Hello blog readers. This is Emily writing to you for the first time. I work in the warehouse here at Matilda Jane. Last week I got a note from a customer who so enjoyed the way I sign my name (with the dragonfly next to it) that she sent me a card with sparkly dragonflies whose wings pop out to become 3D. I was really surprised and flattered that someone took time out of their day to thank me for writing a little note on her order. Thank you , Lois, I smiled all day
Then, a couple of days later another customer, Amy, sent me a shout out in an email. Thanks, Amy!
What is going on? I thought to myself…. and was reminded that if you send smiles out into the universe they will come back to you in unexpected ways.
I love to laugh and giggle to myself a lot during the course if a day in the warehouse. These smiles often catch me by surprise. When Ann, who packs at a table close to mine, suddenly bursts into song in her gravely voice, I giggle. When Carrie, who is always hauling something across the parking lot, shrugs her shoulders and smiles, I giggle. Every time I see Myrtle Big Ruffle Pants, I giggle and remember the fun we had wearing them together in the warehouse. When Chris and Kacey shout at each other across the warehouse about silly stuff, I giggle. When I walk by Amber’s table and she is packing and dancing, I giggle.
We work hard in the warehouse. I am so grateful to have coworkers, able to make me giggle without even trying. My daughter Evelyn, who is a very wise 6 year old says, “Mom. Sometimes you just have to laugh.” I think she’s right![]()
