bummer was that the Gum Drop wasn’t available in a 10 or 12;)…sure you probably ran low on the fabric, but I LOVE that one and will be sad to not have it! You rock and roll it once again. Lots of MJC love from Florida!

Elisabeth - October 4, 2010 - 6:42 pm

I ordered the Anna top :) Would love to see the “blue houses” print in a comfy top like Fiona&Friends. My 2 1/2 year old won’t take that top off!!!

You always know what we will love!

Mom to Four Princesses! - October 4, 2010 - 9:17 pm

Okay, I am gonna be honest here, At first sight, I was like… This is it?? Thats all?? All the anticipation, not seeing any pics, it was all killing me. I love my Local TK and she let me and my friend stay and put every combination… with everything imaginable, and yes, I fell in love with it. I think I was a little taken back by the size of this release. Expected it to be larger. I do love how things go with past collections but it is definitely a love/ hate relationship :) 1. Because sometimes we have outgrown it, 2. Maybe it is just very worn/old, then if you try to replace it, it may cost you your firstborn LOL. Don’t take me wrong, I realize you cannot remake everything from past lines as well :) We didn’t get the skirt…. we have Raven and Jesse, Absolutely Loved the knot dress.. gorgeous! And Love the Peasant! As well as Anna :) In The end, I will have to say, you did a great job! So no need to worry or be nervous, for us true Matilda Jane hobos..LOL.. we always grow to love it, even if we didn’t at first… Is that strange? It’s like the more pics of combinations I see, the more happy I am about each piece:) Hope I made sense, and want you to know I appreciate your Company, clothes, and all of your creations, and generosity :) Relax! We love it!

Joyce - October 5, 2010 - 5:22 am

I think you have a way of seeing things from the eyes of a little girl…Sugarland–the colors and pieces are things a little girl would fall in love with. Not something I could pull off, but definitely captures the essence of what it means to be young and free-spirited! Thanks for creating clothes that allow little girls to be children and not little “women.”

shannon - October 5, 2010 - 5:57 am

I honestly cannot express how much I LOVE IT! It everything kid. LOVE IT.

Leslie Bunt - October 5, 2010 - 6:42 am

K Squared Mommy - October 5, 2010 - 6:51 pm

I LOVE Sugarland! We can’t wait to get our fun knot dress and cute little hat! :)

Chris - October 5, 2010 - 6:59 pm

Definitely one of my faves! You were right, this line is just pure FUN!!! I absolutely love love this pic of the little girl wearing the lollipop, Mighty Acorn Tee, and BF Cardigan! I would have never thought to put this together but it is exactly how my daughter would dress herself – which is why it made me SMILE :) This just screams “fun to be a kid” to me! This is why you are such an amazing artist, Denise – always trust your instincts!
